Katherine had been visiting the Dreaming almost every night but her sleeping hours were more spent in the library than Fiddler's Green or anywhere else she could've gone to. She was impressed by the massive number of shelves that filled the room, both around her and above her head. More shelves than any bookstore she had visited in her waking life.

In terms of what kind of book she likes, Katherine was more interested in the first draft version of classic novels and books she had grown familiar with. To Kill a Mockingbird, The Old Man and the Sea, Of Mice and Men, just to name a few. She also found first drafts of books that were banned due to content that were and still are considered to be controversial and challenging. She wanted to see how different the writing was compared to the final draft before it was published. Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale is a perfect example as it represents mature themes and topics such as fertility, religion and rape.

Katherine was so focused on browsing and reading she was unaware of someone watching her from another bookshelf behind her, not far from where she was standing. A cold shiver crept down her spine when she realized exactly who it was and she didn't hesitate to turn around and acknowledge the presence of the King of Dreams himself.

She was certain she had met him before but she couldn't remember where . . . and when. Perhaps her dreams were meant to be forgotten and it's highly possible she may have forgotten about her encounter with him after she woke up . . . if she ever did meet him. However, it doesn't change the fact that she understood it was Morpheus who not only creates dreams and nightmares but also controls and monitors them on a daily basis. Without hesitation, she crossed one leg behind the other and curtsied, her arms wrapped around a book and holding it gently against her chest.

"Your Majesty."

The Wetherly psychic stared at the Endless with a fearless expression on her face as their grip on her chin tightened, but not in a way to hurt her. It didn't take long for her to know they are not to be messed with. She knows who they are and what they are but what they are capable of is yet to be seen.

"That would depend on what you would do to me if I don't behave. I may have a pretty face but I also have a smart mouth and sometimes . . . I say things you probably won't like."

“It’s fine.  Don’t worry about it.  I wasn’t really watching where I was going anyway.”

“Nah, it’s cool. I hope I am not stopping you from getting where you need to go.”

There's something about Zade that drew Katherine in but she couldn't figure out what it is yet. A week ago, she was visiting a local coffee shop, ordering her usual coffee. No sugar, no cream. Just plain black.

Nothing exciting was going on that day but it didn't stop Katherine from enjoying it in the most normal way possible. She was simply enjoying her life like everyone else. However, she had no idea Zade was watching her the entire time she was at the coffee shop. Nor did she know he was there. She was completely unaware of his sudden interest in her and she never even questioned it. Sooner or later, she's going to find out . . . whether she's prepared for it or not.

"You know, it's been a while since I went to a concert. Lucy and I went to see Depeche Mode in Philadelphia last year and . . . let me tell you . . . the Wells Fargo Center was completely packed. Everyone was standing up, singing and dancing. We danced too and we lost our voices from singing our lungs out. It was so . . . much . . . fun and I loved every single moment of it."

Katherine didn't think too long about his invitation and she gave him another smile, the color on her cheeks still red but not as deep as before.

"I don't have anything planned this upcoming weekend. So . . . yes. I would love to go with you. I'll try not to use my phone too much. During the last concert Lucy and I went to, I used up my phone storage because I was taking selfies and recording videos of the band performing our favorite songs."

He noted the way she blushed, the way the pink color seeped over her nose, her cheeks. It was fucking adorable. A sight that he knew he needed to see more of.

When she apologized and then turned her phone off, he also noted that. He was glad for the recipients sake that it was not a man. Things would not have ended so well for them.

He found Katherine over a week ago. She was getting coffee at a coffee shop, a pretty damn normal action but a moment that would change everything.

Her soft brown eyes burned into his mind, her smile, her whole fucking face was all he could see every time he closed his eyes. Her body made his hands itch to hold, to grab, to fucking bruise. He needed her like a man needed oxygen. Little did she know she was going to need him just as badly.

"No problem, I was asking what your weekend looked like? I have these concert tickets and I was wondering if you wanted to attend with me?"

"That is a lovely name, are you named after someone?"

Valeriu raised an eyebrow at the woman. “Not that I am aware of. But thank you, miss, for the compliment.”

“They can leave invisible marks on their prey or they can rip them to pieces.  They drink human blood and eat human flesh . . . and once they’ve taken enough of their victim, they can actually look like that victim too, whenever they choose.  And it doesn’t have to happen all at once.  Sometimes, they’d rather play with their victims . . . for days . . . or weeks . . . or months . . . till they finally grow tired of the Game.  Or until he tells them to stop.”

"Dr. Arjun Chakravarty. Pleasure to have finally meet you and what are you here for today?"

Dominic: "I almost killed you."

Katherine: "You weren't yourself. Your mind was fucked up. You were lacking human blood which was why you went crazy and became a monster. It wasn't your fault, Dominic. If anyone is to blame, it's Nicholas. He was the one who tortured you. Mentally and psychologically. Just like he did to your father when he possessed him. What you went through was horrible and you deserve better than that. You deserve to be loved and cared for, not used, abused and manipulated."

Dominic: "How is my father now? And my sister?"

Katherine: "He's fine. Almost back to normal but he's getting there. Monica, on the other hand, treated me well and she let me stay with her in Texas for as long as I wanted, which I did. I'm very grateful for her hospitality and kindness but I know deep down she hasn't been the same since you disappeared."

Dominic: "And my mother? How is she?"

Katherine: "I'm . . . so sorry, Dominic. Your mother is dead. She passed away a while ago. She was sick with something and we didn't know what it was that was killing her. Monica had to drink her blood so she can become stronger and more powerful than ever before. Your father knew, Lucy knew and I knew. I'm sorry you had to find out this way."

Dominic was quiet for a long moment, allowing the words to sink in. His facial expression was nearly impossible to read despite the guilt and shame he was feeling for nearly killing his own relative.

Dominic: "I'm . . . not ready to come home. Not yet. I need time to grieve on my own and more time to be away from my family, no offense to you."

Katherine: "Of course. Take all the time you need."

Send me "Wanna make out?" for my muses reaction       They just finished round one in intercourse but now this was out of nowhere, yet he didn’t argue each time validating that she did infact belonged to him and would do anything to make him happy. Turning over to her side of the mattress he leaned down kissing her tenderly his hand snaked around her figure pulling her in.
