Another reason why Chloe being kicked off and being replaced by Zoe during Season 3 and 4 is because merchandise wise, it makes no sense.
Like look at how much merchandise we had of Chloé as Queen Bee with the other heroes introduced in Season 3 while it was in production along with Season 4.
They were basically hinting that Chloe was gonna be a permanent holder. That she was gonna be a part of Team Miraculous for good. That she was ACTUALLY GONNA fucking change and redeem!
But no, last minute during production, our good friend Thomas Astruc went "Oh wait a minute, I forgot that I hate this character so much that she deserves every harsh treatment and hate in the world because I fucking despise teenager girls for some odd reasons!" ^^
And the rest is history as we know it.
Seriously, why have Queen Bee on your merchandise if you're gonna retire her? Why have her with the Season 3 heroes if she was never gonna interact with them other than expose them while teamed up with the bad guy? What's the point?
Yeah, I know the real answer is money. Obviously. I know how capitalism works, honey.
But seriously, if you weren’t gonna use her, don't have her at all.

"Miraculous Cafe" toy.
Do they even sell this in the U.S.? Since the commercial's in English I assume so.
I have difficulty imaging Tom and Sabine selling coffee in their patisserie.
Does Marinette drink coffee? Imagining her cramming for a test, gulping espresso, then having to transform into Ladybug. Tikki would get a headache. But Ladybug would sure kick Hawk Moth's ass.

🧢 seokmin x pitching instructor!reader.
take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd ♫ the one where seokmin took lessons for his pitching... only to still update you with his progress even after your sessions have ended. inspired by this tweet. short headcanons + bonus content under the cut.
⚾️ let me root, root, root for the home team .ᐟ
IT'S ONE...
there's a handful of things that seokmin really, really loves outside of his idol life, and most of them have to do with baseball. the fit of a new cap on his head. the satisfying crack of the ball against a bat. the sun beating down on him as he steps up to the pitcher's mound. that's why his smile is incandescent when he arrives at your first lesson— it's going to be a good day. he can feel it in his bones. "hello! i'm lee seokmin. we talked over text," he greets you, all dimpled grin and boyish charm. when you ease him in to your coaching, he finds himself zoning out a little more than usual. once or twice, you have to repeat your question for him, because he'll snap back to attention with a sheepish 'huh?' and an apologetic chuckle. he doesn't quite know why he's so distracted. he resolves to do better in future lessons. (the answer: seokmin got busy watching you pitch.)
TWO...
seokmin is pouting at his phone like it has personally wronged him. he knows you can't see him, but you can probably feel the downturn of his mouth through his texts. because what do you mean, you deleted his number?! he's scandalized. heartbroken. this is probably one of the worst things that has ever happened to him, he laments. i mean, sure, he can see the rationale for you deleting your students' numbers after they're done with training. you had dozens of tutees, after all. seokmin, though, is your self-proclaimed favorite. isn't he? he grumbles a bit to himself as he jams out a couple more emoji-laden responses to you. he can't place why he's so upset over something so minor. he chalks it up to the fact that he's always been dramatic, anyway. (the answer: seokmin hadn't wanted you to forget him.)
THREE STRIKES, YOU'RE OUT!
this is one of those things seokmin doesn't think he'll ever forget— the look on your face when he smugly hands you a paper bag of merchandise he bought from the MLB. he doesn't mention the fact that he had to pay extra luggage fees just to haul all of it back home for you. it's a small concession to make if the prize is your disbelieving laugh and your giddy smile. the two of you are out for dinner and he's regaling you with tales of his trip, play-by-plays of the games he watched live. for the most part, you're the perfect audience. but, then, at one point— you playfully nab the dodger's cap atop his head before trying it on for yourself. "how do i look?" you tease, tipping the visor down over your eyes. he feels something, then, something that he can't put into words. so all he does is chase you down the sidewalk, the two of you laughing all the way. (the answer: seokmin felt like you'd done a home run on his heart.)

I think the merchandise actually hurts the show overall.
You don’t see a lot of merch with shows like gravity falls or Star vs the forces of evil or owl house cause they had stories to tell, even if the plot takes a bit to get going.
MLB reminds me of shows from the 80s, which while beloved by the people who grew up with them, would randomly add new plot points or vehicles or powers just to sell another toy.
I know at some point merchandise was the main way cartoons made money but that might’ve been limited to certain series and time periods as a google search now says it’s mainly from licensing to streaming services so idk how important merch is in actuality
But anyway
It at least looks like they’re adding all sorts of random “power-ups” for the sake of making more toys but when you look at the actual selection available there really isn’t that much variety? We got the whole miracuclass and barely any toys to show for it so what was the point? Why did they subject me to that if they’re not even getting money out of it? Sadistic

a street interview: mason mctavish
tagging: @ivy-34, @francesfarhadi, @hzstry8, @cixrosie, @itsnotgray, @estapa94, @trevs-swiftie, @heartz4hischif you want to join the taglist let me know!!
mason was walking through the mall with trevor and jamie when he got stopped by a girl holding a microphone.
"hi i have a podcast and this weeks theme is sports so I was wondering if you guys would be interested in answering a question on one of america's major sports," you spoke.
"what do you mean?" trevor asked, looking between his friends.
"well, i'll ask you a question from either the nhl, nba or mlb and if you guys answer it you can win a prize if you're interested," you explained.
the three boys looked at each other and nodded.
you turned to your friend and started rolling the camera. “okay choose a category, nhl, nba or mlb,”
trevor answered first “nhl.”
“the nhl is comprised of 32 teams with 7 of them being canadian. can you name the 7 canadian teams in the nhl?” you asked.
“toronto maple leafs!” mason exclaimed first.
the three then huddled into a group to think of the rest. “what about cole’s team?”
“montreal canadiens!”
“hey isn’t hughes in canada?” jamie asked
“omg the vancouver canucks!” trevor picked up on quickly.
“you guys have a minute to name the other four,” you prompted.
trevor looked at you appalled “hey, you never said it was timed!” he argued. you shrugged at him “now you know,”
“edmonton oilers and calgary flames,” mason added.
jamie and trevor tried their hardest to think of the last two teams but failing short they looked to mason.
“ottawa senators and umm i think the winnipeg jets,” he added.
you smiled at mason and nodded. “congratulations you guys are correct! and you’ve got a little prize. the three of you are the owners of the coffee hours podcast new merchandise and these tickets to the long beach indy car grand prix!” you handed the three their prize.
mason put his beanie on and smiled at the camera as trevor inspected everything.
you signalled to your friend to switch the camera off before turning to the three boys again. “you guys don’t have to keep the merch if you don’t want to but please use the tickets. my cousin gave them to me and i don’t know if i want to go,” you explained.
“i think my sister listens to your podcast,” trevor spoke. you smiled, your eyes twinkling at the realisation that people actually liked your content.
mason thought it was adorable.
"can i get your instagram," mason blurted.
jamie and trevor snickered at the boy as you gave him a warm smile. "sure," you held out your hand for his phone and put in your username.
it took mason three days to gain the confidence to message you. the boy stared at your profile for a whole hour before trevor forced him to say something.
"look she's half swiss and you were born in Switzerland, make conversation about that," trevor suggested.
mason shrugged. there wasn’t much to go on with that conversation starter and he knew deep down trevor also knew that.
zoe.fraser shared a video
zoe.fraser: you’re a hockey player?
“she messaged me!” mason exclaimed showing trevor and jamie his phone.
at that time, trevor’s girlfriend walked in as the boys discussed how mason should respond.
“i think you should send a shrugging emoji” - trevor
“maybe say you weren’t sure if she was a fan and didn’t think it was necessary to mention” - jamie
“girls like it when you’re a bit cocky” - trevor.
trevor’s girlfriend promptly hit her boyfriend over the head and asked mason for his phone.
“holy shit, that’s the host of the coffee hours podcast. i love her content, i always listen to her in my car,” she explained.
“mils, can you help mason?” jamie asked.
millie smiled and formulated a response.
masonmctavish: guilty 😅
zoe.fraser: well then i think you guys cheated
“you were in one of her video?!” millie exclaimed. trevor nodded and asked his girlfriend to continue her work.
masonmctavish: how about i make it up to you?
zoe.fraser: are you asking me out on a date?
masonmctavish: only if you say yes
zoe.fraser: friday 9:30, after your game
masonmctavish: you’ve got yourself a date
mason hugged millie before she moved over to trevor. millie patted the boys shoulder before settling in next to her boyfriend.
“i cant believe you met her. i would actually die and that’s saying a lot cause i’ve met fernando alonso and sebastian vettel,” millie mumbled.
trevor squeezed his girlfriends cheeks “i’ll give you the sweater she gave us. she said it was her first official merch,”
millie kissed her boyfriend before turning to mason. “you better not screw this date up,” she threatened lightly.
mason nodded, gulping hard.
that threat did not help his nerves. at all

MLB Power Pros / MLB Power Pros 2008
Tucked away in a montage of releases during the February 2023 Nintendo Direct was the announcement of WBSC eBaseball: Power Pros. Little would give any indication it’s a long-running Konami franchise without familiarity of the brand. Despite the game itself being a modest offering at 99 cents and features mainly geared towards online gaming, it was a reason to celebrate for some beyond Konami selling basic merchandise at their American store. To understand why requires going back to 2007 when the uniquely Japanese franchise came to America for a short while.

So I was thinking about 🎃 and the riddle that suggested Taylor stepped up to stunt this time to spare Karlie. "Not her, take me instead." I think this Travis Kelce stunt is what Taylor agreed to do, but I couldn't figure out how the NFL played into it, or why Karlie might have been pushed to stunt to promote them. Karlie's stunt buddy has no connection to the NFL, right?
Right?
It took a while to find. (Hilariously, most of the responses for his name and "NFL" are those shots of him and Karlie "playing ball" on the street, where Josh isn't exactly beating the accusations, if you know what I mean.) But when I switched to "Thrive Capital", I found this.
https://www.gunder.com/news/thrive-capital-co-leads-fanatics-350m-series-e/
"Gunderson Dettmer represented Thrive Capital in its co-lead investment of Fanatics, a multi-channel sports merchandise retailer, in its $350 million Series E financing. Thrive Capital was joined by Fidelity Management, Franklin Templeton Investments and Neuberger Berman Group. Fanatics is now valued at approximately $6.2 billion.
Forbes reported that the financing “is expected to help accelerate Fanatics’ rights acquisition strategy and spur further M&A activity. Fanatics already has deals with the NFL, MLB, the NBA, the NHL, MLS, Nascar and European soccer clubs, as well as more than 300 individual teams.”
This was 2020.
Explains why Karlie is always being dragged to NBA games with him and promoting her fantasy football league, and why Taylor is being so over the top in making sure we understand promoting sports merch is a big part of this deal.
I wonder what they wanted Karlie to do, that Taylor seemingly felt this was the better option?
Interesting 🤔 Good research!

Sports is a community.
Hello everyone.
I do quite like sports. I love a few of them. Specifically baseball but also hockey. I am a pretty basic fan of football. I very lightly follow sports like basketball and soccer. Sports aside from that... I mean I'll watch them but in an extremely passive way.
Now that you know that I like sports.
I am currently working on a goal: To visit every MLB stadium in the country. Remember when I said specifically baseball? I love baseball. Obviously I have my favorite teams (The Mets being number one. Cleveland Guardians, Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers...) but what I'm finding out more and more is that when I go to a stadium... I can't help but be a fan of that team.
It's like going to a specific community/sub-section's place of power. Yes, people are very excited about whatever team is there. There will be signs, merchandise, and more themed around it. But aside from some people who are more toxic (There are always a few when communities get that big) there are always mostly people who just love the game.
When I'm sat at a game I'm usually sat around a pretty nice melting pot of people: Hardcore fans, people who are fans but aren't at the fully hardcore level, new fans, and people who were brought there but aren't "fans", per se. Everything in-between as well. But that doesn't matter when it comes to a good play or especially if the home team wins. In that celebration everyone comes together. (Ideally) there is no gate-keeping and even if it's just for a few minutes everyone is unified.
Sports "divides" us only in the sense that we literally will root for different teams sometimes. But at the end of the day most of us will still be able to bond over a love of the sport.
Okay before I go further, a trigger warning.
TW: Death, DUI, mourning/tragedy.
Remember too that I love hockey. I grew up a New York Islanders fan... then later in life I became a fan of the Seattle Kraken and the Buffalo Sabres. Finally I became a Columbus Blue Jackets fan.
To those who may not be involved in sports, the hockey community recently suffered a tragic loss. Columbus Blue Jackets' forward Johnny Gaudreau and his brother and Boston College Hockey player Matty Gaudreau. They were killed by a drunk driver while they were riding their bikes. They were in town for their sister's wedding.
Over the past few days I've been to a couple of vigils. I've been to memorials at the hockey arena. Johnny was only on CBJ for 2 years. Coincidentally I've only been a fan of CBJ for around 2 years. But even with that I could tell how special Johnny was as a player and as a person.
One thing that made me a CBJ fan is the community. To that effect so many people came out the past few days. So many posts, articles, photos, and words of support were offered. It was a beautiful sense of group mourning and commiserating.
What I didn't expect was the sports outside of hockey to get as involved as they did. Of course so many hockey teams wrote and shared letters of condolences. But also multiple baseball teams in the area/surrounding/nearby states held moments of silence. The local soccer team, The Columbus Crew, who has a close tie with the Blue Jackets, shared a moment of silence as well. So many examples of not only of hockey support but sport support as a whole.
Sports can divid us in the sense that we may root for different teams. We may follow different sports. But when push comes to shove sports is a community and it can come together. And it can be somber but beautiful.
Take care everyone.

pretty disappointed how hesperia and nino have absolutely zero merchandise. even if nino is a background character and wasnt kamikotized at all, he still should have his own stuff. also mind you that hesperia is also a main character of the special and is the reason why this whole special happened, not only because of toxiclaw and alya. im completely fine with canon gabriel having no merch bc zag cares mostly abt superheroes (and im not talking abt toxiclaw that are bad turned good guys). but hespy and nino are both good guys, one of them is a superhero. we literally could have the whole The Reverstistance gang. also knowing that zag is a money-hungry person (back in 2021-2022 when there was a voice actor crisis bc he refused to give vas (voice actors) enough money until he was called out) this is quite hilarious iguess.
ik now everyone loves reverse gabriel because of his child abus3r and gr00mer counterpart that is hated by every single mlb enjoyer that i know (yet he still has his fans even if this number is low) but still.

The other reason why I hate MLB pertaining magical girls - it’s how it’s basically a perversion of Magical Girls
In the sense that, the only reason MLB is getting by, is its ability to sell merchandise.
It’s an open secret that Magical Girls are popular and get made just to sell the cute toys. But since the show has to be good to sell toys, it creates a situation ala My Little Pony where people actually try, even if ultimately it’s for a profit
But Miraculous Ladybug is capitalism concentrated.
It created a good 1st Season, enough for it to carry the weight of little kids asking their parents to buy them toys. Then it’s milked the toys and merchandise for all it’s worth, while ignoring the content it made it sell to begin - a Disney move in my opinion
