community rules

Welcome to our little killing game information blog! It's currently under construction, but there are some rules outlined for this budding community, right under the cut!

Main rules

I. This campaign is rated R-15, but...

Only users 15 or older can join the server and participate in spectator-only activities. However, only those 18 and above can apply.

Why? This is likely different per country, but 15 is usually the age where people form some sort of understanding about darker themes in stories and can consume with things like murderdeath and the grim side of the human psyche. However, we've had some negative experiences with underage players using their age as a weapon in OOC drama, so we're erring on the safe side.

Not to mention, Penglai may be a pretty funky island survival game that has been compared at least three times to Minecraft, but it's got some pretty screwy themes that anyone younger than 15 would have trouble handling.

We sincerely ask you to not lie about your age; because the moment we find out, you will get your bum instabanned.

Users younger than 15: you can look at the blog, but you can't stay!

II. Let's all be kind to one another!

This game is meant for people to enjoy themselves. This means that you should treat other users on the server. Respect people's personal limits, and don't get into discourse or drama.

Swearing is OK, but don't be excessive. Some words are on shaky ground, but do not use definitive racist and ableist slurs.

Also, please don't spam.

If a particular user is making you uncomfortable, please DM one of the mods so they can intervene.

III. Limit discussion of certain topics

While it's impossible to truly ban some topics, we ask that you limit discussions of incredibly stressful real-world present-day events. Alluding to and mentioning them is fine, but this is a roleplay community designed so people can get away from their real lives for a bit, not a wildlife sanctuary for outrage monkeys.

Also, folks 18+... please quarantine R-18 content into the appropriate channels! Thank you!

Application Period-specific rules

You can apply up to 2 characters, but only 1 will get in.

Two applicants can work together to make a duo (basically, two characters who have a connection to one another.)

Read the character guidelines.

You may use the blog's ask box to ask any questions. You can also hop into the server and ask in the dedicated questions channel!

However, if you want to send an ask relating to a thing you want to keep secret, please ask off-anon.

Submit your application as a Google Docs link through Discord DM (it's a desert out there#8119) or the blog's submission box.

Revising bits of your application within 7 days of submitting it is acceptable.

But please inform the mods that you did so—otherwise, we'll completely overlook it and we won't be able to account for it in our decision-making process!

Have any of you thought about streaming?

Generally speaking, most of us aren't streamers, but we'd be willing to stream on occasion!

Today, I'm (Mod Lemres) going to be streaming Mean Bean Machine (with a flightstick controller). Mod Penglai will be chatting on stream as well! The stream will be around 6:00PM EST.

On the 12th, we'll be doing a bigger stream, quite possibly fusion battles in PPT. Time pending, but we'll announce the time when we get there.
