hotarubi/sho anon, just saw your post about vagastrom vice-captain and I believe it's Tohma? He probably transferred to Frostheim after whoever was vice-captain there left (during or after the Clash I believe?)

That's why Jin was kinda cagey around him, and most obvious was when he tells Tohma to "drop the act" and Tohma replies that he's grown used to it before talking casually for a while. Also I just got the feeling that despite being so intelligent and cunning, he gives a vibe of someone who's comfortable using brute strength as well - kinda like how Deuce from twst used to be a delinquent before he decided to change his ways and aim to be an honor student.

And then we have Tohma and Alan interacting and trying to find out the spy - I reread that chapter and his specific words (in jpn) were "It might be strange coming from me, but I hope they lighten the load for you, even a little."

To me it sounds like he feels bad about leaving Alan high and dry without his own vice-captain since there were no other ghouls in Vagastrom to replace him, but clearly he has some loyalty/promise to Jin that took precedence. Which is also why Alan's kinda sensitive in the campus event where Leo straight-up asks about the mod on the car that doesn't let him eavesdrop, Alan was quiet until Leo said he'd probe into Tohma instead, at which point Alan gets mad and tells him not to bother him. Alan probably feels like Tohma is still "one of his people" even after he left the dorm.

Also I saw a jpn artist draw Tohma in the Vagastrom uniform having a smoke and made me go damn that makes sense.

I'm very much on the same page as you about Tohma, Sho anon, I made that post as a sort of throwaway note to the larger one I made about Leo sniffing around for clues about Dante as it's a possibility I thought of, but nothing about Dante screams Vagastrom to me. He's very much closer to Frostheim or what we've seen of Clementia.

Tohma is a deeply interesting character to me. Despite having Jade's voice actor, his personal story seems to be much closer to Ruggie's; we know for a fact he was in Vagastrom "until the middle of last year" as Leo calls Alan out on that, and if there were only two ghouls in the whole dorm then by process of elimination we can say he was the Vice Captain. From what Alan says about telling Leo to back off and what Jin says about "the act" (he's wearing a monocle literally only a delinquent would think that makes him more noble looking) he seems like someone who is trying to better his place in the world through making connections. If what Alan said about people in Vagastrom having people on the outside they're trying to make things better for is true, then I wouldn't be surprised if Tohma has or had some family he wants a better life for. Alan seems to find that admirable in people which is why he doesn't want Leo poking into his business since that does not seem to be something that Satan spawn understands.

As for Dante... his name makes me think of the Divine Comedy as does his apparent brush with death. I want to save all of my thoughts about him for the information post I'm putting together, as what I think about Jin, but I'll say this much now. All of the dorm captains we see (other than Yuri) have some sort of identity crisis going on at the moment. I don't think that's a coincidence.

Old(tm). Highest stats are INT and CHA, classed as a draconic bloodline sorcerer/wizard (bloodline is gold/fire, mostly putting levels in wizard). Can't be selected in-game but they're the grandchild of Kereska, dragon god of magic.

So yes a half-deity dragon angel with fire powers I know they're OP I know but also have you seen Sascha canonically.

Trauma in their backstory, because ofc. When they were young, they fell under the control of another aasimar, Symeon, child of Tyr, who in turn served Michael, who claimed to be the avatar of Sune. Symeon was charming and manipulative, and Sascha, then calling themself Myca, fell pretty quickly under his influence. It wasn't a great time.

Had a sweet romance with Ilias, child of Silvanus. Ilias died during the Spellplague. Myca changed their name to Sascha and. Hardened themself off somewhat.

Present day, a powerful sorcerer/wizard who regularly looks in on places like Blackstaff Academy, using illusion magic to hide their wings and stuff.

Secret! Netherese! Cultist!

Has a fascination with illithid technology. It's so visceral. Why is the damn ship crashing why can't they examine the meat crimes more :-\

Immediately takes charge with their OP charisma. General play vibes are like, pragmatic and not very sentimental, but does try to take care of their coterie.

Mostly fascinated with Gale, another powerful and ambitious mage with a connection to Netherese magic. Definitely encourages him to seek out his sorcerer side (he'll end up multiclassing Storm Sorcery) and, uh, the Crown but also with an eye to maybe? using it themself?

Wary about the Dream Visitor. Does not like having their mind fucked with. On the other hand, very open to using illithid powers, although by the time they get the astral-touched tadpole they're already too negative about the Emperor to agree.

Major decisions, act 1: We are straight-out skipping the druids/tiefling/goblin conflict! (Or, well, AFAIK you can't avoid the fight at the gate, but otherwise they're going to do that, trade with Arron, talk to whatshisname who had the run-in with the githyanki, then go "yeah this isn't my business" and leave.) Won't be recruiting Wyll, Karlach, or Halsin, and the tieflings are fucked, I'm sorry everyone ;_; Might end up entering the Goblin Camp just for more info on this True Soul/Absolute business, but staying steadfastedly Not Involved, then heading on to the Mountain Pass and the creche. Obviously that'll go poorly, although Sascha is still going to be like, yeah, the one in the Prism is shifty, sure, I'll kill them. So that'll put a dampener on any potential relationship!

Act 2: I am… actually not sure how to navigate the Shadow-Cursed Lands here, without getting the lyre from either Minthara or Nere, or attacking the convoy. Hm. Might just have to do a straight shot for Moonrise. AFAIK Minthara can be rescued here and Sascha is just "yeah fine why not". Largely skipping the Last Light, so no Jaheira, and, later, no Minsc, so final team will be Sascha, Gale, Astarion, Shadowheart, Lae'zel, and Minthara. Does the Gauntlet for Shadowheart's sake, but will encourage her not to kill their fellow aasimar, so at least someone is getting a good end XD;; Okay they don't seem to like many other aasimar so, uh, sorry Aylin. Otherwise, makes themself at home at Moonrise and wreaks havoc while they're not looking while in the process of Learning Everything. And, uh, the Shadow Curse is not getting lifted, although tbh I think that was a given since I'm pretty sure Halsin dies if you don't get involved with the Grove-Goblin conflict ;_;

Act 3: Learning about the Emperor - they fuckin' knew it -_- When they meet Raphael later, doesn't agree to the deal, but does plan to steal the hammer instead. They want that crown for their bae, okay.

Character arcs: Gale - go for the crown, babe, I'll hold your flower. Shadowheart - she's already turned from Shar, let's just complete the process. Encourages her to let her parents go. Okay maybe she will go Dark Justiciar :| Astarion - …tragically I think they'd encourage Ascension I'm so sorry Astarion bby. Sascha is just, "Get revenge! Fuckin' eat him!" Lae'zel - reject Vlaakith, free Orpheus - although that's in part to spite the Emperor tbh. Don't know what's happening with Minthara, I guess we'll find out!

Endgame: Once they have the stones, have Orpheus turn illithid. Ultimately, destroy the Netherbrain, then encourage Gale to get the crown and become a god. For the epilogue, become a god alongside him. This won't go badly at all!

On the plus side, if I'm doing God!Gale romance here, I might be able to skip one of the several Astarion runs I have planned, and just do the "they actually do make each other better this time" run?

bit disappointed in fellow proshippers who assume bsky's safety post about dealing with reported csam (which they have done BEFORE, the post said they just have a higher volume of reports because of the website's very sudden growth) has something to do with anime characters, and that the moderation team makes lists of lolishos to block

And for sure, the moderation on bsky isn't perfect and can change but it's incredibly weird to go "the vibe is off with that app" while choosing to remain on xshitter, where the most hostile people ever flourish and where ACTUAL CSAM is shared, not dealt with and where they are ENCOURAGED to post it???

Where was the energy when Pillowfort decided to break its own rules and ban people for posting lolisho? They didn't just lump it in with csam, they also decided that it suddenly went against their own rules.

ISTG, just because bsky can't accomodate everyone doesn't mean it's suddenly your enemy, but now I know why some vocal people stayed behind and continued to discourse and break their own dnis

Yeah, I think some ppl are too hostile towards bsky. Some proshipper friends of mine have actually seen CSEM on twitter. Which ofc they've reported it to cybertips and everything. But it's honestly scary how you can just...see CSEM by scrolling through social media. It makes me not wanna use socmed as a whole. I personally only have twitter now so I can still see Link Click art from artists. I've also been trying to block more antis frequently. Because one just straight up sent me uncensored gore because I'm a proshipper. God I hate it here.

Why I Play Fighting Games

You know, I sometimes ask myself why I'm so dedicated to fighting games. Especially when I think back to how, for many years, I avoided them entirely because of big name toxic streamers and the toxic attitudes I've seen from fighting game players I knew personally.

I think I now have an answer that I'd like to share with you.

Characters and Story

So first, I know that story has never been the MAIN thing for fighting games. Stories and endings are usually very simple and straight forward. And even today, I'd never dare compare most fighting game stories to in depth tales spun in RPGs (Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous) and certainly not from print books. However, there is gold to be had and a huge part of that comes from the characters.

For example, as a transgirl, Bridget's discovery of her transness in Strive was mindblowing. And it got me to get back into fighting games. It's easy to want to cheer on the struggles of characters when you can understand their motivations and gimmick. In a way it's kinda like cheering on your favorite professional wrestlers. You can see their gimmick, you know what they're about and you want them to succeed.

In fact, I joked with my bestie that the more sympathetic I am to a character, the more likely I am to want to main them. And then I consider characters who are like me (biracial/black/creatives/entertainers/so on). And then a variety of factors. The characters I like most are all characters I sympathize with (Manon), enjoy their personalities (Leroy), or enjoy their interactions with the rest of the cast (Anre).

Vision

I won't get into details on medical things, but I have a medical condition that, at present, makes it hard for me to see small text on a screen. This has made me hunt down text size mods for Owlcat's Pathfinder games so I could actually read the text as I played. Or supersize my UI in FFXIV so I could actually function.

This is also why I'm fine with more actiony games and why I welcome voice acting when I can get it. I love to read. But I hate squinting or shoving my face in front of a book or screen when text is too small.

Fighting games, for the most part, don't provide this problem for me. The characters and sprites, particle effects, and moves are large. Healthbars and Super meters tend to be easy to read. So my vision doesn't really become a hindrance to how I play. Simply put, I can play this game without a lot of extra hoop

Mastery

Finally, I am not, in any shape of the word, a master at fighting games. But, I am getting better each time I pick up the controls and battle with my friends or with strangers in ranked. The game never changes and, barring patches and updates, the tools don't change. So I can feel myself growing better.

I remember a discussion about intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in videogames in Super Eyepatch Wolf's Shenmue 3 vid. I can look back and see how I've improved as I play. And that's a feeling I can't get out of most rpgs.

For example, when I think about how proud i was to make it into silver with Luke in SF6, I was not very good. I didn't know combos. I didn't understand frames, and I barely knew how to anti-air. But now, I'm good enough that I can pick up the basics of a character fast. I can see my gameplay AS I play and point out my own mistakes. In short, I'm much better and I can keep getting better.

So That's Why I...

There are other reasons of course. Like I haven't talked about how much music, visuals, and vibe get me into fighting games. Like I love character and stage themes. I love how massive these weird fighter personalities can get. And I adore the hype of new characters and the tournament scene. In fact, I hope to one day make my own Evo push (even if I end up losing in Pools, I want to try and see how far I can go).

It's also why I've been playing more fighters both on and off twitch. And why I invite you to play fighting games if you are even slightly interested. I realize that competition and pvp can be scary and frustrating for a lot of players, so I would say seek out fighters with rich singleplayer modes.

Here's a short list and explanation on games I think might be good to look into. I am not saying these are the best of the best or even the best for new players (since I also enjoy games like The Black Heart). These are just the ones I personally enjoy and I'm sure more experienced fighter gamers will have better suggestions.

Street Fighter 6: World Tour Mode, ON ITS OWN is worth the price of entry. You get to play a created character going through a story. While the story is mid at best, the fun part is learning how to play via the minigames and challenges, meeting the signature characters and learning stories about them, and creating disgusting busted combos of moves that you pick up as you play Best of all, you don't need to buy season passes to use dlc character moves for your create a character. And you also have the standard story mode, an arcade with classic games you can play on your own, and recently a mode to train against virtual opponents at various skill levels. Good shit.

Tekken 8: Similarly to SF6, there's an arcade quest mode. Which is built to teach you how to play. And it gives you advice geared towards the characters you want to use. And the character episodes are very short runs with five fights for an ending that's often silly and nonsensically enjoyable. I will say that the main "story mode" is meh for me, but I'm told that a) Tekken's story was always a secondary thing and b) This is my first Tekken so I don't know anything about these characters before I played.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising: So the main reason to try this game is that it's free to try. You get to play some of the single player story mode, the "not-Fall Guys" mode, and you can play with Gran and a rotating pool of two other characters. Obviously, there are things about the free to play mode that stinks, but I'd say getting to try a good game for the price of free is NOT a problem.

Anywho, if you play Fighting Games, I'd love to hear what draws you to them.

❤ Before the two of you started dating he'd go out of his way to make you fall on purpose. Sometimes he'd just straight up push you over. He doesn't do this anymore (and doesn't even think about it) but-

❤ He is incredibly straight forward so his playful jabs at you went from being directed at your way of speaking to being directed at how you must be a bimbo or all-looks-no-brain to the point where you found yourself wondering: does he think I'm attractive?

❤ Which ^ even though he laid it on thick, your insecurity made you unconvinced.

❤ He tries to antagonize himself but no matter how much he scares you, you were still kind to him and wanted to help him with whatever he needed from you.

❤ You make him blush like no tomorrow.

❤ He will literally treat you like royalty once the two of you get together.

❤ He makes sure you feel secure and he makes sure nobody ever picks on you. He will socially destroy anybody who dares try and bully you or harass you.

❤ Will watch whatever horror movies you wanna watch - it's a vibe for him.

❤ Sometimes he will get rather fatherly and do things like brush your hair while you ramble on - this is an activity he considers to be something along the lines of a form of comfort whenever you are stressed.

❤ You weren't very secretive about your trauma. When you had told him, he was very taken aback. Afterwards, it would cross his mind whenever you looked at him with that wavering smile you have.

❤ It keeps him up at night sometimes. He's never thought about somebody else's mishaps before, and he's never thought to.

❤ Your hair is something that is a work in progress because all of the disorganized hubba jubba is very unclassy. He needs it to get even lengthed (nothing else matters to him, just, can your hair not be choppy, please?).

❤ Whenever you fall he will sigh (sometimes dramatically).

❤ Sometimes he helps you up.

❤ Sometimes he just watches you.

❤ And sometimes when you fall into him, he will completely gasp as if you've offended him (with his cheeks bright pink).

❤ There's also some of him opening his mouth to ask can you hand me my glasses before being like nooo noo I shouldn't say that.

❤ He does like the sight of you in business casual, the sight gets him a bit flustered (a bit pink in the nose, if he were to say so himself {get it? that's layered. i'm so funny}).

❤ Sometimes the buttons of your shirt break and he will strip off his top coat and make sure it covers any of your mishaps.

❤ Your constant apologies doesn't annoy him, actually.

❤ You get caught off guard whenever he looks at you with amazement in his eyes. Every single time you're like oh no, he's gone insane but no he is just genuinely in love with you.

❤ ^ Like before the two sleep at night, while he's peeling away his tie and unbuckled and unbottoned everything on him, he likes to have casual conversations, which is something you very much were unprepared for when you first started sharing bed. It's unsuspected to you, especially the way his glances give you the impression that he actually wants to hear what you have to say, therefore, the impression that he vaguely considers you his equal.

❤ Astonishing! It makes you flustered, but not as flustered as he makes you when he sleeps on your chest. Such a vulnerable position...

Kaede Akamatsu

❤ She never hesitates to help you when you fall, and this also goes for metaphorically, too. Whenever you are insecure or unsure, she will not hesitate to boost your moods and your spirits. She loves seeing you when confidence fills your face, it makes her feel good as well, knowing she can instill worthy faith into somebody she cares about.

❤ Sometimes, even when you're crying, she's going to grab your hands and start doing cheerleading poses with them. It makes everybody else in the room observe awkwardly.

❤ She can teach you how to play piano without stuttering, she can teach you how to take care of things like your fingers, and you can teach her how to take care of her hands if they were to get injured. It makes her very happy to know that you can provide quick medical treatment.

❤ She can and she will braid your guys hair together.

❤ She will also, while she's at her performances, make announcing vocalize that the piece goes out to you, so that even from a long distance you can know that she is thinking about you.

❤ Also speaking of you falling, you know she is going to like 100% glance up your skirt for at least a second whether on accident or purpose.

❤ She loves the nurse outfits that you put on sometimes. They have her saying flirty comments.

❤ She flirts with you a lot! It makes you all blushy, which causes her to say more things. She always kisses your cheek, or your forehead, or all over your face just to make sure you know she means the compliments she gives.

❤ She will leave little notes around for you to find, too. And she tries to slip notes into your lunches for work.

❤ ^ She is always busy, though, so it doesn't always work out. Whenever she can't sneak one in, she makes sure to just text you it instead.

❤ No matter how much practice she commits herself to and how many performances she has to travel to go to, she always reaches out.

❤ ^ Pshh she thinks about you all day every day, how could she not?!

❤ She takes your insecurity into deep consideration.

❤ Always asks if you're okay with the sweetest voice in the world.

❤ The apologizing and the self-deprecation is language she tries to break up, and she does succeed in changing your word choices, as she reminds you every time your brain doesn't. She's trying to get that negative affirmation business out of your mouth.

❤ She just loves how much you listen to her! If she gives advice then you're going to remember it, which is something that doesn't often happen to her, since even though she gives people tons of help, she finds they tend not to listen to her.

❤ You're a big listener.

❤ ^ (And you're a big listener when it comes to her playing piano at all hours of the night).

Mondo Oowada

❤ Grabs you with one hand and keeps you in his elbow before just carrying you around like that. This is fall-proof.

❤ A big romantic moment shared between the two of you is the moments that happen when you bandage him up.

❤ ^ He'll be all scrapped from hanging out and it gives you a happiness that only a nurse who loves their shirtless boyfriend can achieve.

❤ ^ He sits on the bathtub, often with an irritated look on his face, as you clean him up. He's not irritated at you, of course. He just looks like it when it comes to being so complaisant.

❤ He likes sleeping on his back while you lay on his chest. When he can't sleep, he'll just lay there and play with your hair.

❤ He knows how clumsy you are so therefore, he is very careful whenever he manages to get you on the back of his bikes. He might just install some strange form of a seatbelt just so he can make sure you don't fly off. He drives a lot of the time with you in front of him, too.

❤ Will literally just threaten to run anybody over that you are uncomfortable with - like, even if they aren't doing anything wrong, oh you're uncomfortable, say goodbye to them! (he doesn't actually do it).

❤ The presence of him behind you is a very protective thing, for sure! And he likes following you around because of it.

❤ Sometimes when he's off with his gang, one of them will get hurt, and he'll be like. "Yeah well, you know, what you're supposed to do is grab something or whatever and wrap it, I guess."

❤ ^ Very intelligent (he thinks he knows better than them because he's seen you put on a bandaid - who cares if it's a common practice, his baby is a nurse, god damnit!).

❤ He's :. less worried to get hurt in the long-run. You always get a lot calmer and a lot more natural-seeming whenever you are bandaging him, he considers that side of you to be the real you: a you without the anxiety and apologies and guilt.

❤ Which, he handles those traits as if they were nothing at all, which is both a bad and a good thing.

❤ He'll never get offended by your insecurity or your bad demeanor. He will never get mad at you for it and he will certainly never blame you or him for it existing.

❤ That does mean that he will hardly console you, instead throwing a teasing remark and patting you on the back, thinking that that is enough to calm your nerves.

❤ A part of him knows he can be doing more, but the idea of it makes him uncomfortable. He's not to good at that kinda stuff, and it's not as if he wants to, either, with is his selfishness peaking through (which he is well aware of). You always be making him scratch the back of his neck while looking off to the side.
