I'm gonna ramble under the cut about the designs n stuff but you can scroll past that to get to the timelapse if u want.

@jotg-miraculousrewriteau is where you'll see any updates about this story/au/rewrite I have going on if you get interested. It'll take some time before I get around to writing it but I'll be trying to draw more. I'll list some reasons for why I haven't gotten much out recently under the cut. Not abandoning the au tho!

This one was a STRUGGLE and part of it was because I still liked last year's and because my interest in ml has taken a back burner with other interests BARGING IN this year.

Not to say that I don't want to work on my rewrite anymore, but I'm probably gonna do some more rewatching so I can get fully back into it again. I can't really plop down what I've come up with for the rewrite and be satisfied anyway, so I'm stuck until I get the thing written and drawn.

THAT ASIDE, I changed up their posing again and included updates to the character design. I don't know if what I've drawn Marinette in here will stick for her redesign as far as outfits are concerned, but I don't really like the previous outfit I gave her anymore so I needed to work with something new.

Overall I like how this turned out, even if I'm a bit unsure abt other areas.

Specifics: Once again, I liked coloring and drawing Marinette more which shouldn't be a surprise since I have more to work with in her design. I made the foolish mistake of not including her freckles in the past, so now I'm amending for that. She's sort of matching her bf now.

I included some lore bits abt Tikki and Marinette's complicated relationship here that I haven't talked abt before. Marinette is not doing anything to Tikki intentionally, but I have a plot line in the story I have planned that involves how the kwamis went from deities to kwamis. Got caged in the miraculous. And the consequences that follow.

INcluding Marinette and Tikki gaining a strained relationship for the majority of the story.

But that's all I'll say on that for now.

You might notice Marinette's skintone has changed a bit from other redesigns. What happened was, when I was first coming up with ideas for the rewrite, I was going off of critisysms I saw a lot and noting them down. One, was that Mari didn't look like she was biracial and her skin tone should reflect that. Now. I was young and figured "Oh okay! So. Lets look up what average chinese skintones are!" ...I found the racist color swatches that got pretty close to yellow and I ignorantly changed her skin tone to that.

So! Now her skin tone is closer to canon's and I've decided anything about her heritage isn't something I'll tackle in my rewrite/au since I'm not qualified. I still have some things I've changed so she looks similar to both parents, but no more of that skin tone.

Miraculous Ladybug X Monkie Kid crossover salt prompt idea: demons relatives AU

This prompt is a crossover with the show “Lego Monkie Kid” and is based on this question:

“What if Jin and Yin were Marinette’s relatives from their mother’s (the White-Faced Vixen) family?”

Concept:

So a very long time ago, back when Jin and Yin were just babies, their mother, the White-Faced Vixen, was on the run with her sons because of a war raging between the Huli Jin clan and a rival demon clan, resulting in the destruction of her home.

As she was wandering in the mountains injured and with her two babies in her arms, she came across a lone house which seemed to be inhabited.

The White-Faced Vixen then planned to kill the people living here so she and her sons could have a roof above their heads even if temporary.

But when she was about to put her sinister plan in motion, she got spotted by the house’s owner, Cheng Hua, a young widow who lived alone with her children.

To the White-Faced Vixen’s shock, the woman didn’t react in fear nor didn’t try to chase her away but instead was kind. 

She even invited her into her house after noticing her injuries and the two babies with her.

This confused the White-Faced Vixen. 

Why did this mortal treat her kindly and even open her house to her when she’s a demon and could easily hurt her and her loved ones?

When asked, the young woman simply answered that she was an injured mother who was seeking shelter for her children and who needed help, so to Cheng Hua it was normal for her to give this help, demons or not.

The White-Faced Vixen, still confused by the young widow's logic, stayed at her house for a few days and left ,along with her sons, once her injuries were healed to her brother.

Once her “guests” left, Cheng Hua learnt from her children that the White-Faced Vixen left a big bag for them, and to her shock, it was filled with tons of gold, enough to ensure her family and she would never worry about poverty ever again.

And with the gold was a medaillon with a letter thanking Cheng Hua for her hospitality and giving her the bag of gold to thank her for her help and also gift her her clan’s crest medaillon, making her and her family honorary members of the Huli Jin clan.

Thanks to the gold, Cheng Hua and her children lived comfortably, the young widow even converted her house into an inn which became popular among travelers, humans/mortals and demons/supernatural beings alike and as time passed a village developed around the inn.

Even after Chen Hua’s death many years laters, the Cheng family honored the White-Faced Vixen, in addition to honoring the celestial deities, to thank her for the good for the good fortune and protection she brought to their family and this keep going for generations to nowadays with Cheng Xia Bing, also known as Sabine Cheng and her daughter, Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

The mother lived a peaceful and happy life in Paris with her husband, Tom Dupain, and their daughter, until the apparition of the villain Hawkmoth and his akumas, who terrorized Paris for three years.

Getting more worry for her daughter’s safety and mental health day by day, a desperate Sabine decided to contact the White-Faced Vixen for help.

She get an answer in the form of the two sons of the White-Faced Vixen send by the latter to ensure Marinette’s safety.

On Marinette’s side, her life was not getting better, in fact, it was harder:

-Hawkmoth’s constant attacks were getting more violent and her recent new role as the miraculous box’s guardian didn’t lift any of her anxiety.

-Lila’s lies managed to turn her class against her and was making her life at school hell and nearly end up akumatized a bunch of times.

But her life is about to take a weird turn, but also a blessing in disguise, when her parents introduced her to two cousins from China who came to Paris for their studies and who were going to live with them: Jin and Yin.

-Jin and Yin being supportive of Marinette’s decision to moving on from Adrien and encouraging her to focus more on her project of becoming a fashion designer

-The kwamis knowing Sun Wukong: Xupu absolutely LOVE the Monkie King and in this AU his miraculous’s powers were created from Sun Wukong’s powers, Tikki is often annoyed by Sun Wukong’s chaotic attitude and Plagg, while he like Sun Wukong, is frustrated at the idea ti had to deal with Sun Wukong ‘cause Sun Wukong’s habit to cause chaos fall under Plagg’s jurisdiction and would force him to be a responsible kwami.

Day Twenty-eight/Day Twenty-nine – Lost/Found

I mushed day 28 and 29 together because I couldn’t think of anything to write that was just “lost” so we have both now.

Harvest goddess turned college art student!Marinette and death god turned last minute nude model!Felix. Enjoy.

The gods are dead. They have been for quite some time. The world has changed, as has its mortals. Many a deity has had their memories warped and eventually lost, their divinity stripped away, leaving them completely mortal. This was a fact that former harvest goddess, current college student, Marinette Dupain-Cheng didn’t know. Of course, not even time could completely scrub away the goddess’s memories, for every night her past life would crawl from the depths of the back of her mind, her lost love going with them. She wouldn’t remember them when she woke up the next morning, not completely, but she always felt... warmer somehow. Like she was wrapped in a heated blanket for the rest of the day.

She adjusted her bag before stepping into her morning art class. It was a life study day and from the look of the class room they would be studying a nude model. She could already feel her cheeks and ears warm up as she set up. The class slowly trickled in, as did the model. He looked less than pleased to be here. He also looked vaguely familiar. Her professor cleared her throat before gesturing the the boy next to her. “This is my nephew Felix who has graciously offered to stand in for today’s original nude model who couldn’t be here due to food poisoning. As always, please be respectful.” Marinette flipped to an empty page of her sketchbook and looked anywhere but the unfamiliarly familiar male. It took her at least 30 seconds before she realized that Felix had fully stripped and sat himself in the middle of the classroom.

As she looked between him and her sketchbook mimicking his figure, she couldn’t help but focus on the fact she felt like she knew him. “I love the laurel leaf accent Marinette,” she glanced up at her professor and then at her paper and lo and behold, a wreath of laurel leaves sitting upon his head. “Oh, um, thank you?” She replied quickly before turning back to continue her task. She couldn’t even remember adding the laurel leaves. Or why she did. Felix’s gaze had fallen on to her and while his face remained impassive, his eyes showed his curiosity towards her. Her cheeks warmed and she was thankful she had chosen to wear her hair down. At least no one close to her would notice her blush.

Felix did eventually take a break and slip on a robe, Marinette didn’t blame him, the art room wasn’t known for it heat, but had chosen to stand right behind her, studying the drawing. She assumed what he focused on though, was the smudge-y wings attached to his drawing self’s back. She also didn’t know why she had drawn them but she also didn’t have it in her to erase them, along with the laurel crown. “Interesting additions,” he mused. “I just thought they would look nice,” she replied. “I never said that they didn’t,” he replied, “I feel rather nostalgic looking at them,” “I feel the same way,” Felix hummed. “Perhaps we’re kindred spirits?” He inquired lowly, “or former lovers from a past life.” “Yes, I wonder...” he left her side soon after.

The class came to an end and as per usual, she was the last to leave. Felix was talking with his aunt, now properly dressed. She swung her bag on to her shoulder. “Ah Marinette,” she turned to face her professor and Felix. “Lovely work on your still life. I could easily see it being hung in a gallery.” Marinette blinked at the blond. “R-Really?” “Of course. Your talent is not something you should take lightly.” She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “O-oh! Thank you. You were a great model to work with.” “May I walk you to your next class?” He inquired. “I actually have a bit of a break between classes right now,” she replied, “but I was going to go grab a coffee. You’re welcome to join...” “I would love too.”

The two former gods left the art room with blushing cheeks and butterflies in their stomachs. They may not remember who they once were but they found their way back to each other.

The gods are dead. They have been for quite some time.

But that doesn’t mean they can’t begin anew.

Deity Au) Mari and Adrien is the gods of creation and destruction respectfully, the class having their kwami’s theme is an option- but I can’t pass up Sun and Moon gfs Rose and Juleka. Other ideas I have is: Chloe is the goddess of community which she originally thinks (I order people around) but it means equal work between both leader and subject. Kim is the god of wagers, which extends to transactions, laws, gambles, and BETS. Alix is a god of history, I have more ideas but yknow.. au

Okay, so I have seen some ML Deity AUs before, and I also immediately remembered @earthsong9405 MLP Goddess AU (which is super good btw), so I’m basing this a little on that!

The Kwami are basically the most important Gods. Their origins are similar to Canon, but they’re more all-powerful and can appear before Mortals at will.

Other characters are various Minor Gods, Demigods, and a handful or Mortals.

Demigods are those with a decent amount of Divine Blood. AKA: one of the Gods is an Ancestor through, you know. Mating with a Mortal. Not necessarily a Major God, so Minor Gods can create Demigods too. But Demigods must have at least 1% Divine Blood. Though that percentage doesn’t necessarily equal Power. Someone with 6% could be more powerful than someone with 20%.

Minor Gods are Demigods who have a large amount of Power and become apprentices to a God and basically ‘Ascend’. They become a God of a sub-category of the God they’re apprenticed to. Also, Minor Gods don’t have to be Apprenticed to the God they’re related to. You could be distantly related to God A but be Apprenticed to God B.

Btw, none of the characters who are Minor Gods were 50% Demigods Pre-Ascension. Out of the Minor Gods, Marinette is closest being 25%. (I debated about Adrien, but decided that since Gabriel became a Minor God after Adrien was born, it doesn’t work retroactively).  

All the Miraculous Users are Minor Gods. As are a few other characters.

While most of the Kwami will keep their respective Domains, some will change because, like. If we’re making them Major Gods then some aren’t quite right. Like Pollen isn’t ‘Goddess of Subjection’, or how only Nooroo or Duusuu could be ‘God/Goddess of Emotion’.

I don’t have all of the Kwamis or the Minor Gods planned out, but here’s some of the Major Gods, their Domains, and their Minor Gods.

Tikki, Goddess of Creation. Queen of the Gods. Apprentices:

Marinette, Goddess of Art

Mari’s Domain is in creating art. Paintings, stories, music, fashion, all of it are under her Domain.

Plagg, God of Destruction. King of the Gods.

Adrien, God of Rebirth and Renewal

An interesting take, but sometimes you need to destroy everything to start over. That’s Adrien’s job.

Felix, God of Death

Self-explanatory.

Trixx, God of Illusions.

Alya, Goddess of Truth

Though ‘Truth’ seems counterproductive to Illusion, part of being an Illusionist is both seeing through other’s Illusions, and adding just enough truth to Illusion to make it believable.

Lila, Goddess of Lies

Another self-explanatory one. Though I will mention that despite her lies she’s not really a threat because most people know she’s Goddess of Lies (especially Alya) and take her word with a grain of salt. She does like playing the ‘I know I’m Goddess of Lies but it hurts that you refuse to trust me!’ card.

Wayzz, God of Protection

Fu, God of Defense

His specialty is defending others in battle and combat.

Nino, God of….

I’m not sure how to put this. But Nino’s form of Protection is less ‘protection from physical attacks’, but more ‘protection of the heart’. He keeps people safe from other threats. Like jerks and manipulators.

Pollen, Goddess of Love. Not the emotion, but the relationships between people.

Chloé, Goddess of Friendship

Friendship is Magic motherfucker!

Jokes aside, most of Pollen’s apprentices are based on the Forms of Love.

Nooroo, God of Emotion

Gabriel, God of Controlling Emotions.

Not in a manipulative way. But the ability to not act on impulsive emotions. Keeping your composure even when you want to punch someone in the face.

Fluff, God of Time

Alix, Goddess of Timelines

It’s Alix’s job to watch over the branching Timelines and keep any too-disasterous ones from happening. And also deal with unauthorized Time Travel

Jalil, God of History

It’s his job to archive the past events.

Kaalki, Goddess of Space(Like, physical places. Not outerspace)

Gina, Goddess of Travel

Watches over people on journeys and makes sure they reach their destination safely.

Max, God of Teleportation

More for instant travel.

so in the deity au ladybugs kwami soul-fusion power gives her no time limit on her transformation. so does she and chat just never take off the masks when they run away? (also i dont remember if this is the feralxdeity au but do the masks come off to recover from the kwami fusion?)

in the deity au both normally and in feral version, once their transformations begin to take over their bodies, they actually can't detransform without... damaging themselves permanently, or worse. the miraculous stays On. They have to wait for it to eventually, maybe, wear off. Even then there's likely to be lingering touches of divinity in them.

(the framework for this AU is that Emilie did this with the peacock miraculous to Make Something Important and when Gabriel forced the miraculous off of her, trying to save her from turning into a monster, she turned back to normal pretty instantly! but died in the process, bc he wasn't patient enough to spend the weeks and months it would take for her body to ease back into humanity. ripping the divinity out of her destroyed her, and the spell she used wasn't stable to begin with, since she didn't have the zodiac kwami to cast it for her...)

ML AU: Deity Duel

-Every 777 years, the deities of the world gather for a festival that last 77 days, 7 hours, and 7 minutes.

-During this festival each Deity creates an avatar or ‘Kwami’ to interact with the human world. These Kwami then go out and find a human that they deem worthy of their powers. 

-A chosen human gains Super human strength, speed, stamina, durability and special powers.

-The rules of the festival are as follows.

1.Any time 2 chosen heroes meet, they have the option of fighting. (If it is their first meeting, then they MUST duel)

2. The one that issues the challenge first gets to choose the type of duel, it can be mental, physical, as long as it is a contest of some kind with a winner and a loser.

2a: All duels take place in a space between the realm of Deities and Humans, as to not do any damage to the real world. The rules of the realm are adjusted to be idealized for the challenge. (think Like Xiaolin Showdown)

2b. Fights outside of duels are allowed, but do not count as sanctioned duels. Killing your competition is not against the rules, but will give no benefits aside from removing competition, and deities will likely judge you more harshly over it.

3. Exposing yourself to others or explaining the rules of the challenge is not against the rules, though after the events of the contest, the memories of those that know will be wiped.

4. By the time the Festival reaches its 77th day. the chosen must have at least 7 wins to ascend to the next round.

5. If a chosen does not attain 7 wins, then they will be disqualified and their fate is decided by their deity. (some were kind and understanding, and would simply erase their memory of the festival. But others were, not so kind.)

6. The final stage of the festival results in a tournament in which the deities still in the festival create challenges for the chosen to overcome.

7. When two contestants are left, the last challenge is known as the ‘Final Fight.’ and the two will fight until there is only one winner.

8. The chosen that wins will have their deity reign as the head deity and be granted one wish regardless of the scope or scale except for 3 exceptions (they can't wish for more wishes, wish to kill the deities, or wish that the contest never happened/ stop happening)

ML AU - The God of Destruction as a Parent/Grumpy Uncle to Kid!Adrien

Plagg stalked the dark curves and halls of his lair, the high temperatures of his destructive home surging whenever their master treaded upon the dead soil.

Soft feet padded against the hot earth behind him and Plagg sighed deeply. "Will you stop following me and go to your room?"

The little blond boy lifted his head, shy green eyes staring up at the tall embodiment of death and destruction. "I-I'm sorry Plagg, I just don't know anyone here but you..."

Adrien mumbled and shyly twisted his hands into his shirt, staring down at his feet.

The god sighed deeply, rolling his glowing green eyes. "....Alright kid, follow me we'll eat something."

Excitement lighted up the boy's eyes and he hastily followed after the grumpy deity. "Is it camembert again? That stinky cheese you love so much?!"

Plagg grumbled under his breath, wondering when the ultimate being of chaos ever became a babysitter for a toddler. "Yes Adrien, it's that cheese."

Deity!tikki AU where the miraculous gets damaged somehow and the enchantment keeping the god within trapped and docile breaks, and Marinette has to contend with a very angry creation god that wants to annihilate the order of guardians

You guys seemed to like the deity!Tikki AU so I decided to make some more for it!!

I think once Tikki is free, the first thing she does is try to hunt down Plagg to “free” him from his miraculous and his holder, who she deems little more than a thief. Adrien gets wind of this and decides to get the hell out of dodge with Plagg in tow. Plagg is very conflicted about all of this-- he doesn’t actually remember ever being a god (due to the enchantment on the miraculous) and has grown to like both Adrien and the life he currently has, but he is haunted by the existential implication that his current self is just a lie dreamed up by the guardians

oh my goodness thank you so much!!! i hadn't even thought about plagg's design before, but as soon as i started thinking about it i went a little off the deep end and made a whole design!! i think my thought process jumped from god of destruction -> death-> skeleton -> GRIM REAPER CAT lol so yeah he's a little more grim than tikki but i think he still turned out really cool :)

Day Twelve – Reunion

Written for @felinettenovember. Fun fact, the reunion between Felix and Marinette is ripped straight from the conversation Clary and Jace had in the Shadowhunters TV show. Was intended to be written as an AU for A Thousand Thrones, but you don’t have to read it. However, because of that Duusu is his mom due to a technicality.

The gods are dead. They have been for quite some time. Having moved and shifted with times, warped and twisted by mortals, it’s no wonder they would cease to be in every way but physical. Felix thought himself to be the only one who remembered his time as a god, but being allowed to walk amongst the mortals while they breathed was preferred over their souls, tormented or not. There were things he missed however, his mother, his associates, his wife... but he had grown accustomed to the loneliness that came with being ancient. The blistering cold air bothered him more that usual—perhaps he was becoming more mortal? He adjusted his dark navy blue scarf before ducking into a small bakery.

It was fairly empty, but most importantly, it was warm. Familiarly so. “I’ll be with you soon!” Came a voice that he couldn’t see. It was also familiar. He glanced at the baked goods, followed by the drink menu. He didn’t look at the person manning the cash register. “What can I get for you?” “Can I get-” his breath hitched as his eyes met the woman at the counter. Her brows furrowed. “Don’t I know you? From somewhere?” She inquired. He looked at her name tag. Marinette was etched into metal. Then necklace she wore was silver and mimicked mint leaves. He had made that for her, though they were decorative hair pins. A ring sat in the middle of the necklace. He recognized it as well. His was around his neck, hidden beneath his scarf and coat. But she didn’t recognize him. He swallowed the bitter taste of sorrow. “No. I don’t think so.” “No I do. I definitely do,” her brows furrowed, “you’re Felix right?” He couldn’t stop the hope filling every fibre of his body. “Yeah. I’m Felix.” A smile tugged at Marinette’s lips. “I’m-I’m Marinette. Um...” “I know.” He pointed to her name tag. Her cheeks warmed. “So about your order?” She hastily said. He couldn’t stop himself from smiling.

This isn’t the reunion he thought he would have, but perhaps they could start anew.
