K and I went to Milano on an organized bus trip from Zagreb. We were partners in crime for concerts for a while now, and we were saving money for this trip. Peppers got their Stadium Arcadium out, and it was a perfect time to go and witness them live.

The bus was leaving at some ungodly hours, but that allowed us to have some time for sightseeing. Our travel guide, Marcello, was a fun guy who showed us around a bit. After we took a look at Castello Sforzesco, drank some espresso, fell for tourist traps with sellers in front of the cathedral, and spun on the bull’s balls, it was time to go to the show.

Since we got there quite early, we had a lot of time to wait, but it was not enough to get upfront much. We did not see the stage too well. There was some group of Italians who basically sat on the floor of the venue and started eating some homemade sandwiches like they were vacationing on an overly expensive Croatian beach. We found it funny.

Then the support started – Mike Watt and The Missingmen. I’m not that big on garage punk rock of theirs, and found it quite boring. When Peppers came to the stage, we were already a bit tired from the entire day (envying Italians on their sandwiches at this point), but generally, the band was quite entertaining and energetic.

They opened with a jam, which followed into Can’t Stop, where the crowd actually went wild. The whole show was a lovely mix of old and new material. I was more of a fan of older stuff since I kind of started getting out of their music with Californication. Hearing Scar Tissue, Funky Monks, and Higher Ground was great. At some point John had a rendition of Runaway (looking at the stats on their website, it seems it’s only one of two times he did it so hooray, I guess? I’d prefer his solo stuff).

I know I should not compare probably, but K and I thought that Pearl Jam a couple of months ago felt like much more of a genuine and feely show. I guess our expectations were also very high from watching the Live At Slane Castle video where everything was just extra. We did not feel like we got that extra.

We slept like logs on the bus to home.

Laura Hurley posted on Facebook that her son, 23-year-old #BrendanHurley , and his friend #AnthonyMcCall , 21, hadn’t been heard from since just before 7 p.m. Tuesday. McCall told family members that Hurley was giving him a ride to McCall's mother's house to let her dog out. Hurley was then supposed to pick his own mother up from work. Laura Hurley said she immediately became worried when he didn't show up. A Dodge Charger linked to the men was found Wednesday morning abandoned near a construction debris recycling plant on Raleigh View Drive, off Garner Road in south #Raleigh , police said. Family members said blood was on the passenger’s seat. Katelin Brown, McCall's girlfriend, said she last heard from him shortly after he left with Hurley. "We texted back and forth for the next 20 minutes. Then, at 6:53 [p/m/.], I got the last message from him," Brown said. "[He wrote] that he loved me and he doesn't want me to be sad." The family put up fliers around the neighborhood, hoping somebody saw something and will say something. Police are trying to determine if there are security cameras mounted on buildings near where the car was found that might have video that will help them figure out what happened to the two men.
