➝ That Splinter in Your Mind.

“You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.” — Morpheus - The Matrix

That splinter in your mind, that confusion that still remains, even through all your research and spiritual endeavors, may come from not understanding the other-worldly higher-dimensional control and manipulation that has been exerted on this world for thousands of years. I have come across many different sources that explain this system of control, it is mentioned in various ancient scriptures, it is explained by the Gnostics, some Tibetan monks allude to it, some higher dimensional channeled beings talk about it, as do some modern day researchers, truthers and people with astral and etheric experience. Some of these controlling and manipulating other-worldly beings are referred to as the Archons by researchers - the Gnostics used that term.

This information is based on a great deal of research and connecting many dots. I know this is perhaps going to be a bit ‘way out there’ for some people, but it is just what you seem to end up with when you keep researching and going down the rabbit hole. If you haven’t heard some of this information before then, as with any new challenging concept, just allow yourself to contemplate it, or put in a little imaginary box for a later date if you want, but i would also suggest that - just like with any new concept - don’t just throw it away, it limits your ability to expand your mind. Some may not like what I have to say, it will conflict with some of their beliefs, but I am just giving people the opportunity to contemplate this and perhaps look into it themselves if they haven’t come across this information before.

The world, this Earth, will probably only really start making sense for you when you research and understand some of the complex, highly manipulative and technologically advanced, multi-dimensional control of humanity that has been coming from other-worldly beings, that are out of humans sight in the fourth dimension. Although this may sound like some sort of sci-fi movie - at some point, a long time ago, they came to Earth, and manipulated humanity, eventually taking over the Earth. They messed with humans DNA and genetics - taking away humans, what some would call, advanced spiritual abilities - such as telepathy, clairvoyance, third eye capabilities etc - so they could disconnect humanity from the other very loving sentient beings in the universe and from Source, and then easily control humanity.The good news is that all evidence suggests control is very much fading and coming to an end and we are moving collectively into a hugely expansive collective ascension process. It will all be exposed to the masses hopefully in the not too distant future with a disclosure.

The Earth has been a prison planet, a slave planet for thousands of years - amongst other things humans have been farmed for their energy - their energy of fear - these beings have, in a sense, fed off human fear. You only have to look out our economic and financial system - it is insane. The whole money debt system is an ancient slave system still being used today to enslave humanity. The deceptive and manipulative reincarnation cycle/process and the totally illogical wiping of soul memory between incarnations is a part of this complex system of control. Do you really think that in all the infinite universes this is the way souls evolve - having their memory wiped between physical lives, over and over again? What purpose does that serve other than making it very difficult to evolve your consciousness and see through the Archon’s control systems, lies and manipulations. And the only way you could escape the reincarnation process on this planet was to release all and every attachment to all physicality and all etheric and astral world experiences, every single last bit - what’s that all about? Does that seem logical to you?

Become more conscious, raise your vibration, love yourself, manifest a joyful life, let go of your fearful beliefs, become more loving to others, more forgiving, more appreciative, more compassionate, more service to others, that is very important - that helps to override the fear they continuously try to create, but also don’t become naive regarding the collective consciousness and its manipulators, all is not as it seems. Don’t believe what the mainstream media is currently telling you - it is pure manipulation, see through the lies, and in turn you help others see through the lies. It is control through fear. Become informed - don’t let them lower your vibration. Don’t let the manipulators divide humanity. Letting go of the fearful beliefs and loving yourself and each other = no food for the controllers. Humanity becoming united and informed = no control for the Elite.

These Western world’s so called ‘terrorist events’ are false flags, psyops, set ups, manipulations, deceptions - coordinated by, banking families, secret shadow governments and secret societies. Most of the larger scale shootings in America are not just false flags but total hoaxes, with not one person actually dying - they are so obviously hoaxes it insults human intelligence - all for the agenda of trying to get people to hand over their guns so they can have more control over the population. The same people who set up these events own the mainstream media and hollywood, and they understand the nature of humanity’s collective consciousness and how to manipulate it, to push forward certain agendas. These politicians in ‘power’ that you see in America, the UK, Israel, France, Germany etc, are the puppets, actors, deceivers for these banking families, shadow governments and secret societies who worship and serve these fading and dispersing other-worldly beings. They are getting desperate as the consciousness of humanity is increasing greatly because of new transformative consciousness raising energies that are hitting the Earth - that’s why you are seeing so many fabricated events, so called terrorist acts - to try to attempt to maintain some control and push through their controlling agenda - they want total control over all aspects of humanity.

I am not saying you should just take my word for it, if you feel so inclined educate yourself, research fearlessly - open your mind to possibilities - with your feeling centre open, connect to your intuition, with an open heart, with love, knowing that as you see through each lie and manipulation it benefits humanity’s collective and all your billions of human brothers and sisters - don’t allow it to lower your vibration though. If you do research this be prepared to perhaps let go of belief after belief, see where it leads you - some get to the secret societies, banking families and shadow governments manipulating the world, which some refer to as the Illuminati, which is great, but then they don’t go beyond that - if you can, open your mind and go beyond even that to who or what controls them? Truth is often stranger than fiction.

People often just don’t put the hours in, because this slave system that is in place keeps people very busy just trying to get by - or they get side-tracked by one of the many sets of prison belief systems. Religions - and sometimes even the non-religious spiritual belief movements or schools of thought - are there to side track you, to confuse you. And those in control, or should I say, those who are losing their control, have not been too worried if a few individuals get into some sort of altered states of consciousness through very prolonged meditation, as long as you aren’t awakening or igniting your disconnected DNA and your multidimensionality, and or your suppressed ‘advanced’ abilities - and they manipulate the astral too anyway. What they really do not want is you connecting with other advanced loving beings beyond Earth’s quarantine - the quarantine/energy grid around the Earth - created by the negative controlling beings using their otherworldly advanced technologies.

They just don’t want you to be able to see through the manipulation - alerting people to the control mechanisms they have and the illusions they spin. They don’t want to lose their energetic food source. But they can’t actually stop humanity reigniting their multidimensionality and spiritual abilities etc… as the consciousness raising energy that is hitting the Earth means they are fighting a losing battle.

So much of this world is a distraction - distractions are continuously set up purposely so you don’t work it out, to try and keep you in fear and a low vibration. They are there, behind the scenes, using their human puppets to continually trying to divide and confuse humanity and create a sense of fear and powerlessness, and keep humans so busy and in a stressful state you don’t have the time to work out their manipulation of world events. Stop allowing them to make humans unnecessarily fight or compete with each other - become service to others, rather than just service to self - it is much more uplifting and beneficial vibrational state for yourself and the collective. See through their lies, and then those lies lose their power over the collective consciousness.

They really don’t want humans to know about humans power - humans power to change things individually through the power of our thoughts, conscious intentions, imagination and emotions - and also collectively - they don’t want us to know the great transformative power of humanity’s united collective consciousness and the transformative power of the energy of Love. Loving group visualization meditations can have big effects on the collective consciousness. And to reiterate, all evidence suggests we are moving as a collective into a much more expansive multidimensional loving Earth experience, that the control and manipulation is falling apart, more and more people are waking up. Humans can help it fall apart and change more quickly if they unite, move into more loving states of being and open their hearts - combined with becoming more informed and discerning.

I remember in 2001, the late author and publisher of the Idaho Observer Don Harkins wrote about this question and published - "WHY CAN’T PEOPLE SEE THE TRUTH?"

With full credit given to the late great Don Harkins, here now are the newly updated “Nine Veils”.

Consider this: If this theory is correct, there are only about 60,000 people on the planet who have successfully pierced the sixth veil. The irony here is too incredible: Those who are stuck behind veils one through five have little choice but to view the people who have pierced the veils beyond them as dangerously insane. With each veil pierced, exponentially shrinking numbers of increasingly enlightened people are deemed insane by exponentially increasing masses of decreasingly enlightened people.

Adding to the irony, the harder a “sixth or better veiler” tries to explain what he is able to see to those who can't, the more insane he appears to them. And so now we know that it's not that our countrymen are so committed to their lives that, “they don't want to see,” the mechanisms of their enslavement and exploitation. They simply “can't see” it as surely as I cannot see what's on the other side of a closed curtain.

The purpose of this essay is threefold: 1. To help the handful of people in the latter veils to understand why the masses have little choice but to interpret their clarity as insanity; 2. To help people behind the first two veils understand that living, breathing and thinking are just the beginning and; 3. Show people that the greatest adventure of our life is behind the next veil because that is just one less veil between ourselves and God.

Musa and Stella: National gene bank

Being mixed children, Musa and Stella find it very difficult to reconcile the existence of one unified central library of genes that all babies are born from on Zenith. For one there are people in both of their cultures who would have objected to either of them being born (the Rai/Selenite conflict on Solaria and Musa being human/elf mixed) they find the gene bank to be a huge risk for cultural feud and eugenics driven bad intentions. Zenith claims not to filter for disabilities aside from congenitally lethal ones, but with little independent control of their proceedings, the purity of their actions is often hard to control

Layla: Religion

Everyone believes Zenith to be such a proponent of science over everything else, it is often forgotten that the majority of the planet’s countries are religious monotheists. But monotheists of different singular gods! Layla coming from a culture based on natural religion finds the concept of a “one man show” strange to begin with, but when you tell her they all have a different one true guy whose precepts they follow she is out.

Bloom and Flora: Public information channels

In theory, whole dedicated channels or airtime slots filled with facts and scientific information rather than mindless ads is an excellent idea. It aids the education of the population and reduces the amount of populist or fearmongering misinformation taking root. Flora and Bloom are just a bit apprehensive about how easy it is to slip half-truths into a stream of factual truth, seeing as the information stream is ever so slightly different between the Zenithian countries, each finding some other aspect of a scientific discovery important, or advocating the involvement of their countrymen in a project over everyone else’s.

Bloom and Tecna: High mortality

It is not that mortality rates are very high, it’s just that the proportion of /water/ related deaths among them is high. Technically this is not that unusual, seeing as 90% of the planet is water, but maybe exactly because of this, Bloom and Tecna would expect people to be more careful around the elements. Androsians, like any regular god fearing nation, respect the Sea over everything else. Their hubris mainly comes from an overall acceptance that the Sea can claim about anybody if it wants. People don’t tend to struggle against it when they think their times has come. (See King Teredor and Niobe just huddling in the flooding castle instead of escaping) What adds to it is also that the royal family are of course not the only ones with mer cousins, and especially young people will overestimate the capacity of their lungs while playing in the waters. 

Stella: Animism

In Androsian cultures objects made from natural resources retain their soul stemming from having been living things once, even after they are shaped into an object for human use. To Stella this is difficult to comprehend. Like sure wood is wood, it has been a plant once and its origin should be respected, but for her once wood becomes a bowl it becomes a thing, with no spirituality attached.

Musa and Flora: Blood feuds

No one is a stranger to historical conflicts, sure. Androsian blood feuds however have morphed into conflicts that are still “honoured” in modern days. Local kingdoms can claim feud rights to claim land and people from neighbouring regions, functionally enslaving residents. On a personal level people still get ostracised from communities for marrying wrong, upsetting elders or for the ever effusive reason of doing gender wrong. (Neither of them really understands this part of Androsian culture.) Musa is solidly in camp “you owe your parents piety” while Flora is a general opponent of the sentiment, they both feel that this goes a little bit too far. People need a community that won’t self-destruct over to their eyes minor infractions.

Domino

Layla and Tecna: Horse culture

Dominians love their horses and elks they keep for riding, select animals are kept as revered pets even. Coming from an island world, Layla never really saw a purpose in those animals. What does weird her out about this is that a good 40% of Domino’s population are centauri, who are - no matter how you look at it- half horse essentially. So how can Dominians be that enamoured with their equines while their neighbour could be equally hooved?

Musa and Stella: Cultural homogeneity

It goes without saying that all girls, including Bloom, stagger at the thought that the Dominian Empire enforces unity through extreme measures, not having shied away from extermination wars in their past. Once one dares to descend planetside despite that, the most staggering thing is that Domino truly... is like that. You get the same language, same customs and same products from one coast to another. It is staggering for Musa and Stella, whose homes have also at some point been empires encompassing several planets even, but the former members 

Flora and Bloom: Military culture

Domino operates on a dual leadership structure in which has legal head of the state and the leader of the military reigning beside each other with equal power. Complicating the situation, the Vazul, head of the armies is also the spiritual leader of the Church of the Dragonspirit, melding religion and military culture into a dangerous mix. Flora has never encountered anything like this before, while to Bloom this reeks like the worst parts of her adoptive home. It doesn’t feel like a good combination, less so seeing as in the current generation both positions are filled by Bloom’s parents, which isn’t really supposed to happen and is a rightfully criticised controversy.

Special mention: Earth

So many countries! 

That is probably what all the visiting girls were hung up about. Earth is unique even within the wide breadth of the Magic Universe, having an enormous habitable zone that spans almost the whole planet. The only other place that comes even near that title is Lynphea, but Lynphea is several times the size of Earth and houses slightly fewer inhabitants. The Word

Two thousand years ago, the marvels of the modern age would have been indistinguishable from magic; these are marvels we interact with every day without a proper appreciation for the incredible power that has been granted to us through the labour of our ancestors. Two thousand years ago, man was yet still wise enough to recognize magic when he saw it, and to call it what it is. Two thousand years later, the technological leaps that we have made make no lasting impression on a generation which has known them from birth, and modern man feels comfortable, even justified, in the claim that the efficacy of science has thoroughly dispelled the superstitious and primitive belief in magic.

As much as modern man may recognize how much his world differs from the world of his ancestors, he can never truly appreciate the sheer magnitude of his ascent because it has raised him above the clouds, and he has since forgotten how far he had to climb, mistaking the clouds for the earth and mankind for mere mortals. We think ourselves to be fools wandering through a spiritual wasteland without sign or sense, when in fact the opposite is true; we have cultivated a powerful magic called science that now bewitches us into thinking that it dictates all that there is or ever could be, and which furthermore deceives us into the false belief that this is the way things always were, and the way they were meant to be.

So, when the modern man hears the proposition that 'language is magic', he scoffs at it and fails to realize the profound reality which has been stated; 'magic isn't real', is his two-bit reply. I charge modern man with the crime of failing to appreciate the magic of technology and consequently I charge him with a blindness when it comes to the magic of language - a blindness which finds its origin in the very notion which is being doubted. For it is only by virtue of this magic of language that the models and ideas that modern man has about the world seem to him so utterly compelling, so undeniably real. It is this very magic of language which bewitches modern man into thinking that the language of science is sufficient to characterize the entire universe, and that there is nothing imperfect in this perfectly human construction, this empirical science. It is precisely the enchantment of language which leads man to doubt its magical properties, because when one postulates a world in which magic is excluded by definition, a curious thing occurs: he begins to inhabit just such a world, and he takes this world which his projections have wrought for him to be THE world, THE reality. He holds his conception of the world to be totalizing and in this one stroke he falls prey to the enchantment of his language, which cannot know its own limits and which sets for him the very boundaries of his existence, beyond which experience cannot go. This is the insight captured by Wittgenstein when he so aptly remarked "The limits of my language are the limits of my world."

Language is a hall of smoke and mirrors which is just as likely to reveal the true nature of any specific situation or profound puzzle as it is to hide that true nature behind the nature of one's own projections. It is by venturing deeper and deeper into this hall of mirrors that man has somehow become dissociated from his natural state: we have created an entire world full of things that work exactly as we understand and intend, and consequently we no longer believe in anything which seems to be impossible, because we have a greater sense than ever before of what IS possible. It's such a curious paradox, that it should be precisely that magical elevation of ourselves above the animal world, every single thing we have discovered and created, the world that we have transformed around us, which occasions us to believe that magic has no place in our terribly *modern* world. It is the fact of modernity, the fact of technology, which makes magic so unbelievable, because we say today - now we know, it never was. We have become so normalized to the magical effect we have, that we think it is somehow not magic when we make a plane fly or design the engine of a high performance car to produce unparalleled propulsion through time and space. So now, we cast light in every direction only to turn around and say that there is no such thing as the ability to 'cast' light, we produce it with electricity and harness it with our filament, and so we cast our light and we say, look - now we can clearly see, that there is nothing about the world that is impossible, and certainly not the ability to create light. This illumination is so common today that we fail even to recognize how profound the notion of 'light' was for men of the past, for whom night heralded a recurrent encounter with their own ignorance about the world.  But all these brightly lit streets WERE impossible for much of history, and it was only through the willingness of humans to believe in the impossible, and to attempt to bring it into being - despite the fact that we had no idea how it worked - that we have managed to construct this vast maze of technological progression which we now call civilization. And now that we have it, we not only fail to appreciate it, but we say that the fact that we managed to do it has proven that it was in fact within the realm of possibility, and because it is no longer deemed impossible - because it is no longer profoundly unknown - we deem that it is not now and never was magic to begin with. In other words, it is the very ease with which we work our magic today, that arcane understanding we wield, that we use to justify the non-existence of magic. It is the very success of our own arcane science, our own magic, that leads to our bewitchment by it into the false belief that it characterizes reality totally and that what is outside its framework is consequently impossible in the natural world.**

There is a reason why The Bible calls its teaching 'the word of god', and why the notion of logos as 'true speech' which 'brings the world into being' is essential to the christian doctrine. This reason was a primal recognition of the unbelievably creative power of language, most particularly of true speech; this creative potential, this capacity to transcend the world that we inhabit, the world that we understand, this POWER of language is precisely what was meant by the notion of 'the word'. The word is the way that we become conscious of ourselves and of our world, and in the very instant that it sets us free of old ideas which limited our reality, it is transfigured into a new set of chains. The word is the path that one takes towards Truth and understanding, towards enlightenment, and in this respect I am reminded of the power of the notion of the Tao. The word is the way towards transcendence, it is both freedom from limitation and limitation in itself; the word is the way that we are made capable of transcending our past selves, and it is the way that our ideal self can become realized in the present moment.

This is from the first verse of the Tao Te Ching:

"Existence is beyond the power of words To define: Terms may be used But are none of them absolute."

The word is the power, latent in all men, to define existence despite the impossibility of that task, to set the limit of the world so that we might function in it. So too is it the power to overcome this self-imposed limitation, the capacity inherent within us to grow and change and adapt to the world at large. The word is the power to see things as they are, to say how they are, and consequently it is the power to become masters of the world. Is it really so surprising that, now that we have become masters of this world of ours, we have forgotten that ancient origin of our power? Is it so surprising that language functions invisibly, so subtly guiding our every thought that even the best among us can scarcely even recognize it? Is it so surprising that the very power of language has blinded us to its power, because it has enslaved us to a conception of language which is just-so and nothing more. The word is the way, it is the path and it is the power that allows us to remake our image of reality anew, and indeed it is by this very power that we remake our image of ourselves, and ourselves in that image.

So let us remake it again, anew, and let us imagine ourselves as the gods our ancestors would have taken us for, as the magicians we once wrote about, as the masters of the world that we have truly become, but let us not forget: the word is the way - both the way we have come, and the way we have yet to travel. The word is the path we must walk, and it is the power of consciousness which elevates it above the darkness of ignorance and misunderstanding.

Why Aang didn’t kill Ozai

First of all we need to start with Katara and her desire and conflict with revenge for her mother Kya from being killed by Yon Rha, while Katara didn’t forgave Yon Rha for his murder of her mother, she didn’t KILL HIM IN COLD BLOOD. She even was willing to spare his life and learn how to forgive Zuko for his past actions while hunting Aang. Even Zuko told Aang that he was right about what Katara need and that VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER. Aang replied IT NEVER IS. Then Zuko asked him about when he faces his father Ozai. While Yon Rha killing of Kya is horrible, it was inventible Azulon wanted the Southern Water Tribe kidnapped and later geocide just like the Air Nomads. Just encase if the Air bender Avatar is truly dead along with later Hama terrorist attacks on the Fire Nation citizen. Yon Rha would have been replace like a cog in the machine if he refused to kill Kya. Even the other Southern Raider would have killed Kya instead and charge him with treason against His Flaming Majesty Fire Lord Azulon and send him back home to be executed by fire and lighting. An elderly Katara by TLOK probably forgave Yon Rha considering the she is smart and wise enough to understand the circumstance of the war and cultural of the Fire Nation Military Junta. You don’t have to forgive the actions, to forgive the person, BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN CHANGE IN TIME!

Aang not killing Ozai goes against Air Nation spirituality and all life is sacred mentality of his people. If Aang killed Ozai it would have shown that the Fire Nation way of using there power for VIOLENCE AND DEATH IS CORRECT. It would have made OZAI A MARTYR TO HIS PEOPLE. Even FIRE NATION COLONIAL WITH EARTH KINGDOM BLOOD WERE WILLING TO ASSASSINATION ZUKO FOR OZAI AND WERE LOYAL TO HIM EXTREMLY. Ozai may be a Racist, Genocidal, Bigot, Child Abusing monster in OUR EYES, BUT HE IS COMPLETELY NORMAL IN THE FIRE NATION! In the Fire Nation you are raised to see yourself as superior to other Fire Nation citizen especially sub-human” Earth Kingdom “FILITH”  and Water Tribe “SAVAGES”.

The Moral dilemma was SOLVED WITH ENERYBENDING. Cope out? Sure, but Aang could have simply trap and bound Ozai’s hands and feet with Earthbending and keep him imprison in the Boiling Lake guarded with Earth Kingdom guards like the Dai Lee. Aang kept true to himself and his Air Nomad ideal unlike Avatar Yangchen who was biased toward human and neglect spirts and led to “dark” spirits attacking humans who trampled on their land and customs. Avatar Kuruk has a short 30 years old lifespan for fighting the dark spirits that Avatar Yangchen caused!

Zuko as FIRELORD in the Finale confronted his father Ozai and TOLD HIM TO HIS FACE “PERHAPS SOME TIME IN HERE [PRISION] WILL MAKE YOU CHANGE AS I HAVE FOR THE BETTER”. Zuko just like the Avatar originally believe that Aang HAD to kill Ozai for the safety of the world. He wanted Aang to be able to do it if necessary and he is still rightfully angry at his dad for the Agni burning and banishment.

Even if one could go back in time and kill Hitler. You won’t change the racism, prejudice, and anti-Semitism that Germany, Austria-Hungry, Russia and etc had for the Jewish people. Ozai could have killed Hakoda, Bato, Mai, Ty Lee and had them thrown into the Boiling Lake instead he had them imprison even allowed them have sunlight and social time on the prison yard. By all means, Ozai should have had Hakoda and Bato drawn and quarted and disembowled  with their heads on spikes. Mai and Ty lee should be sent to the Royal Palace as possibly concubines or slave wards. AVATAR IS A KID SHOW WHICH IS WHY THIS DIDN’T HAPPEN!

Aang spared Ozai NOT because Ozai deserved it but because the Air Nomad ideal are WORTH IT! AND TO PROVE TO THE FIRE NATION THAT THE AVATAR IS NOT A RUTHLESS, KILLING MONSTER, BUT A KIND GENTLE YOUNG MAN! THAT WANTS TRUE PEACE IN THIS WORLD NOT BY THE EASY WAY OUT BY VIOLENCE AND DEATH... The Heroes of Les Mis: Part 2

Part 2 of a response to @aflamethatneverdies; part 1 over here!

The Amis are the Heroes , the characters from the age of the Epic, the Tragedy, Fatality; and the Amis die to end that age. But that doesn’t mean Hugo is dismissing the revolution or the Republic as obsolete!  

What follows the Age of the Epic is, per Hugo, the Age of the Drama, defined by an awareness that...well,  time to quote the Preface to Cromwell again: 

Another era is about to begin, for the world and for poetry...And first of all, as a fundamental truth, it teaches man that he has two lives to live, one ephemeral, the other immortal... It shows him that he, like his destiny, is twofold: that there is in him an animal and an intellect, a body and a soul; in a word, that he is the point of intersection, the common link of the two chains of beings which embrace all creation—of the chain of material beings and the chain of incorporeal beings; the first starting from the rock to arrive at man, the second starting from man to end at God.

..."Thou art twofold, thou art made up of two beings, one perishable, the other immortal, one carnal, the other ethereal, one enslaved by appetites, cravings and passions, the other borne aloft on the wings of enthusiasm and reverie—in a word, the one always stooping toward the earth, its mother, the other always darting up toward heaven, its fatherland"—on that day the drama was created.

.. the poetry of our time, is, therefore, the drama; the real results from the wholly natural combination of two types, the sublime and the grotesque, which meet in the drama, as they meet in life and in creation. For true poetry, complete poetry, consists in the harmony of contraries

For  Hugo one of the Big Ideas at the heart of his whole Epochal Progress Theory was that the modern soul and modern art were and should be made more complete than previous eras by including "the grotesque"- a concept that basically includes everything that isn't Beautiful And Good And Orderly. Suffering, deformity, obscenity, chaos, anarchy --any True Drama and any true modern morality  had to find space to combine the two. 

Who's left of the Amis, after the end of The Heroes, when the Epic is over?

Enjolras-- who, more than any of the others, IS the Republic, and who,after  having been introduced as an untouchable being of  almost pure Ideal,  being linked with angels and goddesses and Divine Right, has spent his time on the barricade going through  stages of his own rapid descent from The Ideal to Humanity, suffering, sympathy, human concerns, who has through all this entered the supreme Melancholy, the  true, unique emotion of the new era

And Grantaire, of course-- who is and has been from the start the despair and doubt and apathy to Enjolras' faith and divine purpose, the Grotesque to all that Sublime.

The end of the battle, thematically, is not the fall of the barricade, or the death of the other fighters. 

The end of the battle-- the last real beat before we move back to Valjean, who has never  been the Epic Hero, here, because he  is something else entirely-- is OFPD. 

The end of the battle is when the Grotesque sees and fully accepts the power of the Ideal, when the Sublime smiles and takes the hand of the Grotesque not in pity but in love.  That’s the end, because that’s the victory,  the change of eras. That’s  transcendence, divinity through unity of opposing principles.   That’s  the Republic becoming the worthy dream of the living future, instead of the faded glory of the Epic past.

This is the spiritual and thematic opposite of Napoleon stumbling away from Waterloo, confused and alone. This is why OFPD is tragic, yes, but still a triumph, it's the promise that those who die on the barricade will be born again. It's the moment of Era Shift where the ideal moves into the future.  It's why the Republic gets to be The Future, instead of just an echo of the Epic Past. 

And it can't happen if the Amis aren't Epic, aren't Heroes, first. Because this is about metamorphosis, the completion of the incomplete.  This is something Enjolras and the other Epic characters have to do for the narrative and its message.

Valjean can’t do this, Marius can’t do this, because they are already from the start  characters of a Drama. They are not Epic-- they are neither that ideal nor that incomplete! Valjean is a Christ-figure from the start-- Voila, Jean! Here is the man!-- and Marius is possibly the most human  figure of the novel, not Grand or Great or any kind of embodied ideal. Valjean, Marius, Eponine, Javert--  they’ve got to deal with the struggle between the sublime and grotesque internally, find their own way to unity and their own individual path to the ideal. They don’t get to have the simplicity of the Epic. They, like us, have to live--get to live-- the human drama.

(An Addendum, which I include mostly because it's you, @aflamethatneverdies, who asked,  and I know you care as much as me)

This whole transformation of the Epic Past to the Dramatic Present via the crucible of the barricade  may seem to somewhat shortchange two of our group of Heroes: Bahorel and Prouvaire, who don't live long enough to partake in the full Epic.  Given that their deaths actually get noticed--and Prouvaire in particular is given a whole chapter!-- this can hardly be written off as an accidental slip. 

It's long been my theory that they die ahead of time because (among other issues of narrative/theme/etc) because they don't need this .  They're already Romantics!   Prouvaire's whole thing  is Melancholy, the feeling unique  (again, per Hugo) to the Dramatic Age. Bahorel's first line of dialogue  is "Down with Tragedy--!"-- Tragedy, the art of the Epic.   Prouvaire, who is Above All Good, is rightly the Sublime of the two of them-and he's already comfortable with absurdity, humanity, the role of the grotesque to strengthen the ideal. That's what Romanticism is, really.   Bahorel would be the side of the Grotesque here, with his anarchic chaotic spirit--except he's also a serious idealist, who's already fully committed to serving the good and true.   They've gone on ahead of the other Amis in so many ways well before the barricade, and so they're free to go ahead in the most final way.

Mass Awakening is the Cabal’s greatest Fear

The awakening is erupting. Being awake comes with a price. It may have been difficult and painful going through the stages of awakening, but convincing others by challenging circumstances and conditions to open the eyes and minds of others is even more difficult. It has become a struggle against time when awake and one sees all the injustices that could have easily been avoided.

It’s very sad to see unawakened people being tossed to and fro, without having a clue as to what is really going on. But even that is an “engineered” shake-up designed by the Deep State. Nevertheless, that should help every one of us to come to our senses and surpass this false reality. Millions are flocking to alternative news sources to try to make sense of what’s going on, stumbling across realities they never considered possible, or could have ever imagined before.

If the truth be known, the awake are responsible for sharing it ardently, but also for doing it with a passion. Not always pleasant, but a duty that must be done. The hour is late and the timeframe we are living in is terrible, the necessity brings forth optimal awareness and swift action. There’s no alternative left.

The world is bankrupt financially, economically, and morally, but through manipulation and deceit, people are led to believe that all is well. It’s absolutely absurd that all the bubble assets are at such astronomical highs, while wealth-preservation assets like gold and silver have been totally annihilated through manipulation. The elite and the media continuously fool the people regarding the state of the world.

Anger, hatred, aggression and fear are the food source of the Archons

The tactics employed are comprised of manipulating economies, trade and the masses through fear: fear of war, fear of starvation, fear of economic collapse, imprisonment and death. This state of mind has directed and shaped global events for centuries and has become the standard operating procedure. This process of enslaving civilisations is contrary to the survival drive of humanity and suppresses the natural instinct of all humans to do good and be kind to each other.

Do not view all this madness from a foundation of fear; this will just make you angry and aggressive, which in turn will lead to violence and a perpetuation of this madness. It is hard to remain calm when faced with the hard truth, but it’s what must be done, in order to safely get through this. Anger, hatred, aggression and fear are the sort of emotions that have led to this madness and it is the food source of the Archons. Stop feeding them and help to change our world view completely. In this way, we will change everything for the better, by changing our way of thinking.

Bear in mind; the real purpose of government is, always and everywhere, to enable the few to exploit the many. The credit money system is a clever way of doing so. The bureaucracy will continue to churn out laws, statutes, codes and regulations that reinforce its powers and value systems and those of the police state and its corporate allies, rendering the rest of us petty criminals. The average citizen unknowingly commits three felonies a day, thanks to this overabundance of vague laws that render otherwise innocent activity illegal. As an example, small farmers who dare to make unpasteurised goat cheese and share it with members of their community will continue to have their farms raided.

The Mainstream Media, the last bastion of the “Deep State”

The Mainstream Media is the last bastion of the “Deep State” organised crime network that, over the years in the past, has infiltrated and hijacked most, if not all institutions. But, their days are numbered and the ensuing collapse will most likely be violent and shocking to all those unaware of what is unfolding.

The principal source of the Deep State’s power is their control of the process of creating and distributing money, i.e. their ownership of almost all of the world’s central banks, and multinationals. They have used this money-power to bribe, blackmail and assassinate people at top levels of power in order to enforce their control. They also control the corporate media and have been using every propaganda tool at their disposal to rig society and markets where necessary.

Fortunately, trust in the mainstream media has fallen to an all-time low and continues to plummet. Much of this has to do with an increasingly aware and disgruntled public: More and more people are able to discern a mainstream media totally lacking integrity, thanks to the rising popularity of the independent/alternative media, exposing the dishonesty.

People are increasingly seeing right through the various media sources with their dogmatic, unhealthy sceptics, shills, trolls, pseudo-debunkers, controlled opposition agents, biasing, filtering and in-your-face lies; intended to sell us the spin of disinformation to keep people ignorant, deceived and helplessly anaesthetised in the world’s matrix controlling system.

The real question is how do we become conscious?

Our overwhelming, uncontrollable mass awakening is what the world’s ruling elite fear the most. Since we greatly outnumber them and their associates, they wouldn’t know how to deal with our vast numbers, even with their advanced technology. As a result, the real question is how do we become conscious?

Since ancient times, under the ruling thumb of the world’s Black Nobility or dark overlords, humanity has been hacked, stymied, suppressed and coerced into submission through mind controlling, soul destroying atrocities. Those unable to see that just about every matter under the sun is a deception, that their family and friends are affected in every way imaginable; those who don’t yet realise the extent to which the dark overlords have us tightly stitched up, are indeed about to experience the shock of a lifetime when this entire fraudulent system comes crashing down. What they have clung to as a reality will soon sink into the abyss of Grand Deceptions.

Simply, become conscious by choosing it. By acting on those synchronicities better known as meaningful coincidences. By acting on that which calls, moves and inspires us. Taking action through listening to our inner voice, coming from our inner being; paying attention to our gut feelings and basic instincts.

Choosing to become conscious means detaching one’s self from the mind control programming; escaping the effects of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual prison matrix woven around us by the Globalist’s oppression.

Breaking free from the mind programming and the imposition of others, with multidimensional consciousness, escaping the dualistic confinements of matter, energy and space-time, anything is possible, and the Truth will be revealed. Creating a driving desire to find out more about the truth regarding what is going on in our world. Seeing that the world is in a mess and we are all plodding along, business as usual, expecting someone else to sort it all out. Most of us are too busy earning money and surviving, as surviving, by design, takes up all our time. Most people cannot seem to see beyond that and that is why we are in this mess in the first place.

We have all been manipulated and played. We have all been mesmerised, hypnotised and turned into consumer-driven slaves. Making money for the large corporations and the 0.1% rich of the world is the name of the game, or so we have been programmed. Each day they get richer and richer, finding new ways, like global warming and CO2 emission taxes, to force us to part with our hard-earned money; they are very clever at it. They know how to manipulate the human mind, they know how to get us to spend our money and we don’t even realise it is happening.

Governments extract far too much money from us, and we use almost all of our time on Earth working for this money. They leave every family with a small amount to spare, while the really wealthy manage to avoid paying their taxes through carefully engineered loopholes.

The real purpose of government is, always and everywhere, to enable the few to exploit the many. The money system is a clever way of doing so.

We all are Slaves to the System

The modern world of industry, commerce, and investment works on win-win software. Only governments with their conflicts, wars, taxes, tariffs, ‘do-this laws’, and ‘don’t-do-that prohibitions’, continue to operate on pre-civilised programming. It is a relic, an institution with a ‘grab whatever we can grab’ mentality.

A trade war is just as phony as a war on drugs, a war on crime, or a war on terror. None are worth fighting for. And none are winnable. It is meant to reward the elite at others’ expense. Nothing more, nothing less. Think of it, we are all, quite simply, slaves to the system! The people at the bottom are paying for the people at the top to keep their lavish life styles. We pay our taxes and any money that is left over is coveted by major corporations.

We are bombarded with adverts continuously, telling us to buy more stuff we don’t need. We are encouraged to spend, spend and then spend some more. We replace everything, even when it doesn’t need replacing. We need to get out of this mentality.

We need to re-cycle, re-use and make do with what we have. We have all been brainwashed into this consumerism insanity. It’s all been smoke and mirrors, mind-games, played out on the world stage, aiming to keep us all in a state of awe and fear.

We all want to be free, healthy, educated, and live in a peaceful society

Our subconscious minds have been conditioned to see only what differentiates us, rather the things that bind us. Believe it or not, we’re extremely similar in all aspects.

We may come from different backgrounds or different cultures, but we all have the same basic values in life. We all want to be free, healthy, educated, to live in a peaceful society and to have access to the basic necessities for survival. That’s about it. Wherever we live in the world. Basically, all we really want is to be happy and healthy.

Instead, we have wars, hunger, insecurity, homelessness, and many around the world don’t have access to clean water and food. And it’s all by design because, people who are constantly “on the edge” don’t have time for self-education, introspection and eventually spiritual awakening.

We all are the victims of mass propaganda and brainwashing. It has reached the point where families choose to believe the media and the governments of the world, rather than members of their own family and friends who have woken up to the truth and are attempting to warn them and awaken them.

The truth can be frightening and that is why people want to avoid it. They would rather stick their heads in the sand like an ostrich, believing that as long as they choose not to look at it, it will not exist. Unfortunately for them, Truth has a way of existing, even in the face of ridicule and denial. It does not need the approval of a counterparty to become legitimate. Truth simply Is. Once you know the truth, you can never go back, even if you want to. The truth cannot be unseen; once seen, the truth stays with you forever. In any event, be assured, the truth will come out in the end, as it always does.

The truth comes at a cost – it will end all the lies and the illusions that people previously based their entire lives on. And that is an on-going process. – Many feel lost and afraid right now all across the spectrum of humanity. This deliberate creation of chaos is designed to do just that. However, parallel and simultaneous to their psychotic designs, a massive arousal of the human spirit is occurring, spurred on by an arising of conscious awareness and a deep sense of growing personal realisation and empowerment.

Most may not recognise these rising, seemingly confusing energetic changes, as being the creative process at work, but it is, THE GREAT AWAKENING. First, preceding this creativity is a destructive process, eliminating everything that is unreal and inhibitive of personal development and progress. These two dynamics work alongside each other.

The Elite see us as their slaves, our sole purpose being to provide them with our energy money, so that they can follow their master plan, bringing about the New World Order.

We have procreated very well and are now, in their view, overrunning the planet, so they now want to cull a large number of us. Hence GMO’s, fluoride, chemtrails, vaccinations and the endless wars; all these things lower our immunity for whatever they have planned for us.

They want us to be in a state of eternal slumber, hypnotised and brainwashed by their omnipresent propaganda and most of us have unwittingly complied with their wishes. But, we are more powerful than them and they know it, which is why they have been so patient. Humanity is waking up, slowly but surely.

One of the reasons humanity cannot grasp what is going on, is because these creatures are so evil, that it’s hard to believe just how vile they are. And people are actually right in their disbelief of these atrocities: human beings cannot be this cruel!

Humans are not at the pinnacle of this diabolical plan, it is a Reptilian agenda, and Reptilians cannot experience positive emotions. They are simply unable to care for others or to experience noble emotions, such as love or empathy. They are driven by fear, hate, rivalry and competition. The truth is far stranger and more incredible than we can imagine, say whistle-blowers like Corey Goode.

Will our mass awakening to the deception produce a turnaround, into a world that makes a difference for everyone? A world where there are no predators, no controlling hierarchy, no blood-sucking vampires, slave-drivers at the top, ruling the enslaved at the bottom. No more fighting for self-sufficiency, because we will achieve everything in the communities we live in.

It is up to all of us to contribute our part.

Genesis 3:1-4:26, Matthew 2:13-3:6, Psalms 2:1-12, Proverbs 1:7-9

Today is the 2nd day of January, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it's great to be here with you as we take step number 2 of 365 steps that will lead us not only through a year of our lives together, but through the entire Bible. So, obvious, this is our second step. So, we just set sail, just kind of moving out of the harbor, land is still in sight, we’re headed out into the deep. And we realize that even as we began this journey yesterday, even on day one, the Bible gives us plenty of things to consider. And, so, here we are now to take the next step, day two. We’re reading from the New Living Translation this week and our next step is back into the book of Genesis and we’ll read chapters 3 and 4 four today.

Introduction to the book Matthew:

Okay. This brings us to the New Testament, and we began the book of Matthew yesterday, but we didn’t spend any time kind of flying over it or just kinda understanding the context of it very much because we were focusing on Genesis. And we’re just kinda getting moved in, we’re just getting moved into this year. So, let's talk about Matthew for a second before…before we read it. So, Matthew is obviously the first book found in the New Testament but…but Matthew is part of a grouping of four books that are the first four books of the New Testament. These are called the Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and they each give us an account of the life of Jesus. So, we get this wonderful benefit at the beginning of the year to begin moving our way through the Bible alongside of the stories and messages of Jesus our Savior. Matthew was one of the apostles of Jesus. So, Matthew…well…he was eyewitness, rights? He had first-hand knowledge of the events that…that he recorded in the book of Matthew. And Matthew had a…had a radical transformation in the presence of Jesus, previously had been a tax collector. So…so, he was not well-liked socially but then this Rabbi comes along to this person who is not liked socially at all and invites him to come and follow him. So, he does. So, this…this first witness, this first gospel of the life of Jesus that we have, Matthew, is coming from a man who had a decent life. Although he was not well-liked, he had steady reliable paycheck. He was working for the Roman government and there were plenty of perks that went along with that. He was pretty much able to abuse the people by extracting taxes that were more than they owed kind of at will. So, although he was not like he was fairly well connected and was making some money. And he left, he just left, he left it all and took the leap of faith to follow a man that he believed was the son of God. So, that's who's writing us this book. That's the story that’s being told and the story is…it is aimed at Hebrew people, so Jewish believers. And the Hebrew Scriptures we…we would we would understand them as the Old Testament today. And the gospel of Matthew quotes from the Old Testament more than any of the other Gospels do because the book of Matthew, it seems that its mission is to show Jesus fulfilling the Mosaic law and fulfilling the prophecies of one to come, a Messiah, an Anointed One, a Deliverer. And we’ll get to know this Jesus pretty well in the book of Matthew. There…there are over 20 parables. These are wisdom stories that Jesus told, and we’ll encounter them. And Jesus also begins speaking about something that we won't really stop speaking about the entire year and that is the kingdom of God, the kingdom of heaven. And Jesus said that it was near and that it was now that it was happening and that it was present within and among us. And we'll talk about that. But for now, that gives us a little bit of context for…for the territory ahead in the book of Matthew. And, so let's get to that. Today we will read chapter 2 verse 13 through chapter 3 verse six.

Commentary:

Alright, there are probably a number of directions we could go in today, plenty of things to talk about but we probably need to stick in the book of Genesis because we saw a story today that…that…that changed…that changed the story, that changed everything and affects us today profoundly. So, yesterday we had this little rare glimpse into a time of perfection and then today we saw that come to a close. So, like, we don’t have to go blow-by-blow, this is one of the most famous stories in the Bible. So, there's a serpent, there's a tree and there’s a man and there's a woman at that tree looking at that tree and there’s a serpent’s asking questions. “Did God really say you couldn’t do this”, right? “Did God really say you…you can't eat this?” So, he’s responding, “yeah, he did say that, that we can't eat it, we can’t touch it, we’re not supposed to do any…anything like this or we’ll die. Okay. What we are about to see is a shift in consciousness, a shift in awareness of how things work. So, prior to this event, Adam and Eve, God's children, His first children are in complete union and intimacy with Him, in fellowship with Him, they don't understand the concept of separation from God. They've never known anything like that. It's not a category for them. The idea that…that rebellion against God, disobedience, would carve a chasm between them and God, like they had never experienced sin or its repercussions. They wouldn't even have known what…what that was or wasn't like. They’d have to have faith that sin existed because they had no experience with it other than God's warning, “don't eat…like…like…you can have whatever you want, I've made this entire place for you to explore and enjoy and steward and care for, and you can have it all, except this one tree, this one tree with this one fruit.” So, a couple of really important things to just kinda begin to wrap our minds around because they affect our journey through the Bible continually. So, this tree. It’s really easy to wrestle inside of our minds about this tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Why put a tree with…with such dire consequences in front of these people to tempt them when they don't really know what's going on? So, what's the point here? What's…why the tree? And now we have to take a step back and just explore love and just explore relationship. And those things we as human beings are still experiencing and so we…we all know what these are. And, so, we know that love is not something that can be coerced out of some…someone, right? Like you could not enslave a person and…and…and be brutal to them and tell them that they will not stop receiving this kind of treatment until they love you, right? Because that person's going to do whatever…like at some level they will behave in whatever way they think you want them to behave, but that wouldn't actually be love. That would be modifying behavior to look a certain way to simulate whatever the aggressors trying to get. Love, like actual love is something that can only be given freely. Like, you can't sell your love. You can sell your body. But that…that's not selling love. You can't sell love. Love is given, its freely given and requires a choice to love. And love does not enslave, love actually can't be love if there is no way out of it, right? Like if there is no way out, well then, you’re entrapped and that isn’t love. So, God creates humanity on this planet, created in His image and He loves them, but true love has to be given back freely and love isn't love if there is no way out. And, so, we have this tree in the garden and God’s simply saying, “just don't eat this. Just trust me in this one thing. The rest of the world is yours, its your playground, its perfect, its how I intended it to be for you, just don’t eat this one thing. This is their way out and they took it. And what I said a second ago, that what we are reading here in the third chapter of Genesis is a shift in consciousness. I mean, I know that sounds kind of…kinda weird, like “okay…okay what…what kind of spiritual path are we gonna be walking here as we walk through the Bible here?” Let me just go back to the Scriptures here and let's look at this story. The serpent told Eve after she had replied that they shouldn't eat it or touch it, or they'll die. the serpent said you won't die, which is a complete contradiction to what God said. So, all of a sudden, this possibility of a different reality is introduced and then the serpent attempts to describe what that reality would be like. And I'm quoting from the Bible. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon you eat it and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” So, the serpent is fundamentally saying there is another reality that God has kept from you, has withheld from you that you are not aware of. This God is maybe keeping secrets from you, things that you might need to know, things that you should probably be aware of. And He doesn't want you to eat from this tree now because you'll die because you will become aware of things that you are not aware of. You will have a shift in consciousness or in awareness. And, so, they ate. And I am again quoting the Bible. “At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness.” Okay. So, in fact their consciousness shifted, and they became aware of things they had not been aware of before and the first thing they felt was ashamed. And the next thing they did was figure out how to cover themselves. Boom! That is how life on earth is lived today – naked, ashamed, and trying to hide. Look at your own life and see if it's not true. Heck, look at the technologies we use, look at social media, a wide-open platform for us to lie about our lives, to curate our lives and make them look like they are different or better in some way than they actually are. But that’s just like a modern iteration. And believe me, I’m not like bashing social media, we’re on it too. All I’m pointing out is, look how easy it is to hide. And here’s the thing about hiding, you can't be known if you're hiding. And the thing is, we as people created in the image of God deeply, deeply desire to be known and understood and accepted. In fact, that's why we hide. Because we believe that if all were revealed then that the end of us. And we’re not realizing that we are all, everyone, we are all trapped like this. The good news though about that is that there actually is good news about that, and we will be exploring that good news as we continue forward into the life of Jesus.

Prayer:

Father, we thank You. We thank You for bringing us successfully into this new year. And here we are, this brand-new year, we’re just moving in and You are already…You are already right here with us explaining things, unpacking things and helping us to move forward and we are so grateful. And today we...we did, we witnessed something very, very sad, something that really, really changed the course of humanity, and we acknowledge that we can see those repercussions, like it…we see this now. And it's easy for us to just go, “okay, let's move from there to Jesus and let's find how I get my salvation”, but we’re pausing here for a second Father and acknowledging the heartbreak that You must've felt in these moments that we read about today where You had loved and given of Yourself and in some way it was communicated that You aren't not enough. And, so, humanity, we…we have run around trying to fill every void and prepare for every eventuality with all of our knowledge of good and evil and we have filled our heads with knowledge that is simply not revealing Your kingdom. We are not moving forward without You because we can't. And, so, we bear witness to a very, very, very sad scene that we find in the Bible today and we invite Your Holy Spirit to allow us to sit with the repercussions and understand and begin to understand the story that we are getting ourselves into as we move forward into the Bible. Come Holy Spirit we pray in the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.

Hello DAB family, hello Brian and Jill and Merry Christmas to everyone. This is Tracy calling from Edmonton Canada. I would like prayer for something that I’m doing for Christmas. My family is all coming over, I’m hosting everyone for the Christmas dinner and we weren’t going to be exchanging gifts and I just felt strange about that and I remembered that I had purchased about 10 copies of the Sneezing Jesus hoping that I would either do a Bible study or something. Anyway, I realized I have these and so that is what I’m giving out to each of my family members most of whom are not saved. So, my prayer request is that you just pray over these books and the people that I am giving them to that they will see Jesus in this new light and that there will be opportunities for the Holy Spirit to speak within them and that they may reach out back to me if they have questions or want to talk about it. But I left it as no pressure. So, I would love prayer for that. I would love to see all of my family members come to see the glorious faith and the saving power of Jesus. Good morning DAB family it’s Terry the trucker it’s Christmas Eve morning and I am in Brady Mississippi heading to the house, 6 ½ hours and I’ll be home. So, Merry Christmas to each and every one of you. I’m a little late, but better late than never. Annette Allison, congratulation on your grandbaby. So glad to hear that all is going well despite the circumstances under which the baby was born. That is truly a blessing and I pray that continue. Diane Olive Brown, my heart broke when I heard you just start speaking. I could tell by the sound of your voice that something wasn’t right. You broke my heart to hear what you said. I lost my dad many years ago. I was at my anniversary dinner with my wife and I got the call, unexpected but nonetheless very painful. But to know that someone is in their last days makes it harder. I pray that you get to go spend time with him and I pray that God comforts you. Just like you said, God don’t ever leave us, we know He’s there. But we’re human. It’s hard. It’s not to hurt and be sad. So, I want you to know I’m lifting you up in prayer. I’ll be praying for you daily. I love my DAB family and I’m praying for each and every one of you. God bless you.

This is Lori from Central Ohio and I’ve been listening often on for a few years, but this is the first year that I have successfully maintained through the entire year. As Brian chose the word maintain this year, I initially thought I’m just going to maintain, I’m going to maintain a job I was considering stepping away from, I was going to maintain a number of things but what I did not realize at the time was it was to maintain growing closer to God. This year brought the DAB supporting me through my sister’s cancer, Joni, and her death. It has brought me through strength as my son has faced legal issues. Hey…I’m calling in for some…some prayer requests and my name’s Jim I’m from Ohio and I’ve been a DAB listener…gosh it’s going on 10 years now and I just…it’s Christmas Eve so I want to wish everyone a blessed and happy Christmas. A really good friend of mine I’ve known for a long time way back from our days in the Marine Corps, his wife Gina is…went into the hospital last night and she had a brain aneurysm and she was in the OR for seven hours and they still aren’t able to correct it and she’s…she’s in a very tough situation. And Glen, my friend, he’s her husband and their two daughters are the same age as my two daughters and their college students. They’re really going through an awful lot right now, especially Christmas Eve. I just came from the hospital and she…she needs a lot of prayers and their family. So, yeah, just please pray for Glenn and Gina and her daughters Holly and Chloe. And, so, yeah, that’s, that’ I what I wanted to do, just ask everybody to pray for them. The Mayan creation myth is translated from their ancient writtings in a text called the “Popul Vuh” which describes their cosmology which can be sumerised as follows:

The world was without life only the sky and sea existed but both were empty. The text goes on to say there were “makers in the sea, together called the plumed serpent” (“plumed/feathered serpent” refers to the God Quetzalcoatl) and that there were “makers in the sky, together called the “Heart of Sky” and that these forces, Quetzalcoatl and Heart of Sky planned to create life, between them they raised the land up from below the oceans creating mountains to separate the land, sea and sky, The Heart of Sky made animals; mammals and reptiles and then birds, the heart of sky asked the animals to pray to them but the animals could not talk and so were designated as food to eat. Attempting to make more intelligent life the makers then made a body of mud which talked but looked grotesque and crumbled away in the rain. Because they could not create the beings they desired the Heart of Sky called on the wise ones or diviners the grandfather God Xpiyacoc and grandmother Goddess Xmucane who suggest making and animating wooden carvings instead. These wooden people could talk and multiply but their minds and hearts were empty and they do not revere/serve the Heart of Sky and thus the Heart of Sky devised a flood and killed them all in rain that lasted many days and nights, the animals came into the wooden peoples homes and ate them and the text goes on to state that the wooden peoples resembled monkeys suggesting that they were primitive men. Following this the Heart of Sky and Quetzalcoatl make eight human beings (four male and four female) out of yellow and white corn or maize which formed the modern humans who could talk, multiply and worshiped the Gods thus the Maize plant became sacred to the Mayans as a sign of the ancestor and united them in their new agricultural society focused around growing maize instead of being just a tribal hunter gatherer structure. The Heart of Sky and Quetzalcoatl are pleased with their creation however they are disturbed by mankinds spiritual spark or “perfect sight” and they choose to then cloud the vision of man to keep mankind subservient.

While it is known that the Mesoamerican cultures may have had contact with the Egyptians in later history (evidenced by mummies burried with cocaine) it is rather disturbing to draw the parallels between the Mayan cosmology and those from other cultures who supposedly had no contact with one another. For instance just as the Sumerian myths state that the Earth and sky were formed by the Gods out of the great sea of Tiamat and seperated by the mountains so too do the Mesoamerican, Egyptian and Semitic myths concour with their own version and just like the Anunnaki had filled a barren world with crops and animals so too did the Heart of Sky and Quetzalcoatl. The creation of mankind out of clay or mud parallels the Semitic golems and stories of Adam and Eve, the Egyptian clay forms of Khnum and also the Sumerian myth of the Anunnaki making beings from clay wombs as well as their first failed creation - the Igigi. Once again there is a great flood myth sent by the Gods to destroy the failed creation with exact parallels to the Sumerian and Semitic flood myths and also the failed and rebellious creation of wooden people could represent the blackheads/dark race or the igigi. Finally like the myths of God in the Hebrew Bible who confounds mans language and prevents man from achieving immortality and like the sumerian anunnaki who seek to make human slaves, the Mesoamerican Gods are disturbed by the “perfect sight” of their creation - their own divine essence, and so seek to “put fog into the eyes of man” clouding their vision and keeping them enslaved.

Death's defining feature is that it counterbalances the power of life and the forces of growth and generativity. Death is the darker but necessary half of life, living energy, and the sexual drive. Death and dying create a void that life must grow and evolve in order to fill. Thus, death drives life's creative and fruitful cycles. This relationship between life and death is foundational to understanding the workings of nature. Grass must grow so that deer may eat it, and later so that we may eat the deer. Without the death of the deer, our own children may not survive.

The twin powers of life and death are deeply respected in many ancient cultures and enshrined in their mythologies. For example, Inanna was the Sumerian goddess of sexual pleasure and fertility. She was also the twin sister of Ereshkigal, the goddess of the underworld (in some descriptions, these goddesses are but a single goddess with a dual nature, both light and dark). The Aztec goddess Mictecacihuatl also embodied the powers of life and death, being both the keeper of the souls of the dead as well as the mother of all of humanity in the next age. Santa Muerte herself likewise represents these powers combined into one figure. Certainly, as Death incarnate, she has the ability to erode, decay, and destroy. By simply withholding her destructive influence, Santa Muerte allows life to flourish.

To say that the power of death had immense sway over both the Europeans and Aztecs is an understatement. Europeans were still reeling from war and plagues that had decimated their own population. The dominance of the danse macabre cultural trend that led to the evolution of figures such as the Grim Reaper and La Parca are testaments to this. The Aztecs practiced sacrifice universally in order to repay the debts that the living owed the power of death. After all, no one would survive for long without harvest and slaughter.

The idea that death embodies an all-encompassing and nearly unlimited scope of power was certainly nothing new to either the Europeans or the Aztecs. In fact, this concept is nearly universal in application already. As far as life and creation spread, death follows to curb and counterbalance it. Without death, there is no drive to fill the empty space it creates. Death is therefore not an inherently negative force. This doesn't change the fact that many people have a negative perception of death. The power it holds over our lives is both ultimate and total. When we feel its nearness, we do not like the sense of shock and loss that it brings. It also has a way of reminding us of our own inevitable demise.

What powers does death possess other than the ability to erode and take life? Death has the power to affect and change all things in creation. In certain early versions of Genesis, God creates the power of death first, even before dividing the heavens and the earth and creating all of the angels. This makes death itself the oldest force in all of creation, secondary only to the pure creative power attributed to God. Some even consider the power of death to be superior to that of Gods own son, Jesus, since even he had to experience its transformative power before he could ascend to his own rightful position in Heaven. In many cultures, even our own, the power of death is accorded a nearly omnipotent status. After all, people frequently joke that few things are certain except death and taxes. This notion is an echo of a much earlier ancient idea, promoted by the Greeks in the form of the goddess Atropos, the cutter of the threads of fate. No one and nothing, not even the king of the gods, was immune to the power of death and the change that it brings.

Death is also frequently seen as a balancing force that is capable of extracting an exact judgment This idea is likewise ancient, reflected in the function of goddesses such as Atropos. There are two reasons for this. The first is that death knocks equally at the gates of poor men and at the palaces of kings. It does not discriminate in terms of social class or standing. The majority of ancient peoples were not members of privileged social classes — there were far more peasant shepherds than high priests and kings. Members of the upper class often had the right to brutally tax, conscript, and even kill members of the peasant class, and enjoyed a far broader range of privileges. The idea that all-powerful death could suddenly appear to strike down a cruel and petty lord must have had broad appeal to many people.

The second reason that death is seen as a judging force is that sentencing prisoners to death for even minor crimes has been a standard practice worldwide for millennia. One reason for this is that the threat of death is a great deterrent. If you know that you are going to be hanged for stealing, then you must evaluate each theft in terms of its real risk to your life. For much of human history, we have killed or enslaved criminals instead of imprisoning them — the rehabilitation of prisoners is a modern idea. In addition, keeping large quantities of people confined to a small area for a prolonged period creates many practical problems, including providing adequate sanitation and limiting the spread of disease. Many of the technologies to make this possible were not available until the l9th and 20th centuries. Thus, there was no way to keep prisoners, even if societies had wanted to. Therefore, death by execution was a practical means of dealing with the criminal population, and so death itself became associated with judgment.

The power of death is also frequently seen as a keeper of wisdom and learning. This idea is likewise an ancient one. The Fates, for example, wove the magic thread that outlined the course of a persons life. The course of mans fate was preordained. The Fates knew everything that had happened and was likewise fated to be. This power gave the Fates the enormous capacity to understand mankind and his foibles. Any leniency in their decisions was based on this massive depth of wisdom. The idea that death was purveyor of wisdom was also rooted in the ancient Jewish tales that deeply influenced Christianity. Because death was likewise thought to be created first, even before all of the angels and the earth, it is the oldest power in creation. The serpent in the Garden of Eden is also sometimes identified as the angel of death. This makes death the purveyor of wisdom as well as freedom from the perfect-but-limited cradle that the Garden of Eden represents. Thus, the consequence of seizing divine wisdom and leaving the divine cradle is the acceptance of death.

The power of death is also seen as having an incredibly transformative touch. Natures renewal depends on it; rotting plant and animal matter makes the most fertile compost, and the desolate ash fields left in the wake of a raging forest fire quickly fill with new green seedlings. We also leave our bodies behind to be buried and decompose within the earth, or often to be burned to ashes in a funeral pyre. No person or thing escapes its eventual touch. Even mythological exceptions to this rule, such as the Greek hero Hercules and the Biblical prophet Ezra, are rare.

Where does our consciousness go when we die? The idea that our consciousness continues in some fashion is an extremely common and ancient spiritual belief. For those who believe that the earth is the scene of our perpetual reincarnations, death is a necessary step in that process. For those who believe that after dying we are transported to Heaven, Hell, or some other sort of eternal realm, death is likewise a necessary step. In many cultures across millennia, the dead have been buried with useful grave items such as tools and food for their use in the next world. Some cultures even continue to make offerings to their dead such as food, water, perfume, and incense, either to appease them or to beg for their favor. These practices would be impossible to conceive of if a prevalent cultural belief about some kind of life after death did not exist. This idea is the foundation of the Day of the Dead festival and why family members return to the graves of their loved ones to celebrate them and ask for their protection and favor.

In more abstract terms, death also has the power to decay, destroy, and thus transform beliefs, habits, and attitudes. The sense of shock created when someone near and dear to you dies is a perfect catalyst for all kinds of personal change. An individual may suddenly decide to start seeking regular medical care after a cancer diagnosis kills a beloved grandmother, for example. A person may find himself or herself to be more patient and forgiving with other people when a family member dies with whom he or she never made peace. Of course, these changes may be more destructive as well. More than one person has collapsed into severe alcoholism thanks to the death of a loved one. Understanding and accepting death's transformative power are often key steps to preventing such a terrible personal outcome.

Ultimately, the changes that death creates may be simple but profound, such as in the sudden death of a loved one. The death of a spouse, for example, brings not only a great deal of personal introspection, but also a profound change in family and community relationships. A grieving spouse loses the company, closeness, and emotional support of his or her dearest partner, and also loses the deceased spouses practical backing. Funeral expenses create huge bills as the second income suddenly disappears, and one less person is available to help make dinner and get the kids to bed. This loss causes friends and family to suddenly come together to support the surviving spouse, which causes further changes in their own family dynamics. These friends and family members themselves may lose a large amount of their own personal time and income in support of the surviving spouse and children. These actions may strengthen family ties — or severely strain them.

Yet out of this experience, positive gains can be made. The shock and introspection brought about by a loved ones death can also clarify relationships, as well as inspire them to grow. Estranged family members often find a way of forgiving each other in death's wake, for instance, finding their way back into the fold. Individually, affected family members may also find new outlets to express their grief in ways that have lasting positive benefits. They may decide to take up a serious artistic hobby, such as painting or writing. A sudden death can also have a sobering effect on your future planning, such as the reality of needing to financially plan for your own funeral, or needing to cope with the eventual mortality of other friends and members. Even these common kinds of changes can have p,, found and lasting effects on the lives of those whom death has touched, changes that otherwise may not have occurred. This is why the death of a loved one is often remembered as a milestone event in a persons life.

Are you both religious and spiritual?

I used to…but I am not. I am spiritual. I’ve been spiritual for over 5 years. I am a spirit in a physical flesh, living a human experience. When I was born and when I die, my spirit will either transform or transfer. I consider every spirit on Earth, an energy. Energy can be changed from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed. I tried to mix religion with spirituality, but I find that I deal with two types of spiritual entities, the religious ideals and spiritual spirit. There’s constant battles between identifying what is the truth presented to me. So, I decided to start basic like my ancient African/Black ancestors. Grow plants, food, drink more water, exercise, interact with like-minded people and adore and appreciate animals… I realize I feel more grounded and human than I did trying to dab with both. I would say, it takes a strong person to do both. For example, the former African/black enslaved people who used religion, practice Hoodoo mix with different spiritual beliefs. This isn’t easy, you can see the ties of trying to preserve their identity as well as trying to be accepted in a country that enslaved Africans/Black people. Fast forward to 2022, I have the right to choose both or one of the other… so I chose spirituality.

I’ve always wanted to create my own Oracle/Tarot Deck… my main goal is to inspire more people to tap in their spiritual journey… I also plan on apply to a reikis program, this will help me enhance my spiritual experience as well as help others in the process. Your posts on clone Shiro have been really interesting - I hadn't considered why the Black lion would lead Keith to the clone when it knew where the real Shiro was (unless maybe it was thinking that Shiro's spirit needed a new body and hey, that one's close enough!). But also, since Kuron had all of Shiro's memories from the time he first escaped back to Earth thru the end of S2, does that mean Haggar's been spying on them via Shiro's arm from the beginning?

Judging from my inbox and comments on other posts, you’re not the only one asking that question. A few examples:

The saddest thing about Kuron is that he wasn’t even actually bad. ... He is compassionate when there are no witnesses. Haggar yells at him to stop resisting when she possesses him, and his screams of agony make it clear that the process is nonconsensual. 

i can’t see any [clone resolution] scenario being handled well. the worst one would probably be if keith (maybe lance) has to kill him … the only thing that could be even worse is if they have the clone commit unambiguous suicide. they can’t do that any justice.

If Kuron had wanted to kill the paladins from the beginning, all he had to do was NOT intervene when they were being destroyed in S4E1. It seems like he was a good guy who got brainwashed into doing evil against his will, so it wasn’t even his fault.

I was really disturbed with what happened to Shiro and clone. Do you think they’ll even address this in the future?

A clone plotline – like a brainwashing/personality implant plotline – will inevitably raise heavy-duty questions about humanity, individuality, personality, and how great a role memories play in who we are. Going in unprepared will result in a story crumbling under that immense philosophical weight – or alternately, providing so many conflicting messages that the readers react with a variety of concerns like the ones quoted above.  

So, let’s talk science, philosophy, and metaphor.

Behind the cut: cloning vs SF make-believe, the ethics of cloning, the question of souls, fictional metaphors for souls. I’ll do a follow-up that gets into the clues in VLD’s text, how a cleaner metaphor could resolve the clone storyline’s plot holes, and what tweaks could’ve unified the metaphor.

The only way to avoid these reactions is to think through the ramifications, and give the narrative a very clear opinion on the answers. You’ve got to do the worldbuilding and decide whether this story’s world is essentialist or existentialist, and how that will change the consequences. It helps to pick a metaphor, but it must be relatively simple (so you don’t need exposition hell to explain), and it must be consistent. The instant the narrative starts waffling on its opinion of its ‘truth’, audiences will sense this and suddenly all those philosophical questions are going to come down, hard.

real cloning vs SF make-believe

In 1885, Hans Adolf Eduard Driesch produced the first viable clone: a sea urchin. In 1902, Hans Spemann cloned a salamander embryo. It wasn’t until 1996 that anyone managed to clone something other than embrionic cells, when Dolly was closed from adult somatic cells. And now, in 2018, biotech company Stemagen has come up with a process that uses an adult human’s cells to create the embrionic material needed for an actual, human, clone. It’d still need to be implanted in a womb, and from there on follow regular human birth and growth, but yes. It’s a human clone.

A clone is not born full-grown. A clone has no memories of anything that gave it genetic material, any more than you remember a parent’s tenth birthday or first kiss. A clone is no more artificial than a baby created by in vitro fertilization. The only difference between Dolly and other sheep was her method of birth; in all other ways that matter, she was a normal sheep. She grew up, had kids of her own, and died. Once the person (or animal) is born, they are their own person, with their own experiences and memories.

A cloned being does not automatically look like its genetic parent; you can still end up with a crapshoot in terms of appearance. Sometimes genes switch on and off, as a body grows; even identical twins are not truly and perfectly identical. Also, injuries (including scars) do not convey. On a glossy level, what’s stored in the DNA isn’t the injury but the body’s need to create collagen to repair that injury. Think of it like a band-aid: even if the body records the need for that bandaid, the clone’s lack of injuries would prompt the body to dismiss the bandaid. 

ethics of cloning & the question of souls

Once you recognize you’re talking about a living creature, the ethics simplify into being the same as what you’d raise for any other living creature. Banks and banks of post-birth clones, even in stasis, are as much living creatures as any other. Slaughtering them is still murder. Enslaving them is still slavery. Brutalizing them is still abuse. Cool clone, still murder.  

Where things get sticky is when the issue of clones runs up against religiously-based beliefs, most of which lack a solid framework for this modern concept. (Some religions have addressed in vitro and cloning birth technologies, but the specifics aren’t really relevant here.) Since this show is American-made, I’m going to stick to Western concepts, since that’s the most likely influence on the various creators involved in VLD. But to discuss souls, first we have to talk about the two theories on how personhood develops.  

essentialism vs existentialism

In essentialism, essence precedes existence: the person’s essence comes before all other things, even the spark of life itself (or alternately, the essence is the spark that kicks life into being self-aware). Spirit, soul, whatever word you use, it’s some inherent and inviolable thing that forms the basis of the individual’s personhood. It maps roughly to the nature half of the nature-vs-nuture debate – but it’s bigger than that.

Essentialism, at its extremes, is a position of seeing that originating spark/soul as the entirety of a person’s truth. When you reduce someone to their gender, or their race, or some other facet of their birth, that’s essentialism; when you declare that someone born X at birth can never be Y, again, that’s essentialism. When essentialism mingles with religious beliefs, you get a concept of a soul that exists before birth, and continues after: the person’s true essence, for which the body is only a thing to put it in. It’s the ultimate Cartesian separation between the mind-that-is and the body-that-experiences.  

Existentialism is the opposite, and maps more closely to nurture-over-nature. Existence precedes essence: personhood is the culmination of all our experiences, our memories, our interactions, our successes, our failures. Everything you’ve ever done, known, said, thought, or dreamed: these are your interactions with the world, and they are the entirety of what has shaped you into who you are. If there is an essence in play, it is formed out of your existence, rather than informing it. We are each born a tabula rasa, and there is no division between mind as objective observer and body as the vehicle of experience. These things are basically one and the same, in existentialism.

This perspective can also be taken to extremes; at its worst, it’s been turned into a kind of AI-like philosophy, where culture, genetics, family, can be swept aside – along with any future paths. Nothing is true; everything is permitted – a phrase whose roots are deeper than any video game, in a murky muddle between François Rabelais and Hassan-i Sabbah (by way of Vladimir Bartol). If you’re curious, this is the best short explanation I’ve found. 

fictional metaphors for souls

I bring up those competing paradigms because for most religious worldviews, ‘what brings life’ can be hugely important. If the process of birth is defined as a soul exists, the body is created, the soul enters thus making life, does this change if a body is created intentionally? What SFF likes to ask is whether a creature could be only as the shell, lacking that pre-existing substance. (Existentialism bypasses all of this, of course – but that would make for a boring story. It’s just one more individual who is born, lives, and eventually dies.) 

The hitch lies in our real-world metaphors mapping to computers. I’ll walk through a metaphor based on real-world computing rules, and hopefully it’ll become clear how this contradicts with the Western religio-spiritual assumption of a pre-existing, unique, 'soul’.

The mind-body separation exists in the basic metaphor. Hardware is the body, which can run with little oversight; the software (the mind) can usually be updated without disturbing the hardware. Sometimes the hardware ages out and this impacts the software; extend this metaphor and you get the SFF premise of transferring to new hardware so the software (the mind/soul) continues to run. Sometimes the software demands too much and burns out the hardware. 

Overall, the computer-based metaphor plays neatly into the Cartesian system where the two (mind and body) are separate but co-influencing. Note that part about 'transfer to new hardware’ – this is where this metaphor breaks down. 

Remember that Cartesian (yes, 'I think, therefore I am’ guy) posits a separation, and lends itself to an essentialist view where the mind can exist separately and objectively from the body. The same is not true of computers. Ask questions about pre/post life and the computer metaphor swerves into existentialism.

To illustrate: let’s say you have a laptop running a Unix OS, and one day you uninstall Unix and install Windows. It’s now common enough to do fresh installs that the average audience-member will grasp the metaphor: the laptop is now Windows. There is no more Unix. If there is a ghost in the machine, it’s a newborn with factory settings. If you were to reverse your actions and go back to Unix, the original system doesn’t pop up out of nowhere; you now have a newborn system that just happens to be Unix. Unless you took other precautions, the original is gone.  

I mention precautions because there are real-world alternatives in the process, and those impact the metaphor. The first is ghosting to an external drive: that entire Unix setup was copied over to a secondary home, broken away from the hardware. It’s no longer interacting; it’s in stasis. 

Yet, from the perspective of the laptop, it’s now Windows and must start over. The computer has no knowledge of once being Unix. Its self-knowledge begins with its 'birth’ as a Windows machine. If the computer is then wiped and the ghosted Unix is returned to the hardware, the re-installation would have no record of what happened in the meantime, because from the OS’ perspective, there’s no break in its experiential record. It was Unix, it was in stasis, it woke and was still Unix.

The alternative is an OS split into two; memory (the database) and personality (the OS). This paradigm gained strength with the rise of large external drives for long-term storage, while the laptop acts like a terminal, storing little and retrieving as-needed. An uninstall/install will produce artifacts: tiny footprints of a previous OS. (In an archive moved from Mac to Windows, you can see this in the .DS_Store files in every folder.) You could say that the newborn Windows system arrives with clues to its hardware’s previous existence, but in this metaphor, those 'memories’ may make no sense to the current OS. Windows has no idea what to do with a .DS_Store file; it doesn’t need it, and can’t even read it.

the narrative needs to be certain of its opinion

Given those variations in the person-as-computer metaphor, it’s imperative that a story know exactly how its world works. Without that strong and settled opinion, a stray remark within the narrative can mislead readers into thinking they should be following a different version of the metaphor. 

If your story will stand or fall on the concept of a ghost in the machine, you’d better clarify that there’s a backup copy somewhere. If you want the memory without the personality, you’ll need to bring in the concept of external memory paired with a new OS. Otherwise you risk readers kneejerking at the notion that the unprepared, unsaved, and uninstalled Unix OS is just floating out there in the ether, waiting to return. You’ve broken your metaphor.

First of all, while Katara didn’t forgave Yon Rha for his murder of her mother, she didn’t KILL HIM IN COLD BLOOD. She even was willing to spare his life and learn how to forgive Zuko for his past actions while hunting Aang. Even Zuko told Aang that he was right about what Katara need and that VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER. Aang replied IT NEVER IS. Then Zuko asked him about when he faces his father Ozai. While Yon Rha killing of Kya is horrible, it was inventible Azulon wanted the Southern Water Tribe kidnapped and later geocide just like the Air Nomads. Just encase if the Air bender Avatar is truly dead along with later Hama terrorist attacks on the Fire Nation citizen. Yon Rha would have been replace like a cog in the machine if he refused to kill Kya. Even the other Southern Raider would have killed Kya instead and charge him with treason against His Flaming Majesty Fire Lord Azulon and send him back home to be executed by fire and lighting. An elderly Katara by TLOK probably forgave Yon Rha considering the she is smart and wise enough to understand the circumstance of the war and cultural of the Fire Nation Military Junta. You don’t have to forgive the actions, to forgive the person, BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN CHANGE IN TIME! 

Aang not killing Ozai goes against Air Nation spirituality and all life is sacred mentality of his people. If Aang killed Ozai it would have shown that the Fire Nation way of using there power for VIOLENCE AND DEATH IS CORRECT. It would have made OZAI A MARTYR TO HIS PEOPLE. Even FIRE NATION COLONIAL WITH EARTH KINGDOM BLOOD WERE WILLING TO ASSASSINATION ZUKO FOR OZAI AND WERE LOYAL TO HIM EXTREMLY. Ozai may be a Racist, Genocidal, Bigot, Child Abusing monster in OUR EYES, BUT HE IS COMPLETELY NORMAL IN THE FIRE NATION! In the Fire Nation you are raised to see yourself as superior to other Fire Nation citizen especially sub-human” Earth Kingdom “FILITH”  and Water Tribe “SAVAGES”.

The Moral dilemma was SOLVED WITH ENERYBENDING. Cope out? Sure, but Aang could have simply trap and bound Ozai’s hands and feet with Earthbending and keep him imprison in the Boiling Lake guarded with Earth Kingdom guards like the Dai Lee. Aang kept true to himself and his Air Nomad ideal unlike Avatar Yangchen who was biased toward human and neglect spirts and led to “dark” spirits attacking humans who trampled on their land and customs. Avatar Kuruk has a short 30 years old lifespan for fighting the dark spirits that Avatar Yangchen caused! 

Zuko as FIRELORD in the Finale confronted his father Ozai and TOLD HIM TO HIS FACE “PERHAPS SOME TIME IN HERE [PRISION] WILL MAKE YOU CHANGE AS I HAVE FOR THE BETTER”. Zuko just like the Avatar originally believe that Aang HAD to kill Ozai for the safety of the world. He wanted Aang to be able to do it if necessary and he is still rightfully angry at his dad for the Agni burning and banishment.

IT STILL DOESN’T CHANGE THE FACT THAT IT A KIDS SHOW! I WATCH ATLA BACK IN THE DAY AT 7 OR 8 YEARS OLD. THE NICKELODEON ISN’T GOING TO SHOW A 12 YEAR OLD KILL A MAN ON A KIDS PROGRAM! LMAO! Why you think the joke about Jet’s “death” scene doesn’t show Long Feng crush his organs and bone getting crush by  the jagged earth spike wave or the blood coming from his mouth from internal bleed?!?!?!?!? 

Even if one could go back in time and kill Hitler. You won’t change the racism, prejudice, and anti-Semitism that Germany, Austria-Hungry, Russia and etc had for the Jewish people. Yes, killing the Tyrant leader is a real world solution, but guess what? THE PROBLEM THAT ARE CAUSE BY THEM ARE STILL LEFT THERE EVEN DECADE AFTER THEIR DEATHS! Did Hitler and the Nuremberg Trials death? End Nazism in Europe and stop spreading to America and Australia? Had Gadhafi’s death ended the stop the enslavement of Black Libyans NOPE IT INCREASE MORE. OZAI IS FUEDAL WARLORD EMPEROR! HE IS COMMON PLACE IS ANCIENT FUEDAL ASIA. THESE MODERN DAY CONCEPTION OF WAR CRIMINAL AND EVIL FACISM ARE UNTHINKABLE! SOZIN LIKE GENGHIS KHAN SLAGUHTER MILLIONS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE FOR THEIR GLORIOUS EMPIRE. THE SHOGUN OF TOKUGAWA SHOGUNATE ORDER HIS OWN SON TO COMMIT SEPPUKU (SUICIDE) FOR HIS TREASOUS REBELLION. Ozai could have killed Hakoda, Bato, Mai, Ty Lee and had them thrown into the Boiling Lake instead he had them imprison even allowed them have sunlight and social time on the prison yard. By all means, Ozai should have had Hakoda and Bato drawn and quarted and disembowled  with their heads on spikes. Mai and Ty lee should be sent to the Royal Palace as possibly concubines or slave wards. AVATAR IS A KID SHOW WHICH IS WHY THIS DIDN’T HAPPEN!

Aang spared Ozai NOT because Ozai deserved it but because the Air Nomad ideal are WORTH IT!
