Not sure where to ask this, so im posting here as well as some forums BUT:
Basically I really love using Figma for making interactive menus. I have used Figma for mocking up websites and mobile apps before at my job, and in my odd time I’ve taken to using figma to prototype and make sketches of things like UI and flowcharts for the game my friends and I are developing. And even more recently I prototyped a fully custom, nice-looking, interactive character sheet for my character in the current campaign im playing.
Now, It’s got me thinking: I would really, really love to build custom character sheets for people as a side job as its something i genuinely enjoy doing. But the problem is, figma will not exist forever and I have foreseen that it might be a pain to build someone a prototype and I am the sole person to make updates whenever their character levels, they get new gear etc and I don’t really like the idea of forcing people to make an account for a tool they wont want to learn or use outside of the prototype i send them. Additionally, Figma prototype is ultimately not ideal for more distinguished and specific character sheets as I’d like for it to be.
For example, I would love to make buttons that a user can tap to mark how many death saves they have succeeded or failed, I want the user to be able to mark for inspiration and conditions, etc. I know I could possibly feasibly make it work all inside one scrollable frame, but the way I prefer to set up the character sheets requires navigating to different frames with buttons.
What other good alternatives are there? I like to make these character sheets for mobile use (phones and tablets) so should I jump to app development? I don’t mind learning new or more complicated softwares, just as long as the software is free, there’s a free trial long enough for me to learn the gist of the software, a single larger purchase for a license for a good amount of features, or the cost for subscription is low. Is Godot a good software to use for this? My team is learning godot anyway for our game as we were discouraged from Unreal Engine.

flight rising needs a mobile app so badly and any time someone tries to suggest it in their forums a swarm of joyless gatekeepers explain condescendingly how it's too much resources. and it's like having the game easily portable with a interface actually meant for my phone is infinitely more exciting than a new type of dragon or familiar rollout I don't mind if it takes a lot of resources if it makes daily play of the game feasible for people who don't have infinite time at an unfirewalled computer

Tumblr media
🎶 Winamp, the iconic media player, first captured our hearts back in 1997. Developed by Justin Frankel and Dmitry Boldyrev of Nullsoft, Winamp became a sensation with its customizable skins, music visualizations, and robust media library. By 2001, it boasted over 60 million users, making it one of the most downloaded Windows applications of its time.
💾 From its early days as a trailblazer in the MP3 era to its recent revival under the Llama Group (formerly Radionomy), Winamp has evolved while maintaining its core charm. The latest version, 5.9.2, released in April 2023, continues to support a thriving community of enthusiasts.
👑 Exciting news is on the horizon as Winamp prepares to go partially open-source on September 24, 2024, paving the way for new innovations and a resurgence in its popularity. Stay tuned for what’s next in the Winamp legacy!

I think I'm going to start posting about my upcoming game on here, currently in soft launch! It's version 1.3 of Ready Set Golf! A thread!
Tumblr media
Before we start - a little back story. Back in 2020 my small team at PikPok made Ready Set Golf for Snapchat. Made in PlayCanvas, it was our first true online multiplayer title, so there was a lot of learning to do!
Tumblr media
But it was pretty basic. It was "Golf Forever", no real meta-game to keep you playing, or things to earn. Still, very fun! The game is no longer available on that platform, so we've been porting it over to truly try our a real online multiplayer game!
Tumblr media
Over the last year we've ported it to a new codebase and redone the multiplayer. We changed the game's "unlimited" play to instead be best over 5 rounds, which has made the game way more engaging. We've also added a Level Up system.
Tumblr media
So what's in this 1.3 update? Customization! Finally! When we made the original version of this game for Snapchat, we weren't able to get this in. Now, we can!
Tumblr media
In the last update we added a simple level up system, which would give you power ups after playing through games. Now it'll also give you a full customizable item!
Tumblr media
Players can earn 4 kinds of customization - Balls, Trails, Flags and Hole Effects. Fun fact - the original game's balls, being a single color, didn't actually roll! So it was surprisingly complicated to get this working here.
Tumblr media
One of the neatest additions we've done compared to other games is the Flag. When you win a hole, the flag switches over to yours! A new way to show off to others.
Tumblr media
We've got a whole bunch of stuff in here for this update. The artists had a real fun time making awesome particles for the trails and effects, and the balls are so cool!
Tumblr media
The game is currently in soft launch in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and now Canada! If you're in those spots, check it out!
iOS: https://apps.apple.com/th/app/ready-set-golf/id1669577248?platform=iphone
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pikpok.golf.play&gl=TH
My brother and Dad are big fans of real golf, and I like olf games, so I'm happy we're able to bring this back and do some new, cool stuff with it.
Tumblr media
Now we're working hard on 1.4! Here's a sneak peek 👀

Key Benefits of Progressive Web Apps (PWAs)
Tumblr media
Improved Performance: PWAs are designed to load quickly, even on slow networks. They use caching and service workers to ensure fast and reliable performance, providing a smooth user experience.
Offline Functionality: PWAs can work offline or in areas with low connectivity. By caching essential resources, they allow users to access content and continue interacting with the app even when they're not connected to the internet.
Cross-Platform Compatibility: PWAs are built using standard web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, making them accessible on any device with a web browser, whether it's a desktop, tablet, or smartphone.
Cost-Effective Development: Unlike native apps that require separate development for different platforms (iOS, Android, etc.), a single PWA can work across all devices. This reduces development and maintenance costs significantly.
No App Store Approval Needed: PWAs bypass the app store submission and approval process, allowing businesses to launch updates and new features instantly without waiting for app store reviews.
Increased Engagement: PWAs can send push notifications, encouraging users to return to the app. This helps businesses maintain ongoing engagement and drive user retention.
Easy Installation: Users can install PWAs directly from their browser, without the need for an app store. The app icon appears on the user's home screen, providing quick access without taking up much storage space.
Enhanced Security: PWAs are served over HTTPS, ensuring secure data transmission and protection against unauthorized access. This builds user trust and safeguards sensitive information.
SEO Friendly: Since PWAs are essentially websites, they are indexed by search engines, improving their discoverability through organic search results, unlike native apps, which are only searchable within app stores.
Automatic Updates: PWAs update in the background without requiring user intervention. This ensures users always have the latest version, complete with new features and bug fixes, without the hassle of manual updates.
Seamless User Experience: PWAs combine the best features of web and mobile apps, offering an app-like experience with smooth animations, intuitive navigation, and responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and devices.
These benefits make PWAs an attractive option for businesses looking to enhance their digital strategy and provide a superior user experience across all platforms. You know those mobile ads that show you footage of incredibly easy games, but the player keeps making dumb mistakes like "uw ow, i puwwed the wwong pin and now the hot wava is buwning the pwincess" which makes you instinctively feel like a genius because you know that you should have pulled the water pin first? And then the actual game is just normal-person hard, or completely different than the ad?
That's how I feel about Taskmaster. Every task I'm like "oh those idiots, you should always check under the table, I could do that better." And then I end up watching hours of it and realize I'm the idiot who got suckered into watching their television program by expert clickbait content creators.
