friends to lovers never had a bad track. “scared i’ll ruin what we have” SLAPS. “friendship cuddles while secretly dying inside” BANGER. “teasing each other and holding eye contact for a little too long” KILLS ME. and don’t even get me STARTED on “screaming i love you in the middle of a heated argument.”

Fuck a break up, have you ever made a fantasy in your head only to realise that no such thing exists unless you write it only to realise you are shit at it and hate yourself even more than you ever have.
Same.

Writing prompt #5
You can see ghosts, but only a selected few. All of them have two things in common:
1) they were all brutally murdered.
2) they were all brutally murdered by the same person.
They say that they are there to stop you from suffering the same fate as them.

Writing Prompt #24
Screams of laughter echoed through the evil supervillain’s lair. One might think that the person laughing was the evil villain themselves, laughing maniacally as they thought up another evil scheme. But it wasn’t the evil supervillain. It was his henchman.
“GAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” the henchman screamed, laughing hysterically as his boss tickled his armpits with long, torturous nails.
“Now, now, Franklin, no need to scream,” the supervillain cooed, switching from his armpits to his ribs without warning just so poor Franklin would howl with more laughter. “There are two things you need to know around here.”
“WHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAT?”
“First of all, I don’t want to hear you skipping sleep in order to work more hours. I don’t want henchmen with bags under their eyes and poor reaction times. What if a superhero broke in?”
“OK! I’M SORRY!”
“The second thing you need to know is that you look cute when you’re laughing hysterically, so I’m going to make this a permanent part of your work day from now on!”
“NOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHO! YOU’RE EVIL!”
“Hmm, yes, that is why they call me a villain, darling. Now, who’s a ticklish henchman?”

Common tropes in writing
The chosen one: a popular trope in fantasy. This trope can be seen in Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Luke Skywalker, etc. They are normally someone who is part of a phrophecy that predicts the end of the world or something similar. They normally revolve their whole life around this task or phrophecy. This trope can be mixed up in a few ways. 1) the main character is told they are the chosen one, but it ends up that it is a lie, 2) the main character isnt the chosen one, but instead the side kick, 3) the main character is someone incredibly arragont and insists that they are the chosen one and gets themselves involved in every quest. There's a few other ways you can change this trope.
The secret heir/royal: a normal person, normally a teenager who grew up being bullied and ignored, finds out they are a either a royal, part of the royal family or a heir to some really rich company or a mafia. Really, this is a rather annoying trope due to how lazy people are with the explaining of how the character never knew about this.
The mentor: normally, the mentor is an old man who is seen as a teacher of sorts that prepares the main character for a conflict of sorts. Normally, at some point they get killed, leave to do a job of sorts or they retire, normally forcing the protagonist to realize they are ready to fight.
The dumb blonde: a character who is there solely to be a blonde who is dumb. This character has no purpose or life other than being incredibly dumb and normally they are incredibly feminine and "girly", which is incredibly sexist. It contributes to the stereotype that all blondes are dumb, which can be extremely hurtful.
The dark lord: a character who plans to destroy the world. Despite this they rarely have a motive other than just for the sake of being evil. They normally fail and end up dying. Their whole purpose is to cause conflict in the story that needs to be served.
Enemies to lovers: two characters are enemies, but always have sexual tension between them and one day they decide to do something about it and have sex. Normally, this is done wrong and instead of the characters being enemies, the two have a messed up and abusive relationship which is harmful for the both of them.

Underused tropes in writing
Main characters that dont have a traumatic childhood. I'm not saying that your character can't have bad things happen to them, but not everyone has enough trauma for 10 lives. Neither do they just dump it on someone they just met because it's 'love at first sight'
Antagonists that actually have a reason for why they do what they do. Not everyone is evil for the sake of it or just because one person stole their cookie when they were 6.
Main characters that are actually the villian. Even better if you involve an unreliable narrator into it. Not ever main character needs to be a hero with a perfect moral code. Some can be fine with killing to get their goal, Some can have messed up morals, etc.
Female protagonist who doesn't bash other females for being 'feminine' or liking a colour because it's deemed as 'girly'. A female can wear a dress and still kick ass, she can also like the colour pick and like flowers and still be a hero.
A scary looking character that is actually a 'good' guy and a sweet looking character that is a 'bad' guy. Apperance has nothing to do with you moral code. There can be a character wearing black robes, a permanent scowl on their face and have plenty of scars, but can be known as a soft guy who takes in orphans. Or a character dressed in pastel, making flower crowns 24/7, but is known for kicking dogs in their free time.
A male character who actually shows emotions without being seen a soft or unmanly. Just because a character actually shows emotions, positive and negative, doesn't mean they are weak.
'Dark magic' that is used for good and 'light magic' that is used for bad. It doesn't make sense to label a type of magic just because you think it's bad, a knife is dangerous, but its matters on the person who holds it on if its good Or bad. You wouldn't call a chef evil for using a knife to cut tomatoes, would you?
Villians who have followers or ''henchmen'' that work for the villian out of genuine loyalty rather than fear and respect. Yes, some people will follow them due to fear and respect, but some people will follow them due to loyalty.
Going with the one above about villians and loyalty: villians that are loyal to each other. Not all henchmen will betray the person they work for and not all villians will kill others for a small mistake. Found family can be used with antagonists, not just protagonists.
Male-Female friendships. Normally, the only time a friendship between a female and male happens is for it to become romantic or for it to be a male-female-male trio. Have two characters that are friends and love eachother, but not romantically. There's more types of live than just romantic.
A protagonist that isn't over-powered. Have a character with no magical abilities and put then into a world full of them. Have the character do things the hard way because they don't have magic to do it the easy way.

Things you can put in you writing to make it more intresting:
World building: you don't always have to have it, escpecially if its in a modern setting or your plot/genre/story just doesn't need it, but sometimes you can use world building to draw a reader in. It can also be used to explain why certain things happen due to said world building.
An unreliable narrator: this can be used to make the readers unsure about what is actually happening, also who they can and can't trust.
A subplot: your main plot is the main focus, but you can have a smaller, but still present plot that, while small, can give the readers more to look for. E.g. your main plot could be fantasy and then subplot romance. There are some main plots and subplots that dont make sense, but if you fit then together perfectly, it should.
Stop over thinking: over thinking wont help you write, if anything, it limits you and chains you down. Remember, the story is for you. If you want a steamy scene but worry about it not fitting into the plot because of something, take a break, stop thinking about it and sit back down and read what you already wrote. You may rewrite some parts and be able to fit it in or you may change your mind.
Write down your characters fears and use them: this can be used to make a character come to terms with inner self, become closer to loved ones, make a shocking discovery of sorts. Think about what this can cause for the character. Can this cause them closer bonds, or broken ones? Will they overcome this fear, or will it become stronger?
Don't say, show: 'Alex felt nervous' is lazy and boring. 'Alex shifted their weight between their legs, looking around the room as if looking for someone' sounds better and also, depending on how you do this, can say a lot about the character. It can tell us things about what they do when they feel embarrassed or sad, it can also be used later on to show how a character feels about another without saying it or making it incredibly ovidious.
Lesser used tropes: I'm not saying you can't use tropes like enemies to lovers or the chosen one, but it never hurts to either use a new trope every once in a while or to change things up a bit. E.g. have a chosen one trope, but the main character isnt the chosen one, but instead a sidekick.
Foreshadowing: foreshadowing is already a popular thing in litreature and for good reason. This can hint at all sorts of things, but escpecially death. Use it to hint at things in a subtle way and then BOOM! death, tears. Don't overuse it or make it ovidious, that's boring and a waste of time.

The PJO fandom became boring with these random rules "You can only ship canon pairings and nothing else!"
One thing that i miss about the old fandom is because at least back then, people could ship whatever they wanted. Percico, Jasico, Perachel, Thalico, Leyna, Jasabeth, Pipabeth....
But nowadays if you ship Valdangelo there are always a bunch of people commenting: "Ugh! Why do you ship this?!"
Sorry, but is not my fault if you can't ship anything outside of canon. You are destroying the creative freedom and imagination of the fandom with these "rules".
