The ‚interesting‘ writing decisions at the end of season 5. (Adrien and his Dad)

And why I think we can forgive the writers for this.

Hello again! I promised that I would make a post about season 5, Adrien, his father and the ‚bad‘ writing. I at least try to keep my promises so here we are.

To pick everyone up, let’s start a bit in the past. Many fans were…. ‚Very angry‘ when season 5 ended. The reason for this was the final fight. Or at least one of the reasons. You see, we knew that Gabriel was on his deathbed. During the fight, for just a moment, his finger was literally breaking off. Nathalie died earlier too.

We got this huge showdown in the Agreste villa. But who was missing? Adrien! Chat Noir was not there! Gabriel’s son! The one who deserves to learn the truth more than anyone!

I admit, learning that he pretty much killed his dad with cataclysm and that his mom was dead all this time in the basement, not to mention seeing Nathalie die too, who was like a second mother, would have been way too much for him.

Let’s be real. That would be too much for everyone. We can‘t really shame the writers for not showing all of that at once in a show that targets kids.

However, even if we say ‚ok. Seeing all of this would have been too much. But they will TELL him for sure right?!‘ No. We didn’t get that either.

Till this day, the miraculous London special is out and we wait for season 6, this boy didn’t learn the truth or get any form of closure!

Everyone is lying to him. His girlfriend, his partner Ladybug, his ‚new mom‘, Felix, Kagami and even Plagg.

To be fair, they are also lying to everyone else. But that’s not the point.

You see, Adrien’s character arc was pretty much always about people lying to him, leaving him in the dark or leaving him out.

I mean with catwalker, we even got an episode in which he got rightfully angry, because ladybug didn’t take his complaints serious and didn’t treat him like a partner. Instead she used the other heroes more and more. I think Plagg even scolded her when she didn’t see what she did wrong and why he was angry.

But anyway. Adrien was always left in the dark.

He was never free either. The other big part of his arc was about rebelling against his father. Hell, he doesn’t even know that he is a sentimonster! Yeah they never said the word but it is more than clear that he is.

In the trailer for season 6, we saw that he still wears the designs of his father. He thinks that his dad is a hero, thanks to ladybugs lie and still can‘t be free, even after his dad is gone. Gabriel’s shadow will still hang over him.

I think, that he will try to make his dad proud in some way. Don‘t know how but I would not be surprised if they did that.

This is pretty much what we have so far. Adrien is in the dark as always. But I said that I think we can forgive the writers for this. How?

Simple. We can forgive them, if they use this situation to create a new character arc.

In my last post, I said that thanks to time travel, there would be no real danger and that the writers may have written themselves into a corner. I think that, we need a real problem. And I think Adrien will be the key.

Long ago, I theorized that Marinette and Adrien HAVE to break up in season 6 or at least at one point.

I think that the writers can use Adrien’s situation to turn chat noir into a real problem. Cerise doesn’t even have to akumatize him. Once he finds out the truth, he on his own could come to the conclusion, that he can‘t trust anyone.

Let’s be real here. The ladybug and the cat miraculous are opposites for a reason. They balance each other out. If anyone could have the power to really go against ladybug, it would be him. Not only was he her partner long enough to know how she thinks, he also can destroy whatever she creates.

Don‘t get me wrong, I don‘t want Marinette to suffer. She is still a 14 year old teenager in the last special. This was too much for her to handle and we saw how done she was with everything. But the special also made it clear, that her ‚good‘ intentions were blinded by love and she made a bad decision by not telling Adrien the truth.

So this scenario will probably come eventually and it will be ugly. Before that however, Marinette will be tortured by seeing everyone, including Adrien, seeing Gabriel as a hero. The guilt will eat her up. And when Cerise or maybe even miss Tsurugi make their move, she will be done for. She would lose a lot of allies. Probably only Felix, Kagami and Alix (maybe Luka too) would remain because they know the truth. Luka just because he would understand that this might have been to big for her to make public.

So, were we wrong to be mad about the writing at the end of season 5? No. Don‘t think so. But if the writers really use this to their advantage, even if it’s by making Adrien a villain for a while, I think it could be a fitting conclusion for his character. That is ‚if‘ they do that though.

Monarch's Miracle Rings take in a Kwami's power when he calls on their containment jar and interfaces the corresponding ring by way of a fist bumping it.

It's mirrors Ladybug and Chat's "Pound it!" where it's a celebration of their partnership where here, it's Gabriel treating the Kwamis as mere fuel for his mad schemes.

If I wrote an episode of Miraculous's Season 5, it'd involve this

For context, the episode would involve a music festival that the students volunteer to as a way to increase their chances to attend any university of their choice. The catch is that every student is assigned to a band to help out through out the whole festival. Marinette is assigned to help The Crüxshadows, an American darkwave band, which surprises everyone. At first, Marientte was a little nervous, but after meeting the band, she calms down and she gets along with them instantly. She ends up using the band's outfits as inspirations for her own fashion designs.

Throughout the episode, Marinette gains the band's respect while she overhears other band's talking about her classmates (Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel expressing his suspicion of Lila Rossi; Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance ranting about Chloe Bourgeois's behavior and her constant use of the phrase "utterly ridiculous", etc). What occurs before this is that Chloé and Lila cornered Marientte and threaten to make her as miserable as possible to the point of Marientte suffering a panic attack to which Bill, Gerard, and Rogue walk in on. Chloé and Lila are startled as soon as they realize they have witnesses. Bill, Gerard, and Rogue dragged the girls into the principal’s office.

While there, Rogue demands two of the teachers sponsoring the students into the office as well. As soon as they arrive, Bill and Gerard cuss out Lila and Chloé (in German and English respectively) while Marinette cries into Rogue's shoulder as he glares at the staff as if he's demanding an explanation. The staff is not only surprised by what their witnessing, but also trying to figure out how to explain it. Of course, they fail at it and Rogue (without changing his facial expression or raising his voice) rips into everyone and explains, in no uncertain terms, does not take cowardice lightly.

Naturally, Chloé would call her father and Rogue snatches the phone before anyone could say anything. The call would go something like this:

Rogue: Are you Chloé Bourgeois's father?

Mayor: This is he. How may I help you?

Rogue: I have a question to ask you.

Mayor: Of course, sir.

Rogue: Did you know that your daughter was antagonizing another student to the point of a panic attack?

Mayor: Excuse me?

Rogue: I'm asking if you're aware of your daughter's behavior at our music festival.

Mayor: Eh... well...

Rogue: Are you going to discipline her?

Mayor: ...

Rogue: So, your just going to let your daughter get away with this bullying behaviour?

Before Mayor Bourgeois could answer, another voice, who turns out to be Chloé's mother Audrey, bursts in and demands his attention. Rogue then asks if it's her mother and asks to speak to her. The phone call with her goes into Rogue tearing Audrey down and Audrey explaining about how Chloé is a disappointment to the family. Rogue snaps and then asks in a very cold and intimidating tone,"Do you even _like_ your daughter?" Silence. Chloé ends up sobbing into her hands. Rogue sighs and says, "You are the _worst_ excuse for a mother I have _ever_ had the misfortune of talking to. No wonder Chloé acts out like that." Rogue hangs up and glares at the staff.

The result is that Chloé and Lila are thrusted into community service in another part of Paris, away from the festival. Adrien, who has known Chloé for as long as he could remember, suggests a therapist to her. Chloé decides to take it into consideration (she does so, without ever telling Lila). Marinette doesn't like the idea, at first, but after what she saw and heard from Chloé's mother, she realizes that Chloé really needs it, especially after the deep seeded issues from that mother figure. And let's be real, Lila just makes it worse just by being around (and makes everyone a whole lot dumber).

Notes: The bands are immune to Lila's intelligence dimming abilities for two reasons:

Number 1.) Some have religious symbols on them (Rogue, himself, is a Catholic Christian, so he wears a cross around his neck along with his ahnk necklace; Adam Lambert has Jewish ancestry on his maternal side and keeps his Star of David close to him), which is likely protecting them from whatever lies they hear from Lila

Number 2.) A lot of the bands have some form of blue and black on their person. In most cultures (including witchcraft), blue is associated with intelligence, while black is associated with protection. So, with blue and black paired together, the intelligence of others is protected from Lila's power

Bonus: The festival was close to shutting down due to Adam Lambert being kidnapped by Hawk Moth/Monarch. Getting really sick and tired of the whole thing, Adam basically socs Hawk Moth/Monarch in the face (knocking him out) and basically walking out in annoyance.

Fanfiction Prompt

Nooroo decides that he's not about to allow his next owner to bully and buffalo him like Gabriel did. So he runs a bluff, telling her that Monarch embedded _so much_ of his power in his lair that Nooroo is now attuned to it; if she wants to use him for negative purposes, she'll have to do it from there. Which startles Adrien greatly when, one Sunday morning, he witnesses Lila Rossi rise up on a hidden elevator platform and pop up next to the portrait of his mother. There is a long pause. "Hi. I live in your basement now," Lila deadpans.

how I would rewrite Felix and his relationships with Adrian and Kagami!

for my miraculous rewrite, i thought to write Felix as a cold boy and never knew how to show his emotions, he grew up never trusting anyone who tried to get close to his family, because every time he ended up being someone who only liked them for their status and their wealth.

Adrian was like a brother, but he never admitted it, Adrian admires his maturity a lot, but Felix is ​​always cold with him. When the akumatized appear, Amelie decides to move to the Agrest mansion to spend more time with Adrian and Gabriel, worrying about both of them. Slowly Felix would find out that Gabriel is Monarch (this would be during the third season) and he would have a hard time trusting Adrian's friends and would prefer to study at home, but Adrian convinces him to join a school, and he is placed in the same school as Kagami.

He discovers that at this point in the story the two would be together and he doesn't trust her very much and starts to keep an eye on her, and Adrian's friends. But slowly he realizes that they genuinely care about him, including Chloe who has stopped chasing him and has become less obnoxious.

He would discover that Gabriel is Monarch but would not tell Adrian as he would know that his cousin would have a fit, instead he begins to infiltrate the league of villains that Monarch has created out of the citizens of Paris who genuinely care about him for various reasons. Felix decides to accept being part of this group to further investigate Gabriel's motivations, finds out about Maiura and about the ancient peacock miraculous holder and about the miraculous being damaged.

After Natallie becomes ill, Monarch fixes the miraculous and after a few missions of Felix getting close enough to the heroes to know some of their weaknesses he thinks he was worthy of the miraculous (that and in case the miraculous is still damaged, he wouldn't have to be the one to be affected).

By the way, Felix's mission would be because a little before he joined them, Felix would have already interacted with some of the heroes, having become interested in Chat Noir and even having stayed close to Ryuko with both carrying a sense of protection for what they care about (meaning Adrian)he wouldn't know yet that she was Kagami.

because of his closeness and Ryuko and chat noir both trusting him even though he wasn't a hero, he was a "perfect spy". Monarch gives the peacock miraculous which immediately seemed to resonate with him, Duusu immediately saw potential in it, but also a pain and guilt, and Felix kind of didn't know how to treat the Kawami until the two got to know each other and discovered that the butterfly's Kawami wasn't very good, betrayed by Monarch.

The two were close, and Felix served the same as Maiura did, creating sentimonsters for the villains of the week, but mainly for the villains who were part of this group of villains formed by the Monarch. The closer he got to knowing Monarch's motivations, the more the villain discovered his intentions, and at that point, he would have created a more powerful version of the akuma that could control the mind of the akumatized without the possibility for them to fight against (before that, he only gave the powers to the akumatized and gave them orders by manipulating them, now this is basically mind control or brainwashing!) after discovering that he was Felix, she takes him to Ladybug and Chat Noir, he tells them everything he knows and it shakes Adrian who runs away.

this makes Felix realize that it was his cousin and that he should tell him everything privately. And after explaining that the peacock miraculous is the reason Natallie is sick and his mother is dead and that this is because the miraculous was damaged, it makes Adrian horrified and paranoid every time he sees the other heroes, who he sees as family, on dangerous missions, from which they might get hurt, every end of a mission he would immediately check their miraculous to make sure nothing happened.

He would have nightmares every night because of it, his fear of losing people he cares about, Verparion and Carapace will already reveal their identities, so he would be super worried about his friends, and Ladybug was the person he admired the most, someone who gave him confidence and courage, he was afraid of losing her! but he can't simply explain what's going on, he cares about the well being of others, but not his. At that point, he would have taken Felix to hide with Master Fu, who would teach him more about the miraculous he didn't know, and stay out of Monarch's sight as he knew he would hunt him down.

Kagami would visit him as Ryuko, and kind of their romance would start like this, at this point in the story, she and Adrian would have formally ended because she knew that Adrian would be happier with Marinette who he always smiles around her while with her his smile was happy but not in the same way he smiles with her. So she would kind of spend more time with Felix, trying to convince him to be more open about his emotions and how he feels about Adrian.

sorry if it was too much… I just find Felix very interesting, but with very mixed motivations. I just like his character and decided to do a rewrite on his character.

By the way, all heroes are permanent and not temporary! the Kawamis who choose them, and they who make the decision whether or not to reveal their identities for any reason but only between themselves and Master Fu! so some of them will know the identity of some, it's not mandatory for them not to know each other's identity!
