The city lights would obscure the stars but they were there, watching over silently the red bowman used to the lookout duty. It wasn’t something that his new Master had ordered, a mere something that he decided to do out of his own volition whilst she had a good night’s rest – he felt their connection before the footsteps could be heard and she located him. ❝ …. Ah, there you are.  ❞ he said casually as if it had nothing to do with him. Normally they should go hunting by nightfall, yet a good night’s rest was also important. Or perhaps Archer found himself distracted stargazing. Maybe it was a little of both along with the unwillingness to disturb her. It was a cold night, colder than it should be. Lonely and cold. The guardian turned to face her now that the silence was broken, the distant lights delineating his tall figure that stood quietly in the night.

Elysium by Misaya

Modern AU. Eruri. 20 chapters. Recluse Levi. Writer Erwin. Farlan Church (mentioned). Mike Zacharias. So much can change in two years.

There's not much physical action (i.e. yelling, crying, fist fights, etc.) but so much happens. Most of the "action" is internal and in flashbacks. There are layers upon layers to peel back and discover in this fic. Some clues are subtle and I had to go back and reread passages to piece together what happned.

Both Erwin and Levi are recovering from broken relationships, Levi more so than Erwin. As you read, you realize how hurt Levi is, but you and Erwin are witnesses to his healing and growth. A quiet and underrated fic. Each sentence, each paragraph is beautifully constructed. Warning for physical and emotional abuse, death and implied suicide.
