Fic: Bringing Back the Bodies

They are both on the table, Sam and Drake, side by side in death as in life. They’ll be buried side by side too, Ross thinks. In the Poldark section of the graveyard, though they did not bear the name. Demelza’s brothers close to her daughter. So much loss in her life.

Spoilers for 4.01.

An angsty character study of Ross, wrapped in the ‘what if’ of ‘what if he couldn’t save Sam and Drake from hanging in 4.01?’.

Because obviously I have to write all the angsty AUs.

Fic Writer’s Week 2017-Day 2B: The Muses

On day 2, we are to use our own talents to show our appreciation for fics we like. Since I didn’t learn of this celebration until this past Saturday, I didn’t have time to write or draw anything.

But I am a musical person. I love music. It inspires me. If writing were like painting, music is that extra dab of color mixed in to make the color mix more vivid.

Another one of my favorite fic authors is @mmmuses. To show my appreciation for her writing talent, I decided to create a playlist based on the work in progress, anacrusis, which is from the Poldark fandom (this one is explicit, so please heed the warnings). The playlist contains music referenced in the story. There are other pieces of music on this list that are not in the story, but they remind me of this story.

September Song is a piano piece that was used in the show Big Little Lies. When I recently rewatched it and heard that piece, I thought of anacrusis.

I'm feeling greatly disappointed.

I asked my sister to help me move my things to my new place. But while we're eating, we've gotten into a fight.

Now she just left me. Alone.

I broke down crying in a public place. It was so embarrassing.

I should have known the signs. She prioritizes playing this mobile game. The first time I heard her complain and say that she would have gone to the mobile game event rather than help me, I should have asked someone else help me move out. But she said she couldn't buy any tickets to the event, so I assumed she was free and she actually even agreed to assist me.

But now I'm alone. I have a new job on Monday and it's 2-3 hours away from my current boarding house. So I worked hard to look for a new place that's walking distance from my new job.

I'm miserable because I expected too much. I really trusted that my sister will help me out. But she disappointed me again. Why is this happening

Hello bekysue115! My Harry Potter writings are available on PhoenixSong.net, a Harry/Ginny archive I helped to found way back in 2004 (I think). “The New Professor”, a WIP, has pretty much been abandoned...unfortunately. Poldark has grabbed my brain, but I do reserve the right to return to it one day.

But I’m not done yet.

While I don’t actively write fan fiction anymore, I did at one time, write it. I wrote it at a time when there was no AO3. I even had my own website where I posted it because I belonged to a “group” where part of the requirement was to have your own site and password protect stories with mature content. 

Anyway, the fandom was the Trixie Belden book series, which I read as a kid and enjoyed. (I have this thing about smaller, obscure fandoms for some reason).  Let’s just say, though, that the online fandom was the most dysfunctional I’ve ever experienced and the drama within the Poldark fandom pales in comparison to this. 

But let’s just say that alternate universes, smut that wasn’t “lights out, missionary”, ‘shipping anyone other than the OTP’s in the books, writing about a character other than the main one, and taking of chances was severely frowned upon and discouraging for anyone who wanted to write fiction. 

My own fic rec is an AU post-vietnam story about one of the gang. You don’t need to know anything about the Trixie Belden books to know what’s going on.
