Hiyori Otsu - various manga
Mizuiro Cinema :
This was very cute and fluffy, my first experience with Hiyori Otsu's work, the childlike naivety of Tae matched well with the professional adultlike Yui, who is clearly still a child within despite the appearances she puts on. A happy ending story that tries to pull on your heart strings for like half a chapter before settling down and saying no don't worry everything will be okay. Great art, which is a consistent theme with Hiyori Otsu.
Orange and Yellow :
This had several short stories within it, the title story lasted about 3 chapters and was cute enough. There was an emphasis on hair in the art, and I think Hiyori Otsu uses that to tell her characters apart because its a lot of very similar looking faces. But the hair was light and drawn very wispy almost, it had good volume. Those are kind of contradictory statements but I think it makes sense if you look at the cover art. However, among the following short stories, Katakoi Hime stood out as above and beyond the rest. While only one chapter, it develops two really interesting girls and their relationship while one suffers from an adolescent heartbreak. They don't end up together as a couple or anything, maybe in the future, but the main girl learning about Mizuno is a story worth reading.
Clover :
Clover. This is the one I am most conflicted about I think, or the reason I wanted to write out my feelings. This is a story about 4 sisters and each of their romantic experiences. At least 3 of these sisters are gay.
Story 1, the youngest sister, is a cute story about breaking free of following stupid rules and the cute girl who convinces her to do it. I liked it. The scene of the gyaru type girl laying on the floor mirroring them both laying on the train luggage rack was masterful and a lot of fun.
Story 2, the second youngest, is a story that subverts Class S traditions of "all girls go out with other girls while looking for a good man." A very-definitely-not-lesbian asks out the Tachibana sister of this chapter as "just pretend" and eventually the sister falls in love with her, realizing how gay she is. It's a great chapter and the extra chapter follows this couple in the future until they are married.
Story 3, the second oldest sister, I liked because it wasn't a happy ending. It wasn't sad but the girl the Tachibana sister of the chapter liked already liked another girl. A story of overcoming a first love. Cute and good.
Story 4: This sister is not gay. Maybe? It's up for interpretation. She's got a terrible personality, takes advantage of everyone around her, and is extremely pretty. The point of voice from the episode is not hers, but rather a girl who is in love with her, and those feelings are not returned. I believe the sister knows that this girl likes her and chooses to just take advantage of that fact for now. Chapter 1 reveals that this sister is living on her own in the future, not married and not with a man, so there's hope. I enjoyed seeing her be awful to those around her, but I might have been expecting more girl's love where there wasn't any. But maybe, in the end, the pining for an obnoxious straight girl who takes advantage of both men and women, this too is yuri.

Read "Mizuiro Cinema." A short but sweet story from the Yuri Hime Golden Age. Nothing special, but worth a quick read if you're looking for something with light drama.

Yuri Manga Recs (Part 1)
I’m making this manga rec list for my good friend @flyingfricks. I also wanted to do this for a while now so I’m also gonna just make this for other people to use as well. All of these stories are pretty short reads so if you’re looking for something quick, ya got it here
I think about Yuri a lot despite the limited number of manga out there. It’s one of my fav genres and I really look forward to reading new stories in the future. I’m gonna avoid rating the stories because I really don’t know if I can quantify what I like about each story properly. I hope someone out there finds something they’ll enjoy
Please come talk to me if anyone ever does read any of these manga. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Ebisu-san to Hotei-san
MAL Description: An office worker, Hotei, is not pleased when high-flyer Ebisu is transferred to her branch
I read this story in high school and it’s surprising how much nuance was put into it. It’s a love story between two female coworkers so it has an interesting take on envy and feelings of inadequacy. Like imagine being raised to view other women as competition but at the same time, you’re a lesbian. It’s something I can relate to--this girl is really pretty and smart so should I be jealous or just fall for her? I think it’s normally to feel both, honestly. It’d probably leave a person with a lot of conflicting views and I think this manga does a good job showing that. I just wish it were longer :( But since it’s short, check it out
***
Girl Friends
MAL Description: When it comes to grades, bookish high school student Mariko Kumakura is at the top of her class. Socially, however, she is shy and lonely, typically eating lunch by herself. Enter the charismatic and beautiful Akko Oohashi, whose goal is to befriend Mariko and burst her out of her introverted shell.
In the process of transforming Plain Jane Mariko into one of the cutest, most popular girls in school, deep feelings begin to emerge that suggest something deeper than friendship. Will these feelings destroy the budding relationship between Mariko and Akko, or will it turn into something else?
Just two girls who become friends who become girlfriends.....is the short version of it. I related a lot with Mari and I kinda feel envious that I didn’t experience that kind of love in high school.....well at least I have this story! I feel like every high school lesbian/bisexual should read this. Maybe that’s putting a lot on it but it helped me understand myself at that age. I’ve reread it a couple times and I’m always satisfied after finishing it. Seriously, go read it. It’s a yuri classic! And it deserves all the praise and attention.
***
Mizuiro Cinema (or Aqua Blue Cinema)
MAL Description: Aqua Blue Cinema is about an actress and a girl she meets through unusual circumstances.
One of my favorite yuri stories hands-down. Probably. It’s just so sweet and fluffy!!! I love these girls so much and I was rooting for their romance throughout the story. The story itself is pretty simple but sometimes that’s what the soul needs. I appreciate stories that explore lgbt culture and the reality of being gay seriously but sometimes you just need a simple love story. It’s short so I shouldn’t spoil anything--just take it from me that you should read it!
***
Sougou Tovarisch
MAL Description: Kanna who usually enjoys being at the top of her class is outscored by one point on the first aptitude test of her high school career by the high-level kuudere/low-level dandere Yuu. Unlike Kanna, Yuu is naturally talented and couldn't care less about getting high scores, so she throws away her test immediately after after getting it. This incredibly bothers Kanna, who then in front of the class, scolds Yuu for throwing away her "symbol of how hard she worked". This gesture of kindness(??) causes Yuu to fall for Kanna. And of course, all unbeknownst to Kanna, who's all about herself anyway.
This manga is one-part romance and three-parts comedy. And I really enjoyed the comedy too! The art is really adorable and I often save pics on my phone because of how cute it all is. The main character is fucking hilarious but so are the side characters. It’s not all that heavy with the romance but the slice-of-life part is definitely enjoyable (and I’m not the type to seek out slice-of-life). The main character is super fucking adorable (girl with the orange hair) and I cannot help but pray for this hopeless girl’s happiness
***
Prism
MAL Description: School girl Megumi, suffering from an uneventful life after a fleeting grade school romance, hopes to end such boring days with her entrance into high school. Still dreaming about the peaceful days with her past love, Hikaru, she encounters a stunningly beautiful girl on her way to the entrance ceremony. Suddenly, the girl calls out for Megumi and gives her a hug! Hikaru enters back into Megumi's life not only as a classmate, but as a girl. How will Megumi handle the shocking revelation?
I read this manga in high school and it was one of the more popular yuri stories. Honestly, I was desperate to read anything at the time so I ate it up. I think I could tell that it's supposed to turn the reader on but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. I think it's kinda sucky that so much lesbian porn is aimed at men and a part of me wonders if this story is the same. But at the same time, there's an undeniable intimacy in the scenes. They're just two horny teens and that's refreshing to see instead of "oh but we're girls we can't do stuff like that!!" It's a pity the story was cut short. Apparently the author was caught tracing artwork using stock photos. Check it out if that sort of thing doesn't bother you.

pfFFFTT, I can make a river with these tears. Lemme get a little buzzed first. 😂😂😂 Also, can I request an ichigo x reader fluff? 🥺🥺🥺 because I’m still crying a little LOL
A constant stream of fresh water. I’m for it, I do like to wash everyday! 😂
I suppose some Ichigo fluff is only fair. I was looking back at my Bleach works the other day and I realised that most of them are all angst. LOL **insert Marge telling the kids to brighten up**
Fandom: Bleach
Character: Ichigo Kurosaki
Prompt: Some fluff to bleach out the angst (getit? **shot**)
Who would have thought that Ichigo treated love like a battlefield? The man didn’t think of chances, or probabilities. Nor did he think of duties or roles. Ichigo simply didn’t care for any of the traditions and the frivolities that came with courtship, nor did he think of sweet words and small gifts that he didn’t mean. No, as normal as he pretended to be Ichigo was an intense man and he was in love.
His confession had been straightforward, like the drawing of his sword. An: “I like you, [Name]. I really like you,” and that had been his declaration of his emotions, followed with a, “will you allow me to pursue you?”
You really didn’t have the heart to reject such a declaration. Not that you would have anyway, for the feelings were returned. Though, that was only clarified much later, much, much later for you weren’t as sure and straightforward about your feelings as he was.
Of course there were moments where Ichigo felt shame, or grew shy and retreated. For all his bravado and zeal he was after all a normal teenager. One with his own insecurities and inner battles, but one that came through them all the same.
“Stop hounding me already, geez,” he yelled at his friends, each one of them mischievously eyeing him, hands grabbing hold of his shoulders. “It is just a date, chill!” he screamed, but felt himself being muffled away as he was put into something more handsome than a t-shirt and jeans.
“A tad overdressed, but very handsome,” you would grin later as he appeared in a suit at the cinema. A suit and a bouquet of flowers he had already prepared for you (cue to another chatter of giggles from his friends when they found out).
“Well, yeah, they overdid it and I hate it,” the male honestly responded, a blush dusking his face as he side-eyed your happy countenance.
He didn’t really, nothing that could make you look this delighted could be hated, he found and Ichigo felt his heart jump a little. How he wanted to protect that smile of yours.
“Has [Name] ever told you: ‘I like you’?” Keigo one day asked out of the blue. His lips pursed as he thought and combered his mind.
This earned a choked response and a near hit to the face from the orange haired teen, a shocked expression over his face as Ichigo thought about it carefully.
“I guess not?” he shrugged, rather casually.
This shocked his friends even more, jaws dropping and eyes widening as they stared at their friend, disbelief drawing over their faces at how easily Ichigo shrugged it off.
“Aren’t you dating?” Mizuiro carefully tried, to which Ichigo shrugged in response once more.
“I guess so? Not sure actually. I only asked [Name] if I could pursue them,” Ichigo stated matter-of-factly. As if it hadn’t occurred to him how unusual the situation was.
In hindsight none of his friends could say that this was unexpected or unusual for him. Ichigo was by no means an idiot, but his sharp moments were lost in the smallest of things. It was exemplary of his character. He didn’t need you to tell him what you felt yet, as long as you were comfortable with what the two of you had. As long as you knew what he felt. The rest would follow.
Ichigo was patient on a lot of things and with you he believed he could wait until the world ended and beyond.
“Hey Ichigo?” you spoke up one good day after another date. This time the substitute soul reaper did get to wear his jeans and t-shirt, spending the day at the leisure with you in the park and in the cafe.
The male hummed, his face turning towards you in curiosity as he wondered what it was. You had been acting strange the whole day, skittish, nervous, the male had let it go, hoping that the date would relax you, but as the end neared he started to worry.
“You know I like you, right?”
The question lingered in the air for a moment. Ichigo looked dumbfounded for a moment, then collected himself as a grin appeared on his face, a look of victory crossing his expressions as he took your hand in his.
“Now I do,” he exclaimed and for a moment you thought of him as too composed.
The gentle squeeze of your hand suggested otherwise. Ichigo was positively brimming.

@despairforme. [ Any HCs for Keigo’s hobbies? ]
𝗸𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗲𝘀. i do believe that he tends to go for hobbies that involve other people. charisma surrounds him at every hour. he is talkative & an individual who relies on jokes as a way to make people happy. if situations such as these are presented to him, then that is how he is able to make the most out of it. of course, canon material gives him a few things he absolutely loves, such as fireworks displays & beach parties.
there is another subtle mention in chapter 425 where keigo complains about ichigo not hanging out with him as he is leaving the basketball team. it is not touched upon further. however, it is highly possible that keigo plays basketball not only because he has to join a club, but because he enjoys it. in addition, his silhouette seems quite athletic. i think basketball would be fitting for him, despite his height !
secondly, popular tv culture seems to be a thing. he offers others to go to the cinema with him to see an action movie. he takes part in the don kanonji craze. within his group of friends, i believe he would be the first to talk about media & anything related to it. not to mention, keigo is quite eccentric. to some that may be a bad thing, but mizuiro states that keigo is smarter than he lets on.
in short, this is where it gets interesting. instead of characterizing his impulsive & extreme behavior as a flaw, there is the fact that i see my portrayal of keigo as an individual who has adhd. as he gets older, i think he is able to get this under control. i do not consider keigo to be someone who can sit still for a prolonged period of time. his emotions are not subtle or repressed. he thinks & he says it.
the lack of concentration is what makes him fall deep below in the rankings of karakura high school —— not because he is unintelligent. it is because there is too much going on for him that he does not even want to properly invest in time to study. when he first started seeing shinigami in karakura town, he thought they were actors. his imagination is more active, but not similar to orihime's !
to keep himself grounded, i definitely see him playing tactical puzzles such as sudoku or rubix cube. he does not choose to read books, but likes reading manga as they often have a visual cue. either way, his adhd is not too much of a hurdle & i do not believe he would tell his friends. but for my portrayal, he would definitely learn to control it over time; although there are certain moments where it will be more prominent.
#despairforme#◇ ooc. › answered.#◇ keigo. › meta.#thank you for sending this!#it got a bit long-winded‚ but i hope it answered your question!#i will most likely write a separate post on his adhd.#i wrote this one in a hurry‚ so i'd like to properly research it first before writing about it again.#but ahhh‚ thank you!#🌻

Honorable Mention:
Cotton Candy Love [DS] - Oneshot about a young trans girl being comforted by an older lesbian. Deals with transphobia, misgendering, bullying, and invasive questioning/harassment, which may be triggering. The gay relationship is not the focus, and ends. Despite all this, the story is sweet, with a hopeful, happy ending. (Don’t let any descriptions fool you-- the relationship between the woman and the young girl is strictly platonic)

"R-Really?!" Once again, his eyes sparkled, he was so happy Mizuiro agreed to go see the movie with him that he failed to notice that the rich guy didn't seem that interested in Midori's movie choice. Once Mizuiro finished up his treats and bought some muffins for later, the two went on their way to the cinema, the sergeant beaming the whole way there. When they got there, then got the tickets, Midori quickly found the room the movie was airing in, and was first to seat himself once they stepped foot into the room.
Two hours later, the duo left not too long after the credits started rolling. How the sergeant felt after seeing the movie? Definitely not disappointed. He thought the movie was pretty good, but not as good as the prequel. The excitement was still there, though much more toned down than it was when he first arrived at the theater.
"Huh, go back? Why?" Midori seemed puzzled. Mizuiro wanted to go back already? He listened to his 'friend's' reasoning. "Ah, alright then." He was a little disappointed they were leaving, but he wasn't going to argue.
Before, after, and during the limo ride back to the mansion, the serge excitedly talked about the movie, and continued chatting about it until the duo arrived back at the mansion. "And that's why I think the prequal is better! Oh! We are back already!" Of course, he was first to exit the limo.
"I am going to go get something from my mech real quick! Wait for me by the entrance, okay?!" And with that, Midori rushed off. On his way to the mecha, he was relaying through his mind how well this date-, no, 'hang out' was going, if he keeps this up, he's going to consider this day successful! If he was going to be honest, he didn't think it would go this smoothly (aside from the brainfreeze part), considering it's been a few years since his last date, which was with...
("That Roboncop was so awesome, Seri!" "I know, right?! I honestly thought it was it wasn't gonna be that good! Boy was I wrong! It was definitely worth the wait!" "Yeah! ...Seri?" "Yes, Greenie?" "Not that I have a problem with it, but why did decide to take me to instead of one of your friends?" "Erm, well... All my friends have already seen it, s-so I thought I'd take you, since you were the only one that hadn't." "Well, thanks for taking me! ...S-Seri." "Y-Yeah?" "Was this a...date..?" Pause. "Do...Do you want it to be?" "?! ... Ye-Yes..." "...Then it was a date then." "...Heh, I glad you- Ah! Hey! *laughs* Again with the noogies, Seri?!" "Hey, I can't help that you're short!" "Stop it, or else I'll call Roboncop on you!" "Ha! I'd like to see you try, Greenie!" Both laugh.)
"...These memories...why are they popping up now?! They did not show up the last few times I was with Mizuirobon..." He muttered to himself. "So why now..?" He pondered for a bit, before deciding to brush them off. "Best not to think about it now. I rather not have them get to me."
He hopped into his mech, then picks out a neatly wrapped blue box from one of the compartments, and stares at it for a bit. "I just hope Mizu will like this gift..."
It took the sergeant a few minutes, but he came back to the entrance to meet up with Mizuiro, whom was waiting for him. Wrapped under his left arm was the box. "Sorry if I kept you waiting, Mizuirobon! So, shall we head on in?"
“A-ah, Sergeant??” Mizuiro exclaimed worried as Midori quickly bolted off to a random direction. He very soon came back, though, to ask for directions. That looked so silly, Mizuiro could hardly contain a smile. He couldn’t say Midori’s burst of excitement was surprising, that’s just how sergeant is, but he was yet to see someone so passionate about strawberry sweets. Looks like it’s something they both can agree on.
Light-blue boy took a quick glance around and noticed some people staring at them judgingly, and while usually bystanders’ opinions didn’t matter much to him, he still didn’t want to ruin his image. So as soon as he figured out the way to go, he gestured to Midoribon to follow him, and shortly started walking to their destination, this time in a much faster pace than he did before. On their way here he eagerly told Midori a bit more about the place, what assortment did they have, how good they were despite the shabby looks, and how you can even order their stuff by the phone. Was that neat or what?
When they arrived, half-expectedly, the place was full. The patisserie was essentially just a small simple-styled cafe with a few wooden tables crumpled together, all coupled with some sort of jazz music playing in the background. Nothing fancy, but pretty cozy, and the quality of treats was what made it so popular and be always in demand. By sheer luck the duo found one free table in a corner, which they claimed right away. Not a seat by the window, but it would do.
Once Mizuiro got comfortable on his seat, he got a few b-da buck bills out of his wallet and handed them to Midoribon. “I’ll have a slice of straberry cake and mint milkshake. Feel free to order anything you like. My treat.” Mizuiro says in the usual relaxed manner. “I’ll wait over here to watch our spot to make sure no one else takes it.” He finishes off with his casual wink.

Manga Recommendation: Mizuiro Cinema
After work one day, Yui stands at the edge of a cliff. She lets her mind drift off as she stares at the ocean. "Don't do anything rash!" she hears, bringing her mind back to reality. A cute girl hugs her from behind and, under the impression that she is going to jump, tries to reassure her that life is worth living. This is the story of those two girls.
