Miya Valentine's Day

Miya was the third winner in this poll and here is the date he had on Valentine's Day this year on our sims gameplay.

The day before Valentine's Day, during the afternoon-evening. Miya met Koyomi, Takashi and Chisa at an ice cream shop to invite them to go to an animal shelter the next day.

Miya: Let's meet after after-school, is that okay?

Takashi: Of course and then around 8 pm, we could go to the skatepark.

Miya: Ok. «Will Reki and Langa be there when we go, or will they still be working on Dope Sketch?» - thinking.

Koyomi: Then I hope my brother won't be there, because if not, he won't stop showing us how cool his friend is at skateboarding. 😂

The next day during the afternoon-evening Miya stopped by his house to pick up his two cats Slime and Kirby and take them with him to the animal shelter.

Miya: We're here, do you think they will be here soon?

Chisa: We're here!

Miya: Did you guys bring any spare clothes?

Koyomi: Sure!

Takashi: It's about time, Hero. 😂

Miya: Let's go inside Slimes! 😂

Inside Miya introduced his friends to Emma, the owner of the shelter. She told them they could ask her as many questions as they wanted.

Koyomi: Are the doors always locked?

Emma: You mean the doors all over the compound?

Koyomi: Yes.

Emma: These doors are specifically built with an electronic mechanism that detects animal presence, including humans. So they only open when they detect whose presence it is and that there is no one in the other place, so they can open automatically without danger.

Takashi: That must have cost a lot of money, right?

Emma: Better not ask about it. 😅

Miya: But animals can go freely without danger, so that's worth everything!

Koyomi: And also the main entrance gate?

Emma: Of course. The only door that remains closed for them is the door to my living quarters. Except for Angola, the cat I adopted.

Chisa: Can we adopt?

Takashi: But Chisa, where we live we can't have pets.

Chisa: Right... 😭

Emma: Don't be sad, you can help in many other ways here.

Emma explains how many other ways they can help even if they can't adopt where they live.

A while passes and Taka tries to make an approach towards a cat, which doesn't seem very happy. Meanwhile, Chisa plays with another one successfully. Koyomi on the other hand tries to get to know a kitten.

Later, Taka talks to Emma and asks her how she came up with the idea of building a shelter instead of a veterinary clinic, since she doesn't make much money from it.

Emma: Since I was little have always seen a lot of abandoned animals and couldn't do anything to help them since I lived like you, in a apartment that didn't accept pets. So I promised that as soon as I could, would make a shelter for them and help them. And yes, as you said, I didn't make money but can see the goodness in people and also the dark side of them.

Meanwhile, Miya and Koyomi are having a talk outside the shelter. 

Koyomi: Jeez... I can't have pets even though our house is huge... I would like to have one... But mom always says that we already have enough with Chihiro and Nanaka as little ones with lots of energy and Reki with his skateboard going fast back and forth...

Miya: Well, think that there are people like Emma and us, that whenever we can try to help animals we meet even if some of you cannot adopt them. I had a hard time keeping Slime and Kirby, mom and dad didn't want me to adopt them.

Koyomi: I know... And there are 7 of us at home... Mom says that at the end she would take care of the little one while we were away and that it would give her work three times harder....

Miya: Is it okay if we tell the rest of Slimes to leave?

Koyomi keeps thinking and says to herself that Miya is right as long as there are people like Emma and them, there will always be a balance.

They said goodbye to Emma and the furry ones and headed to the Skatepark.

Once there Takashi, Chisa and Koyomi sat down.

Miya: Didn't you bring your skateboard, Taka?

Takashi: No, this humble Slime today comes to watch the Hero. But don't get used to it because the Slime also has things to teach you.

Miya gave them a little exhibition of his tricks. And when he was done, climbed up to where his friends were standing and shouted:

Miya: Hero Miya and his 3 Slimes! 🤣

Koyomi: We should go now, shouldn't we?

Miya: Yes, that's right, it's already a little late, we should go back to our homes, we have school tomorrow.

Takashi: You're right, we have to go shower, eat and sleep.

Chisa: Yes and it's almost 9pm, my mom might get mad because it's so late!

Miya: See you tomorrow then, Takashi, Chisa. See you another time, Koyomi.

Once at home, Miya's mobile vibrates, he looks at it and reads the notification that has arrived (Read here if you want to know what Miya is reading).

Miya: «This Saturday in "S".... Great! If Langa participates I'll go against him, and this time I'll do my best to reach his level! I'll be the one to give him the chocolate this Saturday.» - thinking.

౨ৎ OSAMU MIYA — gives you the first and last bite of his food why it's special: osamu takes being a foodie to the next level. the man can eat, and he loves to do so. ever since elementary, his classmates and friends learned better than to ask osamu to share any of his snacks. he's not rude about it, per se, but you can tell that he packed his food with the intention of him and only him consuming it. him and atsumu even get into verbal altercations over who ate the last snack in the pantry. osamu just loves food — so it's pretty obvious that he must really love you a lot to always offer you the first bite of a meal at the restaurant he's spent weeks waiting to open.

"and anyway, that's when— hey, what the hell!" bits of rice fly out of atsumu's mouth whenever he watches osamu give you the first serving of grilled meat. you and osamu invited atsumu out to eat, to celebrate him joining the msby black jackals, and because everyone was craving bbq, you all agreed on the same restaurant (for once). osamu is naturally in charge of grilling the meats. what throws his twin off guard, though, is the fact that osamu is serving you first. "what's the matter? and finish chewing before you speak, damn." osamu huffs, before beginning to assemble portions of the side dishes on your plate as well. atsumu looks at his own empty plate before looking at osamu's empty plate. "geez, [name], how'd you do it?" you look up from your food to answer atsumu. "do what?" "this selfish, gluttonous bastard never lets anyone else eat first!" atsumu tells you, and you just laugh as osamu starts swearing at his brother. "well," you tell atsumu brightly, once his argument with osamu is settling down. "osamu's always lets me eat first. he insists, really." osamu has to tell atsumu to shut the hell up and stop whining before he doesn't get any food at all.

౨ৎ TOBIO KAGEYAMA — takes pictures of you why it's special: tobio kageyama's camera roll before you consists of screenshots (some are accidental, such as the ones of his lock screen, or it's usually different athletic gear he wants to check out), photos of maps (because he is directionally challenged everywhere except for the court), and sometimes of virtual tickets (for when he actually does attend an event, usually for sports). tobio kageyama's camera roll after you consists of the same stuff, pretty much... except for the fact that there are now hundreds of photos he takes of you. he's not one to take pictures; he's a bit awkward around a camera, really, but he realizes soon after getting with you that he doesn't mind being in front of a camera as long as you're posing with him. he takes so many candids of you, like when you're washing the dishes or drifting off to sleep on the couch after bingewatching a tv show. if pictures are worth a thousand words, he's said "i love you" over a million times.

"oh my gosh, delete that!" you shriek, trying to make a mad grab for your boyfriend's phone. his reflexes are quicker, though, and he holds it out of your reach. "why would i delete it?" he asks innocently. "you look cute." the photo in question is the one he just took. the two of you ordered ramen for takeout, and yours was made spicier than usual. your lips feel swollen, and they're kind of stained red from the spices used, and the image captures that, but also highlights the tears welling up in the corner of your eyes as you're in the middle of a massive bite of noodles. "i look like i'm the thumbnail for a 'mukbangers who took it too far and died' video!" you wail. "delete it, tobio!" "but you look cute." he stands his ground, pouting a bit. "that's not fair. do not make that face." you groan, turning to look away from your boyfriend. honestly, with a face like that, it's no wonder why you couldn't force him to delete any pics of you. he's just too damn good at whittling away your resolve. "i think i'm gonna make it my lockscreen." he muses.

౨ৎ KIYOOMI SAKUSA — lets you make a mess of his things why it's special: kiyoomi is very particular about his personal belongings. he doesn't let his teammates borrow any of his training equipment. he refuses to wash his jersey with the rest of the team's, and instead, gets it professionally cleaned elsewhere. in the beginning of your relationship, kiyoomi always offered to wash the dishes, purely because he would only trust that it was truly cleaned if he could confirm that they were well scrubbed. the closer you two get, though, the more the boundaries blur. soon, his stuff gets mixed in with yours. you're doing the laundry together. he gives you his pillow when yours gets too warm. there's intimacy in that, even more so when you consider how prickly kiyoomi gets with these things.

"kiyoomi! you're home early!" fuck fuck fuck, is what's going on in your internal dialogue. you're baking a cake for dessert, only the mixer had a mind of its own, and you ended up covered in sugar, spice, and everything nice. which isn't that big of a deal. you already wiped down the counters, mopped the floors, and got started on the dishes. the only issue is that when you're at home, you have a habit of stealing kiyoomi's clothes. right now, you've still got on his sweatshirt. his nice, pristine, fresh from the laundry sweatshirt... that is now covered in nothing but flour and cake mix. you were going to wash it, honest! it's just... cleaning the kitchen took more time than you anticipated, and kiyoomi was supposed to stay at the gym for the whole day. he knows that that sweatshirt is his. you expect your boyfriend's eye to twitch, or for him to frown, or to even complain that you just ruined his very nice and outrageously priced hoodie. instead, he walks over to you, and places a kiss on your forehead. you've got flour all over you, including your hair, and surely he's got some flour on his lips now. he doesn't complain or say anything about the ruined sweatshirt. he just says, "thanks for baking. i'm going to go shower."

Red and Green; Up and Down

Red and Green are very prominent colors in the Yingdu Chapter. They are the two main colors in the OP:

red and green album behind the camera; red and green basketball court

They’re even more obvious in the ED with the traffic lights:

Red phone booth, green light; red and green lights (+yellow if you count XF lol)

But Miya, they are primary/secondary colors. Of course, they’re everywhere!

Okay, but look again at this frame in the OP:

Red on the outside, and green on the inside.

Now, look at the same basketball court, but as shown before the OP in YE1:

The colors are reversed. It’s now green on the outside, and red on the inside.

There is probably more to this discrepancy if we analyze the relevant dialogue in this scene for the pre-OP and in the lyrics for the OP, but I don’t have time for that right now. Let’s just take this as a signal from the animators to focus on those two colors.

Okay, so Green and Red are relevant, but what do they have to do with Up and Down?

In YE1, there was this scene where CXS passes the ball to LG, but it then unusually focuses on the camera and not on the ball:

Our eyes can’t help but be drawn to the camera…which is pointing to the down arrows on LG’s tie. And what are those arrows pointing to?

The green lane Lu Guang is standing on. However, this lane is red in the OP. Is it really pointing at the green? Or is it pointing at the red? And why focus on the camera first instead of just focusing directly on the arrows to get the message across more clearly? Camera + Arrows. What could they mean? This is something to think about...

Then in Lu Guang’s nightmare in YE3, Vein is chasing him in a green hallway, and he escapes into a green exit with a green down arrow:

He then falls into a dark room full of red:

The Green arrow from above is pointing down to the Red room.

So, does that mean Green is Up and Red is Down? I can’t say...

In the Bloody Storm PV, we have people descending green stairs:

Only the steps are green, though. We can say that there’s green light shining from above to make it appear green. This green light can also be seen on the backs of the men.

It is also worth mentioning that @rainibao has pointed out that, in the flashes, the people are ascending the stairs:

Moreover, the green light is lost here, and we’re left with a gloomy frame full of neutral colors against a plain red background. This also happens in the part of the song where the tension builds up and Vein is about to go crazy. This is definitely relevant, seeing as in the YE3 nightmare, Lu Guang finds himself in a red room and Vein finally catches him.

Something something about Green and Order (men obediently going down the stairs; Vein forcing Lu Guang down a green hallway), and Red and Punishment (men going up the stairs as the tension builds up, Vein catching Lu Guang in a bloody room).

Anyways… Is Red up? And Green down? Or, going by the green being light from above, then is Green up and Red down? I still can’t say...

Why does it matter what direction they are?

Because in Mandarin Chinese, time is viewed in a vertical fashion. The past is above you, while the future is below you. Knowing whether red/green is up/down can help us ground ourselves in this time travel show.

There’s also this:

Red light on Lu Guang; Green light on Cheng Xiaoshi.

I’ve always found the color assignment here odd because in traffic light language, Green means go, while Red means stop. Shouldn’t CXS, who is already dead, be the one in Red since his time has stopped? They even made it a point to color him in cold neutral colors without the green light shining on him, as if to hammer in the point that he’s dead (in contrast to Lu Guang who is in warm colors when not under the red light). (It was too difficult to get a screenshot of this, but I remember seeing a draft of this animation sequence where CXS was clearly transitioning from grey to colored, while LG was more warm to colored. If anybody can find that again, please send me a link!)

Anyways, if Green Cheng Xiaoshi is Dead, then does that mean Green is Future/Down? Red Lu Guang would then be Past/Up, signifying him going back in time.

But this doesn’t align with the nightmare sequence, where Green is Up and Red is Down… But then again, it was a nightmare. Can we even trust it? Can we trust anything in this show???

Or maybe Red/Green is constantly cycling between Up/Down. Maybe one moment Red is Up and Green is down, while in the next it’s reverse. An indication of time being a closed loop in Link Click?

I don’t fucking know.

There are no conclusions here. I just thought I’d point this out so I can have more people be just as confused as me hehe.
