missensemutation replied to your post: Sleep Study Results
Do you think that sleeping on your stomach gets rid of the problems they found as a result of you sleeping on your back?
Nope, because when my roommate noticed I was stopping breathing, I was sleeping like I normally do, on my stomach.

missensemutation replied to your post: What's something you'd like to eat for your last...
…mixed together? (meh. if it’s TMI, might as well :D)
heh, no, not mixed together. I would definitely try ice cream with bacon in it (maybe a butter pecan?), but lemon and bacon, I'm not so sure about.

missensemutation replied to your post: Making azo dyes in lab in about an hour!
i’d bring my closet. :D or maybe you can dye your lab coat?
Hahaha I wanted to, but we didn't end up making quite enough dye to do much with it, just enough to dye strips of fabric to evidence the reaction and the dye's ability to stain certain textiles and not others. Next time...! Seriously, I love tie-dye though, it's getting to be a problem.

I'm a 2nd year Biochem major, and I (have been working up the nerve to do this ask thing) just want to say that you are too awesome for words. I want to be like you one day--become a great doctor ('cause you know you will :D) and be an awesome Christian as well. For me, it just seems so hard to keep the faith when there are premeds that are atheist/agnostic/follow a different religion. So I ask: what kind of study/devotional do you follow to ensure you're keeping up with your walk with Christ?
Whoa, such flattery!
Seriously, stop that. For all you know I could be some guy sitting in a beanbag chair in his underwear eating cheetos, watching porn, and writing a blog. I mean, I’m not, but I could be. I wouldn’t consider myself an awesome Christian or a great medical student at this point in my life. The more you learn, the more you realize your shortcomings and see what you have room to improve on. And trust me, I have lots to improve on.
Anyway, as for Bible studies, I’ve done a ton of different things. I’ve done super intense hour and a half a day studies (Beth Moore is my jam, but she’s wordy), and I’ve done stuff as short as just reading one subject heading a day in my Bible. Right now I’m working on reading the Bible through in a year. I’m in Leviticus, so it’s pretty tedious right now. This chick does not do well with all the rules. I’m reading the laws and thinking “come ooon GRACE!” But I have an app (YouVersion) on my phone that keeps track of my reading progress and sends me a reminder every morning to read.
There have been long periods of time where I didn’t keep up with reading my Bible daily, and it definitely shows in my attitude, my thoughts, and my actions.
I don’t really have a particular study to recommend to you, friend. Usually when I’m stuck and need something to study I’ll pick a topic I’m interested in and do a word study or something. The important thing is that you’re reading. Even if it’s not much, it’s something, and it will benefit you all the same. There will definitely be days where you don’t get much out of what you read, but that material will stick with you and come to mind when you need it later.
I would also suggest maybe finding an accountability parter/mentor/friend (hopefully someone who is just as busy as you or understands your schedule) who you can do a Bible study with or who can encourage you to read every day. I did that my first 2 years of med school, and it helped me a lot.
Oh, and don’t worry about the nonbelievers around you. They’ll always be there, regardless of what field you work in. Be open to their questions and even their challenges (you might learn something!), and use their disbelief to encourage you on in your own study and walk with the Lord.
