I've recently become obsessed with @softmushie /mushie r/ idk nAMeS but their ART AND EVERYTHING AND AHHHHH they're amazing

And Modeus. Dang. I absolutely love Levi, but for some reason I had the random urge to draw Modeus and I DO NOT REGRET A THING.

YO SO CRYP07 WAS DISCONTINUED BUT MUSHIE POSTED ANOTHER ANIMATIC FOR THEM AND I THINK I WAS RIGHT ABOUT SOME OF IT??? obviously if you’ve seen the little talks animatic i was way off about what actually happened but i think the thing about past modeus being the kid with long hair rather than being an ex of theirs?

SO i was just rewatching @softmushie’s 1925 animatic and i have a theory.

a probably completely incorrect theory.

(note that i’m not 100% caught up on everything, and i can’t check stuff that i remember mushie saying on tumblr bc their tumblr is either gone or just not working for me. also i did make a much more incoherent comment on the actual video, i promise i didn’t steal it i just decided to post it here too and clean some things up while i’m at it.)

so you know this scene?

every time i’ve watched the animatic before, i just assumed that this was the person modeus screwed over that resulted in them becoming the demon of lust. but it always struck me as a little odd, because it never seemed super realistic to just have someone burn to death in front of you while you just stand there.

so i was rewatching it and i noticed at the end, the person who’s on fire looks up and their eyes turn pink, the signature color of lust.

so... what if this is modeus?

my working theory is that this scene is metaphorical. it’s modeus of the present reminiscing on their past, and how they became lust. in life, they slept around a lot and frequently ended up with people who eventually hurt them. in the end they were too heartbroken and ended up killing themself with fire. as such, they became the embodiment of lust, as they were very lustful and eventually that ended up killing them.

this could explain modeus’s horrible past that mushie has alluded to.

in addition, apparently mushie wrote a quote from modeus where they described their pain as ‘scorching.’

it could explain what happened to their heart.

this could also explain their general behavior. they’re often seen playing with people’s emotions using sex and while it’s no excuse, it can feel a lot safer to end a relationship on your own terms instead of risking being abandoned.

anyway that’s all just wild speculation but uhh thanks for listening?
