MUSINGS ON MY NYC STAR DR. ( literally me deciding if that’s where i wanna focus my energy to shift to. internal monologue, really )

— ⋆˙⟡ similar pros to my myspace DR, being the year 2000 and all. more mellow. people expect less from supermodels than they do from actresses—i don’t have to be perfectly charming or likable, just beautiful. shallow, sure, but doesn’t that take the pressure off a little bit?

— ⋆˙⟡ more privacy. still famous, but they aren’t absolutely ripping me down in the streets for a single photo (usually.) and aside from all of the obvious delights of living in New York City, there’s also the fact that i have a shot at blending. melting away into the sea of faces, experiencing some semblance of anonymity thanks to the objective mental preoccupation of the countless bodies around me.

— ⋆˙⟡ i get to be messy—a fool, not so worried about whether or not i look stupid doing things because people are going to inevitably look at me and go ‘mood’ ‘ugh, perfection’ regardless.

— ⋆˙⟡ i live in a beautiful penthouse all by myself, my own space, breathing in the clearest air imaginable in the sanctity of my own home.

— ⋆˙⟡ i have great friends—ambitious, funny, beautiful. in identical or similar industries, so they can relate—like they know the inside of my head and accept it, understand it. we talk nonsensically to eachother with no one to look at us funny, because we’re models.

— ⋆˙⟡ i can have whoever i want, which i’m free to take full advantage of in the embrace of my white-and-baby-blue silk sheets… or i can choose to ignore them all in favor of a certain Australian actor and artist that treats me like some religious figure. it’s my choice, and is either option bad?

— ⋆˙⟡ i wake up at whatever time i want, eat something sugary for breakfast (powdered doughnuts, probably with a cigarette on the side, whoops.) maybe i have work that day, maybe i meet up with friends for lunch, maybe i lay around in the embrace of my velvet sofa until the sun goes back down. it’s freedom of choice with my money and my time, and beautiful leisure unbound by the typical constraints of those less privileged than i—wealthy, beautiful, in the heart of the city that never sleeps. what more could i ask for?

𝓓ay 17. gift tags -> What is your camera roll like in your dr?

in this reality I used to be an oversaver. meaning my camera roll had barely any photos of me and several edits, memes, fanarts, funny photos, and content i would use for edits (including hour long scenepacks). i now edit on my laptop so my camera roll has slowed down it’s gathering pace thankfully. but it’s still doesn’t hold many photos i’ve taken myself or of me.

that changes in this reality. i take photos religiously. of various things. but there are some things that have higher volume within my camera roll. such as:

ꜱɪʀɪᴜꜱ ʙʟᴀᴄᴋ

he’s quite literally my best friend. we met on a shoot for some obscure online clothing shop at the start of our careers and we became incredibly close. we bonded over the strange clothes and the even stranger hours, then going out to celebrate a job well done and sealing the fate of our friendship. our relationship strengthened as our gender identities shifted, and we had more in common.

we’d snap photos of each other for our social medias but also just for memories. photos from when we’d go out or even stay in. when we were with friends or alone. etc. etc. taking photos became muscle memory. being on certain streets, seeing certain backdrops, were just instant calls to take photos of each other.

then the strong feeling of adoration that i harbored for her from the start began to hold a romantic tinge to it that i couldn’t ignore. and taking photos of her turned from making memories or doing her a favor because, “this would look great on your feed”. to admiring them in certain lights and needing to take photos.

soon there was an album on my phone just for photos of him, and a good portion of those photos he didn’t know about. maybe he saw me take them, but when i wouldn’t show the photos he didn’t ask.

when we start dating, it only gets worse, but also more explicit. i will take photos and keep all the blurry ones, if they tell me to erase one i will, but if not all the photos stay. and any chance i can document her beauty, including in certain vulnerable states i will. he would be excited when i asked if i could take pictures of him after a night together. and we would flip through the photos before i stash them in my hidden folder.

ᴍʏ ꜰʀɪᴇɴᴅꜱ

me and sirius bring different people to our one big friend group. i bring remus, dorcas, lily, and patricia (fem!peter). he brings james, marlene, and mary. we’ll hang together as one big group but we do still enjoy our time seperated in our original groups too.

i often bring a camera with me, and i always have my phone on me. i enjoy taking photos for my friends either for their social media or just candid shots when we’re enjoying ourselves. the quirk of taking candid photos transferred to my other relationships after befriending sirius. which i’m glad for.

sirius and lily are more shy when it comes to me taking candids but they accept it. patricia and dorcas both love when i take candids, and they beg for me to show them. all of my friends appreciate my offers to do photoshoots for them with a more suitable camera, though not often do they take advantage of it. whatever

i’m not much for taking pictures of myself. i will, of course, when i feel like it… i’m just more focused on my friends. but that’s where my friends come in handy !!

my friends will take photos of me instead. they’ll tell me to pose and i will. or they catch me off guard and get some nice candid shots. they’ll send them to me, usually the ones they like the best or think will do well on social media.

i also tend to save photos of myself from shoots that are shared online or shared to me from the brand & photographers themselves. that’s because i tell my friends or family about the shoot and they want to see it, so i send them the photos.

i have plenty videos of my friends too! especially sirius. it started when they would stick their phone in my face to record videos of me. so i started to do it too to get them back. and then i just continued to record them because i liked having the videos to look back on. and as i met my other friends, they became victims too !!

i also have photos of things i take that just live around me that i find pretty! very often tidepools and beaches and the ocean. but also cute animals, or pretty nature in general. graffiti, notes, architecture, statues, etc. etc. i’m an enjoyer of many things. and i like to document without it clouding the experience too much.

all in all, though, i prefer having a lot of photos of my friends in my camera roll, specifically sirius…

Im never making a joke again 😭 after talking to my friend abt it, i feel better, but im still too scared. I thought poop jokes were childish and funny, like “your mom” 😭 regardless, nobody's seeing a joke from me ever again unless it’s on tiktok-- just to be clear tho, even if I found it funny, if the other party didn't, obviously the fault relies on me

I saw a guy get canceled for saying “your mom” too— though tbf it’s bc in Confucian countries it’s really bad to joke about your parents

it's been awhile-- here's some weird ass genres you could make a DR from.

disclaimer: I used chatgpt (out of curiousity for some of these genres, those genres are made up and are not actual terms. Italicized ideas are ones from chatGPT. Guys it's unfair how good chatgpt is getting.. my brother told me that the goal of the current model is to have the AI simulate proper critical thinking instead of simply spitting out information.. isn't that crazy)

futuristic

cli-fi - this genre delves not only into climate change itself, but issues relating to the sun disappearing, or the world freezing. I remember seeing a shifter somewhere saying that she shifted here bc in her previous reality climate change was getting really really bad.

social sci-fi - focuses on how humans interact and behave in a futuristic setting.

planetary romance - exploration of different planets + romance, especially with an alien. Also characterized by distinctive extraterrestrial cultures and backgrounds.

data gothic - cyberpunk x gothic horror; characters encounter malevolent AI beings, digital ghosts, and corrupted data streams.

cosmic agriculture - genre focused on growing plant life in outer space or on different planets. Can also including breeding alien organisms (bacteria).

psychic noir - solve crimes in a world where memories, emotions, and thoughts could be hacked, manipulated, or weaponized. I think I'd make the memory thing extremely hard to do, since if it was too common I think it'd cause way too much havoc.

eco-metamorphosis - kinda like alien stage, but if you'd like, it could be less dark. This genre centers around earth being colonized by aliens, but the goal isn't to reject these changes, but rather to coexist with the other species.

slipstream - "speculative fiction that blends together science fiction, fantasy, and literary fiction or does not remain in conventional boundaries of genre and narrative"

abandoned intentions - explore incomplete worlds-- as if the world was abandoned mid-creation.

lost world - discovering a hidden civilization, like atlantis or lumeria.

subterranean - a world that is primarily in an underground setting; similar to the hollow earth theory.

mythic/mythopeia -  "fiction that is rooted in, inspired by, or that in some way draws from the tropes, themes, and symbolism of myth, legend, folklore, and fairy tales."; very similar to my wandering apocathary dr.

oceanic

nautical fiction - relationship between humans and the sea; "human relationship to the sea and sea voyages and highlights nautical culture in these environment".

wholesome/cute

furry sleuth - this is not about furries-- this is essentially a mystery where the main character is a household animal, typically a dog. Said animal would be the detective and solve mysteries.

cashier memoir - this genre always takes place in the head of a cashier. The goal is to come across as many different kinds of people as possible. This would be incredibly boring in this reality, but imagine if you were a barista in a fantasy or futuristic reality... you'd come across a lot of people without much effort or mental strain.

epistolary - a story told exclusively through fictional letters, newspaper articles, emails, and even texts. This isn't necessarily a genre of DR, but I think it'd be really interesting to guess/assume the plot of a DR through short snippets of letters or texts.

one thing i feel like shifters should talk about more are very specific things from their drs.

like okay, yours is a fantasy dr. TELL ME EVERYTHING BAE ???? how’s the magic system? what type of people do you see on a daily basis? what kind of creatures are there? what kind of legends and stories do the inhabitants know?

you shift to harry potter or percy jackson or an anime or whatever tv show or movie you like? great! i wanna know all the things people usually don’t tell you about these realities!

or again, you have a fame dr. okay cool, tell me exactly what interests you the most about what you do and what makes it fun for you, wether that is acting, singing, modelling, etc. what are some things you’d never expect to be true on a movie set? how are chemistry reads like? do you like every cast member you’re acting with? what are some things you’d never expect come with your job? and what’s it like being a model? do you like it? is it as stressing as everyone says? how do you find it and what’s something that keeps you motivated to do it as your dr self? or wow, you’re a photographer! tell me, what do you like the most about it? what subjects do you have a preference for?

you get what i mean? i LOVE reading story times and things about people’s friendships/relationships, but i think there are so many things that people just don’t talk about that could be so interesting for shifters that share a dr. of course it won’t be the same for everybody, but at the same time you’d just explain what those who want to give up or are unmotivated are missing out on, and maybe also things that they might be curious or worrying about!!

Today after another thing happened in my cr i was wondering about something. That made it clear for me im leaving and never coming back, because i have been thru 10 years of survival mode, always having to be disappointed in things and waiting longer for the minimum to not even be given to me BUT also made me envious of others having a better life. Because obviously they have.

But then I thought, wait am I not doing better than them?

Then I thought nah, I mean I'm struggling to even sleep properly. But technically, we tend to think our cr is our "only" life, and as a shifter, I know it's not true.

So I thought "wait, but yes I AM???"
