fhejwbdbd wasn't even an anon though, poor thing i don't blame anyone who is confused by this, not everyday you hear abt an european gal speak hindi (that's a bit of a stretch though, it's rusty, but i did do the subs once for mohabbattein just from the audio, back when torrents were the devil's spawn and you couldn't find anything half decent except for maybe telugu subs ☠️)

To my Yusyaireen,

Happy almost birthday! Can you almost believe that you will be 22 soon (and by soon I mean in less than a day) Where has the time gone? Remember your obsession towards Mohabbattein? Yeah I remember that like it was yesterday!

Now, fast forward a few years to turns 22. A lot has happened to you that will be memorable to you for sure in years to come. When you were 21, you were in the midst of your second year of college (you’re an English major. Congratulations, by the way) and scared of what the future held. You were dreading for that day because you have no idea what the next chapter in your life would bring.

You also learned how to value friendships and what it really means to have someone's back and remain loyal to them no matter what life throws at you. You lost a lots of friend. Yikes, but you are handling it like a champ! Just keep smiling and everything will be okay.

It's not going to be an easy journey of living, but it is for sure going to be a roller coaster ride of emotions. You’re right, there is so much to hope for in your life. At this point, where you are now, anything is possible. While it is so exciting to watch the future as it unfolds, it is terrifying not to know what comes next, or even be able to make an educated guess (pun intended). You will have heartbreak and disappointment, and although I’d love to tell you about them to spare you the pain, I won’t. Knowing about them, avoiding them when possible, would keep you from experiencing all the love and joy you are capable of, which is a lot.

But,

You have lived age 21 quite well, but I am ready to see what being 22 has to bring.

That's a good list. I've seen quite a few of them. I need to get back into the swing of watching Hindi movies. I’m looking forward to Krrish 4 whenever they get around to it. It’s such a fun franchise. 

Some of my personal favorites are: 

Dil to Pagal Hai (1997) - dance troupe love triangle drama ensues when a guy manages to find his literal dream girl

Deewar (1975) - brothers clash when one becomes a criminal and the other a police officer

Don (1978) - To catch a gang, a kind man who looks just like a wanted criminal must infiltrate the gang when the criminal dies in a police chase

Darr (1993) - absolutely effed up tale of a stalker who tries to take things too far

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) - family drama ensues when the older brother of a rich family weds a village girl, luckily the younger brother is determined to reconcile

Jodhaa Akbar (2008) - historical romance drama about Emperor Akbar and Princess Jodhaa

Mohabbattein (2000) - Loves Labour’s Lost meets Dead Poet’s Society but with Bollywood music 

The original Drishyam movie from 2013 in Malayalam is also good, though the subject matter could be triggering for some people in places.

Jimmy Sheirgill describes himself as an actor sans the method and someone who consciously chose to walk away from the sticky mould of a chocolate boy.The actor says his takeaway from over a 20-year-long career is that he slides in and out of a role when he is out of the camera frame.”I wouldn’t call myself a method actor. Method acting is a deeper concept. You have to constantly be that character. You move like him, talk and behave like him till the time you’re shooting the film.”I can’t be living and breathing my characters all the time. That’s not been my learning. But when the shoot’s on, you do your job with sincerity and honesty”, Sheirgill told PTI in an interview.Jimmy Sheirgill, who started off with films such as Maachis, Mohabbattein, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and Dil Hai Tumhara, says he reconsidered his decision of taking up less prominent, meatier roles early in his career.”I knew I had to try out something’s else, that’s why I moved to films like Haasil, Munna Bhai MBBS, A Wednesday!, Yahaan, Tanu Weds Manu…”But at some point, when I started doing this I was a little insecure. Am I doing the right thing by switching tracks? But now looking back after 10-15 years, I’m glad I took that decision”.This year opened with a bang for Sheirgill as the terrifying-yet-calm upper caste influential man Bhagwan Das Mishra who relentlessly tries to sabotage the boxing career of Vineet Kumar Singh’s Shravan in Mukkabaaz.The actor says though he has done some grey characters in Eklavya and Sahib Biwi and Gangster, the reason why the audience lapped it up with both hands is because of its blatant nature.”It (Mukkabaaz) perhaps provided a pleasant shock. I had done negative roles in the past but not the in-your-face ones. It was great”, he says.Sheirgill latest release is Phamous, a drama set in the Chambal belt of Madhya Pradesh.He plays a simpleton Radhe Shyam in the film, which explores the themes of love, greed and leadership.The actor says director Karan Lalit Butani, who has worked as an assistant director to Tigmanshu Dhulia in Bullet Raja and Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster 2, has given an international treatment to the story which is loaded with memorable dialogues.”There used to be those Westerns Eastwood-Tarantino style of filmmaking. I think somewhere he was inspired by those films. I think that’s the big USP,” he adds.Also featuring Kay Kay Menon, Pankaj Tripathi, Jackie Shroff, Mahie Gill and Shriya Saran, Phamous was released on June 1. MOHABBATEIN (2000)

Mohabbatein 200 yılında, Veer - Zaara filminin yönetmeni olan Aditya Chopra tarafından yönetilmiş olan bir Hindistan yapımı komedi, dram ve romantik türde film. Baş rollerde; Black filminin yıldızı Amitabh Bachchan, My Name Is Khan filminin yıldızı Shah Rukh Khan ve Dhoom serisinin yıldızı Uday Chopra var.

Konusuna gelince; ciddiyeti ve disiplini ile tanınan bir üniversite vardır. Bu üniversitenin başında bulunan Narayan ise herkes tarafından korkulan ve okulda her konuya ve her kişiye hakim olan son derece otoriter ve disiplinli bir adamdır. Bu adamın özellikle okulunda duymak istemediği hadise aşk davasıdır. Öğrencilerden biri bu konuyla karşısına gelirse okuldan atılacaktır ve okuldan atıldığı için hiç bir okulda yer bulamayacaktır. Bu haldeki bir okula Vicky, Sameer ve Karan adında üç genç gelir ve kaydolur. Kısa süre sonunda da hepsi aşık olurlar ancak yönetimden dolayı aşklarından vazgeçecek noktaya varırlar ta ki okula yeni gelen müzik öğretmenleri karşılarına çıkana kadar.

Normal Hint filmleri gerek klip sahnelerinden gerekse başka bazı durumlardan dolayı uzun oluyor bunu biliyorum ama bu filmde öncelikle klip sahneleri bile bence ilgi çekici değildi. Gereksiz yere uzatılmış ve yapılmış klipler vardı. Daha kısa tutulabilir daha ilgi çekici hale getirebilirdi. Film içinde Amerika yapımı Ölü Ozanlar Derneği filminden bazı aşırmalar da vardı. Konu vasattı. Film için puanım 6. Keyifli seyirler dilerim.

So I was rewatching Mohabbattein just now and there's a scene where Raj told his students a story on a Valentines Day and I was like, OMG! That's today!

He told his students about how he chased after a girl he loved. He wrote his confession on a leaf to the girl. And when he thought the girl had left,  she replied back.

Then one of the students said that, " So they lived happily ever after, after that right?"

And he was like, "No, this is a story about the one and only boy who got expelled because of LOVE" . I was on the verge of sobbing because it was so beautiful.

After he got expelled, the girl killed herself to make his father realise how beautiful LOVE is and her father is also the Principal of the boy's school.

The students ask how did their teacher know so much about the story, without saying anything he showed them the leaf. The leaf where he once confessed his love on it.

Without saying anything, all the students stood up and saluted him for being so brave to come back to the school and teach them about love.

Even after lovers have died, after their beloved have perished. Their loves live on forever.
