#miss my puppy

We had a rescue for ~17 years - the vet identified SEVERAL herding dogs in our beloved mutt - corgi and beagle were the ones BLATANTLY stamped on for everyone to see. Herding dogs are bred to herd and they WILL do their jobs: she immediately assigned herself the job of herding the household AND being a hearing dog for the HoH member (also a form of herding, combined with alerting her to... anything she felt needed Human Attention).

Our beloved one quickly figured out the family’s routine, situated herself in it, and proceeded to herd everyone to their correct locations at the correct times. (our opinions of correct locations/times were not relevant. Only Hers)

You want to do homework or read in your room during Family TV time? Not allowed. SOMEONE is going to come and either bark in your face (if she can’t get on your bed) or shove her head behind your knees until you go where she wants (if she can reach your legs).

You want to sleep in instead of going for a walk in the predawn rain? Barking three inches from your face and little paws pounding on your arm (or head, once) say otherwise.

HoH mom hasn’t reacted to the doorbell/phone/someone walking into the room? Puppy will make sure she’s aware immediately.

Beloved puppy wants to do her bedtime patrol of the whole house? Bedtime, everybody, let’s go! I’ve had my nighttime walk, my final sniffing of the backyard (two separate items), and I’ve followed a kid to their room. Soon as that bedroom light goes off (or I’ve heard the correct number of feet come upstairs), out of the bedroom I go to patrol the house and make sure EVERYONE is where they should be (in bed). After doing her rounds, she’d pick a kid’s room to sleep in (it wasn’t always the same kid).

You’re working from home during the pandemic, and have to move rooms because the sewing machine someone else is using is being picked up by the mic in your team meeting? Puppy will follow and inform you, both vocally and via JUMPING ON YOU that you’re in the wrong room and need to go back to your Correct Chair (she’s 17 at this point. Old and arthritic, but still highly opinionated about How Things Should Be and How To Make Her Humans Fall In Line).

Dogs, purebreed and otherwise, need jobs, and if you don’t give them one, they Will make their own. :D

I think it's so funny how we bred JOBS into dogs. I have two shih tzus and they were bred to be lap dogs. All they care about is looking cute and cuddling with people. Meanwhile my grandma has a border collie and that dog needs to feel so useful all the time, he acts like he will pass away if he doesn't have a job to do constantly

So stressed and unhappy right now. Trying hard not to give up on all of my progress but it's so difficult. I'm not seeing the bright side at the moment. :(

Samantha Béart: yeah so Karlach isn't like. A totally good person. She's certainly not evil, but she's definitely flawed. There is a dark side to her that she doesn't want you to know about, and not only has she done heinous things in the past, she's still fully capable of doing heinous things now. Her happy-go-lucky attitude is 1000% a trauma response and this woman absolutely NEEDS to go to therapy because her mental health? It's in shambles

Also why are we not talking about how Patrick walks into the gym like he fucking owned the place, disrupted practice and chased Art around like no one else mattered??? Laughing and yelling and jumping over nets??? While everyone else watched perplexed because the quiet, shy Art was suddenly this rambunctious teen coaxed out of his shell by the force of nature that was Patrick???

At the sound of the zipper going down, she responds instinctively. A helpless automaton. She licks her lips. Her mouth instinctively opens. Tongue juts out. Eyes go wide. And she feels a slow trickle gliding down her warm thigh.

It's in her DNA. None of it requires thinking. Which is good, because there isn't a thought in her head.

I love being the little spoon for cuddles. It can start out innocent, with me feeling safe, happy, and warm in my partner's arms.

Until I suddenly feel too warm with his breath ghosting over my neck and ear. His hand starts moving over my body, squeezing my thigh, my waist, my shoulder. I can't contain the little sounds of appreciation I make as I melt under his touch.

He leans in close enough to where his lips brush the shell of my ear to ask, "is this okay?" and I can only shiver and whisper "yeah" because I know his every move is deliberate and I don't want to stop him.

His hand slides under my shirt and he begins kissing my neck. He presses himself against me so I can feel how hard I made him. Everything after that is just a haze of love, pleasure, and skin on skin, still feeling safe, happy, and warm.
