The Neo-Interactives is a hub for Interactive Fiction and IF-adjacent jams, moderated by Autumn Chen, Lapin Lunaire Games (Jinx), and Manonamora.

We organise small and unranked game jams throughout the year, each with different constraints, rules, and length!

We welcome any form of IF: from parser, to choice-based, to visual novels, and even kinetic pieces! We do not restrict creators to any program or format, or language. If your entry is interactive and focuses on the text, come submit it! We only ask that you include trigger warnings when relevant.

Eiichi - The Admittance

- First off, there’s nothing to ‘admit’.

- ‘Admittance’ implies a level of shame, or secrecy to his feelings. And while your relationship up until this point has been characterised by arguments and mutually respectful annoyance, he’s never been one to shy from his true feelings. Especially his passions.

- He just doesn’t say anything aloud.

- So what actually happens is a subtle shift in the dance you two have. He compromises without Eiji’s pushing and mentally folds you into his considerations of HEAVENS’ future. You respond in kind by asking for his input on certain things. The blow-out arguments mellow into bickering at best and when you stay over at the HEAVENS mansion, up into the small hours of the night, poring over documents and scheduling and contracts to the point of trance, you’re invariably snapped out of it by a mug of coffee set pointedly at your elbow. Eye contact and a single nod is all the interaction that comes of this usually, but after the second or so time you shift slightly in your designated seat at the kitchen island and tilt your head in such a way that says ‘come here and look at this’.

- ‘Coming here’ requires him to cross the kitchen and 'looking at this’ requires him to bend down so his head is roughly level with yours. Usually this wouldn’t make his pulse pick up–after all–the two of you invade the other’s personal space with reckless abandon for far lesser reasons and usually with a smirk, but since his 'realisation’ he’s become uncharacteristically respectful of a safe distance and you’ve seemingly not noticed.

- You’ve noticed.

- And, to be honest, you’ve kind of missed it.

- So when he does get close, you sling a casual arm over his shoulders once he’s at your height and point at various parts of the contract you’ve highlighted to get rewritten before you let them sign it.

- To his credit, the tensing in his shoulders is fleeting and he reciprocates the gesture as per usual, his arm loosely around your waist as he reads the contract and tries to not start reading into body language instead. After all, nothing’s changed. He’s certain of it.

- When all is sorted and done, however, your lips press a fleeting kiss to his cheek and suddenly he’s aware that everything’s changed ever since you threw yourself into the line of fire with his Father before he could. But it’s not….for the worse.

- He drops a kiss to the top of your head in response, inhaling with his eyes closed, committing the scent and feel to memory. He intends to keep this…whatever you have, the leader of HEAVENS will assuredly raise Hell if Raging tries anything with you.

But a few days ago, I had a little inspiration crisis when I saw the new tiny trailer that makes us hope for werewolves in the game very soon! 🤞 So, whether they're coming or not, at least we can still have a good mood with a new lunar loading screen! So I created some loading screens with images of the full moon from the game that I had in stock. And then I redesigned the luminous plumbob from the trailer, and arranged it my way! Like a continuation of my loading screens from this summer! 😉 I hope you can find your new loading screen among these!

You just have to put the package file in your Mods folder. But be careful, I remind you that you can only have one at a time in your game!

J'ai donc créé quelques écrans de chargement avec des images de la pleine lune du jeu que j'avais en stock. Et puis ensuite, j'ai redessiné le plumbob lumineux du trailer, et l'ai arrangé à ma façon ! Comme une suite de mes écrans de chargement de cet été ! J'espère que vous pourrez trouver votre nouvel écran de chargement parmi ceux-là ! Il vous suffit de placer le fichier package dans votre dossier Mods. I absolutely do 1000%! Really reviewing the canon and the games drives this home for me. When I look at it, I dont exactly see sexual or romantic chemistry in their relationships with each other.

Like, for example, Natsuki and Syo read to me as an older brother relentlessly doting on his smaller, younger, and more easily bothered brother.

Aside from the fact that Otoya and Cecil are literally brothers, the rest of STARISH took to looking out for Cecil in some capacity, with him being the youngest and newest member.

Between Otoya and Tokiya there is a certain rivalry to an extent but Otoya seems more of an obnoxious younger brother Tokiya has to room with.

Not only with their roommates but with the ones that are close to age too, Otoya and Syo, Masato and Tokita, and Natsuki and Ren.

I'm just curious because this thing haunts me these days, did Reiji secretly a smoker? Because i see a lot fanart and doujin where Reiji is smoking. And also, do you have some trivia about Reiji?

☾ HMM, I don’t think he smokes in canon, it might be shorthand for his maturity or just artistic license!

Also BOY DO I:

- He’s so fucking good at cooking. Every single person in QN admits that Reiji can buy their co-operation with his food.

- He’s so good at reading people! He was okay at this as a kid/teen but after Aine disappeared and he blamed himself for it he made sure he learnt how to read peoples moods and microexpressions.

- In fact, he’s so good at this that Camus, a man who has been trained in stealth, combat, and many many other things since he was 8 years old, realises with a jolt that Reiji can read him like a book and resolves to keep an eye on him for it (while also begrudingly admitting to himself and MC that Reiji must be very smart to do so).

- On that note: he is so fucking smart. He knows his shit. I can imagine him snatching a janky contract out of someone’s hand and reading it over immediately in front of the shady manager who handed it over and cheerily pointing out what a bad deal this is for the artist and rewriting it on the fly while the manager gradually starts sweating.

- He’s devastatingly popular! He has fans that have been fans of him since he was a child star! He feels a lot of dedication to these people who have supported him for nearly 20 years!

- He really likes it when his juniors or fellow bandmates rely on him for things! He says that ‘being told ‘I’m counting on you!’’ makes him feel at his best since it makes him feel needed.

- Clingy. But good clingy! He just wants to always be near his loved one and wants to show off for them and put in little easter eggs in his performances for them all the time because they’re the person who helped him feel like life was worth living! Not just something he was coasting through!

- My fave bond line of his is ‘I can’t restrain myself when I see something with the Union Jack on it! My wallet has other ideas...’ because lmao. 

- He drives a Morris Minor in British Racing Green. I just know this bc I know cars but I cannot fucking believe this dork.

- Someone show him a Robin Reliant I bet he’d lose his mind.

☾ I’m not answering-answering this just yet (both Sol and I are in a very rocky part of our lives right now, so we’re sparse on Joy at the moment which is what we use to run this blog), but I do just want to quickly note that ‘willing’ is just a heartbreaking word in this context, and I do feel the need drive home that neither Sol nor myself ever specify body type for just this reason because anyone should be able to slide into the role of Reader. If anyone’s ever denied you this, I’m incandescantly angry and sorry.

I think this stuck with me because of the ways I’ve felt maligned by swathes of the Reader-Insert writing I’ve come across before. It can sometimes be, while nothing is overtly specified, coded in such a manner that you really only feel a fic is written with one sort (straight, white, female, cis, svelte, short, able bodied, american, christian) of person in mind, which can--at worse-- kill enjoyment in a piece for everyone that doesn’t fit that very narrow viewpoint. At best, it simply reminds you that this is Not For You, which is practically the antithesis of ‘Reader Insert’. An example for me that I always remember is the lone fic in a tag I desperately wanted to read had a line in it about how ‘You were considered exotic in India’. I am half-Indian. They never considered someone who was Indian could ever read their fic. Wild, right? Especially since the fandom was set in India.

You lose nothing as a writer from telling your story, your plot, your romance by skirting around specificities. There are so many ways to be carefully vague without detracting from your writing OR putting in [e/c] [h/l] [h/c] to break up flow.

This isn’t to say that specificity is the enemy. If you don’t want to write anything other than a Female Reader, fine, but at least say so.

Anyway this, and a lot else in our inbox, will eventually be fulfilled. I just....was struck by how annoyed on your behalf this made me. Relatable Content.

☀I have been thinking about this ask a lot in the past week or so since we’ve received it and Lun puts it very eloquently but I would like to add that I don’t think that any of the idols would ever treat you differently based on body type, period. They would treat you like they love you.

☾ Where STARISH love each other openly and treat each other very much like family (with some of them having known each other all their lives), QN were very much brought together by circumstance and/or accident.

They’re steadily evolving friends at worse in my eyes, Band of Bastard Brothers at best.
