yeah exactly. what really gets me is that the singular reference to 12 era is in an episode Not Written By Chibnall â the haunting of villa diodatti was written by maxine alderton, by far my favorite writer in the era. every other reference to a pre chibnall era (ie. the agatha christie reference in kerblam, the use of the heart of the tardis in flux ep 1) just feels so empty and devoid of meaning.
chibnall wanted his era to have a âfresh startâ, so he severed every tie he could think of. and now, transitioning to the following era, which is beginning with an anniversary special, i can see how difficult it is to incorporate 13âs era. not out of any contempt or hatred for thirteen or for jodie whittaker, but rather by chibnallâs own design.
people are soooo mad about the new sonic screwdriver not having an element of thirteen's sonic and saying thirteen era is going to be erased or whatever as if thirteen ever mentioned anything that happened in twelve era despite having literally just lost like all her friends...
#like even early moffat era Tries to incorporate the end of rtd era and show its effects â thatâs why the daleks are there in VotD#I donât like that episode at all (I actively dislike it for obvious reasons LMAO)#but an attempt was made#I canât say the same for chibnall and 12 era#idk. I could go more into this but iâm en route to a concert so itâll have to be later đ#doctor who#meta

Martin Freeman (60/366)
Sherlock 2010â2017
Writer & Creator Mark Gatiss Steven Moffat
*Modernized version of the Conan Doyle characters.
T1.E1 A Study in Pink (2010) Directed Paul McGuigan
Great 'dialogue exchanges' between characters: N°1 Sherlock and John (1x1; crime scene).
SHERLOCK: Good shot. JOHN: Yeah, it must have been. Through that window⌠SHERLOCK: Well youâd know. SHERLOCK: Weâll need to get the powder burns out your finger. I donât suppose youâd serve time for this, but letâs avoid the court case. Are you all right? JOHN: Course Iâm all right. SHERLOCK: You have just killed a man. JOHN: Yeah. True. But he wasnât a very nice man. SHERLOCK: No. No, he wasnât really, was he? JOHN: And frankly, a bloody awful cabbie. SHERLOCK: Yeah, thatâs true. A very bad cabbie. You shouldâve seen the route we took here. JOHN: Stop it, we canât giggle. Itâs a bloody crime scene, stop. SHERLOCK: Donât blame me. You shot him! JOHN: You could maybe keep your voice down a bit. JOHN: Sorry. Sorry, just ⌠nerves. SHERLOCK: Sorry. JOHN: You were going to take the damn pill, werenât you? SHERLOCK: Course I wasnât. Playing for time. Knew youâd show up. JOHN: No, you didnât. Thatâs how you get your kicks, isnât it? Risking your life to prove youâre clever. SHERLOCK: Why would I do that? JOHN: Because youâre an idiot.
youtube
N°2 Sherlock and John (1x1; Angelo's restaurant).
JOHN: People donât have arch-enemies. SHERLOCK: Iâm sorry? JOHN: In real life. There are no archenemies in real life, it doesnât happen. SHERLOCK: Doesnât it? Sounds a bit dull. JOHN: So who was that guy? SHERLOCK: What do real people have then? In their real lives? JOHN: Friends. People they know. Peoplethey like, people they donât likeâŚGirlfriends, boyfriends. SHERLOCK: Yes, well as I was saying⌠Dull! JOHN: So. You donât have a girlfriend then? SHERLOCK: A girlfriend? No. Not really my area. JOHN: Oh. Oh, right⌠Do you have a boyfriend? Which is fine, by the way. SHERLOCK: I know itâs fine. JOHN: So youâve got a boyfriend then? SHERLOCK: No. JOHN: Right. Okay. Unattached. Like me. Fine, good. SHERLOCK: John, you should know, I consider myself married to my work, and while Iâm flattered by your interest Iâm really not looking for any kind of⌠JOHN: No, no, I wasnât asking you out. No! Iâm just saying, itâs all fine! SHERLOCK: Good.

A brief word on RTD criticism...
Just a reminder that I know a lot of the people who follow me are fans of the Chibnall era but don't go too hard on hating RTD. There are things to complain about with his work but don't go all interpreting everything he does in the worst possible light. Don't act like the people who have become so determined to hate the Chibnall era that everything he does gets given the most negative and unpleasant interpretation. It's difficult moving on from an era you like but don't be too geared to be negative towards the next one.
I've seen the fandom growing more sour over the past decade to be honest, with plenty of people before this taking the worst interpretations of everything Moffat does, and it does make DW discourse a rather joyless experience.
Basically don't go down the route of people who turned any Doctor Who-related thing into a pretext to hate on Chibnall. I've seen way too much of that.
Like I don't want to go down the route of people snarling that Chibnall erased 12's era in saying that RTD is out to erase 13. I don't want us to be like the people snarling that 13 being dismissive of a good Dalek erased 12 doing the same thing... which was moving the goalposts anyway considering that by this logic stories in the RTD era were being ignored!
There will be things to criticise in any era, maybe the metacrisis makes you trans stuff in The Star Beast was iffy, maybe the Giggle itself wasn't given enough focus, maybe you don't like the bigeneration, which I still have mixed thoughts on... but you get my point. I don't want us to end up like the bad faith critics of the past era.
And try not to misinterpret my point here!
I have realised that if you want to hate something then you will always find something to. Since 2012 I go into a DW story wanting to enjoy it⌠and usually the experience has been then going online to find people saying why I should hate it.
Feel free to comment on what you think on my point.

Happy Birthday Scottish actor Alex Norton, born January 27th 1950 in Glasgow.
As a youngster Alex spent part of his childhood in Moffat Street in the Gorbals before moving to Pollokshaws. He was educated at Shawlands Academy
Alex discovered acting at the age of 13 through an after-school drama group, which led to a part in the BBC television series Dr Finlay's Casebook. Because of his background and his father's lack of approval of his chosen career, Norton decided to avoid the traditional route into acting and instead worked from part-to-part.
After leaving school he initially worked in a paint factory before deciding to take up acting full time. He moved to Manchester where he performed in folk clubs, and later returned to Glasgow to join the Citizens Theatre, where he appeared in over 600 performances.
In 1973, he became one of the founder members of the 7:84 theatre company, which toured and performed in schools across Scotland. Alex wrote, directed and appeared in numerous pantomimes, and appeared in numerous films, including Gregory's Girl, Local Hero, Patriot Games and Braveheart. In 2002, he was cast as DCI Matt Burke in the ITV detective drama series Taggart, a role which made him a household name.
Since 2013, Norton has played Eric in the sitcom Two Doors Down series 7 hit the small screen last November and while another season hasn't been commissioned as yet I am sure it will be.
Alex was also in the online Fantasy Adventure game Diablo IV, as well as turning up in couple of episodes of the excellent Good Omens, which a lot of was filmed in Scotland. He was last on our screens over the bells on STV with Blyth Duff

Besides clintasha do you have any other ships marvel and none marvel
No other ship besides Clintasha has quite enraptured me in the way they have which I wholeheartedly attribute to the amazing chemistry between Scarlett and Jeremy. As soon as Clint uttered Tasha I was hooked. And Iâve been stuck there ever since.
Iâve tried to flirt around with other ships in other fandoms namely Reylo
(Kylo Ren and Rey from the sequel trilogy but JJ Abramâs killed my mom and ran over my dog with The Rise of Skywalker and I havenât been able to find the same level of enjoyment out of the franchise since, obligatory fuck you to JJ!)
and oddly enough Sherlolly
(Sherlock and Molly Hooper, another obligatory fuck you to Moffat, the lazy writing for the last season felt like the equivalent of getting shoved in a locker and called a nerd so my love for Sherllolly is now strictly regulated to A03).
But alas they havenât had the same staying power as my beloved duo.
Thereâs something so enthralling about their relationship that I donât think I will ever be able to accurately portray on page, but that hasnât stopped me from writing 170,000 and counting in an effort to do so!
I find some other pairing particularly thought provoking even though I hardly read about them nor do I look for such content. I can understand the appeal but it just doesnât get me excited as Clintasha does.
These pairings include: Stucky (very interesting dynamic and I totally get the appeal, I wouldâve preferred that over canon Peggy/Rogers (I just find her character annoying and uninspired imo, tired almost. Let Steve move on, ya know?),
RomanRogers (I get it, sheâs Russian, heâs a stand in for America. Itâs the Cold War but make them fuck, but I just donât personally find Chris Evans that attractive. I prefer men who are not conventionally attractive. Heâs almost too pretty. For me personally)
and Kate Bishop and Yelena (I donât know the ship name for this one so if anyone knows that would be cool. I think it has the potential to get me invested but I doubt Marvel will give it the needed depth for it to capture my attention in the same way as Clintasha. If perhaps it can be twisted in a way that it doesnât quite mirror Clintasha then I could be on board but I doubt Marvel will go that route.
Oh and Yelena and Bucky (weird I know but it lets me have my cake ((Clintasha)) and eat it too ((a Winterwidow equivalent)). If I were to ever indulge in this particular ship Yelena would have to be significantly different and diverge from her MCU counterpart.))
So TLDR other ships that I find interesting enough to read/engage with: Reylo and Sherlolly
Ships that I find intellectually stimulating but otherwise would not specifically seek out but am okay if a minor pairing or otherwise mentioned: RomanRogers, Stucky, Yelena and Kay and Yelena and Bucky.
Again would like to reiterate for the class that these are all my personal opinions and are meant to be subjective. My personal thoughts and opinions are not an attack on you personally because to be frank: âI donât even know you kid!â
Thanks for asking!
#ask me#clintasha#other marvel ships#my personal opinion#shipping talk#ships that I donât read or engage with but do find intellectually stimulating#not a hate post#but more so an open hearted thought excersize

the thing about moffat era is that it had a few incredible hard hitting gems of storylines that really stand out in the doctor who canon but on the WHOLE his era was Not Good. like, missy might be one of my favourite forms of the master, but I'll never forgive moffat for taking the coward's route of confirming doctor/master but only with the master presenting as a woman. and the Vincent van gogh episode changed my life but the episodes surrounding it were mediocre at best. and as much as I love rory and Amy as companions, the direction moffat went even from the Very Beginning of Amy's introduction leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I think about it. not to mention river song; again, a great character as a performance, but in terms of writing and her arc? what the fuck was moffat thinking. and I'm not saying rtd didn't make mistakes but his era was more Consistently good. Instead of being 80% mediocre and 15% good and 5% absolutely horrible, rtd was like. Very good all the way through with several mishaps and bad shit throughout the series occasionally. the way Mickey and Martha were treated is not something to be overlooked cos it was heinous and if rtd can't redeem himself with ncuti gatwa's series then I fear there is simply no hope for him. okay that's all I had to say

... have I gone to far?
Some standard whovian: did you know thirteen is actually the fifteenth Doctor because of War and Metacris?
Me (looking up from my diagram): huh? Oh, no... She's... Wait, let me count... 13,12,11,10.2,10,9,war,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,m8,m7,m6,m5,m4,m3,m2,m1,.. (that's Morbius covered.... Let's add fugitive and timeless.. nah, actually. Let's go down the Other<Intrepid route because fuck you), the Other, Cousin Intrepid (Shadow Spire), Third Intrepid, Second Intrepid, leelah and Andred's first child,... So that's.. what? 14+1+8+8+1+4=14+16+2+4=30+6=36.
Me: so yeah, Jodie's the 36th Doctor, by one count. But your right she's also the 15th by another count. Also Moffat definitely only added war so he could write Time of the Doctor and permanently fucked over the basic number system
Wait none of that was relevant to doctor!Clara. Nevermind, I'm tired shut up. Sorry. Goodnight and goodday and be well â¤ď¸
#sorry for that rant at the end#just a slight pet peeve of mine#anyway hope you enjoy this extract#doctor mapping#doctor clara#dw#dweu

give me onscreen fluff no matter the cost
i think rtd2 should kill off dimemsion cannon-toting rose marion tyler. hey. im not saying its not gonna highly anger me if they kill her off doing something ooc because it will if they go down that route. make it make sense based on the material that is given. because this aint early 2000s now. its original and new. and not predictable and yt.
im saying so we can have onscreen scenes of then kissing and holding baby mia because i'll be fucking damned if you gave that to racist joan redfern but NOT TO ROSE????
this is because if meta crisis ten/tentoo does come back, there needs to be a reason why he is there alone. we saw what he does when hes alone and only one person attempts to stop him: he starts blowing shit up. doctordonna AND jackie couldnt stop him from basically being a bomber the whole time.
it'll mull him, not harden him or make him go evil like every predictable fanfic whenever rose dies and hes evil and blah blah. it'll ground him. and i dont want it to be like: oh rose passed away! Any way lets- no.
I want it to where the Doctor doesn't realize something is wrong beyond just tentoo being back. It would be the last thing he would think, the one thing they would never come to the conclusion to. I mean, for us it was decade or so ago but for the doctor, that was essentially billions of years ago. That was just plucked stray eyelash from two years ago in comparison.
And tentoo is keeping up appearences. Even says present tense verbs "she is doing great, she is currently so and so doing whatnot" but then it starts being noticeable. Bit by bit. He used 'did' or 'used to' a few slips. Here and there. Something that can brushed off as parallel world: different rules.
But then, near the climax, a gutpunch - you know rtd love his gutpunches of heartbreak - rose died and tentoo blamed himself for it. [mind you, there is a flashback of rose, teen mia, and tentoo just to establish that a comic or audio isnt now canon.] and its something mundane though not how danny pink initially died. at least mundane enough for it to happen but not too mundane enough to be ANOTHER FRIDGING DEFAULT TROPE.
tentoo and pete was there (yes surprise guest star shaun dingwall) and the look of horror on their face when they both rush out only for it to be too late.
but it gets tentoo to stop being trigger-happy. Yes, he gets hurt, but the reason the reveal happens is him saying something along the lines of 'i can't make my daughter into an orphan'
because if moffat gets a hold of that, he's gonna make stone rose a reality in the most cruellest way of killing off rose. Not send her back in time, just turn her into an irreversible weeping angel with no trace of anything that she used to be except her face and hair. I don't need that NO ONE NEEDS THAT!!! but as far as killing of fan faves go: thats your real motherlode there.
it shows no one is safe. tegan and kate stewart almost proved it to be the case. but killing off rose? rose tyler? dame rose marion tyler of the powell estate? that? that's a huge move. a big move.
but it explains so much in retrospect for 50th in film and novelisation. why the moment expressions are the way they are. why literally 10 and 11 could never see her but war and 13 and superpower companion from brooklyn, ny, gabby gonzalez can. why be a ghost haunting them? why be present yet also not at all to them? why be the yellow wallpaper in a burning room of gold? anyway.
give us what we got in one comic as a wandavision esque for empress rose's perspective but onscreen with the main girl! and we all saw i hate suzie fear ep i cried when her character died. let me repeat myself: i cried when billie's suzie's character in a fictional show within i hate suzie, the zombie show that doesnt exist, died. let her cook! i want my heart feel like regina mills in one of her â¨ď¸always serving evil queen regalityâ¨ď¸came into my house, punched through my chest, crunched my heart like it was a simple wine glass stem and then emotionally tossed my body around like she about to audition for making me a new kind of muppet.
make us fear for EVERY 2005 COMPANION RETURNING (except jack because hes still immortal) make us actually clutch pearls and the fabric covering our stomachs!
[this is the same disney+ that now has uncensored punisher and the last time we had rtd writing in america was miracle day and that was gruesome in itself so đđŹ the whiplash of heartbreakingly devastating opportunities is right there. especiall since rose is canonically established to be part of pete's world torchwood not unit so. yeah be afraid.]
#bw: out of ethos#tv: doctor who#tv: torchwood#{dont read allat. just know i want rosetentoo to get same tosh x owen treatment but for rtd to give us pete world torchwood spinoff}#bw: long post#{its established in various rosetentoo content that they are in pete's world torchwood instead of unit}#{so yeah jot that shit down because that torchwood was already existing before doomsday under a resistance group}#{and now rich boi pete who runs it: the same pete that is a counterpart to dead dad pete: and just added rosetentoo?}#{brace for the worse yall if we do get a double spinoff from rtd}

TUNNEL #29
Looking at some random downloads, realized a common theme was that Tunnel #29 is The. Cutest. Tunnel.
The 2% grade from Denver up to the Moffat Tunnel crawls through South Bend Canyon (along South Bend Creek) with superfluous tunnels and a surfeit of sharp curves, thanks to the mandate of then-Chief Engineer H.A. Sumneso who surveyed the Moffat Route's well-nicknamed "tunnel district" at bountiful Ď/1 ratio of rail to "as the crow flies" distance as he tried every trick not to make it steeper than 2%
A blasted rock bore barely 78 feet in length, tight-clearance Tunnel 29 on the Moffat Route is at milepost 36.38 and sandwiched between one of Sumneso's super-tight 12° cruves and the "curved bridge with no name" over South Bend Creek (which is officially named "Bridge 36.45" after it's milepost location) The feature on the creek's right bank seems to be locally nicknamed the Gibraltar Cliffs, from whence railfans look down on the tiny trains below.
The cutest tunnel? Yep. Did I mention the Ski Train?

Got around to watching the first episode of v9 and there is just so much. Read more bc this is rambly first impressions
I am utterly confused abt what tone they were going for here. Rehashing some bits of v8 makes it seem we're continuing dark and heavy, but that's immediately dashed when Ruby stupidly tries to pass that bit 4000 times. Girl doesn't even try Bursting or idk walking around it
And don't even get me started on Little. Stupid emotional weight mental breakdown cockblock. Fucking bypass this plotpoint free card asshole. Who tf gets scared by just the mention of a cat???
What was even the point of Blake and Weiss being ambushed if you're going to solve it literally 10 seconds later? Especially after that garbage montage of them trying to get Gambol Shroud where they try everything but climbing the damn thing
Weiss and Blake finding each other immediately and off screen is nonsense, and finding Gambol Shroud right away is absolute bullshit. Is this place actually the forest of convenience from Galavant?? It would explain why Ruby doesn't even attempt looking for Cresent Rose
Ruby fainting is both overdramatic and a cheap way of skipping past Weiss's expo-dump. Just fade to black after she says she's going to explain ffs! That way everybody knows instead of everyone but our main character who's suddenly decided to play distressed Victorian woman
I do like the aesthetic of the hostile creature but the twitching and muttering rubs me the wrong way for some reason. It was hard to hear its dialogue and the site I used didn't offer captions, but I think it mentioned regrouping or reporting? Ngl I'm actually curious abt that
"I think we're in a fairytale" shut upppp. Yall aint done shit to establish what a fairytale looks like in a world based on Grimm's fairytales so this is so fucking dumb. Gonna go the Bright (2017) route and mention Shrek too? Fuck off with that candyland bullshit
I'm kind of sad that they aren't shedding layers yet. I recall a post that theorized the reason the Atlas outfits sucked ass is bc the layers underneath were the real focus for the Wonderland/Vacuo arcs, and I was really hoping that would prove true. I desperately need Weiss to ditch that hideous blue shoulder thing. Burn it
Ngl when Yang showed up with a more bitter tone than the rest I was immediately reminded of that one Moffat Who episode where Amy takes a different path than Doctor and when they next meet up she's like 30 years older. While 30 years is a bit much, the idea of time passing differently between the planes and how that'd affect the team's reunion is too delicious to let slide
The only way RWBY can be saved is if Little is killed painfully on screen. That would make this the best show ever
#rwde#another reason i hate little is bc i am unfortunately aware of little aus. not a fan and i hate the reminder#if you dont know what that is god i wish that were me#ruby should've broken down the moment she couldnt find cresent rose so her not even looking is an insult#this season is already a trainwreck and i am living

Hwy 128 Colorado River Scenic Byway, UT (No. 11)
The Dinosaur Diamond is a 486-mile (782 km)Â scenic and historic byway loop through the dinosaur fossil laden Uinta Basin of the U.S. states of Utah and Colorado.[2] The byway comprises the following two National Scenic Byways:
The 328-mile (528 km) Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway in Carbon, Duchesne, Emery, and Grand counties, Utah;Â and
The 134-mile (216 km) Dinosaur Diamond National Scenic Byway in Garfield, Mesa, Moffat, and Rio Blanco counties, Colorado.
The highway forms a diamond-shaped loop with vertices at Moab, Helper, Vernal and Grand Junction.
Notable features along the Dinosaur Diamond include Dinosaur National Monument, the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, Natural Bridges National Monument, Colorado National Monument, and several national forests.
The path of Interstate 70 (Iâ70) in Colorado is derived from two previous highways, U.S. Highway 6 (US 6) and US 40. US 40 was an original piece of the U.S. Highway system commissioned in 1926. The portion now numbered US 6 came about in 1937 when the route over Vail Pass was paved. The first route through the path of I-70 in Utah was the Old Spanish Trail, a trade route between Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Los Angeles, California. The trail was in common use before the MexicanâAmerican War in 1848.

Everybody in the notes is asking about topography and rivers etc so, looking at the map shown in the OP (which doesn't appear in the sources and appears to be an edited impression of a slime mold map):
It clearly doesn't account for topography.
By coincidence and probably also the mapmaker judiciously choosing cities that are on major corridors as nodes even if they're not very big (e.g. Great Falls, Missoula, Spokane) it appears to have chosen something resembling real rail routes across the Continental Divide: Denver to SLC is pretty close to the route of the real Transcontinental Railroad, Albuquerque to roughly around where Flagstaff is likewise, and... some sort of route through Northern Montana and Idaho. The Southern Pacific corridor is missing. The Moffat Route that Amtrak actually uses for DEN-SLC is also missing but it's not technically an optimal route.
However, the map cuts right through the Sierra Nevada in possibly the most comically bad location: the route looks like it's pretty close to Mt Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous US. This was likely aided by the mapmaker choosing what looks like Fresno as a node and omitting Reno and Sacramento.
Slime mold was grown on an agar gel plate shaped like America and food sources were placed where Americaâs large cities are.Â
The result? A possible look at how to best build public transportation.Â
I just really like the idea of slime mold on a map of the US. Itâs beautiful.

the best setup of a season arc in Doctor Who imo was season 4, when they were sneaky about it. they just dropped a couple bits of Rose to get your attention and then little asides about things like the bees and a missing moon that you didnât really think about until it all came together. Turn Left was a great episode in its own right as well as serving to accelerate the plot that would close out the season. all this to say Iâm a little bummed to see RTD going a more heavy-handed, almost Moffat-esque route with this season, especially with whatever impossible girl thing is going on with Ruby, not into that at all
