We love Laurel!

Laurel's in town! We went with some of her friends to Super in Lyttelton - a Japanese Maori fusion restaurant. It was so tasty! I took approximately zero photos, besides my cocktail and a few pictures of the port.

Then, on Sunday, we spent the day in Sumner. Laurel was staying out that way, so I met her by the beach and we grabbed coffee and breakfast. Then, some other friends joined us for lunch. I had this excellent cauliflower bowl!

After, we went back to the beach and had a good swim before heading into town for some ice cream. The place we went grows some of their own fruit for their ice cream, including grapes and fejoias! We finished off the day soaking in the view from Laurel's accommodation.

She's off on an adventure just in time for Megan and Meghan to come visit. Too bad they'll miss each other, but Laurel will be back in Christchurch in a few weeks!

Monday 9/11/17 I made it through Monday successfully. It was a bit of a roller coaster ride personally. I found out in the morning that my family in FL is all safe and doing well, despite being without power, which was a relief. Then I got a call that my brother was in the ER - he had been getting sick for 12+ hours and my mom took him. By the evening he was back home, evidently his very high blood sugar was the culprit. The day was also kinda challenging physically -- when I woke up yesterday morning my left hamstring was SO insanely tight that I was walking funny. So I did a very light workout and stretched a ton throughout the day. I would love for that to go away. Gotta keep stretching. When I got home from work at 4:30, I put together a baked pasta dish with whole wheat penne, ricotta, and some homemade meat sauce. I also prepped veggies for chicken soup which I put in the crock pot this morning (Tuesday). My Tuesday morning self is really thanking my yesterday self for doing that prep! Monday night I was in bed by 8:30 and I'm happy to say I got a full, amazing eight hours. I needed that! Now it's time to tackle another day.

Both Blaine and Britt have their own storylines in the video, Sam and Santana acting as their respective partners, culminating with kisses like in the video…though Artie doesn’t fade to black fast…It quickly goes viral :)

The Smell of Fresh Cut Grass on Sun Soaked Skin ~ Summer before S2, Sam’s family has just moved to Lima and he’s making extra cash by doing yard work. Gets hired by Mrs. Anderson and he and Blaine meet.

The Most Magical Place on Earth ~ Sam is called to a meeting by Blaine's parents. They sit him down and say that of all of Blaine's friends, Sam is the most reliable, the most trustworthy and the nicest. So they have chosen (maybe even hire) him to keep an eye on Blaine because Blaine tends to go crazy when he takes this annual trip. Cooper couldn't handle him. Kurt couldn't take it. But they think Sam can. When Blaine does his annual week-long trip to Disney World, Sam goes with him. Oh what could possibly happen?

1. Live music. I don’t go out nearly as much as I used to but I still try to catch a show at least once a month. I get real close to the amp and let the music flow through me. I’m lucky that we have such a great scene with plenty of metal and shoegaze (my favorite live for sure, doom in particular), sometimes I’ll venture out to DC if it’s really worth it though. Of course seeing familiar and beloved bands is a fantastic time but the smaller known way under capacity shows have my heart forever.

X-Life Actors AU — Headcannons for Favorite Scene Shootings : Parts 1 - 3

Part 1 - Court House Moments

- Stated in an Interview [Behind The Court House], Scott mentioned how every now and then, the wig he had on would tip over. It drove him insane, having to fix it every 5 minutes

- Joey didn't wear a suit mostly because he didn't like it and also because Meghan/Strawburry17 [Outfit Designer] just threw him a Hawaiian shirt and overalls and said, "Good Luck."

- It took so many shots for the Court House scene that it's become a running joke on set.

- During the scene where Scott is asking everyone to sit down [See episode 7 on Solidarity], Callum/Seapeekay saying "Yes your majesty" wasn't in the script.

- It caught Scott so off guard that he started dying of laughter.

- They had to replace the gavel one time because Scott had let it fall to the ground on accident and it broke apart. Jimmy/Solidarity would always bring up that memory when Scott drops something and it almost, or does, break

- After finishing the final scene, everyone immediately ran off to get rid of the suits/formal wear... except Scott, since his was rather comfortable, as stated in an Interview with him and Lizzie [Behind the Scenes 2]

Part 2 - Olympic Game / Arena

- In an Interview with Scott and Fwhip [Fighting for Screen & Lives], Fwhip mentioned how the differences between Scott's and his outfits were that because Scott said "Fuck Gender Roles." [actual quote he said on set] and wore a evening gown Greek dress that women usually wear.

- He slayed in it.

- When shooting the battles, they had to go through some training with using swords and crossbows. Except Joel, who strangely knew how to use both with ease. No one questioned it.

- Yes they were real swords instead of the holographic swords they usually have

- Stated in an Interview with Fwhip [Olympics Scenes 2], he absolutely despised the way the Laurel Wreath on his head kept bugging him.

- Stated in an Interview with Scott, however, he actually didn't really mind wearing a Laurel Wreath. In fact, every now and then, he'll wear it and parade around the studio, earning a laugh from the cast and crew.

- Oh God, don't get them started with the CGI effects. Oli has some pretty bad PTSD after spending 2 hours on the effect for the End Troll...

- The area they filmed at was actually abandoned for a couple weeks [As stated in Behind the Scenes 3]. Sometimes, Seapeekay would jump-scare the crew into thinking the coliseum was haunted.

- The main bloopers of the shooting was mostly either:

A ) Accidentally almost breaking the swords and/or Crossbows

B ) Lines got messed up

C ) Missing the foe completely

Part 3 - Lizzie's Parkour Area

- There were so many injuries during this shooting day, its not even funny-

- While filming Scott's turn at the Parkour, his foot slipped and the side of his face slammed into the corner of the platform

- He wasn't hurt that badly, just a bruise on his eye

- They technically didn't get rid of the Parkour area, but just removed some of the things on there. Every now and then, you can see some of the cast just hanging around the set, either sitting on the floor or the floating platforms.

- The trophies that were handed out to each person were concept created by Gem and handmade by Katherine

- After the "Scott Incident" [As the cast now calls it after it was stated in an Interview with Lizzie], they changed the material of the platform to make it not as hard; wool to be exact.

- After all the shooting was done, literally everyone volunteered to destroy the set.

- That's how much everyone despised it.

“NEW WAVE” at Red Bull House of Art Detroit.

Opening this Friday, September 22nd, 2017 at Red Bull House of Art in Detroit, Michigan is the Ben Venom curated exhibition entitled “NEW WAVE.”

“NEW WAVE” showcases a diverse range of artists who are pushing the boundaries of their chosen medium including quilts, weaving, ceramics and printmaking-based works. Patrons will be confronted with images of otherworldly creatures, battle jackets, menacing masks and weapons that can be pulled off the wall and used at any time during the exhibition opening.

Artists include: Rose Eken, Bob Gorman, Laurel Roth Hope, Dennis McNett, Erin M. Riley, Lucien Shapiro, Truth Never Told, Meghan McAleavy and Ben Venom.

Migraines suck big time but I will admit that I have not had one for months which I attribute to better diet and going to the gym. I think the migraine and fibromyalgia flare were due to major changes in our weather. I was feeling better yesterday and although still aching and tired I did go to the gym. Felt every minute of it but I put in my time and slept well. Got up today feeling much better although tired. @miss-meghan-laurel i am so sorry that you were feeling just as miserable. It’s funny how every migraine seems to be different. I’m sorry to hear that yours are getting worse. For me it was trial and error to figure out what might be causing them. Turns out it was red wine and barometric pressure changes. I hope that you can figure out what is causing yours. Hugs 💜

Sunday 9/10 Sunday was a pretty lazy, very fall-esque day. First thing, I headed to the grocery store to shop for the week before the crowds got too crazy. Then B and I went apple picking - hooray! We came home with a nice big basket of fresh gala apples. The farm also had a bakery, where we watched them make some apple cider donuts. It looked (& smelled) amazing! When we got home, we did some chores, and I baked a banana bread using olive oil and honey rather than butter and sugar. It came out pretty nice! I also prepped some stuffed baked apples, but we haven't had those yet. The big Sunday pot roast dinner I made had us too full for dessert. 😍 Today is Monday September 11, and being in NYC, it's always a strange day for me. Lots of feels. Lots of heightened security. Meh. To all my Florida friends, I've been praying for you and I hope you've made it through the storm well so far. Stay strong and stay safe! 💛
