We need to boycott ads.
I’m being so serious, ads are eating us alive. I have made it my goal to avoid being swallowed by advertisements in any way possible, and I think everyone else should do the same.
Play CD’s instead of Pandora or Spotify, watch DVD’s instead of streaming services (or, if not possible, mute your TV when ads start), purposefully look away from billboards, delete brain melting mobile games, read books, play video games (as I believe Steam has banned any games with advertisements, good for them), and most importantly, avoid, or even delete, yes DELETE any and all social media.
Our lives should not be spent being force fed ads - having them shoved down our throats constantly and consistently. It’s disgusting. The only media I still entertain that have advertisements are those that use them in a normal, RESPECTFUL way, like in my opinion, Tumblr. Tumblr is the perfect example of ads that can coexist with humans peacefully - you can easily scroll past them, they are skippable, for the most part unobtrusive, and usually actually quite humorous. No mind grating noises and AI voices. No medications with a billion side effects or the same car ad that you’ve seen so many times you’ve memorized it.
We need to boycott ads not only because they are annoying, but also because they are a VIRUS of capitalism. They want your attention - give them nothing. If they insist on increasing in quantity, increase your disapproval and avoidance. They feed on our attention, on our money, on our lives; boycotting ads in any way possible may just change their approach, and in turn, their presence in society.
