MiqoMarch day 08, “Wilderness”
Miqo'te are hunters by tradition, and those raised according to tradition are often taught to both hunt and survive from a young age. Though Kea may have cut all ties with her tribe and become a stray, the teachings still run deep.

End-of-Year Special 6: Buscarron's Scar
The small party trudged through a particularly muddy crevice. “Careful!” Sylphie called. “It’s just rained, you know!” Silvairre shushed her with a sharp wave of his hand, and, chastened, Sylphie fell silent once more.
“What can you tell me about Pawah Mujuuk, Leih?” Nia’a asked, keeping his voice low.
“Well, I… To tell the truth, I don’t know her, really.” Leih hung her head in shame. “After the Calamity, my family home was wiped out, and I ended up in Gridania. You’ve stayed around Buscarron’s for a while, surely you know more than I at this point.”
From several paces back, Silvairre cleared his throat pointedly. Nia’a looked back toward him and found him wearing the most insufferably condescending expression. “Truly times must be hard if neither of the two Miqo’te on our mission even know of our target.” Leih’s face twisted in hurt and anger, but Nia’a just sighed bitterly. What sort of lesson the Archer’s Guild hoped to impart by pairing the two up for missions was beyond him.
As for himself and Sylphie, Leih was still serving as Sylphie’s bodyguard, and Sylphie was due for her pilgrimage to the South Shroud, so at some point the two girls had agreed that it was best to wipe out two birds with the same stone. Nia’a wouldn’t have joined them if O-App-Pesi hadn’t dangled his leverage in front of him, but… in truth, Nia’a was starting to acclimate to the new status quo of being perpetually ordered about by the man. Even if he weren't Tree-Blessed, he seemed to have a knack for getting people to do what he wanted.
And, it seemed, today he wanted Nia’a to accompany Sylphie, Leih, and Silvairre on this mission into the South Shroud, to stop the K eeper of the Moon Pawah Majuuk.
“She is the most infamous poacher ever to walk the Twelveswood,” Silvairre explained, his Elezen features twisted into a sneer. “A born leader, deadly with the bow, she formed her own gang of Miqo'te hunters in the wake of the Calamity to take advantage of Gridania’s weakened forces. She has thrown the balance into disarray. She was apprehended once, and would have been brought to justice...had she not tricked a foolish young sentry into releasing her, before vanishing without a trace.”
[…]
“An’ what have we here?” Nia’a heard from behind him. He froze.
Pawah Mujuuk strolled into view, sizing him up with a glance. “Well, well. If it isn’t ol’ scaredy-cat himself. Thought you of all people would’ve had the brains — or the cowardice — not to step into my corner o’ the Twelveswood.”
Nia’a stayed frozen. She knew of him, at least. Hopefully she knew enough to not consider him a threat. He had to get out of this.
She walked up in front of him. Why had he knelt down to the ground to investigate the footprints?! He tilted his head back to look up at her, fear hammering in his chest.
“Ye know ye were the talk o’ the forest for a while. Not only are ye a half-breed with some bloody Sun-addled vagrant, but a runaway who don’t even have the stones to pick up a weapon? I s’pose it must be a relief fer yer mum, havin’ one less mouth t’ feed.”
Shame, loathing, disgust filled Nia’a to his core. “Yeah. Ye get it now, don’tcha. We’ve been watchin’ ye. Fer awhile now. Once upon a time we thought we could extend a job offer. One o’ my best hunters fell that day, right when you came up — the shame of the entire Tsara family — and ye had a prize bow sittin’ on the ground in arms’ reach. But no, ye couldn’t be one o’ us. I guess yer dear old mum never told ye: A hunter with no fangs ain't nothin' but prey.”
That had only been a few days ago. After five years of waiting around after the Calamity, Nia’a still couldn’t brave the depths of the Shroud. The monsters that lurked in the treeline wouldn’t have overlooked him just because he was an herbalist or botanist — a noncombatant. Like fate, a bow had been presented to him. A familiar bow, one carved in the traditional style of the Rootslake clans. Just looking at it had made him feel closer to home.
He had wanted desperately to find his father, but he had likewise known he was the worst person for the task. He had seen the bow and pictured himself, fierce and brave, loosing a volley on whatever fiends had torn his family apart years ago, his braided hair flowing behind him in the wind. He had pictured himself as if he was his eldest sister — the pride of the family — instead of… himself.
And when he had snapped back to reality, the thought of firing an arrow at another living being — coupled with the recognition that he would never be his family’s pride — had turned his stomach so violently that he had immediately dropped to his knees, ill. And Pawah had seen his shame.
“Now, the question is, what do I do with ye,” Pawah mused. “Like hells are ye capable of layin’ a finger on me. But I can’t just let ye flap yer tongue to the Wood Wailers that ye saw me here…” She smirked. “I s’pose we can cut out that tongue of yers t’ keep it from flappin’ and send ye on yer way.”
“No!” he yelled, voice cracking. “No, I’ll go with you! I may not be able to— to hunt, but I can tend your wounds or— or mix poisons for your arrows, or—”
Pawah squatted down to look Nia’a directly in the eye. “Ye know what I hate about ye? Granted, I don’t know ye very well, just through reputation, but ye’ve confirmed the worst o’ the worst fer me already.” She grabbed him by the collar and pulled his head closer to hers. “Ye don’t got a backbone. Ye don’t choose a side; ye stumble into one or th’ other. And when the goin’ gets tough, ye’ll sell anybody out t’ save yer own skin. That’s why I don’t buy into yer shitty ‘never hurt a fly’ preachin’. How many o’ yer tribesmen have ye killed by runnin’ away?”
She threw him back to the ground, and his head collided with a rock. He thought he heard the rock apologize for hurting him in its alien whispers. The ground was too noisy here, he could barely hear himself think, let alone figure out how to escape —
“Get away from him!” Leih yelled, and an arrow zipped past Pawah. A warning shot.
Pawah jumped. “Well, well. Seems ye should be grateful yer friends are more loyal t’ ye than ye are t’ them.” With one final wicked sneer in Nia’a’s direction, Pawah leapt into the air again, and was gone.

Yay! What a nice touching family reunion for our Twelveswood miqo'te!
This was a very recent scene. I've long known I want to do something with the combat guild quests for Gridania. They're such an insular society and they have such a complicated relationship with the Keepers of the Moon and the Duskwights —both of which are a uniquely Gridanian thing. Ul'dah has something similar-ish with its treatment of refugees, but Ala Mhigo gets its own geographical area and its own expansion.
I don't exactly know how everything is going to resolve, on a large scale, with the different groups around Gridania. But I was thinking about the parallels between the insular Gridanians and the insular Keepers of the Moon, and I think things are very difficult for Nia'a in exile.
Join me tomorrow as Vivimani completes a couple quests that he's 50 to 60 levels too weak for in canon. He cannot be stopped.

Day 5 - Stamp
"Kaleh'a!"
"Hm?" The blonde haired Miqo'te opened a turquoise eye, peering out from under his archer's hat, noting the large Hyur storming his way. He looked, at first glance, angry, and that had Kaleh'a's tail shooting out straight, sitting up rapidly, half ready in a crouch in the chair he had leaned back in the Rising Stones, half wondering if he was about to have to pull a knife on the black haired man - Bryn, wasn't it? - storming towards him. That was, until he saw what was in his hands.
He blinked, eyes alighting on the envelope and wax seal keeping it closed, his eyebrows shooting up as he realized instead of death, he was about to get a new job. Ever since he had officially become the courier for the Scions, ferrying their letters or supplies or information wherever it was needed. It worked out well for him, in a myriad of ways, the first and foremost that he got to explore the world. The Scions had so many different groups in different areas that every time he got a request, it was almost certainly to somewhere exotic, new, and adventurous!
His initial adrenaline spike cooled, and he pushed up into a stand, brushing off non-existent dirt from his brown pants, and gave Bryn a beaming grin. "Well, what do you know. The mighty Silver Wolf has come to ask for my humble ser-"
He was shut up rather quickly by the letter shoved into his chest, blinking in surprise as he stared at the stamped seal, slowly looking up at the taller man and frowning, not too pleased with the rough delivery, crossing his arms and tucking the letter under his arm. "Hey, what's the big de-"
"I need you to get that to Ul'dah. Red door, back alley." Gruff voice, tinged with worry, and a bit of bite, and Kaleh'a suddenly realized that it wasn't anger in his expression. Those furrowed brows were concern.
His tail flicked, his eyes rising to Bryn's silver ones, and he nodded, pocketing the letter. Then, his customary grin was back, and he started to stride off, looking over his shoulder as he waved. "I got it! I'll have it delivered in no time! Even use the aetheryte, but that will cost you extra!"
The responding growl had the young Miqo'te hightailing it out of the Rising Stones, a nervous laugh trailing after him as he decided that he liked his tail where it was for the time being.

💫 OCs 💫
Renoki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Renoki Sinro
Race/clan: Miqo'te/Keeper of the Moon
Gender: Male
Age: Mid-twenties
Nameday: 7th Sun of the 1st Umbral Moon
Guardian: Halone, the Fury
Main job: Dragoon
Personality/overview: Laid-back, friendly, gets distracted easily, easy to please, protective. Cares deeply about his friends and loved ones and tries to see the best in people.
Overview: Very close to G'raha and Y'shtola, and sees Alphinaud and Alisaie as his younger siblings. Frequently returns to the Crystarium and spends a great deal of time there. Renoki owns a house in the Empyreum and often visits Aymeric (and Aymeric often visits him in his house). Renoki and his sister are orphans and were raised in Tailfeather following their parents' deaths. He left Tailfeather for Ul'dah to learn the art of Thaumaturgy so that he could better provide for his sister, but ended up following the path of the Dragoon instead. Renoki is very expressive, and the positioning of his ears and tail are very telling of his current state of mind. He is noticeably more cat-like in his mannerisms than many other miqo'te.
Rinoka
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Rinoka Sinro
Race/clan: Miqo'te/Keeper of the Moon
Gender: Female
Age: Early twenties
Nameday: 17th Sun of the 1st Astral Moon
Guardian: Halone, the Fury
Main job: Dragoon
Personality: Feisty, resilient, protective, boisterous. Has a tendency to keep people at arm's length and is slow to trust them.
Overview: Suffered severe amnesia after the Calamity due to being hit by rubble and rendered unconscious, leaving her unable to recognise her brother, Renoki, despite his fame as the Warrior of Light. She remembers her life as a child and remembers her family's faces (and her parents' fates) but is unable to recall their names. Usually hides her amnesia from others to avoid unwanted questions. Rinoka learned to wield a lance during her time in Tailfeather, and has recently come to Ishgard following a long stay in Meracydia.
Y'rhuna
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Y'rhuna Tia
Race/clan: Miqo'te/Seeker of the Sun
Gender: Male
Age: Late teens
Nameday: 32nd Sun of the 1st Astral Moon
Guardian: Thaliak, the Scholar
Main job: Paladin/Scholar
Personality: Cheerful, ambitious, slightly naïve, optimistic. Driven by his determination to prove his ability as a fighter.
Overview: Born and raised in Sharlayan, has lived quite a sheltered life. Always looked up to the likes of G'raha Tia and Alphinaud Leveilleur, and is very keen to show everyone that he can be skilled both academically and physically. Idolises G'raha Tia in a similar way to how G'raha Tia idolises the Warrior of Light. Commissioned a tailor to make him a copy of the Crystarium gear after he saw the Warrior of Light wearing it.
Lyra
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Lyra Tachibana
Race/clan: Viera/Rava
Gender: Female
Age: Around 120 years old
Nameday: 11th Sun of the 6th Umbral Moon
Guardian: Althyk, the Keeper
Main job: Dancer
Personality: Charming, strong-willed, calm, proud. Tends to be quite secretive.
Overview: Elegant and graceful, Lyra is used to being underestimated when it comes to her prowess on the battlefield. Like the Warrior of Light, she is able to travel between the First and the Source, and it is rumoured that she fled to the Source some time before the Crystal Exarch arrived in Norvrandt.
Faelene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Name: Faelene Sinwood
Race/clan: Viera/Rava
Gender: Male
Age: Mid-thirties
Nameday: 15th Sun of the 3rd Umbral Moon
Guardian: Oschon, the Wanderer
Main job: Lancer/Archer
Personality: Shy, thoughtful, introspective, curious. Very considerate of others and good at empathising.
Overview: Longing to explore the world outside of his native forest, Faelene set off alone to venture into the heart of Eorzea and learn more about the different races that inhabit it. He decided to become an adventurer after hearing adventurers share their tales in the various taverns he visited. Despite discovering that he could further advance his mastery over the bow and the lance to become a Bard and a Dragoon, Faelene decided to continue to fight and hunt in the ways he had been taught as a kit. Even with his gradual acclimatization to the bustling settlements of Eorzea, he retains the somewhat reticent nature of his people.

I've been working on a full body doodle of my Miqo'te Bard Wafers (FFXIV). Got a decent base thanks to @adorkastock - was totally inspired by her archer post. (Also sorry for genderbend)
Current difficulty is the silly anime bow Terpendar Lux. I did it wrong and had to start again.
Will give catboi his tail once bow is one so it can compositionally look good with massive anime bow.

Miqo'te are and Miqo'te do
Would Hrothgals come and fantasia over you? Or wiggle your ears and tail, a Miqo’te stay? When you’re Gridanian, Archer and Adder There are more females, fuzzy memory this be based Same thing with MenMiq, some are post-EW interactions When this become a Jellicle song?
Looking back before Dawntrail hits. Is long with a mix of timeline, post-EW and NG+ pics. If you don’t see them, either I don’t have pics or hadn’t met/unlock them or forgot.
Event Miqo'te and the four/five(?) Miq'ttens are left out of this. Miq'tten would get their own piece for lols.
ARR
Tumblr media
Most if not all the Miqo'te women are belong to ARR and are in Gridania and Limsa. Does Ul'Dah see them as being closer to beasts? What about Hrothgar?
A Realm Reborn
Leih Aliapoh was Hylnyan’s mentor and everything was Moon Miqo’te from here. There’s at least two more Miqo’te hanging around the guild. Her Archer quest is linked to Pawah Mujuuk of the Coeurlclaws
Miah Molkot, Took a bit of her lore for Hylnyan since they both from North Shrouds. Skirmishes with the birdmen and all. Do her quest line(Hostages of Fortune), she’s a birding cat like Hylnyan.
Do Delivery Moogle quest, The Past Is a Story We Never Tell is about the Lizeh sisters and Coeurl Claw women and the way they are treated. It triggers a Coeurl King fight (FATE not FATE?). I don’t have the Coeurlclaw women pics. Was still new and the notion of timelines diversion from Meteor (aka follow cinematic jobs) and duty trust addon accidental gaslighting hadn’t hit me yet.
Una Tayuun and here I was thinking we might have a quest to get her memories back. Cat distribution system is active in the Scions company(technically two males and three female excluding Miqo'te WoL ).
Forgotten spring Miqo’te women and their skirmishes with the Amalj’aa and tied into Amalj’aa tribal with Loonh Gar.
I remember J’moldva from the Blacksmith questline (her of the groovy red shades). And then to see her pop up with Arevnvald and V’mah Tia, it be like squee after how J Tribe were name dropping her the whole time Hylnyan was questing around Ala Ghiri. Totally fine with Hellfire Phoenix senpai being DPS trust in Skallac trust run as she has Ala Mhigan ties as well.
If its not obvious enough I adore Commander Rhiki for no reason other than her design. And that she’s a Triple Triad buddy
Heavensward
Tumblr media
In another life Hylnyan could had been Renda-Rae. I kinda end up thinking that she could Jehantel’s shard since her early glory days of the hunt mark seeking and losing her team sounded like him.
It will always be funny that Widargelt’s three main disciples and one antagonist are Miqo’te. The cat distribution system favours this man.
Mujih Mewrilah, Botany quest journalist despawned while her Ivalice sister remained in Kugane. The Raven journalists do be wearing uniforms like Events Miqo'te Kipih Jakkya. All Saints' Wake 2024 edition.
Q'yantaa of Tailfeathers questline I did because Hylnyan was suppose to eventually go to Idyllshire with her mate to start a new life pre ARR. And treating Tailfeathers as a rest stop to learn about their surroundings and offer their skills is a thing they would do.
Zhloe and the Custom Delivery crew are all in Metian Gear until further notice
Stormblood
Tumblr media
M’naago and the M tribe folks/related FATEs. Something about how Hylnyan’s footprint in the Ala Mhigo regions was rather small and that most Miqo’te tribes and resistance folks are more aware of her military involvement than her WoLness (much notes about Hylnyan’s area of influence being region based later). While common folks sees her as just another hunting Miqo’te.
J'olhmym, J'olhmym, J'olhmym. M'zhet thinks you're the one for him~~~ Of tribal quest. Vaguely recall J tribe in FATEs / side quests and there were various NPCs namedropping J’moldva in the Ala Ghiri region. That one questline in MSQ involving an Garlean mayor/captain(Baut) of Ala Ghiri
Shadowbringers
Tumblr media
Qeshi-Rae aka Hylnyan’s “twin”(looks and personality) was already wearing this hairstyle before Claudien. Facet of Gathering was a post EW followup quest series for me.
It felt like there were more male Mystel roles in ShB and I’m very likely forgetting Crystarium staff and Kholusians somehow
I have not unlock Dancer
Endwalker
Tumblr media
Very likely forgetting Sharlayan folks in Labyrinthos (sorry Hamlet and Ragnarok crew) for not standing out somehow. Non Miqo’te NPCs seems to ping my radar more this expac
Bonus
Tumblr media
Fray when you’re a Miqo’te too.
The nameless young lady in Haurchefant’s office seems to be one of the rare Miqo’te in snowy place. Unless there are more and I can’t find them
What do you mean Alliance Grand Melee Adder isn’t Tyoh Moui?
Only doing Miqo'te since Hylnyan Miqo'te.
