I haven't updated the Tumblr app in ages, why tf can't I get rid of the Tumblr Live icon anymore? Why is "snooze Tumblr Live" a 30 day thing but only takes it off the top of my dash and not out of the bottom bar anymore? Hey @staff what the fuck?

Answering this publicly because I want to remind folks to keep an eye out for things like this. This has all of the indicators of a scam, starting with the fact that you don't want me to reply publicly or you'll be found out.

Folks, if you're going to try to scam people out of their money, please be smarter than this. We've got the sob story of the sick cat, and the very polite ask, but literally any further investigation shows multiple suspicious markers.

I don't know you. You have never interacted with my posts before this point. You don't follow me. The phrasing of the ask is awkward and has poor grammar that reads as a bot rather than English as a second language or something. And, most importantly, the oldest reblog on your blog is 11 hours old.

Come on, man. You've got enough reblogs to look decent at a quick glance, the phrasing of the ask feels real enough on first reading, and you've at least got a profile pic and bio and reasonable url, but this is so obviously fake. I'm not going to reverse image search the cat pictures or look into the link but I don't think they'll line up with your story on scrutiny either.

Friends, don't give these people (if this is a person and not a bot like they don't want you to think they are) money unless you already know them, please. Any future asks like this that I receive will result in people being blocked and reported and their asks deleted. I don't appreciate people trying to manipulate my empathy for personal gain.

PSA for other folks who are out there fighting the waves of bot followers:

It's not just the ones following you that you need to watch out for. Keep an eye on folks liking your posts. If you see someone there with a profile pic with a photo of a conventionally attractive woman (who isn't someone you recognize as a regular follower of course), odds are that it's a porn bot. Not just an empty blog, one with actual porn.

This tip probably won't help for people with a lot of folks liking and reblogging their stuff, but thought I should put the word out so at least small blogs know what to look out for.

Regarding your tag about the Boreal Omen River, 'boreal' is a term relating to the north, usually taiga forests and such (the word comes from the name of the Greek god of the north wind).

'Arboreal' is a different term relating to trees. The two do sound similar but aren't related to each other.
