Idea: everyone in the vigilantes know Ladybug and Chat Noir’s secret identity because their evil selves accidentally detransformed in front of the others and they all promised to not tell it to anyone (except Lila who wasn’t there and so is the only one in the dark ironically).

Hilarity ensues when people start treating Marinette and Adrien differently, making them confused and worried.

That would be awesome! I actually really like the idea that more people know who's behind the mask of a superhero just to help the hero more. And the idea of Lila being the only one out of the loop and confused about what's happening is hilarious.

You are basically creating a Marinette and Adrien protection squad with this idea and the line-up is crazy, especially since you gave some of them powers XD

The Many Heroes of Paris (Vigilanteverse AU reboot)

Following the first apparition of Ladybug and Chat Noir the citizens of Paris became obsessed with the two superheroes: everyone talked about them, wanted to see them in person… and some even wanted to be them (or at least like them).

At first it was people dressing up as Ladybug and Chat Noir and attempting to fight crime (something that the real ones were quick to stop after a couple of Akuma-related incidents), but soon people began making original costumes and create their own secret identities, flooding Paris with hundreds of wannabe superheroes (something that caused Ladybug to feel that she was failing at protecting the citizens). Some retired after a couple of weeks, either because they got arrested for vigilantism or realized that they bit more than they could chew when they found themselves face to face with an Akuma, but others kept going despite the hardships they faced and the constant risk of being arrested.

Eventually the vigilante known as the Owl managed to reunite various vigilantes into a team called the Heroes of Paris with the intention of helping Ladybug and Chat Noir stop Hawk Moth and make Paris a better place. Together, these vigilantes managed to prove themselves as proper heroes and be recognized as such by the population of Paris, getting the support of major Bourgeois and the police and adding more heroes under their banner.

Everything seemed fine… except that Ladybug doesn’t like them because she is afraid that one day their actions will cause some kind of disaster, leading her to find more Miraculous wielders in a well intentioned but poorly thought plan to force the Heroes of Paris to retire for good and there’s an evil cult that worships Hawk Moth and wants to help him get the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous and are willing to do anything in order to help their master.

Will the disaster that Ladybug fears so much happen? Will Team Miraculous and the Heroes of Paris fight each other? Or they will put aside their differences and team up? And finally, will Hawk Moth win with the help of the cult?

now you gave me an idea of an au where ladybug instead of giving the miraculous to other people either uses it herself or has chat use it, she would probably use it herself more because she wouldn't want to put chat in danger but i imagine he would be just as stubborn and would say he should use more since she's more important in beating akumas and the two would just argue about it endlessly

I think Marinette just doesnt want Chat noir to get hurt anymore and thus resulting in chat noir and OTHER heroes trying to stop her and save her.

Monster AU

Amnesia!Dabi:

When Toya/Dabi wakes up in a sketchy clinic, he doesn't remember jack shit and runs for it. Thus fucking up all of AfO's plans. Even when Dabi does join the LoV (out of the assumption he must've been a villain before and wanting some ability to maybe discover who he was), he's not as useful because he doesn't remember any of his problems.

He starts remembering some things during the Forest Training Camp/Hideout Raid arc and after everything goes to shit he decides to grab Himiko(basically adopted her as a little sister) and book it once again, ending up turning them both over to the Heroes and finding out who he was.

Various shenanigans of Dabi reconnecting to a family he doesn't remember(thankfully in this au they're already in therapy) and also them leaving gets the rest of the LoV to fracture and further fuck up AfO's plans.

Vigilante au

Izuku turns down All Might's offer and becomes a vigilante instead. Intends to infiltrate the LoV to take it down from the inside, but finds out AfO is his dad and uh. Time to collect that inheritance! Jokes aside, Izuku kills AfO and takes over his criminal empire, but shuts everything down and gets the LoV running as a vigilante squad instead.

Also Himiko gets OfA because Izuku helps her get her life together and yeets her at All Might.

Villain?Izuku

Dad for One au! Technically all of these are DfO AUs. But in this one, AfO finds out about Izuku's existence. He plays a normal parent for a while but kidnaps Izuku when the boy is about 7-8.

Izuku is treated kinda like Yoichi 2.0. AfO takes care of him well, but he's not allowed to leave. He's not fully 'in the vault' yet as Izuku is still young enough to be relatively obedient, but he's getting older and more defiant.

Izuku and Katsuki never had a falling out because Izuku knows he inherited his father's Quirk. Thus she is devastated when he's kidnapped and actually went to therapy. Then ofc later (probs during the Shie Hassaikai arc), they run into each other and Katsuki kidnaps him back and refuses to let go.

Due to *gestures to above tag*, Enji commits some very justified murder. But in getting an alibi for said murders, he ends up having to pretend he's been having an affair.

This au swings wildly between taking a dark subject seriously, and the comedic shenanigans of everyone trying not to get caught. This the name 'Dark Comedy'. It is very full of tonal whiplash. I am saying this as a warning because it is NOT for everyone but I do promise that the genuine dark stuff is taken seriously it's just the other stuff that gets wild.

LoV Babies

A handful of members of the LoV, and also Hawks because ofc he got dragged in, get hit with a Quirk that de-ages them. They de-aged both physically and mentally, now fully believing they're the age they were turned to. Only able to turn back once they confront the childhood trauma they're about to face.

Kurogiri is now a 17 year old Oboro. Dabi is now a 5 year old Toya, yapping nonstop about his dad. Tomura is now a young Tenko, wondering where his family is. Hawks is now an itty bitty Keigo, an absolute cryptid child. Himiko, the only one who doesn't have a name change of these fuckers, is very small and oh so nervous about fighting the instincts of her 'monsterous' Quirk.

Naturally Oboro yoinks the kindergartners away from the LoV and to UA which. Causes even more shenanigans.

Mistaken Spirit

Crossover/Isekai into ATLA.

Post-redemption-arc, Enji gets yeeted into the ATLA world during the first half of Book 3. The locals mistake him for a Spirit of Fire, and he's invited to the Fire Nation Palace as an honored guest of the Fire Lord.

Enji can't help but see similarities to his own family, even if Ozai is far more monstrous than even at his worst. So he decides to do something about it.

ML X BNHA au (just me transplanting ML characters into BNHA world)

Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug

Quirk: Miracle (Marinette's body produces a type of red energy that uses her life force as a source. Marinette can use her energy to create physical objects that disappear after 5 minutes. She can also use her energy to heal cracks in objects and living beings, but this weakens her dramatically.)

Marinette is just a normal girl from China (Her Dad moved to China instead of her Mom moving to France) with a normal life. And a hero level quirk. Her father's bread catalyst quirk and her mother's chi flow quirk combined to make Marinette's Miracle quirk, which was deterimined by scientists to be one of the strongest powers in Beijing. It was decided, not by Marinette, that she would become a Pro-Hero and attend a Hero school of her choice to develop her powers. Marinette, who just wanted to be a fashion designer, decided to go to the Japanese school U.A. as a way to spite the Chinese order of guardians that decided to rip her from her dream, and also to see more of the world for artistic inspiration. During her first day in Japan, Marinette saw a ladybug that inspired her hero name, Ladybug; the fashion hero!

Marinette's best friends: Alya, Izuku, Momo

Adrien Agreste/ Chat Noir

Quirk: Bête Noir (Adrien has special paw pads on the palms of his hands. Whenever he touches something with his paw pads, the object breaks apart. Adrien wears special gloves so he dosen't use his power on accident. Adrien also has the ears and tail of a cat.)

Adrien's mother died while giving birth to him, which drove his father into insanity. Gabriel Agreste became Hawkmoth, the number one villain of France. After terroizing the country for years, he was finally stopped when All-might went on vacation in Paris. While Gabriel's house was being raided, All might found a small locked room with the sign "bête noir". When the room was broken into, they found a servearly neglected Adrien Agreste sleeping in a white box. The boy was rescued and placed into the custody of his British family, who were horrified by what Gabriel was doing to him. After a few years, Adrien decided to enroll into U.A. so he could thank All-might in person.

Adrien's best friends: Nino, Chloe, Izuku

Alya Cesaire/Rena Furtive

Quirk: Illusion (A common quirk that creates images using a colorful smoke emitted from the users body. Alya and Camie are two users of this quirk.)

Alya is a would be reporter from Martinique that has a secret no one knows yet... she's secretly the vigilante Rena Rouge! Because Martinique has a relative lack of heros, Alya resolved herself to protect her people from villains both within the country and without. During the day time, she uses her blog, Yipper (couldn't think of a better name, its Fox twitter) to spread useful information on villains and how to defend oneself from them. Now that Alya is at the age to legally aquire a hero license, she figured a little break to become a real hero wouldn't hurt.

ML Bandit Prince AU!

this is just me kinda dumping everything I have at least sort of figured out so far lol, this is definitely not how i’ll format the au should I develop it

ok so imma be fr I don’t have a whole lot fleshed out for this au yet, and i’m not sure how much i’ll develop it but i’m having fun with it for now!

The basic idea is alternate universe, medieval-y vibes, Gabriel is the king mourning the recent loss of his queen, Emilie. He is in ownership of all the miraculous, and they are a relatively well kept secret. When Emilie suddenly ‘dies’, Gabriel finds the black cat ring missing soon after and sort of goes into lockdown. He puts his son, Prince Adrien, under the constant protection of a 24/7 bodyguard. Said bodyguard is none other than Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a seamstress under gabriel’s teaching. He sees her fondness for Adrien as Marinette, and offers to allow her to wield the ladybug earrings so long as she keeps Adrien safe above all else, returns them when the time comes, and works with him to retrieve the stolen miraculous from the anonymous thief.

Only problem is, the thief is Prince Adrien, who discovered the miraculous and the truth behind his mother’s ‘death’ the night she was lost. He took the black cat to keep the wish out of his father’s hands and began pretending he was still the oblivious, obedient, perfect son he was made to be. The only thing he wasn’t quite prepared for was a ladybug hero vowing to protect him with her life, who was also the most beautiful girl he had ever met. and under her father’s manipulation. and maybe trying to arrest his vigilante identity.

I haven’t settled on a name for his hero identity yet, but here’s a design i made back in november!

Primarily Danny Phantom (it’s what got me into writing fanfiction to begin with; in fact, even as an 11-year-old I was writing my own Danny Phantom episodes when it was first coming out), but I also write for DC (either DP crossover or standalone) and Miraculous Ladybug that one time. I have been t e m p t e d to write more ML as well as dabble in a few others, like maybe Ted Lasso or Scooby Doo (couldn’t be more random, I know), but that hasn’t come to be yet. Let's also not forget the DP x The Office au that @tytach and @arken-99 and I were messing around with a while back 😂 I'm still tempted to go somewhere with that. (Tytach did.)

Absolutely ALWAYS, and if it’s taking me a bit to reply, just know that I’m going through it irl and I’ll get to responding to everyone ASAP. I love hearing what you guys think of my work and what in particular you’re reacting to/enjoying, so whether it’s fanboying over scenes together or explaining details you might’ve missed or just don’t quite get, I always take the time to show my gratitude for you taking a moment to share your thoughts. :)

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Pretty much none of them, to be honest? I always like to try to end on a hopeful note, if not an outright happy one, because I need hope for my own struggles lol. The only candidate I can think of would be The Theorists, but even that’s not an angsty finish. My older oneshot Taking The World by Thunder might count since Lance Thunder doesn't get a happy ending, but it's pretty much a crack fic so I still wouldn't call it angst lol

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Gosh, this is also a hard one because most of them are sort of open-ended and hopeful. I would probably nominate Night One because I love Wally and Connor’s bonding. It gives me the warm fuzzies. I also think Intervention qualifies since it's a wholesome reveal to the Fenton parents instead of the typical catastrophe (I mean, look at the reveal in Recognized, y'all).

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Only every once in a while, and it’s not really hate but more…closed-minded rejection of the fic’s idea. Like on Recognized I’ll occasionally get something along the lines of “this whole thing is confusing and over-complicated” (literally the point) or “this wouldn’t happen” (you’re reading a fic that literally takes place in a world of ghosts and aliens and people with superpowers). Only a couple times someone’s said “this is stupid” and I’m like, if I don’t like someone’s fic, I just move on and let them be because it’s what they wanted to write. Have these people never heard “you do you”?

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

HA. I can barely even write flirting.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Often, usually for DP x DC. The craziest was probably The Theorists because it features almost entirely side characters and their “conspiracy theories” about the main cast. It also wove into the Recognized storyline in the end.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of. Let me know if you find my work anywhere lol I only ever post on my main accounts: agentianlegend on tumblr and AO3 and hiimian over on FFn.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I’m not big on ships, to be honest. Though I enjoy Jason Todd x Jazz Fenton, and OH in the middle of writing this I remembered other fandoms exist lol. Marichat from ML because they’re both their most relaxed selves. Adrienette is a very close runner-up. 

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I’ve never published it or shared with anyone, but the first modern fic I wrote was a DP x Teen Titans crossover where Jack and Danny move to Jump City after tragedy takes Maddie and Jazz. Danny wants to lay low and not be a hero as he deals with the loss, but Slade has other ideas. I wrote quite a bit for it, but I don’t know if I’ll finish. It was heavily angsty when I was going through some stuff and needed catharsis. I still have it almost entirely outlined, so theoretically I could finish it. But, I don’t know. Inspired by Into the Dark by InkyIris btw (apparently a rewrite and cross-publishing is in progress on AO3!), one of the OG fics that got me involved back in the fandom.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, characterization, and action scene choreography. Or so I’ve been told lol

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Writing out scenes when I don’t love the scene as it is. The efficiency side of my brain doesn’t want to waste the energy when I know I’m going to pretty much throw it out and rewrite entirely later on. Also, romance.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Danny Phantom, even before I started publishing. (See the aforementioned episodes I wrote when I was 11.)

20. Favourite fic you've written?

If not Recognized, I would probably say Night One. It’s a quiet fic, and I love those intimate moments when these larger-than-life characters have some hurt/comfort and bonding moments.

Miraculous Vigilante AU aka shortly after their apparition, the presence of real life superheroes leads to various citizens of Paris becoming masked vigilantes, making things harder to the heroes.

Things get even harder when some criminals decide to become supervillains and Hawk Moth decides to support them in order to gain an edge on Ladybug and Chat Noir.

This prompt is actually something I wanted to write about but never found the time to do since this school semester has been busy. So, thanks for giving me some extra motivation.

I really like the idea that a bunch of civilians want to become vigilantes. Mr. Damocles and The Owl made me really enjoy the idea along with my prompt of Marinette becoming a hero without a Miraculous. Plus, there are so many ways you could go about that idea.

You could have Max study the Miraculous and try to become like Iron Man using his inventions.

You could have Kim dress up in a bunch of sports equipment and try to use it to fight.

Have Chloe spend her father's money to make a superhero outfit for her and Sabrina.

There are a lot of fun ideas you could do to make heroes without a Miraculous that will cause Ladybug and Cat Noir a headache. Plus, the idea of people becoming supervillains that Hawkmoth can use is also great. It would mean that Hawkmoth would have plenty more pawns besides Chloe and Lila and have more options for people he can give a Miraculous to if he steals one from Team Miraculous. It would also let him put the Peacock in circulation early by using these disposable pawns.

I just imagine Lila wanting to get revenge against Ladybug and Cat Noir by dressing up as a villain and doing her best to mess them up during an Akuma attack from the shadows. Throwing stuff under their feet to slip them up, trying to uncover their identity by following them, and pointing an Akuma in their direction.

Or, you could have Jalil become a villain because he got too into online conspiracy theories and refuses to see reason.

Alya stared at the picture plastered across the homepage of every single tabloid and news site, whispering every curse she could think of under her breath. SHOCKING SECRET ROMANCE BETWEEN LADYBLOGGER AND PARISIAN SUPERVILLAIN REVEALED!!! the headline announced, casually shouting the words she had been dreading for all of Paris to read. --- Alya had always assumed that someday Paris would discover that she had secretly been kissing their most wanted vigilante, but she had never thought it would happen so soon. As the domino effects of her relationship with Ladybug go spiraling through her life, Alya turns her sights towards the one responsible: the elusive superhero Hawkmoth. AKA Someone outs Alya and her girlfriend so she retaliates by deciding to take down Hawkmoth 

I recommend this to anyone who either A. Loves Alya and wants to see more of her in a starring role, or B., wants to see an AU where Parisians could feasibly believe that Hawkmoth is the good guy, and that Ladybug and Chat Noir are, if not villains, at least reckless.

She wanted to keep… him. “I understand exactly what you mean." In a world that has created a way to selectively delete memories, no moment is truly safe. So how do you hold on to something when the memory of it is gone? And how do you keep fighting for someone when you're the only one who remembers?

This is a SEVERELY underrated fic. It’s got some shades of “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” in the world, though the plot is very different - the memory erasure ain’t willing. Basically, the first few chapters are establishing Adrien’s and Marinette’s romance, and then the rest of the fic is dealing with Gabriel being an absolute DICK and using any means at his disposal to break them apart. It’s fantastic and I highly recommend reading it!

Nino was sprawled on the floor of his room with Alya when his phone chimed, in the quiet of a premature autumnal sunset. It was one of those lazy evenings that had become rare lately. Contrary to popular belief, he and Alya could get studying done when in the same room, and he was elbows-deep in late assignments, which meant his phone was on Do Not Disturb, which meant the notification could only have come from one person. So this is a “Adrien finds out that his father is Hawkmoth and consults with Nino about what to do” fic, with Nino throwing Hawkmoth off Adrien’s track, though inadvertently at his own expense. Love Nino’s perspective here, and I always enjoy a good Hawkmoth-takedown fic!

Bringing her hand closer to his lips, Adrien tried to plant a kiss on it, but Marinette pulled away before his lips could touch her. “Save it for your girlfriend,” she said teasingly. “Or do you still not have one yet?” Adrien smirked and crossed his arms. “It’s a girl,” he said. “And I know her in real life. That’s all you get. Now, let’s get back to planning, shall we? We have a mermaid to beat.”

Lovely world-building here! Merfolk and humans have had a treaty for a long time, so there’s a tradition where merfolk can challenge humans to a race, and whoever wins gets to ask for a reasonable sort of reward (in Marinette’s case, she wants to be allowed to captain a ship at a younger age than is usually allowed). Alya, Nino, and Adrien are naturally very encouraging towards Marinette, and luckily for her, a nice merman going by the name of Chat Noir shows up and challenges her to a race…

Yeah you can see where this is going XD. It’s fun, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Dragon by @liiinerle

Tomoe keeps telling Kagami about the importance of her heritage, but refuses to tell her what that heritage is. When Kagami looks it up for herself, she finds a lot of interesting information, a lot of frustration, and a deep and burning question - which Tomoe refuses to help her answer.

This is a Kagami character study, with Kagami questioning her mother’s actions, but knowing that standing up to her is a no-win proposition. It doesn’t help that D’Argencourt’s mirroring some aspects of her mother’s behavior, with being upset if she doesn’t fight well, but also being upset if she beats him. There’s no right answer here, which leads her to take out her frustration on others. Luckily, Marinette’s there to calm her down, to talk things out with her.

Justifying the Means by @ashes-555

When the worst happens, Alya finds that she may be willing to do the unthinkable. Is any sacrifice to big to make for her friends?

Once again, Ashes comes out swinging with an Alya focused fic! 

Basically, there’s a major, destructive akuma attack. During it, Ladybug orders Chat to cataclysm a building in order to stop from being trapped. Unfortunately the building collapses, injuring or killing a lot of people - unbeknownst to her, including Chat Noir. Gabriel releases the akuma, which means she has no way of fixing the damage, either.

A lot of of focus is placed on Alya and Nino worrying over Adrien, who was found in the wreckage barely clinging to life, in a coma, with the doctors unsure whether he’d make it. Shadow Moth takes advantage of their distress to make an offer: if he gets the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses, he can make a Wish to fix everything, including saving Adrien. With as dark a place as Alya and Nino are in, they seriously consider it. Especially with how unhappy both of them are with Chat Noir supposedly “abandoning” Ladybug and Paris as a whole, and Nino being angry with Ladybug for failing (since Alya knows that Marinette is Ladybug, she’s far more understanding on that front).

I love how much credence Alya’s thought and emotions are given here, and that she doesn’t go for the more drastic option right away, either - she talks with Ladybug about it first, tries to do it her way. She understands the costs, but... her friends are important to her, and she’s desperate. I think this was a really good way to present a more antagonistic sort of Alya. She’s still very much herself here, and still considers Marinette her friend, willing to do things her way to an extent, and understanding why Marinette doesn’t want to use the Wish, even though she disagrees with her. Alya’s mindset, her emotions, her problems, are given respect and credence by the narrative. She’s still willing to talk things out, she’s still sympathetic to Marinette and the enormous trauma and guilt she’s going through, she just disagrees with Marinette’s approach. She wants her friend back.

If you want a fic that has some solid focus on Alya as a person, on her emotional struggles and mindset and just... dealing with things, I highly recommend checking out “Justifying the Means”.

“He’s dating me,” Nino said, taking Adrien’s hand in his own.

Adrien could only stare back at him in shock.

“How dare you all force him to come out?” Nino continued, glaring at the reporters. “That was disgusting.” He pulled Adrien over to the car, guided him in, and shut the door behind them.

In the relative quiet and privacy of the backseat, Adrien finally processed what had just happened. “So… when were you going to tell me we were dating?”

This Adrino fic is delicious XD. Reporters keep hounding Adrien about his love life, so Nino finally gets them off Adrien’s back by fake-dating him. Problem is, Adrien’s actually been madly in love with Nino for years but has never been able to tell him. And now as they’re spending more time together, Nino’s beginning to find that he’s enjoying all these “couple” activities more than maybe he ought to if it’s entirely platonic...

If you want to see Adrien and Nino PINING for each other while “fake” dating (is it really fake if both parties want it to be real?) then you’ve come to the right fic!

Alya Cesaire is a brand new student to Francis Dupont, to Paris even. The first student she meets is one Chloé Bourgeois, and Alya is determined to make a friend. Things advance Chaotically. Her new 'friend' is definitely a handful, and suddenly Paris has a supervillain and two brand new superheroes! Alya finds herself balancing a lot of things, trying to live up to her ideals and those of her icons.

And then reality seems to contradict itself.

As time progresses it seems to happen more often. Becoming a hero, battling villains, staying alive, working through friendships. Something is lurking, tweaking events at times, changing them, and no one seems aware. Alya will need all her wits to get to the bottom of this. Her investigative mind can only get her so far though, and then she needs to rely on her friends. This is not a foe you can beat head on.

I betaed this entire fic, it’s really good! I adore the focus on Alya’s philosophy here, her determination to be a hero, to help people and defeat evil - and that defeating evil means trying to reform the people doing bad things when possible, to try to save EVERYONE, even the “villain”. I thought it was really clever the ways Alya would redirect Chloe and subtly encourage her to be a better person, while also trying to get the people around her to give her a second chance and keep an open mind. 

Also Alya and Chloe are an adorable sapphic couple XD.

Dreams of You by @chocoluckchipz

Dreams had long been his only escape. Dreams of Ladybug, the girl who had always been there for him.

If only in his dreams. And only while she was also sleeping.

Because with the first rays of sunshine gliding over her skin, with the first fluttering of her eyelashes, from the moment she opened her eyes in the morning, memories of Adrien would vanish from her mind.

She would go on living her life.

He would always be the only one who remembered.

At least until they meet in the real world and fall in love all over again, something that would’ve been easier to do if Adrien wasn't a prisoner in his own home.

Chocoluckchipz has some of the most beautifully executed lovesquare fics I’ve read, and this is no exception. Most of the fic is dedicated to Adrien wooing Marinette, spending time with her, with her own dream self acting as his wingman, giving her tips on how to get her to fall for him, all the while frustrated that she can’t share memories with her waking self, and that she and Adrien can’t share as much information as they’d like while asleep, due to limitations of the “curse” that allows Adrien to share dreams with his soulmate. 

It’s not all cute Adrienette fluff though. There’s a threat in the background waiting to erupt, as the weirdness of Gabriel’s ultimatum to Adrien about finding Ladybug or else being forced to marry Lila keeps on gnawing at him - and with good reason. This is a world with magic and kwamis still, and that fact makes itself very relevant in the last third of the story. 

It’s a well-written tale and very much worth a read!

Nino looks back down at Alya. “You all look like trash,” he decides. Alya jumps at a loud thump, spinning around to find that Marinette’s head has hit her desk, and she’s groaning softly. Adrien, who had previously evidently been leaning on her side, promptly overcompensates and falls on his side, splayed behind Marinette on the bench. [OR: Being a superhero comes with insomnia. It's a shame that they're already dealing with that as-is.]

So this is from Alya's POV, unusually enough. It was a nice surprise! It's based off the movie universe, after the end of the movie. So like, Chat has the Butterfly now, and they have to deal with the new Peacock user. Though of course Chat's not the only one with a new Miraculous, Alya's not left bereft of one. It's just a treat to see her (and later Nino) get to help out, to be close to Adrien and Marinette in a hypothetical later movie universe, to see what she's thinking and feeling and to get to contribute!

The Peacock and the Dragon by TheVioletThread

kagami reflects on love, past and present, lost and won. felix destroys everything he has ever loved.

This is a three-chapter story, with the chapters being mostly independent, rather than naturally leading into each other.

The first chapter is from Kagami's POV, delving into the mindset she's grown up with due to Tomoe's parenting.

The second chapter, on the other hand, is from Felix's POV and mostly follows his horrific backstory, the abuse he suffered at Colt's hands, and his mindset even after Colt died.

The third chapter goes over Amelie's life, how she thinks of being the one left behind to deal with her parents' expectations, how she does, in fact, abide by them, basically being sold away to the highest bidder, and the despair as she's unable to do what she was "purchased" to do: provide an heir to Colt.

There's some beautiful prose here and exploration for Felix, Kagami, and Amelie, I highly recommend giving it a look!

Now it’s Félix’s turn. Adrien needs to know about his own existence before anything else and Félix wanted to have that conversation himself. Marinette didn’t argue when he told her as much. If anything, she seemed slightly relieved. Félix has been meaning to do it for a long time. Adrien had been at risk if he said anything before, not to mention it felt cruel to tell him when he would still have to bend to his father’s orders until the rings were retrieved. But Adrien wears his own amoks now, making his own choices with no one forcing him to do any of it. All physical risks are out of the way. Félix only needs to break it to him. The problem is that it never seems to actually be the right moment. (Or Post Season 5, Félix finally has the chance to tell Adrien about both of them being sentibeings and their family history. He’s not quite sure why his words keep failing him whenever he tries though.)

I love the analysis of Felix's thoughts and feelings about being a sentibeing, the psychological hangups that are preventing him from telling Adrien everything. I especially like how he doesn't even seem to realize HIMSELF what his problem is. Few people are able to really understand why they're reacting the way they are, why they feel the way they do, without either some deep examination or talking to someone.

Félix raises an eyebrow but obliges. He should probably get on with it before Adrien second guesses himself too hard and tries to take it back. Félix pulls the tissue paper out and squints at what’s inside. It’s— a plushie? He takes it out of the bag to get a better look at it. All of the air is stolen from his lungs the second he does. A rabbit plushie. A white rabbit plushie. (Or for Félix’s next birthday, Adrien teams up with Marinette to make Félix a rabbit plushie, much like the one he had as a kid. Old feelings Félix thought he buried return in full force.)

I loved seeing a potential backstory to the torn stuffed bunny we saw in the play in Representation, and Felix's reaction to getting another rabbit plush was heart-wrenching!

Looking for fic recs in kind of a specific sense. What are your favorite fics written before July 2019 or after July 2022? I’ve read a lot of work in the middle of that, and I’d like to read more newer and older stuff.

Because FUCK finding the original post in the abyss that's my blog because it was from a while ago and I didn't expect it to be an AU so I didn't tag it.

So! Short beginning synopsis for the 'To Bee a Bat AU'.

Yes it's ML/Batman because FUCK I know I said I wouldn't but y'all tempted me with Chloé focus and dunking on salt tropes.

Original post was someone asking 'hey ya know those salty aus where Mari is Bruce's kid? What if it was Chloé instead?' and ofc since I already have 'Andre isn't Chloé's bio dad' plots in other fics I jumped on that shit.

There were a few posts that were just crossover nonsense but latest tangent is sometime in Season 4-5 just Chloé ending up with that side of the family. She expects Bruce and co to be like Audrey and Andre were, and runs off first chance she gets. Thankfully found by the Sirens(Selina, Harley and Ivy). Chloé gets to go vigilante and get some healing.

Meanwhile the Miracuclass is doing their own thing and eventually realized they kinda fucked up on the like. Thinking she just went darkside for shits and giggles and not because of the whole 'felt betrayed by Ladybug, manipulated by Hawkmoth, parents held hostage, etc.' thing. Vow to get her back and apologize somehow so eventually they're going to end up in Gotham as well.

so like. They fucked up but it's NOT salt.
