idea/headcanon: The First Jiang, founder of the sect, was much like JC, they built their home for all the feral goblins that followed them around and dealt with the boring bits to keep the home steady and safe while feral ones ran rampant and kept the water/land safe(ish) and while the disciples have been and remain feral goblins, the sect leader has always needed to be their touchstone, their kite string, JC is that for them, JFM was not, JC is true Jiang

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this meta! The kite string analogy is sheer perfection. However, I would like to pose an alternate theory! Jiang Chi was as much of a feral gremlin as you could ever hope for!

His wife, however, was the MOST type-A person the jianghu could have produced.

SHE was the one who helped build the fledgling sect. SHE was the one who kept her charismatic but disorganized husband on-track. SHE was the one who made sure the sect was able to survive past its founders' lives.

And Jiang Chi adored her for it.

Jiang Chi thought his wife was the most amazing thing since pork buns. Jiang Chi trusted his wife more than he trusted himself. Jiang Chi spent every day of his long and successful life expressing his undying gratitude and appreciation to his cultivation partner.

Jiang Fengmian fell short of his ancestor's legacy when he failed to recognize his son's and his wife's contributions to the success of the sect. And Jiang Cheng, zi Wanyin, is the true heir to his ancestor's most precious person.

Jiang Chi considered himself a reasonable man.

For instance, the world was full of sorrows and tragedies, and the uncertainty of what one's own fortune might contain could kill a person as slowly and agonizingly as a long fever. Therefore, it was only reasonable to live each day as it it were your last, finding joy wherever possible and embracing challenges with open arms and an eagerness to conquer. Seeking out said challenges was also reasonable, as they couldn't be avoided anyway so what the hell, right?

There were other people like himself who simply couldn't bear the utter tedium of farming. Therefore, it was only reasonable that he gather such a group of like-minded people and carve out an alternative lifestyle for themselves. And Jiang Chi liked the water (especially the quick escape it offered), so building said alternative lifestyle around ships was certainly the most reasonable solution.

There were many things of beauty and value in this world that were hoarded by selfish men. Therefore, it was only reasonable that he liberate such treasures and redistribute them to parties that would appreciate them more, including parties that happened to be named Jiang Chi. And it was likewise reasonable to avoid killing those selfish men whenever possible, because then they'd be alive to gather more cool stuff for Jiang Chi to redistribute in the future!

His men---being pirates---must be able to react to unexpected conditions and be as at home in the water as on their ship. Therefore, it was only reasonable that he periodically shove members of his crew overboard from time to time. Laughing at them was also reasonable, as it encouraged camaraderie and assured his men that he wasn't mad at them even if he did think their reaction time was shit.

Yes indeed, it could not be argued but that Jiang Chi's reasonableness was immaculate and all-encompassing.

So as he stared at the arrow that had missed his ear by a literal hair---still quivering from where it was embedded in the mast---and let his gaze follow the projectile's trajectory to its origin to find the most no-nonsense, authority-reeking, bitchy-looking woman he'd ever seen standing on the nearby river shore, a lotus tucked behind her ear as she held her bow at the ready while a ragtag group of banditish-looking fellows held themselves at the ready behind her...

Well, it was only reasonable that he fell instantly, utterly, and irrevocably in love.

good news: I have installed a mod that translates Disco Elysium in italian so my friend can play faster! and I could theoretically recommend the game to another person who struggles with english!

bad news: the translation was done automatically and is very mediocre. Kim doesn't even use the polite third person with Harry like he does in other languages

good news: I found the way to modify it myself!

bad news: it takes an unbelievable amount of time. just switching Kim's lines from second to third person is a burden

I'll fix some things when they'll come up if they're particularly bad, like the pissing competition translation (it should be "competizione a chi piscia più lontano". and "competizione di pisciate". probably. better than translating piss as anger for sure)

To the anon asking for advice on breaking being fickin to their therapist, it really depends on how you kin, but since most of mine are spiritual I just started by referring to them as past lives and teaching her terminology as we went along, but I haven't approached coping or psychological kin yet
