Talk about a mix, this home built in 1895 in Brooklyn, New York is a mix of bold colors and a quirky collection of art and design. The architect who restored it for them recovered the original details of the house while adding sophistication to the design.
The polychromatic tour begins with a strong terracotta pink that covers the living room, framed with arches that follow one another to divide the spaces and define the end and the beginning of a new color.
This fireplace is a work of art, in itself.
The hallways are neutral in pale grayish blue with striking stark white and black.
The arched doorways are just beautiful.
The home office is a deep rich gold with modern furniture and an updated traditional black fireplace.
Every cabinet unit in the kitchen is a different color. They’re not crazy bright, but the floor and blue wall takes care of that.
The blue kitchen floor changes to green in the family room that opens out to the garden.
The walls near the door have this wonderful texture.
Another beautiful fireplace was restored and there’s some of that quirky art on the mantle. I love that.
The same pattern flooring is in the shower room, but in black, gray, and white. Mood lighting makes a big difference in a black bath and it doesn’t hurt to have a light and floating sink.
The 3rd fl. landing has a swirling ceiling with a skylight that looks like art.
The landing also doubles as a library.
The main bedroom is minimal with pale gray walls, shiny white dressers, and a colorful carpet and bedding.
Across from the terracotta hued bath is the laundry room.
Water closet is amazing- dramatic tropical wallpaper and amazing marble sink with industrial fixtures.
Behind the home is a nice, step garden and patio with cool industrial lighting.
