Jonrya February: Valentines Challenge

What do you know of my heart? day

This month, we challenge content creators to give some love to Jonrya as we continue the energy of the highly successful Jonrya Week from January. If interested, the details are below.

Notes:

Valentine's Day theme. It should be relationship based. It can be fluffy, sexy, angsty, dark, etc. Could be set in canon, canon AU, modern AU, crossover, etc. The sky is the limit!

Jonrya Roadtrip AU

Jon and Arya have always been close as children, keeping each other’s secrets, sharing beds, and finishing each other’s sentences. Raised as siblings but knowing that they’re actually cousins has never been an issue until Jon starts dating and Arya gets teary-eyed and upset every time he brings his girlfriend home. A few years later, Jon goes insane with jealousy after Arya starts to date as well. 

This eventually leads to a drunken confession and a kiss that comes out of nowhere. It’s also the start of a torrid love affair that they have to keep secret. Their family still thinks they’re still just a brother and sister who are very close. But they’re both messy about it, skin-hungry and intense as they kiss and make love as often as they could, sometimes forgetting where they were or locking doors. Even the touch they share whenever they’re with their family takes on a new meaning: the mussing of her hair, the rain of kisses on his face, and the cuddling and hugging that they’ve always shared openly in front of others. They barely escape being caught by family, friends and the castle staff of Winterfell.

As often as they could, whenever school breaks out, Jon and Arya go on various road trips with just the two of them, as far away from Winterfell and Wintertown where everyone knows them. Furthermore, because they’re Lord Stark’s children, they’re sometimes targetted by the paparazzi. So they drive as far away as they could, from the Flint Mountains, Bear Island, and even the Haunted Forest in the North. They use motels, cabins, or sometimes just go camping under the stars. Sometimes, they fly, take the train, or travel by ship to places as far away as Braavos in Essos, the Summer Islands, and Dorne where Jon was born.

They have many aliases whenever they travel but at the front desk of hotels, they always register themselves as a married couple. Maybe someday, once they’ve worked up the courage to tell their family about their secret relationship, this could become reality. Until then, this is enough for them.

There’s 10 weeks until Jonrya Week!

Again here are the themes and more about what they could entail...

Saturday 25th January - Creatures

Have you imagined Jon as a dragon rider? Arya getting the chance to ride a dragon? Or both of them as ancient legendary figures in Valyria who could skinchange into dragons? Arya as the queen of a great wolf army? Jon and Arya reuniting while they warg into their direwolves Ghost and Nymeria? What about the two of them fighting the Others or the White Walkers side by side? In modern times, could they be proud parents to a pack of fluffy wolves somewhere in the wild where they work from their cosy cabin, using their laptops? Could they be on the run in a post-apocalyptic world infested with zombies? How about them being Hogwarts students who have to hide not only their baby dragons but their pack of wolves in the Forbidden Forest? Or a coffee shop AU with them as baristas in a dog or cat cafe? How about a Pokemon AU? Or them being the only ones in their family who are wolf-blooded with wolf ears and heat and rutting cycles?

Sunday 26th January - Dark

How do you think death will affect Jon after he gets resurrected, especially since his last obsessive thought was Arya and his protective desire to save her from Ramsay Bolton? Will death affect him like it did Lady Stoneheart and Lord Beric Dondarrion? How has war affected them? Does Arya have nightmares from witnessing the death of her father, seeing Robb’s desecrated body, and saving her mother’s mangled body from the river? Not to mention experiencing what constitutes as being a child soldier and witnessing murder, rape and torture in Harrenhal? How will they deal with their bond after their tragic experiences have changed them so much? Will they be even more skin-hungry and cross the line of their unconditional love? In modern times, what if they both return from deployment and are the only ones who could understand each other enough that it blurs their previous innocent relationship? What about a High School AU where they actually deal with a creepy Ramsay Bolton who is obsessed with Arya?

Monday 27th January - Touch

They have always been close. Before they even parted, Arya‘s face would flush because of Jon. They were always hugging and Arya had a tendency to shower Jon with a rain of kisses. She was the only one who could always make him smile, enough that the memory of her laughter warmed him on the long road north towards the Wall. But after they reunite after missing each other so much, how will they act? Will they still hug and kiss each other so much? Will Arya creep into Jon’s room to share his bed to find comfort? Would lying next to each other be the only way for them to get a full night of sleep void of nightmares? Are they openly affectionate in public just like when they were children? How would the others react to their closeness? They seem a bit too close for a brother and a sister. In modern times, how will they suppress their affections for each other in front of their family and friends? Or will they not even notice when they’re cuddling on the couch long after they should probably have outgrown it? Or being in the military, especially as commanding officer and new recruit, will they forever just rely on social media DMs and lingering touches in the hallway?

Jonrya Week is on 25th to 31st January 2020

Here are some themes and what they could entail...

Tuesday 28th January - Mythology

Do you think Jon is the Azor Ahai? Arya is Nissa Nissa? No? Are they instruments of the Old Gods? How about R’hllor? Do you want them to deal with the repercussions of Arya becoming involved with the God of Many Faces? How will the Faith of the Seven affect them or the upcoming war? What if they, in a previous life, were part of the Myth of the First Men? The Winter Kings? What about Greek Mythology? Roman Mythology? Nordic? It could be a Modern AU with Jon as Hades and Arya as Persephone. Or they could be time travelers who get stuck in Ancient Valyria before its doom. They could be in a world of magic, in an Arthurian or a Harry Potter universe. They could even be Dr Who companions who deal with all the mythologies. Or live in a world where gods walk among them like in American Gods. Or they could be angels and demons like in Good Omens where they try to prevent the end of the world. Supernatural AU? You could use the Seven Deadly Sins like Lust and Greed.

Wednesday 29th January - Wounds

After everything they’ve been through, both of them carry deep and heavy wounds, some physical and others dark and hidden. How will they deal with it when they see each other’s scars? How do they cope with PTSD and the trauma of war and losing loved ones? How do they deal with Jon’s death and how it has changed him? When he was betrayed by men he considered brothers? How dark has he become? What about Arya’s trauma from witnessing so many horrifying things as a child? Or the fact that she’s being brainwashed and her identity is being destroyed by the House of Black and White? How would Jon react once he finds out that Arya had to train with courtesans? How do they handle grief, nightmares, and survivor guilt? This could be canon verse or AU. What if they were present when bad things happen to each other? If Arya was there when Jon nearly died, or Jon was there when Arya got blinded. Or in an AU, how do they deal with a Ramsay Bolton where it is Arya who gets imprisoned at Winterfell and not Jeyne Poole? Or simply, how do they deal with constant night terrors?

8 Weeks Until Jonrya Week!

Jonrya Week: 25-31 January 2020

Here are some themes and what they could entail...

Thursday 30th January - Soulmates

Jon and Arya are soulmates, in so many different ways. They could be the gift of the Old Gods to the world, as two sides of a coin, the promised heroes to the Wars of Ice and Fire. Being together in the end was always meant to be the reward of the gods for them, for their service to the realm. They could be born with identifying soul marks in their bodies, which are identical to each other. They could be soulmates through their direwolves, because Ghost and Nymeria were made for each other the same way that they were meant for each other. They could even be wolf-blooded where they are true mates, where Jon is the only Alpha for Arya who will soon present as a non-conforming Omega. The gods may have a plan for them, not allowing them to die until their union is fulfilled according to prophecy. In so many lifetimes, they could reincarnate and find each other again: from the Doom of Valyria, the Age of Heroes, the Wars of Ice and Fire, and up to modern-day Westeros where they find each other again. They could be cursed with immortality until they find each other again, probably even as vampires or fire wights. As normal modern day siblings or cousins, they could have similar dreams about their past selves, when they used to be a married king and queen. In every life they live, there is only one thing that never changes: they belong only to each other. They are soulmates.

Friday 31st January - Seasons

Their lives are a reflection of the seasons. Their childhood was the long summer where their innocence was tainted by the agony of being outcasts. They were childhood sweethearts although they didn’t truly know what this meant. As autumn came, so did the never-ending losses of their family members, as well as the wars, and the painful years of being apart from each other. Winter brought the danger of the Others, but also a long-awaited reunion. Spring was the time for dreaming. All these seasons could be at any points in their lives, from childhood, youth, and adulthood. They could be a King and Queen in the prosperity of their kingdom. They could be with their children: a brood of Northern little faces with impish grins and wild laughter. They could even be at the twilight of their years, reminiscing about a life well-lived. Centuries later, in a different lifetime, they could go through these same seasons too, from public displays of affection at the beach which annoy their friends and family, long walks in the forest during autumn, hot chocolate in the snowy winter, a spring wedding and a torrid and passionate honeymoon in the hot Summer Isles.
