About Seul-ae ୭ 🧷 ✧ ˚. ᵎᵎ 🎀
Age: Same age as Jinwoo
Height: 152cm/5'0
Birthday: 04/09
Mbti: Infp
Rank: A-rank (She Reawakens to S rank later on)
Affiliation: None
Type: Mage
Title: Lady of Bloodied Petals, Her Highness of the sea
Powers: Sacred Primordial Sea, Botanokinesis
Regression ୭ 🧷 ✧ ˚. ᵎᵎ 🎀
Job: Freelance Artist, youtube vlogger><
♡ Seul-ae is one of those cute cozy youtube vloggers who don't share their face and voice on the video. She often posts about her art process + daily diaries as well as showing off her cute outfits<3
♡ Her content is mostly: draw with me, ootd, mundane life things, cooking, walking in parks and taking pictures of flowers or anything she finds pretty
Personality ୭ 🧷 ✧ ˚. ᵎᵎ 🎀
♡ She's a very lovely and sweet girl, though she is very insecure and anxious. Seul-ae stutters in her words a lot and gets tired of conversations easily, leading her to tend to attempt ending conversations without the other person noticing. Of course, she is still polite and very attentive, she just gets drained very very fast.
♡ At first sight, people always mistake her as cold and distant but she is actually a sunshine type of girl. She just has a poker face most of the time^^;;
♡ Seul-ae often imitates people out of fear that she would offend them. She observes how the other people act and tries her best to blend in so that she won't be bullied. Her real personality is quite eccentric in a way that she can't talk about things she loves such as whales and sharks. She often suppresses that side of her so that she can avoid being an outcast. She used to be one of those weird kids who got bullied in elementary and got shaken to the point that she became a people-pleaser. Seul-ae is only comfortable with people she is close to and most especially Jinwoo. He is her safe space.
♡ Seul-ae is not an academic achiever, she is in fact very academically challenged and only has average grades of C and D minus her art subjects. She hates studying anything except for marine life in which she can get heavy detail in.
♡ In her hunter days, Seul-ae was known as one of the kindest and most warm hunters there is. She has fans whom she often interacts with kindly and respectfully. Though she doesn't work with any guild, high ranked hunters like Choi Jong-in often invite her to assist in their raids and she helps willingly even offers to not get paid^^.
Love Story with Jinwoo ୭ 🧷 ✧ ˚. ᵎᵎ 🎀
Their ties go way back to elementary. They have heard of each other but never really interacted. But from what Jinwoo knew, she was one of those eccentric and obnoxious girls who have such loud voices during recess. In middle school, she was known for her absolute avoidance of feminine things. In senior high where they officially meet as classmates, Jinwoo was shocked to find how much Seul-ae had changed in a not good way. She became a loner but was still polite and respectful. He even noticed her having anxious episodes and often avoided conversations with anyone. However, Seul-ae was well known for her artistic capabilities and often won in art contests, which she doesn't really seem to be proud of.
After graduating, they never met again until his E-ranked days. Seul-ae hasn't awakened yet, but when she saw how much Jinwoo suffers trying to work, she offered him what little money she had. Seul-ae often visits Jinwoo in his odd jobs outside of hunting and gives him free food to eat out of kindness. They lose touch for a bit since Jinwoo keeps disappearing. But after a year, Seul-ae became an S-ranker after experiencing double awakening who is also now well beloved, and Jinwoo followed right after her, ascending as shadow monarch this time.
Seul-ae was extremely happy to have met Jinwoo again and wouldn't stop talking to him enthusiastically which he found adorable. And eventually, the two started to date. They didn't really hide it nor did they announce it.
When Jinwoo regressed, he approached Seul-ae in senior high and courted her again before returning her memories with him.
Their trope is just sunshine x sunshine protector<3. I love this trope a lot heheh.

soft side • bbh [req]
req: okay so for baekhyun just like a cute husband!fluff, if you’re comfortable writing mafia au, you could make baekhyun like a mafia, but he gets super soft when he’s with oc
pairing: mafia!baekhyun x wife!reader
genre: fluff!
synopsis: baekhyun had a soft spot reserved for the reader.
warnings: sweet and soft baekhyun
you visit baekhyun a few times a week at his office. it’s never for anything special, but just because you want to see him. sometimes, you bring him food or a dessert you’ve made, but mostly you show up to see him.
today, you’re showing up to show him the nails he generously paid for, and to just check on him. he’s been stressed lately, coming home frustrated most days that when you hear the tires screech in the driveway you can already tell what mood he’s going to be in. you made him promise early in your relationship to leave his mob dealings where he found them, and to never bring them home to you. he’s kept his promise since then, dropping whatever frustrations he’s dealt with at work, at the door when he sees you perched on the couch waiting for him.
you hop out of your car and walk the short distance to the building he does his dealings in. from the outside, it looks like a plain office building, and on the ground floor there’s nothing eye catching except the door man, who isn’t really a doorman, and a simple end table by the elevators that has a new set of flowers on the table each week.
“hi, jongdae,” you say as you enter the building, pushing your sunglasses into your hair. he gives you a close lipped smile and tells you that you can find baekhyun in his office, where he is ninety percent of the time.
you press the elevator button and the doors slide open. stepping in, you press the ‘6’ button, the highest floor in the building and baekhyuns office.
you step out and hear him before you see him. “when i said everything goes through me, i meant everything!” it’s slightly muffled, but loud enough. it’s only you in the hallway, minus another man who appears to be watching the elevator, but really isn’t. “hi, minseok,” you say, giving him a small wave.
“hi, mrs. byun. he’s in there with somebody, if you want to wait,” he offers, but you never wait. you’re notorious for interrupting meetings, on purpose and accident.
you pass by minseok and make your way down the hall where baekhyuns voice gets louder and more audible. you frown at his words and tone, but push the door open anyway, his voice cutting out immediately. “hi, baby,” you say, not sparing a glance at the other guy. baekhyun visibly relaxes; his shoulders roll backwards and his chest goes flat, and his fists uncurl. the scowl on his face relaxes into a small smile, reserved for you and you only.
“you’re dismissed,” baekhyun barks, his eyes boring holes into the man across from him while his hands reach for you. the other guy quickly leaves, shutting the door behind him and letting you have baekhyun to yourself. “hi, pretty girl.” baekhyun says, pulling you into him and kissing you deeply.
you smile against him at the pet name and pull away, putting a hand on his cheek. “how are you?” you ask, and he pulls you down onto his lap, your legs dangling over the side.
baekhyun puts one arm around your waist while his other hand holds onto your exposed thighs. “i’m better now. let me see your nails,” he says, and you put a manicured hand in front of his face. he smiles and holds your hand, looking at every design on every nail. “they’re nice.” he compliments and you thank him.
“she did them a little too long, but i didn’t feel like arguing,” you say, admiring them for the 100th time since you got up from the chair. you look back down at baekhyun and find that he’s already looking at you, his eyes soft and his smile warm. “what?”
“i’m just… i just love you, that’s all,” he says, kissing underneath your jaw. you nuzzle closer to him and smile. nobody would ever believe baekhyun had a soft side like this, given his stern and hard exterior. he has walls built up that only you’ve managed to break down and expose the true him.
he has such a dangerous line of work, but he only has one weakness: you.

PS: I block empty blogs.
Chapter 11
Kyung Soo’s face begging her to take him out of there was hunting her.
It was the first time Anna saw him like that, and she wasn’t planning on letting him there suffer for much longer. So this meeting with Minseok, Sehun, and Chanyeol had to be the last one.
“If we are taking him out we can't just take him, we have to make it look like a kidnapping, make a huge deal about it, use it as a distraction,” Minseok said very seriously.
“For what?” Chanyeol asked, almost angry. Not with Minseok, but with everything. He and Sehun were filled with frustration since they couldn’t leave the Clan’s hideouts, unable to help anybody, especially their friend.
“So the Clan can start moving and also to bomb his uncle's reputation” The three of them looked at Minseok asking for more details.
“If Kyung Soo just disappears he could use it, say that he ran away, or straight up fake his death and take the crown, if we kidnap him he is going to have to explain some things to the Crown and at least they will look for him”
“I see, we are going to put him in a tight spot, I like that, me and Chanyeol will take care of it and Anna is in charge of kidnapping her boyfriend" She liked the idea, although at this point she would agree to any plan. Anna asked them the only thing she cared about now.
"When is this happening? " Minseok told them to prepare for that Friday.
That night, and the ones that followed, she visited Kyung Soo and shared with him their plan. His eyes shone and he promised that he would follow the rules, without asking for explanations.
Anna explained everything with details and made him repeat some important parts of the plan to check if he was paying attention.
"As long as you are with me we will be ok, but if we split for some reason you need to stay in the castle hidden, they are never going to search for you here, they are going to assume that we took you out" She told him holding his hand as soon as she notice how nervous he was.
"Who is going to help you?" He asked, offering both of his hands for her to hold.
"I was told that it's about time to tell you this, and it's going to be a lot, so interrupt me when you think it's needed because you have a question or it's just too much" Kyung Soo assured her that he was going to do so and also remain calm.
Anna spoke without interruptions about the Clan. Kyung Soo only listened and stared at her with his big round eyes.
"With your illness and your parents death the Order is currently in a malleable state, they could support you and wait for you or just choose your uncle as the next king, if that were to happen, the people would take the hardest part and the Clan would have to change the course of actions radically… your uncle has his own people, his own ideas and connections with other countries that could start a coup" Kyung Soo covered his face with his hands, breathing heavily.
"And if they chose me, what was the original plan? " He asked after calming himself down.
"You were going to start your own coup against the Order, with the support of the Clan"
"So a civil war?" Anna began repeating what Minseok said to her.
"The goal was always to create a citizen movement stronger than the crown and its army, use the least amount of confrontation between citizens…I think we are almost there, but things have to speed up, and we will see what kind of force is needed after we take you out of here"
"We can't avoid confrontation then" He commented with resignation.
"No we can't, but you know?  The Clan has gained so many followers… and even if they don't consider themselves as followers, the amount of people that's against the crown is the majority now, so I would say that we could have a short period of confrontation" Anna tried to inject some positivity in him.
"You think so?... But all these people resent me too. Why would they follow the Clan knowing I'm part of It " The sadness in his voice made her reach for his face and caress his cheeks softly.
"I wouldn't be so sure, people have always liked you, they think you are different from your family… I changed my mind after meeting you " She ended, feeling a bit shy.
Kyung Soo hid his face in her hand with a shy chuckle.
"Everything you say surprises me, but nothing seems strange, I'm taking it in with much ease"
"I've noticed it, I'm quite relieved " Silence fell upon them, a calm silence. Anna kept caressing his face and Kyung Soo rested a shy hand on her leg.
"I take your touch with much ease too" He teased.
"You definitely do"
"I have been dreaming with you a lot," Kyung Soo confessed, his eyes closed.
"Tell me about them" She invited him.
"You appeared in a room, covered in spider webs and with your feet wet, it was a big room covered with paintings, probably here in the castle. You said that Sehun told you to go there using the passages,  then… " Anna stopped him covering his mouth.
"Let me finish your story so you can see that it wasn't a dream but a memory" Anna told him how he helped her dry her feet, cleaned her hair and then trained her for the first time. His eyes kept growing bigger and bigger, nodding with her as she described his dream. As if she had been there.
Because she did.
As Anna said, it wasn't a dream, it was a memory.
"What about my other dreams, are those memories too?" Anna couldn't know, so she listened to the ones he remembered, and to their surprise, she knew all of them.
Kyung Soo heard the deaf noise of the two guards falling unconscious. And just a couple of seconds later, two guys appeared through his doors.
"Chanyeol? Sehun?" Kyung Soo called them, but regretted it immediately after seeing the excitement in the eyes of one of them.
"You remember us?" He asked, his eyes beaming.
"No he doesn't, Anna told her about us coming" The other tall man answered, stealing the words from his mouth.
"I don't remember you… " Kyung Soo tried to explain, but the same guy interrupted him.
"But you feel like you know us, we know, I'm Sehun, this is Chanyeol" He pointed at the guy behind him with a smile. The guy, Chanyeol, pushed Sehun to the side and threw himself onto Kyung Soo, hugging him tightly. Kyung Soo's arms circled his wide frame without thinking twice as he heard Chanyeol's quiet sob. He then saw over his friend's shoulder how Sehun cleaned his tears with the back of his hand and taking one long step he hugged them both. Despite how hard they were hugging him, Kyung Soo felt his chest filling up with air and something else.
Sehun was right,  he felt like he knew them. Kyung Soo had seen them in his dreams several times.
"Your majesty!" They heard from down the hall. They looked at each other and Kyung Soo felt a spark. A child-like excitement that was short lived as they noticed that the nurse was on her way.
"Now if you excuse me" Chanyeol told him with sudden urgency. He went behind him, put on his balaclava and gave him an arm lock as Sehun put on his own and took out a gun.  Kyung Soo took a deep breath, held onto Chanyeol's arm and began squirming and asking for help.
As soon as the nurse appeared at the door, Sehun held the gun to her head.
"We are taking him with us, but you can't come" And with a swift movement that made him almost gasp in awe, Sehun hit her in the back of the neck, making her pass out. He then grabbed her with one hand and threw her inside one of the empty closets.
"Let's go" He then said, as if nothing happened.
As Anna told him, Chanyeol and Sehun were going to be his kidnappers. They needed people who knew the castle, and although they weren't the only ones, they insisted on participating just so they could meet his friend sooner.
Chanyeol's grip around his neck was now around his shoulders as they went down the stairs. Sehun walked ahead,  checking the corners with his gun held tightly.  A noise bomb was set to explode in five minutes, so they had to be quick.
They were reaching the second floor when they heard the loud bang of the noise bomb. Two seconds later he felt the floor vibrating. He looked at his friends in fear, wondering what could be causing that movement.
"There they are," Chanyeol muttered as a group of around ten men appeared. His first instinct was to run, but he knew that he had to stay put. The ten men stopped in front of them, fully armed, with a serious expression, and standing very close to each other, forming a tight pack. Chanyeol grabbed Kyung Soo's arm and pushed him in front of the guards. Two of them took a step to the side and from between them a man appeared.
It was his decoy. Same eighth, hair, complexion and clothes. Even his face was similar to his. His double bowed at him and called his name with devotion. Kyung Soo did the same, thanking him for what he was doing.
They made the exchange. Kyung Soo left with the guards and his decoy with Chanyeol and Sehun.
"We will meet later" Sehun assured him after seeing the look on Kyung Soo's eyes.
The pack of guards dashed down the hall with him hidden between their massive bodies. When they reached a new set of stairs, they split into two groups. One went back to his room to play the part and check on the noise bomb. Kyung Soo's group went downstairs, to the service rooms, more specifically the kitchen. The four men that accompanied him took him inside an empty room and began changing clothes. They hid their uniforms inside backpacks and put on black clothing and balaclavas. One of the guards began pulling rifles from one of the closets and handed one to each of his companions.  They did everything in complete silence, only exchanging looks to communicate. Kyung Soo kept quiet, looking at them in amazement, wondering if he used to be like that. If he also knew how to hold a rifle like that.
" Your majesty, we are ready to go, I will be the one holding you,  so I hope you don't mind if… " Kyung Soo didn't let him finish and stood in front of him, giving him his back so he could hold him like Chanyeol did before. Although this guy was probably two times bigger than his friend.
"When you helped me train on sword fighting at the military, you held me like this once, I was fifteen back then and you were twenty, I was very small and skinny back then and you told me that someday I was going to get bigger, and here we are" The guard shared with him as they got ready to leave the room.  Kyung Soo was smiling for the first time that day. Because even if he didn't remember that, he felt an overwhelming fondness for this man. Before he could say anything, the men opened the door and took him out of the room. He began playing the part again, screaming and fighting his kidnappers.
They shot some bullets to the ceiling and people began coming out of their rooms. Butlers, guards, and maids. Kyung Soo noticed how they all reacted differently. He could split it between people who knew what was going on and people that didn't.
They walked into the kitchen because it was one of the few rooms that had a door that went into one of the castle's gardens. The only garden that had a passage directly into the forest behind the castle.
One of the guards walked ahead of them and was getting ready to kick the door open when one of the cooks stood in front of him holding her knife.
"Leave our king alone" She muttered between clenched teeth. Kyung Soo recognized her. She was his personal cook, the woman that had been feeding him since he was a baby, Nuni. That wasn't her name, but it was the name that his baby self gave her and it remained like that until now. Kyung Soo knew that the order was to get rid of whoever got in the way. So he begged his captors not to hurt her. They were taken aback by his reaction.
"Nuni, let us go, I will be alright! " He insisted. But she stayed put, still holding her knife with her tired hands.
"You heard him, we will take good care of him," The guard said, hovering over her. She held his stare, then looked at Kyung Soo and then back at the guard.
"If something happens to him, I will skin you and feed you to the Order" Nobody laughed. The guard nodded at her, looking less threatening, and pushed her to the side. Kyung Soo told her again that he was going to be fine as they dragged him outside the castle.
"That was unexpected, " Commented the guard holding him. Kyung Soo couldn't answer, still shocked.
As they walked into the garden, they began hearing shoots on the wing of the castle just above them. They quickened their steps until they reached a small hut that could be turned down by a soft gust of wind.  Two men walked inside lifting an iron coffin with a lot of effort. Then a third guy got to his knees and with one punch of his fist destroyed the small wooden door under the coffin. His captor grabbed him by the arms and quickly shoved him down the hole with little care. He could barely register the fall,  from one second to the other he was on the hard and damp floor of the passage, with a pungent pain in his palms.
He heard quick steps approaching him and soon a light shone in his face.
"Kyung Soo!" His body recognized the voice before his brain could, relaxing immediately and forgetting about the pain. Anna turned off the flashlight and helped him get up. Before he could regain balance, he threw himself to her, hugging her tightly, taking in her scent.
"Anna, you did it, you really got me out of there" His raspy voice whispered into her ear.
"Kyung Soo, Do you remember me?" Anna asked, surprised by his hug and the passion in his voice, hopeful that all this had brought back something, anything.
"No, I haven't, I'm so sorry,  but please hug me" Anna circled his waist with her arms and his relief brought tears to his eyes.
“My head can't fully remember you yet, but the rest of my body does, so please keep holding me" Anna felt his hands rubbing her back and his lips caressing her jaw and neck. He was holding her with such enthusiasm that he lifted Anna off her feet, making her giggle. Her carefree laugh and her touch made something click in his head. That same muscle memory that knew how she felt between his arms and against his skin made him realize how much he needed to kiss her. And now that he could finally savor freedom, he wanted to mix that taste with her kisses.
He held her face, resting his forehead gently on hers. She was looking at him with glassy eyes, her lips forming an adorable pout. Anna felt as if her heart had stopped beating, in comparison to how fast and hard it beat as she waited for Kyung Soo in the damp passage. Now all that seemed very distant and the only thing that mattered to her was him holding her and looking at her like that. She felt him running his fingers through her ponytail, making her close her eyes as a hot shiver ran down her back. Kyung Soo reached for her face cautiously, testing her reaction and his. Although it was clear to him that he wanted this, he needed this.  He held her chin and gently tilted it up until her lips were centimeters away from his. Anna stared into Kyung Soo's deep gaze. Her right hand searched for his, interlocking their fingers as she moved closer. Kyung Soo released a short sigh, before taking a deep breath and closing the distance between them.
Kyung Soo's lips stroked hers slowly at first, testing Anna's response and his. But that didn't last. It was the softness of her lips and the taste of her mouth that made him hold her tighter and deepened the kiss. Anna threw her arms around his shoulders and almost climbed him as she answered the kiss. Kyung Soo always kissed as if it was the last time. And he was kissing her like that. Like he knew that she was his. They quickly melted into each other, her fingers tangled in his hair, as Kyung Soo touched her through her thick wool jacket. In the distance she heard a noise, a low cough, or something of the sort. Then Kyung Soo's name was called by a deep voice. It became insistent enough that she had to break the kiss and push Kyung Soo away.
"Your majesty, Anna, you need to start moving" Kyung Soo's ears went red and Anna covered her mouth in embarrassment. The guys that brought Kyung Soo to her were still there, giving them some privacy by not looking, but they could hear everything.
"I'm so sorry, thank you for your work, we will see you later." She thanked them again, grabbed Kyung Soo's hand, and pulled him into the depths of the dark passage.
They walked for around thirty minutes until Anna stopped in front of an iron stair. At the end of it, he could see the square metal door that indicated the end of the second part of the plan. And so far everything worked perfectly.
Anna led the way again, climbing the stairs and opening the door with one strong push. The bright light made him look away with discomfort.
“I’m going to go first to see if there’s any problem, don’t go out until I come back” He nodded and took a step back to give her space so she could move.
She came back 5 minutes later, although for Kyung Soo it felt like an hour.
He came out of the passage feeling overwhelmed by the amount of green under his feet and the cold wind messing with his hair. Around them, there was a forest with tall trees and bushes spread here and there. The only noise they could hear was the wind, no cars, no people. He couldn’t even see the castle.
Next to him, Anna was doing her part. As he was amazed by the nature that he could finally see after months, she was taking a radio out of her backpack. She turned it on, jolting at the loud static noise, and quickly found the channel to communicate with the people on the other side.
“This is queen, my partner is here, any news? over” Again static and then a click.
“Everything is moving, there are currently four groups moving and searching for the three decoys we send and Kyung Soo so be careful, get out of there as soon as you can, over”
“Understood, over” Anna turned off the radio and searched for Kyung Soo. He was staring at the passage door with attention. She called his name and he brought a finger to his lips.
“I think there’s someone in the passages” He whispered. Anna stood next to him and sharpened her ear.
A rhythmic sound and some grunts, whatever it was it was getting closer. And it couldn't be good.
Anna took off her backpack and searched for the one thing she knew would help them. Kyung Soo’s eyes grew three times bigger when he saw Anna pull a hand grenade from her backpack. She got on her knees at the edge of the entrance and with expert hands she pulled the trigger and threw the grenade inside the passage. They had 10 seconds to run away and avoid any mishap. Kyung Soo grabbed her hand and pulled her up, running away, avoiding trees and jumping over rocks. They stopped when they heard the explosion throwing themselves to the floor and covering their heads.
The explosion only lifted some dust and made the floor shiver, but the shouts from the guards in the passage as they saw the grenade coming at them were loud and clear.
Anna just closed her eyes and thought about the greater good.
When she was finally ready to open them, Kyung Soo was staring at her with wonder, but also a lot of worries.
“It’s your first time doing this?” He whispered.
“It is,” She confessed after a couple of breaths.
“I’m sorry you had to do this because of me” He said as he held her hand.
“I would do it a hundred times and more if necessary, let’s keep moving” She held onto his hand and got up, following the planned path to get out of the forest.
When they reached the highway, Anna looked at her clock, checking if they were right on time. Just two minutes ahead of schedule. Their surroundings were silent too, Kyung Soo suspected they were on the highway behind the hill that surrounded the castle. He was shocked by the fact that he knew that information. He was still not sure of how much memory he had lost.
“The truck is going to be here in a minute, remember to pay attention to the sound, if we can’t hear the squealing from the pigs, we need to hide '' Anna instructed him as she changed her backpack from her back to her chest. Kyung Soo closed his eyes and did as Anna instructed. He counted the seconds in his head, and just when he was reaching fifty-nine, he heard one loud squeal. He could also hear Anna celebrate with a curse.
The truck approached them at a low speed, flickering its lights. The noise of the pigs was now louder than its engine, as the smell.
“It’s going to be a short ride, don’t worry” Anna assured him as if sensing his worry.
The truck stopped, and they climbed the door, jumping onto the back, and falling between the smelly pigs. They moved to the front, avoiding the grumpier pigs, and settled there. Anna took the radio from her back and turned it on.
“We are on the truck, over” Static noise.
“There are guards at the bypass, do as planned, if it doesn’t work, he knows that he has to drive past them, over” Anna took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and answered.
“Understood, over” And she turned off the radio.
As they said, there were guards at the bypass. Before them, two cars waited for their control. Anna and Kyung Soo slid down the wall of the truck and lay on the floor hidden by the pigs. The smell was so strong that she had to hide her face on her arm, trying to isolate her nose. It was useless, but it helped her focus. They couldn’t hear what was happening. The truck moved slowly ahead and then stopped. The pigs complained, and time passed. They were stuck for around five minutes until the truck engine woke up again with a loud roar. Anna turned on the radio again.
“Safe?, over” Just a second passed until they answered.
“Safe, see you in an hour, over” Static noise again.
They kept quiet, sitting down, already used to the smell. Anna kept checking her clock, the anxiety didn’t leave, even when knowing they were safe now. She wasn’t going to rest until Kyung Soo crossed the doors of the old parliament. There was still danger, and her senses were all focused on catching any sign of it.
Kyung Soo kept quiet, to not disturb Anna’s focus and to be a little help too. He kept looking through the slits between the wood of the back of the truck. He knew how the old parliament looked, he could even remember some rooms from the inside. From behind a thick wall of trees, he could finally see it. Anna gasped at the sight and held his hand tighter.
“We are almost there” She whispered, smiling brightly.
The closer they got to their destination, the scarier it got. At any time a car from the Order could appear behind them, they could even meet them at the doors of the Clan hideouts. Too many things were at risk, and it would be their fault. Anna wished she was the only one feeling that burden.
The truck stopped and the driver got off. He dashed to the back of the truck and pulled the doors open with a single pull.  This was probably the first time she felt so happy to see Junmyeon, and she let him know.
“Right back at you Anna, Kyung Soo, I’m so glad to see you again, I’ll tell you who I am later, let’s move, Minseok is waiting for us” Kyung Soo bowed at him, looking uncertain and followed Anna as she began to move.
They ran across the abandoned highway behind the parliament and reached the gates. Anna took the key from her boot and opened them, closing behind. Every opened door had to be closed.
As soon as they got inside the abandoned building, Kyung Soo commented on how he was familiar with it. There was excitement in his voice, which made her and Junmyeon smile. He followed them down the main hall, having a weird feeling of knowing where they were going. When Junmyeon opened one tall wooden door, he gasped in surprise, making him jolt.
“Minseok, you son of a bitch, you scared me, I thought we were meeting down there” Kyung Soo saw a man approaching, meeting them halfway. He shook Junmyeon’s hand and patted Anna’s shoulder before approaching him.
“It’s great to have you here Kyung Soo, I’m Minseok '' He held his hand up and Kyung Soo shook it without hesitation.
“Anna told me a lot about you, I hope our memories come back to me soon” Kyung Soo saw the sadness in his friend's eyes, so he smiled calmly to show him that he was better than they thought. Anna was the one who brought them back to the urgent matter and hurried them to keep moving. They went inside the service bathroom. Junmyeon pushed the elegant closet to the side, exposing the black metal door. She opened the lock and they got inside the tunnel with Minseok leading the way with his flashlight. She waited for Kyung Soo and locked arms with him, knowing how cold that path was, sicking for warmth and hopefully giving him some.
When they entered the main hall, Kyung Soo gasped loudly. Walking around and sitting on different surfaces there were around 100 people showing different levels of worry.
They were all waiting for him.
Everybody stopped what they were doing and slowly approached them. Minseok was the first one to talk.
“Everything went according to the plan, we will have time to talk tomorrow, as for now, we should let Kyung Soo rest, it was a long and tiresome day” Everybody agreed. But one of the assistants, their teacher from university, walked to the front and spoke for the crowd.
“Your majesty, welcome home, can we greet you?”
Kyung Soo looked at Anna nervously. He wanted to greet them, thanking them for being there, but he still felt as if he didn’t quite deserve the attention and reverence he received from them. Anna circled his waist, smiling at him, bumping his hip with hers playfully. The warmth he felt coming from her was the support he needed to greet everybody and thank them in some way for the hardship they go through just to accompany him.
He spent about an hour doing so. Everybody introduce themselves as if it was the first they were meeting, although he knew it wasn’t. Anna stayed next to him the whole time. She clearly knew all of them, and with the information he had about the Clan and his involvement with it, he felt overjoyed by the fact that she had involved herself so perfectly with all of them.
Minseok had a filling meal prepared for them at his office. But first, their friend made them change into clean clothes to get rid of the pig's smell. Kyung Soo was excited to talk to him. He wished Sehun and Chanyeol were there with them, but they had to end their part of the plan, so they would be back tomorrow morning. It was almost midnight, the food was gone and Kyung Soo was feeling the stress of the night turning into tiredness. The chat with his friend helped him calm down the adrenaline, but everything felt very strange still. Good strange, though. He was out of that prison. No nurse injecting him and causing him pain. He could move, do what he wanted, speak whenever he wanted. He didn’t have to listen to his uncle's horrible comments anymore, he was out of danger now and Anna was with him. She didn’t have to walk those cold and spider-infested passages anymore to see him. She wasn’t speaking to him in whispers just so the guards outside his room couldn’t hear them. She was laughing freely now, speaking loudly. He didn’t know how long this new calm would last, but he was going to enjoy it.
Minseok was considerate enough to ask Anna to guide Kyung Soo to his room. Room that in the last months had become her room. She always kept it clean and tidy, knowing that he would be back someday. She walked him down the hall, holding his hand and sending him loving looks as he asked random questions about the Clan’s building. She felt almost suffocated by happiness.
Anna walked him inside his room and gave him time to look around. The way he walked around his bedroom reminded her of how she inspected his room the first time she visited it. He stared at the books, the paintings, he touched the furniture and the fabrics around him. He stopped at the wall covered with photos. Like Anna back then, he probably didn’t recognize most of the people there, but he was still smiling. Her tummy shivered when Kyung Soo set his eyes on their picture.
“I like how you look in your uniform” He commented, taking the picture from the wall and bringing it to give it a closer look. She stood next to him, still having that fuzzy feeling when looking at that photo and how sweet Kyung Soo looked passing an arm around her shoulders, kissing her cheek.
“If I ever had a doubt about what you said about us, now that doubt it’s completely gone,” He said with a chuckle. She only rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes.
They sat on the bed staring at the photo wall, with Kyung Soo pointing at faces asking for names or telling her how much he remembered about them. It wasn’t a lot, but he knew some things, like names, or specific events that she couldn’t corroborate if they were accurate or not. She promised him that they would ask Minseok tomorrow.
Kyung Soo began talking about their day, saying and asking what he couldn’t say as they made their escape.
“I bet you were nervous and thinking about this nonstop,” She told him playfully after they went over the last bit of their day, the dinner with Minseok.
“I was nervous, but to be honest, I was thinking about you, worried about you, nervous about what you had to do, watching everything you did. In my lockdown what I did the most was think about you” His voice didn’t show any shyness, but his ears were red.
“You have been thinking about me?” She whispered close to his face.
“Yeah,” He turned his head, moving closer to her, but not meeting her eyes.
“What kind of thinking?” She kept digging.
“The kind where I have to control myself” He finally met her eyes, dark and big, pulling her in.
“Kiss me, love” She ordered him, climbing on his lap as he grabbed her face, kissing her before she could finish her sentence. The way Kyung Soo touched her hadn’t changed. His hand followed a pattern that was familiar to her. Grabbing her waist pulling her closer, holding to her hips and rubbing her thighs and back. Then repeat until he grew frustrated with the clothes between his hands and her skin. His passion turned into desperation quickly. He was a bit hard and rough, biting her lower lip and sucking on the skin of her chin and neck. She moaned as his hands slid up her chest, holding her head by the nape.
"Kyung Soo, are you sure you want to do this?" She asked him, driven by consideration for her boyfriend who was currently recovering from a memory loss and a very traumatic experience. But Kyung Soo didn't answer and kept kissing her face and neck. She insisted once again, but she got the same answer from him. At least she had the consideration, she thought to herself, as she pulled his sweater off.
"Kyung Soo I’ve missed you so much" She whispered desperately, against his lips, kissing his cheeks and forehead.
"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry" He hugged her, hiding his guilty face on her chest. She hated seeing him like this, apologizing when he was the victim. She grabbed his face and made him look at her.
"Don’t! Come here” She had to grab him harder as he insisted on lowering his head.
“You are never leaving my side again, understood?” He nodded, kissing the palm of her hand.
“We will stay together from now on,” She promised.
“Yes Anna” He kissed her other hand.
“And we will achieve everything we want, not tonight though, tonight we will only think about us, ok?” Kyung Soo giggled, that childish laugh that put the first seed of love in her heart.
She pushed him onto the bed and climbed on top of him, trapping him under her body, kissing his cheeks and neck taking in his delicious scent and the warmth of his skin. Kyung Soo’s grunts and sighs of pleasure were interrupted by a question.
“Have I ever had you like this before?” He saw it a couple of times in dreams, but he never trusted those blindly.
“Yes, a couple of times” She confessed, looking at his curious eyes.
“I hate that I can't remember it” He cursed with frustration, and Anna understood it, but that was not the mood she needed at that moment.
“Don't worry, you will” And to fully bring him back to the moment, she sat up and took off her flannel.
He opened his mouth and eyes wide in adorable shock. His hands reached for her naked waist, slowly, flinching when he could finally touch her.
"You so familiar to me, I can't find you in my memory if I try, but just now when I touched you, I knew it wasn't the first time" He moved his hands up and shyly caressed the edge of her bra.
"It's okay, you can't see what we had, they made you hide it in your memories, but you can't forget me, who I am in essence, what we did, the way I felt on your hands and lips,  there are some things you can't forget Kyung Soo, focus on bringing them back” His hands settled on her waist as Anna moved her waist slowly, out of reflex. Kyung Soo closed his eyes as his hands moved down her thighs and then up again, briefly rubbing her center with his thumb.
Anna moaned softly, holding to his forearms.
“Please tell me that you remember some of me” She begged.
“I can't... I try but I can't” There was some despair in his voice. She felt terribly bad for him, guilty for telling him that,  but she never let sadness or frustration be useless, so she used those feelings to fuel her will and do something about it. She was the only one who could help him remember her.
“Then come here,  I'm going to make you remember” Anna grabbed Kyung Soo’s clueless face and brought him to her. Making him sit on the bed, having him close to her face and chest.
“You liked it when I touched your chest,  you said it gave you a burning feeling” She caressed down his neck with the tip of her fingers and then placed her hands on his warm chest.
“And this was your favorite” She held his chin and turned his face to the right making her way to his neck. He closed his eyes in pleasure, hugging her waist and hiding his face on her shoulder.
“I know those things can't be erased from your head, they are imprinted on your skin” She whispered on his neck making him grunt. Emboldened by his reactions and by the delight of touching her man like this, she pulled off his sweatshirt.
“Can you feel it?” She hugged him, rubbing his shoulders and taking in the warmth of his chest.
“I.. think I do” He chuckled, kissing her chin.
“Good, touch here, you said you loved it” She pulled down her bra ignoring the gasp he released, and put his hand on top of her breast.
“Touch it, please, touch me” Kyung Soo did as told, calling her name and immediately taking his other hand to her chest.
“My head can’t place the moment I did this, but it feels so intimate and ours, everything about you feels like that, I touched this skin before” He dropped a chaste kiss between her breasts and what was meant to be a single kiss turned into a mission covering every inch of her chest with his kisses.
“Yes you did,  several times” She moaned. holding his head to her chest.
“And the first time you broke into my room, I could recognize your smell,” He said between kisses.
“It was a gift from you”
“I can't place you in my memories, but I recognize everything” He repeated.
“Because we loved each other, we still do,” She told him, staring into his eyes.
“We do, I do,” He confessed, catching her by surprise. Even if he didn’t remember, she had managed to catch him and dig herself into his heart again.
Kyung Soo picked her up, throwing her on the bed and settling his body in between her legs. He got comfortable, holding her down, planning on staying for a while there, touching, kissing, and grabbing onto this body that was one of the few things he could recognize. But not only her body. Anna’s scent and whimpers, the way she touched him and hugged him, inviting Kyung Soo to touch and kiss her more didn’t feel new, he recognized all of them, which didn’t make it less exciting and arousing.
As Kyung Soo sucked on her collarbone, rocking his hips into her, Anna reached for him, craving his lips as she thought about every single night that she spent lying awake on that same bed, loving him and missing him.
His bottom lip dragged on the skin of her face, dropping kisses on her nose, eyelids, and forehead. Anna’s hand reached down his back and did their best to pull Kyung Soo’s pants down, but his belt didn’t allow her to do so. Her insistence made him chuckle, distracting him from worshiping her. He kneeled down between her legs and undo his belt as she unbuttoned her jeans. She lifted her hips and pulled them off, kicking Kyung Soo in the process. Between shy laughs, Kyung Soo got up and got rid of his pants, and as soon they were gone he came back to his previous position, jumping into Anna’s wide-open arms.
He stopped for a second before kissing her again, his eyes darting all over her face.
“You are so beautiful” He whispered, closing his eyes as Anna caressed his cheek. “And so brave, smart, loving, and… dangerous” She laughed loudly, the feeling of her chest vibrating under him with laughter was divine.
“Is it because I threw that grenade? Or the whole kidnapping thing?” She asked, cleaning her tears.
“All of you, I just wonder what would happen to me If I wasn’t on your side, or if you used all that dedication to hurt me”
“Lucky you, I used that determination to take you away from there and make you fall in love with me again” Her answer hit him like a brick. He forgot to add that he loved her confidence too. All the words he could say got stuck in his throat. As his eyes focused on her half-open mouth, a flickering image came to his head, blurry but with clear words. Clear enough for him to repeat them.
“I can put my life in your hands, I've done it a couple of times now” She recognized those words as hers.
“I did so once, and I still do” Anna whispered in his ear as he leaned down to hug her. Kyung Soo followed the line of her jaw with the tip of his nose, dropping kisses on his way.  She caressed and scratched his back softly, whispering his name, the more he kissed her the louder she got.
Despite how she needed more from him, of how he wanted it harder from him, she was getting intoxicated by his touch, his smell, his warmth, and the weight of his body on top of her. Anna opened her legs wider so she could rub herself against his thigh, holding him down by the ass.
Kyung Soo grunted in her mouth, as he pressed his tongue against hers. Seeing his need reciprocated by her, made him feel euphoric. He got rid of his underwear and hers, almost tearing them apart.  Anna tried to close her legs out of reflex. but Kyung Soo held them open, staring at her already wet center with admiration. He reached for her with wandering hands, touching her, covering his fingers with her wetness, and spreading it along her lower lips.
She covered her mouth, trying to quiet down her loud moans. Kyung Soo didn’t stop, he wanted louder moans. Slowly, he shoved one finger inside her, so softly that she almost didn’t feel it. He laid down next to her, pillowing her head with his arm. His right hand began rubbing circles on her clit, and then went lower, penetrating her with two fingers. He moaned in her ear, hugging her closer, as she tightened around his fingers. She called his name and he answered by dropping kisses along her jaw.
She reached down, wanting to touch him too, to hear him and arouse him. She dragged the back of her hand against his hard-on. The touch was soft, almost fleeting, but it still made him groan. She wanted to touch him more, more intently, to reciprocate his attention, but Kyung Soo didn’t have the strength to stretch this anymore. Because as he told her before, he has been thinking about her, the kind of thought where he had to control himself. There was something about Anna, about what they were, that clearly wasn’t just saved in his memory. His whole body called for her, her nude body, her moans, and her pleasure.
He peeled his underwear quickly, apologizing for the rush, although Anna didn’t need explanations. She grabbed him by the waist as soon as he was fully naked and brought him to her. Anna’s hands slid around, sinking into the full cheeks of his ass, grabbing hard and with need. Kyung Soo giggled adorably, and she kissed his smile, cheeks, and nose as he positioned comfortably between her legs.
She felt the tip of his dick poking her entrance, making her shiver in anticipation. Her hands went from his ass to his shoulders, allowing him to enter her more comfortably for both of them.
Kyung Soo moved his body to the side, grabbing his member and rubbing it up and down her slit. Anna begged for him, kissing his lips as she tangled her fingers in his hair.  She felt him sliding inside her slowly, carefully, and lovingly as always. Anna let him do everything, she wanted to feel owned by him. She released a sigh of relief when he entered her. Relieved that her body still remembered him and that once again he was back in her arms.
He looked down at their bodies, thrusting once as a response to the excitation that it caused him. His eyes scanned up her body, his mouth open in awe. Anna grabbed his face, begging him for a kiss and lifting her hips to have him closer and deeper inside her. Kyung Soo filled her ears with words of love and adoration, making her blush with his devotion. As Anna hugged him tighter and caressed his body, his mind kept flashing images, random flashes of her, of them. Scenes that didn't feel like dreams. But above all that, there was Anna, completely new to him, but not a stranger. He loved her, that was clear. And he was crazy for her.
Anna looked back at him with glassy eyes. Her mouth opened with pleasure, caressing his back and groping the places she liked. He could tell that she knew his body probably better than himself. He liked how she wanted him and how honest she was about it, because he felt the same, and he felt like it was burning him.
Anna moved her hips searching for more. Although she loved having her boyfriend nice and slow, she was still shocked about how everything unraveled.  Despite how positive she was and how hard she worked to get him back, she was always scared that Kyung Soo would be gone forever. But he wasn’t. He was there with her like always. The same kisses, the same hugs and caresses. The same passion, want and love. Even when she wasn’t a clear memory in his brain. That always gave her a bit of confidence, how she managed to make him look at her again. Feel for her again.
She grabbed him by the nape and brought him closer so she could kiss him hard, latching her lips over his lower lip, sucking hard. They both moaned at the same time, desperately curving their bodies into the other.
Anna bent her knees and Kyung Soo quickly grabbed hold of her legs, thrusting quicker. He was surprised at how greedy his heart was, how primal were his needs.
Anna thought she was going insane, with everything Kyung Soo was doing to her and the way he muffled his moans in the crock of her neck. She felt his encouraging and loving words running down her body, enveloping her. With each thrust and every kiss, she felt closer and closer to her orgasm. And as much as she wanted to make this moment last, she knew it was impossible.
Kyung Soo’s grip on her thighs grew tighter and the kisses on her shoulder turned into soft bites. She captured him between her legs, asking for harder and deeper thrusts. He complied, bucking his hips only a couple of times before she felt her orgasm wash over her. The way her body reacted made him reach his own climax enhancing her pleasure.
His body felt on top of her, his hips still moving, but softer. She couldn’t stop kissing his lips, even when it was hard to breathe for both. A hint of a smile played on Kyung Soo’s lips as he looked at her. Although she wanted to tell him how much she loved him and how incredible he was and just make him blush with her devotion, she was out of words. He gently rubbed her neck, tucking her hair behind her ear and kissing her cheek.
He rolled to the side to lay next to her and caressed her face again before passing out as soon as he closed his eyes. She covered her mouth quietening her giggles and went out of bed to fetch a towel and clean them both. Kyung Soo didn’t wake up as she cleaned him, nor when she accommodated him in the bed and covered him with the duvet.
Anna went to sleep a little bit later. Taking advantage of his sleeping state she kissed every inch of his cute face before resting.
The next morning,  Kyung Soo didn’t wake up.

|| Ch. 48: Closure ||
Nothing makes sense to Jungkook anymore. Everything he thought he knew has been shattered and he’s left in a void of confusing numbness.
He’s more than relieved to know that he’s not in trouble for Minseok’s actions. Being placed on leave was only for his safety and, now that he knows, he appreciates the King looking out for him.
Then his mind switches to pure confusion when he thinks of the King and his mom’s relationship. He knew they were friends, both families had been friends a long time. However he had no idea how close of friends they truly were.
Sunyoung finally sat down with Jungkook and explained the nature of her relationship with the King. They grew up together spending their younger years going to the same school and continuing to hang out with each other after they had finished school. Sunyoung knew the entire family before they were royals and the only reason why Minseok became the King’s “best friend” was through Sunyoung. In reality, Sunyoung is the King’s true best friend, basically his older sister and that’s why the King treats Jungkook almost as his own son.
Sunyoung used her ability to cover the King with protection after his father was killed. This, along with the King paying for and taking care of everything she needs including her home are the two best kept secrets that they’re only just now telling anyone about. They continued to take care of each other over the years without a soul knowing.
When she finally made the decision to leave Minseok and leave the palace, it was the most difficult thing she had to do. Her best friends and her family were all there and she’d be leaving to be on her own with no one. If it weren’t for the King she wouldn’t have anywhere to go. He even wrote a recommendation for her so she could get a good job. The only thing that made leaving her sons a little easier is the King vowing to continue looking after them. He wasn’t able to change Junghyun’s mind about moving out, but he still takes care of any and everything he needs while he’s living with Yoongi’s brother.
Another thing Jungkook needed answers for is Sunyoung’s power. It already blows his mind that his power comes from her in the first place, but he wants to know the full extent of her power. In exchange he revealed the full extent of his power to both her and Luna. It was a very enlightening and positive conversation.
Sunyoung left and returned home once the King was convinced that she wasn’t going to do anything that would get her in trouble. Luna and Jungkook remain at their temporary home as the operation into closing her portal is still going on. However, unlike before, they both feel much less on edge. Knowing Minseok is locked up and Jungkook is definitely not going to lose his job, they’ve been able to breathe a bit easier.
It’s been three days since the King came to tell them what was really going on. Jungkook says he’s ok now that everything has been resolved, but Luna doesn’t believe him. He dreams about Minseok. At times he’ll completely disconnect from everything and sit in a trance if something makes him think of Minseok. It happens multiple times a day. Luna knows he’s not truly ok. Not until he faces his feelings about his father.
The two of them are on the couch enjoying music after their dinner. Jungkook’s head is resting across Luna’s lap while she runs her fingers through his hair. Something that always comforts him when his mind wanders to things he doesn’t want to think of. Like Minseok. He tries to block it out, but Luna already caught a glimpse of him replaying the last conversation he had with Minseok in his head.
“Babe,” Luna says softly.
“Hm?” He hums still enjoying the feeling of her fingers tangled in his curly locks.
“Do you want to talk to him?”
“No,” he answers not needing to ask who she’s talking about.
“Don’t you want answers or some type of closure?”
“No,” he repeats.
“Jungkook-“
“No.”
“But you can’t stop thinking about him, I know you want some answers.”
“Can you not snoop on my memories?” He asks sitting up.
“Do you want me to pet you or not?”
He scrunches his face and pouts at her in displeasure. Yes he wants her to pet him. It feels good and he loves it. But he doesn’t want her trying to get him to face things he doesn’t want to face. He knows he’s being stubborn, he just wishes she would let him.
“I don’t want to talk to him,” he sighs. “I don’t need closure, I already got it when my mom confronted him.”
“That doesn’t count,” Luna says rolling her eyes. “You weren’t there and you weren’t able to get the answers that you know you want.”
“I feel like I may lose my job and my freedom if I confronted him.”
“Your mom was able to do it without getting in trouble, so can you. I’m sure she has many more reasons to turn him to dust and yet she was able to confront him and leave him alive.”
“I’m not my mom.”
“Then who are you? Your dad?”
“No,” he scoffs offended. “I don’t have a dad and I’m nothing like him.” The thought alone boils him inside, and no matter how much he tries to deny it, he’s still very much like his father in some ways.
Like the way he wants to rage right now just thinking of it. His father would rage without a second thought. Jungkook hates that. At one point in his life he was afraid of that. He’s been trained to keep his rage inside, and so he always has. At this point he has so much rage backed up in him that he has no doubt his power would kill Minseok and anyone within a 25 mile radius.
“I don’t know how she did it all of those years,” he whispers. “Holding it in is not good, so how could she just…” he trails off in thought.
“Ask her,” Luna encourages. “I’m sure she’d tell you so that you can maintain your temper the way she does.”
“I can’t believe you’re the one trying to give me advice about controlling my temper,” he chuckles.
“What are you trying to say?” She snaps.
“Nothing, LuLu,” he teases.
“If you want temper I’ll give it to you,” she growls through her teeth.
“You already do,” he giggles. “But really,” his voice turns stern. “I don’t want to talk to him. There’s nothing I want to say to him and nothing he says will change where he is.”
“If you say so,” she says knowing he’s lying.
He’s definitely lying. Each day that passes he wants more and more to confront Minseok. He knows he won’t be able to hold back when he sees him, so he needs advice from the only person who can give it.
After 4 and a half seemingly long weeks since the start of the operation, Luna’s portal is officially closed. There were no other lost Saakhan members left behind. The place was combed from top to bottom where they found much more evidence of their operations. Meanwhile, another team had the task of building a new, secure, and official portal between there and the kingdom. Everyone returned safely and Jungkook and Luna were taken back to the palace.
Jungkook is officially on duty again and he couldn’t be happier. The first thing he does upon returning is go see Jin, Namjoon, and Taehyung. They were the ones Jungkook couldn’t communicate with and though he may not openly admit it, he missed them.
Luna is also relieved, though it’s short lived when she realizes her job assignment has ended. She’s back to having nothing to do during the day and no source of income. It becomes more stressful when the day after they returned to the palace she learned that she got accepted into the law school she applied to when she was drunk with Jimin. She doesn’t want to say anything though because she’s sure she won’t be able to go. She closes out of the email congratulating her and says nothing of it. Even with a new job she wouldn’t have near enough saved by the time the term starts.
Jungkook had been keeping up with everything surrounding Minseok’s case. Shortly after returning to the palace he had to do an official interview with investigators to tell his side of things. It was a long and exhausting interview but in the end the only thing Jungkook could think about is how his mother is able to contain her anger and rage so well. Having to relive the moments with his father made him nearly lose himself a few times. After that grueling interview he knew he needed to talk to his mom.
A week after being back on duty, Jungkook wakes up early in the morning and immediately leaves to go to his mother’s house. He knows she normally wakes up early so he isn’t worried about waking her. Just as he expected he walks into the house and Sunyoung is in the kitchen preparing breakfast for herself.
“Don’t tell me you’re already in some type of trouble again,” she says when she notices him coming through the door.
“No,” he chuckles. “I just wanted to ask you something.”
“Oh?” She points to the chair at the kitchen table and pours him a cup of coffee. “What’s that?”
“How do you deal with your rage?” He asks cutting straight to the chase. “How do you want to kill him one second but still leave him alive in the end?”
“Are you having a hard time keeping yours contained?” She asks sitting across from him at the table.
“Well I haven’t done anything, but it’s getting harder,” he sighs. “You know the news said they found letters between him and his Saakhan partner? He’s really been doing this right under everyone’s noses. Fucking dishonorable trash.”
“Tokki,” Sunyoung says softly.
“How did you not kill him?” He asks again. “I want to make him suffer in the worst ways but I know I can’t do that. I can’t hold it in either, it’s not good. How do you do it?”
“I find ways of getting my revenge without causing a scene. Unleashing your rage doesn’t always have to be seen or felt by everyone else.” She takes a sip of her coffee and smiles. “I may not have killed him that day, but his clock is ticking.”
“What?” He asks tilting his head. “What did you do?”
“I kept my promise. And by now I know he’s feeling it.”
“Mom,” Jungkook raises his brow. “What did you do??”
“Your father enjoys attention. Everything has to be seen and felt by all. That’s not how I operate. My anger is only directed towards one person so I make sure that’s the only person who feels that wrath. Your father is-“
“Mom,” Jungkook interrupts. His face is twisted in displeasure and he shakes his head. “Please don’t call him that,” he says softly. “I have no father.”
Sunyoung nods in understanding. It had been a habit since the boys were born to say “your father” when talking to them about Minseok. After all of these years she simply forgot that she does it. To Jungkook, hearing Minseok being referred to as his father is like nails on a chalkboard. The pride he has for his job and his kingdom, and especially the royal family, makes him want nothing associating him with Minseok.
“I understand,” Sunyoung nods. “What I’m saying though, is you have to find ways to unleash your rage in ways that won’t put others in danger. You know yourself best, so what you do is your choice. Hojin calls me silent but deadly because he knows how I like to operate,” she smirks.
“Silent but deadly?” Jungkook thinks a moment trying to work out what that truly means.
“Let me show you.” Sunyoung gets up and grabs an apple off the counter then sits back down. She places the apple on the table in front of him. “What could you do to this apple that wouldn’t affect anything else around it?”
“I don’t know,” he shrugs. “I could set it on fire, but it might burn the table.”
“Get creative, Tokki. You know what you’re capable of, if nothing you can do will work then use your environment to your advantage.” She picks up the apple and holds it in front of his face. “You may not be able to poison a life form with one touch,” she says causing the apple to rot right in her hand. “But you can always do something.”
Jungkook thinks a bit trying to understand what she’s trying to say. He doesn’t have the ability to suck the life out of someone the way she can, but what else could he do that would ensure no one else is effected by his rage? After a moment he starts to think of something. He takes the rotten apple out of his mothers hand and stares at it a second.
“A controlled fire would still be too obvious,” he mumbles. “But…” he looks around. “My environment…”
Sunyoung silently nods allowing him to find the solution on his own. Jungkook sets the apple down on the table and gets up to grab a knife from the counter. He sits back down and stares at the knife.
“What if I just..” he trails off while safely holding the blade of the knife. After a moment the knife is glowing red hot from him transferring the heat from his internal fire to it. He puts the knife to the apple where it immediately burns through it turning every bit into ash without setting anything else on fire.
“Just like that,” Sunyoung nods. “You managed to turn that apple into nothing without harming anything else. It’s the same concept when it comes to your rage.”
“So as long as I find a way to unleash it low key and only direct it towards the one I’m angry with, then I won’t explode later on because I held everything in?” He asks.
“I guess that’s the basics of what I’m trying to say,” she chuckles. “But I don’t think that’s your only issue right now.”
“What do you mean?”
“Tokki, you know I absolutely understand why you have no desire to see or speak to Minseok, but I can tell that you need to.”
“Why do you think I need to?” He already knows the answer, but he’s choosing to play stubborn right now.
“The same reason why I needed to.” She gives him a knowing look hoping he takes the hint, but she should know her stubborn youngest better than that.
“To kill him?” He asks.
“No,” she sighs. “I mean maybe, but no that’s not what I mean.”
“Are you about to give me the same ‘you need closure’ speech Luna already gave me?” He sighs.
“Oh, so you’ve heard this all before?”
“Yes,” he groans.
“Good, then you’ll get to hear it again.”
“Mom no,” he protests. “I don’t need closure. I have closure. He’s locked up, and with all of the evidence he’ll be doing hard labor the rest of his life. That’s all the closure I need.”
“Are you sure?” She asks leaning in. “You truly feel like you don’t need to get any answers or explanations from him?”
“No,” he huffs annoyed. He hates the conversation. He hates the thought of seeing Minseok’s face again. He hates that he’s having to have this conversation with his mom after he’s already had to fuss at Luna to get her to drop the subject.
“Ok then,” Sunyoung says noticing his agitation. “Let me ask you one thing, and if you’re honest with me I won’t push the topic anymore.”
“Fine,” he mumbles. “What is it?”
“What part of all of this makes you the most upset? The fact that he used you this entire time and turned out to be the very type of evil he had been training you to stand up against, or the fact that any bit of hope you had for one day finally getting the father-son relationship you always wanted is now completely gone?”
Jungkook struggles to answer. He thought she would ask him something simple and that would be the end of it. Now he’s looking back at her fighting the urge to run and hide.
“Fuck,” he sighs. “What are you trying to get at?”
“I’m just asking you to be honest, that’s all.” She knew her question would hit him deep. All of these years providing refuge for Jungkook she knows more than anyone how much he’s always longed to have a father that actually behaved like one rather than a drill sergeant.
Even if he doesn’t say it directly, it’s clear in the many times he would ask Sunyoung why Minseok wouldn’t support any of his extracurricular activities the way other kids’ dads would do. The many times he would ask her if she knew what he could do to make Minseok proud. At the very least he would have liked to get a compliment, or simple encouraging words, or even just a smile from Minseok yet he never got any of it. Even until now Jungkook hasnt gotten a single word of praise. Not even a good job after Jungkook received the Medal of Honor. Sure Minseok was only pretending to be nice at the time, but he could have at least pretended to be proud of Jungkook.
The thought of all of this just angers Jungkook more. So much more. Minseok has always been a terrible father and couldn’t even be bothered to pretend to be a decent father. Not even for a minute. What type of person could be so cold to their own son yet expect perfection and in the end power from this son? He’s pissed again.
Sunyoung can see the conflict in his eyes. That’s exactly what she wanted. He’s too stubborn to simply do something because he’s being told, he has to come to the conclusion himself. She knows he’s upset that Minseok used him, but she knows he’s more upset about having to let go of his dream of having a loving father. She asked him this question because she knew he wouldn’t be able to admit to it but he also wouldn’t be able to lie to her about it.
He sits quietly not saying a word. He doesn’t have an answer for her. He’s upset about it all, what he’s most upset about is irrelevant. Yet she still managed to hit him where it hurts most.
“Get the answers you need while you still can, Tokki,” she encourages. “I know it’s hard for you, but you know you won’t be able to rest if you don’t at least try to get some answers.”
“He’s not going to be truthful, what’s the point?” He huffs trying to justify not getting the closure he knows he absolutely needs.
“If he’s not going to be truthful, then make him.”
“Make him? How?”
Sunyoung points to the rotted apple on the table that is now nothing more than a pile of ash. He nods slowly understanding what she’s trying to tell him. However, this all still requires him to look Minseok right in the face and confront him about things he’d been avoiding himself.
He absolutely does not want to look Minseok in the face.

So, I used to do weekly updates to let everyone know where I’m at, and since I also like polls I decided to do weekly polls/updates on what I’m working on.
I'm hoping to make it every Monday night for it to come out on Tuesday Mornings!
Requests status: OPEN For both Reactions & Scenarios
Things Coming this Week:
As of right now, Nothing is set in the Queue. I am still working on things. I haven't had the time to write anything but I hopefully will get back into the swing of things ASAP.
Working On:
Reactions: Working on Reactions 13-25. In the Meantime you can find the Masterlist here.
Scenarios: I have 18 (2 for each member) in the planning phases as of this moment. In the meantime you can find the Masterlist Here. [These will usually be either One Shots or 1-3 parts]
Universes: My Multiple Chapter Stories. The Main reason I came back to writing EXO Fanfic. These will not be Member x Reader. For these I either write in 3rd Person with OC characters or First Person. Also all the Member OC pairs will stay the same through out each series.
Currently Working on...
Rewriting an old Minseok Werewolf -> Basic Plot is done. Maybe between 5-15 Parts, won't be higher than 25.
On: Chapter One
Phase: First Draft
Exodus College -> Based on Romance Trope; each Member gets one. [Each member will have 10-15 chapters each plus an epilogue]
On: Series Planning
Phase: Planning
Exceptional Love Series -> Sci-fi fantasy based on EXO Lore; This is 9 different stories that build to a second phase of the story that I am planning on being 25-50 Chapters Minimally [This is also a rewriting a pervious work I had done before as well; All members will have 5 Chapters each. All basic plot outlines for phase I are done.]
First Story will be Light [Baekhyun - 5 Chapters]
On: Chapter 1
Phase: Editing
Fae Inspired -> (I made a World map...) This will be similar to Exceptional Love with each member getting their own story but unsure if I will do a Part II, with a bigger story. [if I do, it' won't be that big]
Phase: Planning [had to finish the map first ]
Other works from my old account I'm thinking of rewriting and working out: Greek God Series & EXODUS City (A Mafia theme)
Okay that's a lot of information, but I do want to hear back from you guys! Which Universe are you the most excited about!
Also for those who don't know, I do not include Tao, Luhan & Kris in any of my writings of one shots/reactions. If I do, it's in the past tense, and I usually have them die in the prologue or before the stories begin in my universes if and only if it makes sense for the plot overall. I have chosen to include only current EXO members. Yixing to me will always be EXO Member, he has made it clear how much the band has meant to him over the years. Even if he eventually leaves, I will probably include him in the future as well. If you don't like that well then...Thank you for stopping by!

Fractions (1)
Tumblr media
GIF originally posted by chanshine
Pairings: Minseok x Y/N
AU: Soulmate AU
Inspired by this tweet:
Tumblr media
A/N: I’ve had this in my drafts for over a month now but I still haven’t finished writing it yet so I decided to cut it in half instead of posting it in one go. 😅 I didn’t even proofread it because it made me anxious for whatever reason. Now please excuse me while I hide after I post this. 🙈 I hope you enjoy this...
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*  *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
When you were younger, you’ve always dreamed of being married to your soulmate. Your parents were soulmates and having seen how they deeply loved each other growing up, it made you want to have the same thing they did.
You recall coming home from school one time with a skip on your steps. When your parents asked you how your day went, you gave them a toothy smile and exclaimed, “I learned about fractions today! My teacher said that if you divide something into equal parts, each part is a fraction of the whole.”
Your mother smiled at your enthusiasm. At that moment, as she heard you explain what you learned, she knew you were going to grow up to be a wise lady.
“Mom, Dad, do you know fractions?” You ask cheekily, back then you thought they didn’t know it because you’ve never heard them mention the word.
“Of course, darling,” your father scrunches his nose at you, a hint of smile in his lips.
“Can you give me an example, Daddy?”
He pauses, thinking deeply. He turns his head away from you and looks at your mother’s eyes, “Your mom and I, we’re two halves of one soul.”
You watched as they looked at each other with sparkling eyes and warm smiles.
“Why are you smiling? Did I miss something? Was it a joke? I don’t understand,” you whine. “I don’t think you’re talking about fractions, Daddy.”
“You’ll understand when you’re older, darling.”
And he was right. When you grew up, you understood what he meant, theoretically, at least. He was talking about soulmates.
You found out about it from your best friend Jess. You were still young back then, maybe around twelve years old. Her parents told her that they were soulmates when she saw that her mother’s skin on her arm was glowing. Her mother preferred wearing t-shirts and long sleeved blouses rather than sleeveless clothes which was why Jess hadn’t noticed it before. Her parents explained that when you meet your soulmate a part of your skin lights up in daylight and glows even brighter in the dark.
When you got home that day, you remember immediately walking up to your parents to ask them if they were soulmates. They were startled by your question at first, but gave you a gentle smile. “Yes we are, darling,” your mother confirms.
That night you learned that the patch of skin that shines when you meet your soulmate is called the soulmate mark. But most people initially called it an “invisible tattoo” because it was the easiest way to describe it. It was like a tattoo in a sense, because it was a permanent kind of body art, except that you were born with it instead of having a tattoo artist injecting ink on your skin.
Each soulmate has distinct patterns on their skin and they have it at the exactly the same location. Your parents’ tattoo was like a very intricate design of leaves located just a few inches above their hips. When your mother showed you her glowing tattoo, you couldn’t help but gawk at it as you gently ran your fingers over it.
It was then that you realized why your parents were perfect for each other. Whatever your father lacks, your mother makes up for it. They complemented each other. They told you that was how soulmates work, that everything falls into place as you meet them. They were two halves of one soul.
That was how you got really excited about weddings, not just normal weddings, weddings of soulmates to be exact. It was the reason why you were close to tears right now as you heard the priest say, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.”
Your breath hitched and you placed your hands over your heart. You were so overwhelmed with happiness. You couldn’t close your eyes, if you did, tears would start to fall and you didn’t want that. You didn’t want to ruin your makeup.
You watch as Jess smiles adoringly at Chanyeol before they both leaned in for a kiss. You were extremely happy for Jess. Chanyeol is a nice man, and a romantic one at that. When you first met him, you knew he was Jess’s ideal man and when you introduced them to each other you were shocked to know that they were actually soulmates.
You couldn’t imagine how Jess must be feeling. This was Jess’s dream too, to marry her soulmate. You wonder how she managed not to cry while you were barely holding your tears.
You look over the other guests. Their reactions were similar to yours which made your heart swell. You were glad the couple were surrounded with people who love and care for them.
Your eyes meet with your friend, Yixing, and you both smile at each other and wave. You and Yixing became friends when you were in high school. He’s heard you daydream about meeting your soulmate a million times already so he knew that you were also feeling a bit sad deep down, despite your joy for Jess. You knew too that he felt the same. You were both in your 30s and you both haven’t met your soulmates yet after all.
When the wedding and the reception was over, you bid Jess goodbye and congratulated her once again. You wished Chanyeol and her to live a happy life together. Jess pulled you into a hug and whispered, “You’ll find him too. Don’t worry,” as if knowing what’s plaguing your mind.
You smiled and nodded, although you weren’t sure if what she said was true. It was uncommon for people to meet their soulmates beyond 30 years old after all. What’s more uncommon is if one doesn’t have a soulmate. Just the thought of not having a soulmate made your heart ache terribly.
Yixing, oh sweet Yixing, suggested one time that if you both haven’t met your soulmates by the age of 35, you should just get married with each other. You agreed instantly, you didn’t want to end up being alone for the rest of your life. At least, you had Yixing who you knew would treat you right if you did get married with each other.
But fate was cruel. On his 34th birthday party which you planned, he met his soulmate, Diane. She was Jongin’s cousin who worked in China. She flew home to Korea to visit her family after years of working overseas.
How timely it was that Jongin brought her to Yixing’s party claiming that she needs to expand her social circle.
When Jongin introduced her to Yixing, you saw how they both froze. You wondered if it was true that you’d feel a slight buzz in your body once you find your soulmate. Out of nowhere, Diane and Yixing’s left elbows shined. You watched with amazement and slight sadness as four seemingly interconnected circles appeared glowing on their skin.
You had to admit, despite the bitterness on the tip of your tongue, it was truly breathtaking to watch the invisible tattoo come to life. It was magical to watch your skin shimmer and take form into something beautiful — all because of love. Maybe this was why the expression “You’re glowing” is said when you meet someone who treats you right.
With Yixing finding his soulmate, you felt lonely. Among your friends, you were the only one left without a soulmate. But Yixing finding his other half at such an age did give you a small flame of hope. That small flame was enough to make you happy, so when you got to talk to Yixing again, you congratulated him sincerely. But you could sense his worry as soon as the words left your mouth. He didn’t have to voice his thoughts, you knew well enough what he wanted to say.
You smiled at him. He truly is the sweetest person. “I’m fine Yixing, I really am. It rarely happens that you meet your soulmate when you’re more than 30 years old, but it happened to you. I have a feeling it’s gonna happen to me too.”
Yixing knows you’re a pessimist so he naturally gets worried about you, but today, he knew you weren’t lying when you said those words. He was glad you were being optimistic for once. “I know it’ll happen soon, darling. I have a good feeling about it too.”
That was enough for you. Yixing doesn’t lie and the fact that he believes you’ll find your soulmate flares up the hope you were feeling.
As much as you wanted to spend your time finding your soulmate, you have to work too. The previous company that you worked at unfortunately closed down. So you didn’t have a choice but to go look for a new job.
The company you’ve always dreamt to work at was EXO Pharmaceutical Company but it was a highly competitive company and when you applied back then, you lacked the credentials. You’ve been building up your resume and your credibility with seminars and training from your previous work, so this time you were really hoping to get the job. You just have to impress everyone there.
When you got a call from Jongdae, the HR personnel, saying you got the job, you were beyond ecstatic. You couldn’t help but jump around and scream as soon as the call ended. You called your parents informing them of your good news. You were close to tears as you heard them say that they were proud of you and the woman you became.
Just before you ended the call you father whispered, “We’re three parts of a whole.”
This made your heart melt. To you what he said was loud and clear: You don’t need another man to make you feel whole because you have us – your family. With that, your worries on whether or not you find your soulmate is gone.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*  *:・゚✧*:・゚✧ ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
It was your first day of work at EXO and you were really nervous. Junmyeon was assigned to help you familiarize yourself with the workplace and to guide you on what to do. When he first introduced himself to you, your breath hitched and your heart started thumping faster. Was he your soulmate? But then you notice that he had a glowing tattoo on his wrist when he offered his hand to shake and yours didn’t.
You felt embarrassed. This has happened a lot of times to you. You often mistake people as your soulmate. People had different descriptions on what they felt when they first met their soulmates so sometimes when you find someone overly attractive that it makes you nervous, just like Junmyeon, you get confused if that person was your soulmate or not.
You quickly push your momentary attraction aside because it felt wrong. Sure you were free to think some men are good looking but somehow you felt like you were cheating on your soulmate if you think of other men that way. What a hopeless romantic.
You clear your throat and greet Junmyeon warmly. He then guides you to your workplace. He points and names which equipment you’ll be handling. He teaches you how to handle the machinery and equipment. You were a fast learner and have handled almost the same equipment before so by lunch time, you were able to do things by yourself.
“Thank you for your help, Junmyeon.”
“No problem! Come on, let’s grab some lunch with the others,” he smiles at you. “The CEO wants to meet you later, by the way.”
This made you freeze. The CEO of the previous company you worked at never once visited you or asked to meet you. You’ve only ever seen him when there was a company event. So this was something that you weren’t familiar with. What if he sees something in you that he dislikes or asks something that you don’t know the answer to? Sure you just got the job, but he can fire you on the spot, no? You pale.
Junmyeon notices your panicked state and immediately says, “Hey, don’t worry. Mr. Kim is really nice. Although he does have an intimidating aura but that's just the CEO vibes,” he shrugs. “It’s customary for him to greet his new employees. I’m sure you’ll be fine as long as you’re polite.”
Junmyeon has a warm smile and a soothing voice, it did help a little in alleviating your nerves but you still couldn’t help but think of the worst. With a sigh you just nodded your head then plastered a smile.
Lunch with your coworkers was fun. You may have forgotten about meeting the CEO as soon as they graced you with their presence. Baekhyun, Sehun, Kyungsoo, and Junmyeon were all fun to be with. Mostly it was Junmyeon and Baekhyun who talked a lot while the rest of you listened and laughed. It was nice to have people welcome you so warmly.
You weren’t used to talking a lot and you mostly kept to yourself when you’re in a new environment so this was quite different than what you’re used to. Different in a good way.
By the end of lunch, you couldn’t help but sigh in relief that you successfully made friends just on your first day at work.
As you were walking back towards your workplace, Baekhyun assured you that you didn’t need to worry about meeting Mr. Kim — the CEO. If Junmyeon liked you, then Mr. Kim would too. Apparently they were cousins.
You don’t really know if Baekhyun was lying, it was after all the first day you’ve known him. But his face was wiped off of mischief and the tone he used was comforting, so you found yourself believing him.
You were in high spirits when Mr. Kim’s secretary came to call you. But even when you weren’t as nervous as before and definitely less worried, your palms were sweating.
The secretary, Ms. Moon noticed you kept fidgeting, although, you swear to god you were trying to be subtle. She gives you a smile and says, “You don’t have to worry.”
You cringe internally. You’ve been awfully bad at hiding your nervousness today.
“Mr. Kim is really nice. Just be polite and professional.”
You nod your head and compose yourself.
“You ready?” She asks.
“Yes Ma’am.” You say as you rub your palms over your pants for the last time. You immediately put on a smile.
She knocks on the door, “Mr. Kim, Ms. Y/L/N is here.”
“Let her in.”
You entered the office with a smile on your face. Mr. Kim was still busy signing papers so he hasn’t looked up to you yet.
You stood in front of his desk, not really knowing what to do. Your heart was pounding so fast, you wanted to make a good first impression so badly.
It didn’t take too long though, after a second he has plastered a smile even before he looks up. When he finally turned his face to you, everything felt like they were moving in slow motion. You couldn’t even hear the clock ticking anymore. You freeze.
Mr. Kim is gorgeous. If Junmyeon made your breath hitch, Mr. Kim took your breath away. It was impossible, but you felt like your heart was pounding ten times faster than before.
Mr. Kim didn’t move. The smile on his face falters a little. You wouldn’t even notice it if you weren’t staring at him.
It felt like you were both staring at each other's eyes for an hour when in reality it was just one hot minute.
Mr. Kim was the first to break off from the trance. He clears his throat and smiles wider, “You must be Ms. Y/L/N. I’m Kim Minseok, CEO of EXO Pharmaceutical Company.” He offers his right hand to shake.
You return a smile and look over to his hand and shake it. As you raised your hand, your eyes focused on the back of his hand that was glowing. From the tip of his ring finger to his wrist lay a pattern of flowers. The pattern seemed to have surrounded his wrist too. It was beautiful and you were mesmerized. You unconsciously stopped moving to stare at it in awe.
Unbeknownst to you, Mr. Kim was observing you too. But when it took you a tad bit long to reach for his hand, he tears his gaze away from your face reluctantly. His eyes trail to his right hand which you were looking at. His eyes widened at the sight. He was quite sure the soulmate mark wasn’t there before. Which only meant one thing…
You. You were his soulmate. He was yours.
You realize that you were staring and so you straighten your back and reach for his hand. “I-I’m sorry—” but you stop in the middle of your sentence when your hand finally touches his.
There was a tingling sensation when it happened. You knew you weren’t imagining it because you felt Mr. Kim jolted slightly.
After the initial shock, Mr. Kim tightens his hold on your hand as he shakes it. You firmly shake his hand in return.
You clear your throat, “I’m sorry… for... zoning out, Mr. Kim,” you face down. You felt all your blood rush to your face in embarrassment.
Mr. Kim doesn’t respond. When you looked up, you noticed he was staring at your hands. He was still holding your hand and you didn’t know if you wanted to retract it at all. His hands were warm and soft.
But then you suddenly remembered that he was the CEO, he was your boss. So you carefully removed your hand from his grip.
That’s when you saw it. The back of your hand was glowing, exactly the same pattern and position as Mr. Kim’s. You almost gasped.
You closed your eyes really quickly and tried to compose yourself. Internally, you were screaming and jumping, but you have to suppress your emotions. It was highly unprofessional.

Baekhyun’s POV
hey don’t worry about texting back fast i just had a question-
No.
how are you? did you sleep well? you didn’t throw up right?-
No.
i love you so much, i want to be buried in your skin. i think about you all the time and i can’t stop.
Baekhyun sighs as he retracts his last text to you. This was hard. Putting a whole act on just so he could be with you. He wished that you would just fall in love with him just as easily as he did with you. He rises from his desk, lumbering his phone in his hand as he makes his way to his bathroom.
As he flicked on the lights, he intensely peered at himself in the mirror. He was growing some stubble on his chin, frowning, he brushed his hand over it. He hated facial hair, especially on him. He had a youthful, pretty face, there wasn’t any need to grow it. His features were perfect, clear pale skin with a rosy hue to his full lips. He liked his moles too; they were like pretty little stars sprinkled here and there. He removes his hand from his chin, admiring himself some more.
His black hair was flat, it didn’t have much volume. As he bundles a fragment of it with his hand, he attempts to floof it up, add some texture to it. The mirror version of him frowned, obviously not satisfied with the results. He looked down at his phone, an idea popping into his head. He searched up hair salons nearby, not noticing that he was biting on his fingernail. His finger pauses over one location, it had good reviews, they specialized in coloring. Hm. Baekhyun never thought about dying his hair, he preferred his dark locks, thought it made him look more natural. He debates over it for a moment.
Baekhyun doesn’t like unwanted touching, that’s why he enjoys cutting his hair himself. People didn’t deserve to be close to him like that; his body was a temple after all. Anyone but you were not allowed to enter it. But this could be a good change, maybe you would like it. And if he was going to plan a date with you, he wanted to make sure that his looks were up to the best of standards.
Change.
That annoying word that was embedded in his thoughts for the past couple of days. He didn’t think he was capable of it, in fact he didn’t think that there was anything needing to change in the first place. Sure, he’s a bloodthirsty murderer who kills people whenever he pleases, but hey, who doesn’t get a little angry sometimes? He snaps out of his train of thought when his phone buzzes lightly in his hand.
this is baekhyun, right? it’s y/n.
It’s you. Baekhyun nearly fumbles his phone in his grasp, a sudden sweat washing over him. He sinks down to sit on his bathroom floor, his back laying against the wall as he reads over the text you sent him over and over. You texted him first; that was a good sign. He’d take it.
this is he. i’m surprised you texted me first. i’m supposed to do that >:(
He waits, his body shaking with excitement. Somehow you made him feel like a little kid again, Y/N. Every moment he spent with you, whether it was virtually or physically, he will always become the happiest person in the world. He eyes the dots dancing on his screen, imagining you’re just as nervous and excited as he is right now.
haha, i beat you to it. get used to having a woman take charge >:)
Oh, Baekhyun will definitely get used to that. He tries to ignore the growing tent in his sweats, licking over his lips as he quickly texts you back.
i don’t mind that. i’ve been thinking about what we should do for our date.
A second passes, you respond.
i was just thinking about that too. :) what did you have planned, mr.perfume boy?
In all honesty, Baekhyun has racked through his brain thinking of the perfect date all morning, his indecisiveness getting in the way of picking someplace to go to. His immediate thought was a nice dinner, maybe they’d take a stroll in the park after. But no, you’d get cold. The second choice was the amusement park. The colorful lights, the innocent atmosphere could cheer you up. But Baekhyun hates roller coasters, and doesn't like touching railings or handlebars. They’re disgusting and don’t ever get cleaned. Until finally…he got it.
i want you to come over. i’ll cook us dinner and we can buy a movie of your choosing.
He knew you; you liked simplicity and not going over the top. Although your choices of decor were…brash, right now you didn’t need to be wooed by an extravagant, fancy dinner. You also didn’t need to be around people too, and maybe Baekhyun just didn’t want men staring at you. You would like this, you would appreciate him for thinking about you in such a dire time.
that actually sounds…perfect. when are we doing this???
Well obviously today, Y/N. He couldn’t stand being away from you, especially this long, especially after being around you, feeling your lips on his. You feel the same way too, don’t lie to yourself. You liked him, Y/N. You like his teasing, the sweet smiles and staring. You savored it, you loved the feeling of being taken care of. This was all part of the manipulation. He smirked as his fingers dashed on his screen.
tonight, duh. i’ll pick you up around 8. i’ll have a surprise for you. :)
So he decided to schedule the appointment. Who knows? Maybe it won’t be such a bad experience letting someone take care of him for once. He waits as the phone rings, thumping his foot on his bathroom floor.
“Hello, this is Yoo Salon. How can I help you?”
He fidgets a bit. “I uh- I wanted to schedule a hair appointment. I’d like to dye my hair?”
“Of course. Do you have someone you’d prefer?”
He snorts. “I’ve never been there before. This is my first time going to a salon in years.”
“Sure. So it doesn’t matter who I get you in with?”
“Not at all. I just need it done before 8 o’clock.”
“Well… we’ll see. Can I ask what color you’d like done?”
Baekhyun ponders on it for a moment. He snaps his fingers, his lips pushed together in a pout.
“I want something different. Ah, something that will make me stand out.”
“Platinum is quite popular these days, sir.”
Hm. “Platinum it is then.”
-
He shouldn’t have done this. No, he really shouldn’t have. Do you know why, Y/N? Because this bitch won’t stop flirting with him, and although she is somewhat decent, Baekhyun has no intention of playing it up for her. You are the only one that matters, and this bitch with pink hair isn’t getting the point at all.
She finishes putting the toil in his hair, and Baekhyun scrolls mindlessly on his phone. Really all he does is look through the same conversation you had earlier, he thought his hairdresser would get the idea that he’s a taken man. But yet, she proves him wrong once again.
She stands behind him, smirking at him in the mirror that’s placed in front of him.
“You know, so many girls are going to think you’re cute with this color.”
He raises his eyebrows, laying his phone in his lap.
“Yeah? Well I’m not interested in girls.”
“Oh? Men?”
He sighs exasperatedly.
“I’m interested in women.”
She pouts, and Baekhyun is disgusted. Her foundation is two shades too dark, and she chose to wear a bright pink lipstick; matching the dreadful dried out hair of hers.
“Oh come on,” She places a hand on his chest, “You don’t want a different taste?”
He bats her hand away, he almost, almost, wants to strangle her right now. But he takes a deep breath and smiles.
“I’m taken. Now can you make yourself useful and do my hair?”
She blinks, a stunned expression pops up.
“Y-yes. Well at this rate, your hair lifted well. Give it 5 minutes and I’ll come back to finish up.”
He opens his phone up again, not saying a word. He could see her in the corner of his eye, her stumbling hands searching through her tools. She was nervous. She should be.
“Can I ask what you do for work, sir?”
She asks softly this time, not in the loud and obnoxious tone she had previously.
“I work in the fragrance business. Why?” He tilts his head, his eyes piercing through her.
She blushes. “You look like someone famous.”
If there is anything that Baekhyun loves more than you, it’s attention. So he changes his mood a bit, a mischievous smile etching onto his features. He taps his phone case with his nail.
“Do I now? Have you heard of Prive?”
The hairdresser drops the brush she’s holding, her hand immediately covering her mouth.
“O- Oh my god. You’re Byun Baekhyun. I love your perfume line!”
He winces.
“Don’t call me by my family name. Baekhyun is fine.”
He waves her off, but he thrives off of compliments and being recognized. It made him feel superior, powerful. If he were to get everyone’s salary here, and see what they make in total after a year; they still wouldn't be anywhere close to what he makes in a week alone. It’s something he prides himself in; the luxurious clothing, colognes and perfumes, the lifestyle. He was fucking rich. He couldn’t wait to spoil you and buy you anything that you wanted. That’s the dream for him. To live a happy, wealthy life with you; see you smile at jewelry he buys and trips he’ll plan. He smiles to himself as he thinks about it, the woman becoming shy all of a sudden.
“I’m sorry Ba- Baekhyun. Please excuse me for a moment.”
He gives her a questiongly look, but instead goes back to rummage through some Youtube videos. It wasn’t even a couple minutes into the game review he was watching until he noticed the pink haired woman was making it completely obvious she was gossiping to her co-workers. He frowned.
Like Baekhyun stated before, he loved the overwhelming adoration and swooning over him, but when it came to people eye fucking him and oogling him; when he already fucking told her he was taken, well. It would make any person mad. The thoughts of her neck being snapped and watching her take a last breath resonated in his head, his fingers started to twitch ever so slightly over his phone. So he raises his finger at her, curving it inward, motioning for her to come over. She immediately widens her eyes, scurrying off from her friends who were all smiling at him.
She places her hands on the back of his chair, her hazel eyes darting from his phone to his hair.
“Yes?”
He chuckles, covering his mouth with his hand. He rolls his eyes, licking his lips as he looks at her.
“Can I ask you something… what’s your name?”
She gulps.
“Eunbi.”
“Eunbi, that’s a pretty name. Is my hair ready yet?”
Eunbi peeks through the foil, and Baekhyun can catch a glimpse of the new shade of white.
“Actually…yes. Let me rinse this out and I can touch anything else up.”
He shakes his head, turning his body to face her. Her cheeks began to turn a nice shade of red.
“I have another question for you Eunbi.”
Eunbi nervously smiles.
“Y-yes?”
“Do you mind giving me your card? I’d like to have you as my hairdresser again.”
“Me? Really? I- of course! That’s not a problem!”
The radiating happiness emitting from her deflected straight off of Baekhyun, the fake smile he plastered on his face just shining through his disgust. He tips his head down as he takes the card from her, purposely letting his fingers linger on hers, catching onto the shyness that’s painted in her eyes. She’s so dumb, and so very careless. He couldn’t wait to kill her. He places the card in the front pocket of his black coat.
It didn’t take too much longer for her to finish, her carefully washing his hair and the occasional lip bite in his direction. He had to say…even though she was a stupid cunt, she did a pretty great job. There were still parts that were darker, but the overall job was executed perfectly. He checks himself out for a moment when she takes off his apron, dusting it out behind the chair.
He stands up, letting a small cough out. “Ah, thank you so much, Eunbi.”
Eunbi bows, a small giggle slipping past her lips.
“Thank you for allowing me to do your hair, Baekhyn. Please- call me.”
She winks, and Baekhyun resists the urge to throw up. Instead he gives her a tight knitted smile and a nod. As he walks away to get to the front desk and pay, he’s stopped by a hand on his shoulder. He snaps his head to the side in frustration, the anger rising in him. He swiftly turns around, giving her a sweet smirk.
“Yes?”
Eunbi fidgets with her fingers. “I- I think you’re really handsome. Please give me a chance.”
He blinks in confusion. Then, he scoffs as he looks off to the side.
“Would you do something for me?”
“A-anything.”
He places his hand under her chin, moving his head forward opposite of her ear as he whispers,
“Be a good girl and don’t be so needy.”
He pushes her face to the side harshly, his teeth grinding together. She doesn’t say anything else, just peering at him with tear filled eyes. He rolls his own, trying to cover up the sarcastic laugh that’s crawling up his throat. It wasn’t like Baekhyun wasn’t used to women flirting with him, trying to sleep with him. But when he’s a taken man, he doesn’t want to entertain anybody’s fantasies and hopes that he’ll give them a chance. He was repulsed when his friends or acquaintances would ever so easily sleep with any woman that flung themselves onto them. Baekhyun was a gentleman after all; he believed in having one person and that was it.  Perverted thoughts, looking at porn, speaking to other people when you were with someone was cheating. Call him old fashioned but that was the way he liked it.
Baekhyun finished up paying for the appointment, the receptionist smiling brightly at him before he gave his thanks. He gave Eunbi one last glance as she was sweeping up her area; he just wanted to remember how stupid she looked right now. Because soon, she would be dead, suffocated and betrayed by the blood that pumped life into her. He chuckles as he pushes the glass doors in front him, exiting the building.
He grunts as he enters his car, pulling out his phone from his front pocket. The business card he received from the woman slightly poked out, and he pushed it back into place. He checked the progress on the meal that he purchased for the both of you from the restaurant he took Mina to not too long ago. Because yes, he promised he’d cook, but he didn’t trust himself enough to make it himself. He wanted everything to be perfect, because that’s all you deserve. Plus, he didn’t mind spending a grand on this; it would be worth it. It wouldn’t hurt if you thought he was an amazing cook, better than Kyungsoo.
Ding!
He eyes flash to a notification on the top of his screen;
Jihyo, you placed an order for takeout! Estimated time of arrival: 9:00.
Oh yeah, he forgot about that. He managed to tap into her phone easily. The problem he was facing however, was that it was 7:30. And he made plans to pick you up around 8. So you could probably understand how this was slowly turning into a troublesome scenario for Baekhyun. He bit his lip as he threw his head back against his headrest, looking at the gray interior of his car.
“I can just say…” He drums his finger on the dashboard, “I forgot something.”
He wanted to kill her as soon as possible, and it doesn’t help that it had to happen tonight. The longer the bitch was alive, the more pain it caused you, Y/N. You wouldn’t say it, but Baekhyun knew that’s how it was. He wouldn’t be able to live, no, he would rather die if the person who cheated with his significant other was living their life happily and without a care in the world. That’s why you had him, Y/N. He would deal with it, he would do the thing you wouldn’t do.
He’s going to kill her and savor the image of her last, dying breath.
-
Baekhyun had finished setting up the dinner plates and placing the expensive food in their designated places. He poured wine into two glasses, red, because he preferred the dark and sweet flavor. It also reminded him of the satisfying and beautiful shade of blood. He was…nervous. Driving to your home was extremely difficult for some reason, his heart beating against his rib cage and the shallow breaths he pushed out from his tightening throat. He’s never felt like this before, Y/N. Only you could make him react like this, make him feel normal about first date jitters.
Sure, he’s had to play it up for you, manipulate you, pretend he wasn’t a bloodthirsty killer. But Y/N, you made him feel like a human being. He wasn’t just someone who kills because of important reasons, not someone who would die for you, not someone who was obsessed with you. You looked past those things, even if you didn’t know about it. You saw him as an innocent, caring, nurturing man. Maybe his mother was right, he was changing. Just maybe, he wasn’t a monster.
Monsters don’t kill out of love, after all.
He shakily grabs the bouquet of roses he bought for you from out of the passenger seat, looking at himself in the rearview mirror. He decided to keep on the black coat, a black button up with white polka-dots splashed on it, and simple black slacks. His platinum hair was combed back, some strands falling on his forehead. He looked good. He gives himself a small, ‘fighting’, and exits out of his vehicle.
He wondered what you were wearing as he walked up the steps to your nimble apartment, would you go all out for him? Just like he did for you? Of course you would, you were in love with him after all, why wouldn’t you try and impress him? He pauses before he knocks on your door, afraid of what will eventually transpire between the two of you. Would you end up not sharing the same emotions he had for you? There was no reason why you wouldn’t; after all you ended up kissing him. Even if you were drunk, that still meant something. It had to.
So he finally knocks. He takes a step back, looking down at his outfit. He almost didn’t want to look you in the eyes, too afraid if you didn’t like any of this. The flowers, the new hair. As he tries to regain his breath, you swing open the door. And wow, Y/N. You…you are beautiful.
You had on a white satin dress that stopped before your knees. It almost looked like a shade of luminescent pearl, the way it had a subtle glow to it. You accompanied the dress with white stiletto pumps, nothing too fancy, it had a short heel. Your hair was slightly curled, falling effortlessly past your shoulders. And then your face. Light makeup, you didn’t need it anyways, but Baekhyun knew that you wanted to feel prettier. Just as he’s about to say something, he stops.
Your lips. He knew that shade. The…brand.
Chanel Red Lipstick.
“Baekhyun?”
He dizzily snaps out of it, trying to take his attention off of the abomination that stained your lips.
Baekhyun smiles at you, raising the bouquet forward. You let out a small chirp, your eyes aglow.
“You look…amazing. I- wow. You really had to outdo me, huh?”
You laughed as you gripped the flowers close to your chest, your cheeks beginning to burn pink.
“I can look good when I put in the effort. It was hard but…I was excited to see you. But look at you,” You reach forward to touch his hair, and Baekhyun takes the chance to inhale your scent, “Your hair is different.”
His eyes glimmer with curiosity.
“Yeah. Do you like it?”
You purse your lips, your eyebrows furrowing together as you drop your hand.
“No, I hate it.”
He doesn’t know what to do other than gape. But then you hit him playfully on his arm, laughing.
“Of course I like it. I think you look really…handsome.”
The last word comes out strained, and he can see that you’re thinking of something else, maybe, someone else. He takes this moment to erase those thoughts by reaching his hand out to you, bowing his head to the ground and letting a light hearted laugh out.
“Will you accompany me to my house?”
He feels your soft skin touch his, the familiar and intoxicating sensation that burns through his entire body. This is it. This date, this was going to be the story that he would tell his children about. He can picture it already, two bubbly, beautiful kids sitting next to him and you, their curiosity of how their parents met; the heart of the conversation. He’d bring you closer to his side, slightly tickling you to hear the melody-like sound that is your laughter, and he’d look adoringly at what the two of you made, together, and talk to them about your first date. How he swooned you with his amazing cooking skills, how nervous he was before he knocked on your door, how entranced he was when he saw you like this for the first time.
“Of course, Baekhyun. I wouldn’t want to be with anyone else.”
He smiles at you as he raises his head, ushering you to come outside with him.
“You won’t need anyone else when you have me.”
“Is that a threat or something?” You say sheepishly as you lock the door behind you.
He squishes his lips together to form a pout.
“It’s a promise.”
You falter for a second as you adjust your dress, the flowers cradled into the nook of your arm.
“You…you can’t break a promise, okay? You promise?”
Baekhyun simply looks at you, his demeanor changing into something more serious. He places both of his hands on each of your arms gently, lightly pushing into your glass-like skin.
“You won’t ever have to worry about me breaking a promise,” He takes a step down the stairs, “I’ll prove it to you tonight. I’m nothing like what you’ve experienced, Y/N. Trust me.”
You look like you’re debating in your head, your eyes never leaving his. He stands there waiting, and for a second he’s afraid you’re going to run back inside, too scared for this, for him. But then you quickly shake your head, brushing your hair back behind your ear. You nod cutely, linking your arm with his. He hides the sharp breath he had concealed for a moment and leads you down the staircase. He opens the side door for you, his eyes never tearing away from the enchanting view that was you.
It was nice having you with him, Y/N. He can’t remember the last time he enjoyed a conversation like this, a conversation that wasn’t filled with bickering and artificial compliments. You had a way with words, the way it flowed smoothly. He imagined your voice like honey, soft and sweet, dripping slowly but gracefully. It was almost poetic, the tone you displayed with each word. He stopped at a red light and out of habit looked in the mirror, making sure nothing was out of place. You snicker, and he turns his head to you.
“What?” He asks shyly.
You look down at your shoes, a toothy grin pops out.
“It’s just that you’re really cute. Checking yourself out and stuff. Kyungsoo- um, I mean…he never cared about his looks when he was around me. I didn’t think you would be so attentive about it. You know you’re effortlessly attractive right? Don’t be so nervous around me. I wouldn’t care if you showed up in battered clothes.”
Baekhyun’s heart skips a beat.
“You’re too sweet. You’re making my heart flutter. I’m supposed to be doing that to you.”
He shakes his head and grins, pressing on the gas as the light turns green. He hears you hum quietly, and during that, he steals a side eye glance at you. He’s been trying to ignore it this entire time, but… the lipstick. He doesn’t want to ask you, doesn’t want to hear that he was right. That it’s the Chanel lipstick that he forced Mina to never wear around him, to scrub it off with those chemical infused makeup wipes. You pulled it off, so much more than that whore ever did. But in the back of his head he can’t shake the unnerving thought that it’s okay. It’s not okay. So why was he trying to convince himself that it is?
As they finally reach his apartment, you give him a small grin, but your eyes say something else.
He leads as you follow behind him, not saying a word. He becomes worried, was his place not what you had expected, Y/N? It was hidden away, in a remote area. He chose it mostly because he liked being isolated from people, and didn't want to bother with neighbors if things ever got out of hand with previous lovers. He reaches in his pocket to fish out his keys, but he has to know what’s on your mind. You were standing there quietly, your bubbly and charming self that was in the car had seemed to disappear.
“Are you okay? Did I do something wrong?” He stands in front of you, letting the keys dangle against his leg.
You look around him, your attention gravitating to the garden of flowers that’s proudly displayed before the entrance. Again, you look around, your eyes dancing to the staircase that leads to the second story of his apartment. You look back at him, your mouth dropping every second.
“This…this isn’t an apartment. You live in a fucking mansion, Baekhyun.”
He turns around to look at his home. Sure, it was bigger than most apartments. But that’s what the tenant said it was. It was a two story building, a staircase outside that went to his office workspace, the garage underneath held two parking spaces, for his other two vehicles. He didn’t have any people that lived within the building, it was all for him. But to Baekhyun, this was small. It was a simple, normal apartment. He never thought of it as luxurious in any way, mostly because he’s owned mansions in the past. He decided to move here because it was quaint. It didn’t draw a lot of attention. It also didn’t have any other houses or apartments near it, he requested a location that was away from most civilization.
“This? No way. You should have seen my other homes. This is nothing.”
You stutter, your heels clacking on the cement nervously.
“You- I guess I underestimated how much money you have. You’re like in the middle of nowhere.”
He shrugs as he flashes you a smile, pushing his key into the lock.
“I don’t like to talk about it. I’m a very humble person.”
You snort as you follow him inside of his place.
“You’re not going to kill me or something right? Taking me out where there’s no one around.”
He freezes in his steps, and then swerves his body to face you.
“The truth is I’m a murderer.”
Silence.
He breaks it by chuckling, your facial features twitching between a smile and a frown.
“A joke. Come on, where’s your sense of humor?”
You laugh awkwardly.
“R-right. You had me there for a second. Totally believed you.”
He could hear the relief in your voice. He pushes away the nerves that were bundling in his chest after noticing it, and instead grabs your hand to lead you to his living room. Baekhyun really outdone himself here. He lit small tealight candles and placed them on the glass table that was in the middle of the spacious room, the plates sat around them. The glasses were perfectly set, and the lights were dimmed. He doesn’t miss the small gasp from you, his ego starting to inflate. This was what you needed, Y/N. You needed him to remind you of your worth, and he swears that he’ll always be doing these types of things for you from now on. Seeing the expression on your face was enough to drive him crazy, leave him wanting to know how you would react to the expensive gifts and trips he would do for you. He wanted you to love him. He loved you. He loved you. He loved you. He loved you. He loved you-
“Do you like it?” Baekhyun silences his thoughts.
You stare at him, your lip trembling. You place the bouquet on the black couch, then you make your way to him, a slight hurry in your steps. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in close. He could replay this moment forever, Y/N. Your perfume ringing in his nostrils, the way your hands fit perfectly around the round of his neck, the undenying love that you had seeping out of you for him. You were falling; so quickly, and he wasn’t prepared for you to do it so easily, so beautifully. You would be like him, obsessed.
“I love it.” You sniffle into his left shoulder. He feels your throat bob up and down against him, trying not to cry. He simply rests his head on your shoulder, closing his eyes as he takes you in. He wraps his arms around your waist, tightening his grip on you.
“You deserve this.” He whispers against her neck.
She pulls back, and he watches as the foundation melts away from the tears trailing down your cheek. He brushes his thumb to stop the upcoming tears from falling, smiling at you. You laugh softly, your hand stopping on the front of his chest pocket. Suddenly, you pause, and Baekhyun looks down, confused.
“What’s this?” The paper that was still in his pocket was peeking out, and he chuckled as he pulls it out to show you.
“It’s kind of a funny story. My hairdresser was so adamant on giving me her number so I just took it out of pity. It’s just her business card, but I was going to throw it away.” He lies.
Something flashes in your eyes, and Baekhyun, for the first time, doesn’t know what it was. You drop your hands from him, a look of hurt splashing amongst your features. He falters.
“You’re not just using me right? Because it took alot for me to do this a-and-”
He comforts you by shushing you, throwing the card on the ground and cupping your cheeks.
“I would never- do that to you. You’re important to me, Y/N. Don’t ever- say that.”
The tears that once displayed a sign of happiness were shadowed by tears of sadness. You purse your lips, your gaze searching for something else, someplace other than him. He can’t have that. You can only look at him, you don’t have to be afraid of him hurting you, Y/N. Your eyes belonged to him, they were reserved only for him. He snaps you out of it by shaking you lightly in his grasp. You hiccup, your eyes filled with confusion.
“Do you understand me? I’m not like him. I will never be like him. You have me, only me.”
“I…I’m scared Baekhyun.”
He pauses, letting his hands release from you. You stare at him numbly. He sighs.
“Scared of what?”
“I’m scared of losing you. I know that we just met but,” You run a hand through your hair as you step off to the side, your voice reaching a higher frequency, “you’re the only person that’s been there for me; that understands me. I don’t want to scare you off or anything but why…why am I so attached to you? I don’t know why. Am I crazy? Do you think I’m crazy?”
You were shouting now, looking at him with a crazed expression, and Baekhyun…he loved it. Because this, this, Y/N, this is what he’s been feeling and knowing for a while now. It was refreshing to see it in someone else rather than himself, and it was so fucking lovely. He loved seeing you strung out like this, coming to terms with the infatuation that he knew you had for him. The worry and fear of not wanting to be without him, the creeping and haunting obsession that is love, that terrorized you, the obsession that he created in you. Sweet and unsuspecting manipulation that played to you like a symphony, that he orchestrated with his charm and innocent facade. So he doesn’t want to calm you down right now, the mess that you are. But he knows that he has to in order for you to become accustomed to your newfound feelings.
He rushes over to you, shaking his head and smiling. You look at him exasperated, short breaths that are coming out too quickly, the signs of a panic attack. He holds your hands in his his, and you look down at the intertwined flesh, your cries starting to slow down.
Baekhyun attempts to hide the growing excitement in his voice when he speaks.
“You’re not crazy. I understand you. It’s okay. I will never abandon you, Y/N. You’re so much stronger for admitting this to me. I’m not scared of this, of what we have. It’s fucking real. It’s more real than you’ll ever know. So when I tell you to trust me, I want you to trust me. Can you be good and believe that, Y/N?”
Your words come out as a whisper.
“I trust you.”
He tightens his lips together as he grazes his finger on your lip, smudging the red down your lip.
“Do you want to be with me?”
You look up at him with big eyes, your features softening.
“I- I do. But I want to take things slow.”
He nods.
“We can take it slow. We’ll go at your own pace.”
You shy away from him now, a flush of embarrassment spreading over your face.
“I-I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me-”
He moves his hand swiftly to your waist and pushes you against the wall. You let out a small yelp, not expecting the sudden closeness between you and him. He looks at your hair, combing a strand that stuck to your wet eyelashes. He focuses back on you, his heart beating fast.
“Don’t apologize for that. I needed to hear that. I was so lost until I met you.”
You suck in a breath, your eyes flickering from his eyes to his lips.
“I feel like I’ve been lost too.”
He flattens his hand that was formed as a fist against the wall, licking his lips.
“You’re going to be mine, do you know that?”
“Am I?”
“We don’t deserve to be alone. We deserve this; me and you. We’re deserving of the chance for happiness. Don’t you see? We’ve only been thinking of each other and the connection we share. We’re good for each other. Don’t you agree?” He mutters out desperately.
“I guess so. I just don’t want to be by myself anymore.”
“So say it.” He hisses out.
“Say what?” You mumble.
“Say you’ll be mine.”
You take a moment before you tremble out the words he’s craved.
“I’m…yours.”
A guttural hum crawls from out his throat, pleasing the thirst that he’s been wanting to quench.
“That’s my girl.”
He doesn’t miss how you enjoy hearing that, a small grunt slips past your pretty lips. He wants to kiss you right now, to tear your white dress off your body and explore every single part of you.
As he inches towards you hesitantly, watching as you move your body closer to his, he could smell the light fragrance of mint. He squeezes your hip, nudging his nose with yours, closing his eyes.
“Baekhyun…”
“Don’t…say anything.” He murmurs against your lip.
“Please- don’t hurt me. Don’t be like him.”
He opens his eyes, meeting your lovestruck brown ones, there’s a hint of curiosity, worry.
“I will never hurt you.”
You suddenly push your lips on his, your eyes closed tightly shut. Baekhyun’s eyes are still glued onto you, surprised by your neediness. He smiles into the kiss, silently laughing to himself when you don’t move against his pink lips. He raises his hand to grip the back of your neck, holding you in place as he deepens the intimate moment. You moan quietly as he licks your bottom lip, tugging on it gently, right before he sweeps his tongue into your mouth. Your tongues fought for dominance, the heat radiating off of your bodies making the mood of the room that was once romantic into something hungry; the sweet and undenying desire for one another.
You tug on the bottom of his shirt, releasing it from where it was tucked into his slacks. He grabs your hand, pinning it against the white wall. He pulls back from you, a string of saliva dripping off his lip, you whimper from the loss, putting your knee gently in between his legs, rubbing him. And fuck, Y/N, he would have taken you right there and made love to you, soothing your fiery deprivation of him, but his phone buzzed, halting the interaction.
You looked up at him like you were in trance, your hand placed on his chest. He clicked his tongue as he released your hand from the wall, reaching to his pocket.
Jihyo your food was delivered! Enjoy.
“Fuck.” He scolded himself, how did time pass so quickly?
You curiously try and peek at his screen, but he abruptly pulls it back, earning him an angry look.
“What is it? Why can’t I see it?” You protested.
Just go with what you were going to say, Baekhyun.
Baekhyun stammered, “I- I forgot something. I forgot I ordered some desert.”
You squint at him. Instead of him cornering you, it felt like he was the smaller person now.
“Yeah? Are you lying?”
He scoffs, “Of course not. Just give me 20 minutes and I’ll be back. You can look around, start eating. It won’t take too long. I promise I’ll be back before you even notice.”
You move past him without saying a word, plopping yourself on the couch. You reach towards the wine glass and swirl the crimson liquid around, a deadpan face being given.
“Why can’t I come with you then?”
He shifts his weight, uniting his hands together while trying to fight the nervousness he’s exhibiting inside. “Because I want it to be a surprise.”
“So? I want to come with you. Let me come.”
“No.”
You put down the glass, leaning back into the couch cushion. Baekhyun continues to stare. He hoped you would say something else; the silence becoming too loud. Why did you have to be so adamant on this Y/N? Did you really want to come with him so you can watch your boyfriend’s secret affair be stabbed to death? You weren’t thinking about anything else but him, which was nice. Baekhyun would be thrilled about it if he was going anywhere else, but not this. Right now, he wasn’t happy about your neediness to be with him, he just wanted you to stay put.
He crouches down, putting his head in his hands.
“Can you please…just stay here?” He whines out.
You sigh.
“Fine.”
He looks up excitedly, rushing over to you and planting a kiss on your cheek. You’re still mad, he can tell, but he doesn’t miss how the corner of your lips were fighting off a smile. He rubs the top of your head before he pulls the keys out of his pocket.
“Don’t miss me too much, okay?” He smirks at you as he walks away.
“Yeah yeah. This better be some good dessert, Baekhyun.”
“I promise.”
He gently closes the door behind him, the sweet front he put on for you vanishes; the only thing that’s on his mind now is Jihyo. He resists the urge to moan as he pictures her dead body on the floor, the blood seeping from underneath her, the way she’d scream for someone to help her. There wouldn’t be anyone to save her, not from Baekhyun. He’d do it quickly, he already written the suicide letter as well, it was in the glove box along with the new knife he bought, specifically for her.
He sings a tune that’s been stuck in his head as he drives, smiling to himself.
You were something else, Y/N. A beautiful, loving and driven woman who knew what she wanted. Baekhyun already knew that you had fallen for him; it was just a different experience altogether to hear your rambling in person. To hear how much you needed him, the way that something clicked inside of you after spending one night with him. He didn’t know just how powerful he was, being able to get inside your head like that. Death works in miraculous ways.
It only took killing your boyfriend to make you realize what you really are.
You were just like him.
He checks the time as he finally reaches his destination, 9:30. He parks his car a street down from the apartments, grabbing a black hoodie he stashed in the back seat. He looks at himself in the mirror as he stuffs the knife and letter in the hoodie’s pocket, examining his looks. He would never get over this; the high before the kill. A rush of adrenaline pumping in his veins, the delicious feeling of taking one’s life. If he had to do this for the rest of his life, he wouldn’t complain. So he finally exits the car, keeping his head down to avoid any looks from anyone outside.
He grips the black handle of the knife that’s hidden away in the pocket, revelishing the very touch of it. Baekhyun already knew where she lived, of course he did, he’s not sloppy. He walks into the apartment building, his eyes washing over the bright and grand decor of the open area. She was rich after all. She worked for her father’s business, the well known CEO of Samsang, an electronic company. He doesn’t once raise his eyes as he approaches the receptionist desk, which earned him a confused stare from the woman standing behind it.
“May I help you with something, sir?”
He looked off towards the elevators to the left, he just had to get past this first.
“I’m just meeting a friend. Is there a problem?”
The woman sighs as she ducks her head down to try and look at him. He shys away, covering his mouth with his hand.
“I just have to write your name down. It’s just for records.”
Really?
“Uh, it’s Oh Sehun.”
She types away on the desktop computer, the clicks and clacks ringing out in the silence.
“And who are you meeting with?”
He looks up this time, giving her a hard stare.
“Why does that matter?”
She had short black hair that stopped before her shoulders, a navy blue uniform on display. She just rolls her eyes, bringing her hands to fold into one another.
“Many residents that live here are famous. I need to make sure you’re not a paparazzi or a fan.”
“She’s no one important.” He lashes out.
She pauses, giving him a puzzled look. He watches as she reaches towards the phone, sirens begin to go off in his head. He reaches over the desk, grabbing her arm. She looks back at him shocked, but he quickly removes the hood, flashing her a smile. That did something.
“I’m sorry. I’m meeting with my friend Jihyo. She just went through the loss of her boyfriend and sent me an alarming text so I’m just checking in on her. This shouldn’t be a problem right…Nayeon?” He looks at her name tag placed neatly on her shirt.
She blushes as he removes his hand from her.
“A-ah yes. Jihyo. I heard about that too. Poor thing,” She bats her eyelashes at him, “That’s so nice you’re checking on her. She hasn’t seen anyone since it happened. You two must be close.”
He chuckles, how far from the truth that was.
“Super close. She’s been stuck in my head for a while.”
The receptionist giggles at that, fidgeting with a pen she picked up.
“She’s lucky someone like you is thinking about her.”
Baekhyun is just too good at this shit. He nods at her before he starts to walk away.
“I’ll be going now. Can’t imagine the state she’s in. Thank you Nayeon.”
“N-No problem. Please stop by whenever you’d like Sehun.”
He almost trips, forgetting the fake alias he gave her. He waves at her sweetly before he presses the button to enter the elevator. Nayeon was still staring at him until the doors closed, and Baekhyun finally let out a sigh of relief. He rubs his eyes harshly, then slapped himself in the face. He needed to focus. It takes him out of it when stupid distractions get in the way of his job. He listens to the small bell-like noise as he stops on the floor he memorized.
This was it. He was going to do this for you, Y/N. Watch the stupid bitch die and come back to you, you who were waiting for him at home. That had a nice ring to it. He couldn’t wait for the phone calls and texts that you would send him before he came home from work, the cuteness and neediness of wanting to see him. Nothing could get in the way of him pursuing you.
He walks towards the door that had 56A engraved into the frame, a gold-ish hue bouncing off of it. He covers his face once more with his hood, reaching his hand into the pocket to make sure he still had everything prepared. He licks his chapped lips as he knocks lightly, then puts his ear on the cold wood to listen for any footsteps.
He draws back from it once he hears a loud obnoxious moan emitting from the other side. He watches as the door knob rattles a couple of times, and finally, it swings open, revealing a depressing sight. The woman didn’t have any makeup on, dark circles decorated underneath her dark brown eyes. She had blemishes scattered over her pale skin, her long black hair tied into a bun. Her sweats were stained with food remnants, crumbs lingering here and there, her shirt filled with wrinkles.
She gives him a frown.
“I already got my food.”
He smiles.
“We forgot something.”
Jihyo elicits another groan, turning around to look inside her apartment.
“I got everything. By the way, the food is terrible. I couldn’t even eat a bite-”
He pushes her limp body back from where she came from, inviting himself in as she scrambles. He slams the door shut behind him, taking off his hood and smirking down at her. He brings out the knife from his pocket, watching how it gleamed in the dark living room. Jihyo raises her hands in front of her face, her voice wavering as she cries out.
“Who are you!?”
Baekhyun scoffs as he gets down at her level, pressing the weapon’s tip to her head.
“You don’t need to know. You have some fucking nerve, thinking you could get away with what you did.”
“What I did? What are you-” She freezes, her eyes widening as she takes him in, “I-I know who you are. You’re the fucking guy that was at Y/N’s apartment. What the fuck are you doing?!”
That put a damper on things. He presses the knife into her head slowly, covering her mouth to mute any screams. Tears run down her dreadful face, her lips trembling in Baekhyun’s palm.
“Jihyo…don’t you know you’re a whore? A sick, disgusting cunt. The world doesn’t need you.”
Just as he’s about to push the blade straight through her puny skull, she bites down on his hand, making Baekhyun drop the knife and hold his hand in pain. Jihyo stands up, but before she does, she grabs his prized possession and points it at him. He tilts his head at her, a smile erupting on his face. This would be fun.
“Get the fuck away from me. I’ll fucking kill you.” She spits out angrily. She doesn’t move from her spot as Baekhyun stands up, massaging his hand from the bite she had given him.
“You’re going to kill me? Okay, I’ll give you a chance,” He raises a finger at her, motioning her to come at him, “If I win, I get to ring your neck and stab that little heart of yours.”
What he didn’t expect was for Jihyo to throw the knife behind her, then run at him at full force, landing a hearty kick to his stomach. He doubles over and stumbles into the cream colored couch. Before he could even react, the small woman grabs a lamp that sat on a little nook beside him, breaking it on his head. He groans in pain, his vision stained red as blood dripped from his eyebrow. What the fuck.
“What the fuck are you? A fucking rabid dog?” Baekhyun raises his hands to defend himself.
Jihyo stands a couple feet away from him now, her hands balled into fists.
“Six years in Taekwondo. Still think you can kill me?”
He can’t stop the giggle he lets out.
“I did martial arts too. Hapkido. Didn’t think I’d ever have to use it until now.”
Jihyo snarls at him, repeating the speedy encounter she landed on his unsuspecting self a moment ago, but this time, he was prepared. He ducked down, rolling himself underneath her, watching as her foot collided with the broken glass. She yelps in pain, but Baekhyun was one step ahead of her. He leaps towards her legs, huddling them together as he throws her onto the ground. Her head bangs on the wooden floor and he quickly crawls up her body and pins her. Jihyo however knees him in between his legs, Baekhyun gritting his teeth together as he slaps her across the face.
She pushes him off, crawling towards her kitchen. He limps after her, his eyes spotting a picture frame that sat on her tv stand. He hurriedly picks it up and throws it at her back, watching as her tiny body contorts in the sudden attack. Baekhyun smiles to himself as he jumps, his weight crushing her. He spins her body around to face him, the left side of her forehead swelling up, her teeth stained with blood. Jihyo tries to kick him again but he just reaches down to stop her movement.
“I think…” He takes a deep breath, wiping the blood from out of his eyes, “I win.”
Jihyo looks frightened for the first time, her mouth hanging open in defeat.
“N-No. I don’t want to die!”
He laughs loudly, throwing his head back.
“You’re so fucking delusional. Did you actually think you’d fucking kill me? I never lose-”
Oh.
Oh.
Her shaky hand holds the forgotten knife that she threw earlier, holding it to his throat.
“Move, and I stab you.” She threatens him precariously.
He brings his hands in the air, not ripping his eyes away from the sharp blade. He removes himself from her body, standing up. She follows suit, keeping the knife in its place.
“I’m going to…call the police. If you make one fucking move on me, I’ll do it.”
Baekhyun nods slowly, walking with her as she makes her way over to the couch. He watches as she dips down to grab her cell phone, her eyes never leaving him. Jihyo looks down at her phone to input her password, and Baekhyun thinks this is it. He actually…lost. He was done for.
He would never be able to see you again, you would know what he did, be disgusted with him.
A lone tear falls from his eye. He pleads.
“Please. Don’t do this.”
The woman looks at him and laughs, blood spitting from her mouth.
“Just a moment ago you were trying to kill me. Are you delusional?”
All of a sudden, a knock makes itself known in the apartment. Both of them look at the door in surprise, Jihyo still holding the phone in her hand, the call still not made.
“Go to the door.”
She presses the knife into his throat a little more, Baekhyun wincing as the flesh breaks. He nimbly walks over to the awaiting person on the other side of the door, Jihyo behind him.
He doesn’t want to answer it. So when he doesn’t do anything once he stands in front of the frame, Jihyo grabs a handful of his hair and yanks his head back. She hisses out,
“Open. The. Door.”
Baekhyun didn’t know what he expected, really. Maybe it was Nayeon, checking in on the situation. She seemed worried about the tenant living here, and obviously made it known that she was attracted to him. He wouldn’t mind seeing one person that liked him before he went to prison anyways. But what he didn’t, honestly, expect was…
You.
You stood there, your eyes wide as you took in the scene in front of you. Baekhyun lets out an audible gasp, his heart breaking in two. This couldn’t be happening. Why the fuck was this happening? How did you get here? When did you get here? Why…why are you here, Y/N?
“What the hell is going on here?” You press anxiously. You don’t move, keeping your eyes on him.
He tries to speak but his voice betrays him.
“I’ll tell you what’s going on, this fucking guy just tried to kill me.”
Jihyo rages out, digging the knife into his throat more. Baekhyun’s pretty sure he’s going to pass out. You look at him, worried, but then you direct your attention behind him, to Jihyo. There was something in the air before it happened, he couldn’t describe what it was. The look of pure hatred floods your face, and before he could register anything else, he’s being flung to the side, Jihyo letting out a screech.
You shut the door behind you, your back to the both of them. Baekhyun covers the wound on his neck, trying to stop the bleeding. You slowly turn around, your white satin dress flowing gracefully as you did so.
“Baekhyun. Tell me what’s going on.”
He stares in disbelief on the ground, watching as you don’t tear your gaze away from Jihyo, who is still holding the knife in her hand. Her eyes bug out, a quick breath exhaled from her.
“I- I…I wasn’t trying to kill her, Y/N. You have to believe me.” Funny how in a pretty obvious situation of what’s going on, he still chooses to lie. But he’s willing to still paint himself as innocent to you, anything than what he actually was.
Jihyo throws her arms in the air, waving the knife around as she gasps loudly.
“Oh come on. He came here and told me he was going to kill me. What happened to believing the victim?”
Baekhyun stutters out, “I’m the victim here. You wouldn’t stop texting me. I came over to stop your persistence of being with me. You attacked me when I told you no.”
You look at him this time, shocked.
“She was texting you?”
Jihyo shakes her head, “I don’t even know him. I wouldn’t do that.”
You laugh this time, looking at her.
“You wouldn’t try and take someone away from me? Isn’t that your whole shtick? Let’s see…you willingly got with my boyfriend, knowing that he was already in a relationship. And I’m supposed to believe you? Jihyo, let’s get one thing straight,” You walked towards her, Jihyo cowering, “I’m the victim here. You will never be the victim.”
She lets her guard down as you spit the last word out, and you snatch the weapon from her hand. Jihyo looks at you stunned, abruptly getting to her knees and bowing her head.
“P-please. I never meant to hurt you. He said he loved me!”
Baekhyun watches in amusement with a sly smirk. He adjusted himself on the ground, leaning on the couch. He didn’t know you had this in you, Y/N. This raw power that only he thought he had concealed. But here you were, knife in hand, showing the whore who was in control here. You weren’t real, no, you were everything that he dreamed about having. You were a monster, just like him. His mother was right.
He saw her in you.
But instead of a terrifying and gruesome beast only made in nightmares, he saw something beautiful.
You’re just like an angel.
So he sits and watches more as you bring your foot to stomp on her head, Jihyo letting a gurgled out scream as her nose collided to the floor. He could hear the snap from where he was, and he laughed at her pain. You crouch, bringing the knife to her chest. You speak so sweetly to her, the words sounding so light and airy rolling of your tongue.
“He didn’t love you. He didn’t love anyone. You don’t get to stand here and tell me that my boyfriend loved you. Who do you think you are? Who the actual fuck, do you think you are telling me you weren’t trying to make a pass on Baekhyun? For the first time since Kyungsoo’s death, I’m happy. And here you are, again, trying to take my happiness away from me. This time, I’m ready. I’m fucking ready to stop you. I deserve to be fucking happy. Fuck you.”
You raise the knife in the air, bringing it towards Jihyo’s chest. But before her demise, you freeze, inches away from the kill. Baekhyun gapes, confused. He crawls over to you, looking at your eyes shake in fear. He smiles at Jihyo, who is just as confused as he was. He places a hand on your back, to which you jump a little, staring at him with teary eyes.
“I’m not a… murderer, Baekhyun.”
He puts his knee on the fallen woman’s throat, a hitched gasp escaping her lips. He gawks at you, trying to camouflage the overwhelming love he felt for you right now.
“Of course you’re not a murderer, Y/N. This poor woman killed herself.”
Your words stumble over each other, as if your mind is trying to understand what you meant.
“What do you mean?”
He gives you a twinkling beam as he rests his hand over yours on the hilt of the knife.
“I mean…Jihyo here was suicidal after Kyungsoo’s death. She couldn’t get over it. The only way to deal with the pain was by killing herself. Do you understand?”
Your once puzzled expression is wiped away with realization. You mimic him quietly, looking down at the assaulted woman whose eyes race between you and him.
“She couldn’t get over it.”
He nods, bringing the knife back up in the air with you.
“Right. She killed herself.”
Like a trance, you repeat it.
“She killed herself.”
He raises his eyebrow as you push his hand off of the weapon, violently pushing the knife into Jihyo’s chest. She arches her back, blood gushing out of her mouth. He stares in amazement as you swiftly pull it out, a smile appearing on your face. Just as he’s about to say something, you surprise him by stabbing the lifeless body once more. Then another. And another. Until finally you plow it deep into her neck, her blood splattering onto your white material.
Baekhyun was stunned. Not only did you initiate the killing yourself, you fucking liked it. It was written on your face. You enjoyed killing Jihyo, the worthless pile of shit that had this coming.
He didn’t think he could be more in love with you; but you proved him wrong, Y/N.
You drop the knife, taking deep breaths as you turn to face him.
“I just killed her-”
He crashes his lips on yours, grabbing your waist to pull you into his embrace. You comply, twisting your hands in his hair, slightly tugging on it. He chuckles darkly into your mouth, to which you pull back and giggle nervously.
“I got paranoid so I followed you here. I’m sorry, I just- I don’t know. I thought you were going to see the hairdresser. I-I thought she lived here and you were coming to meet her-”
Baekhyun shakes his head. “It’s okay.”
You let out a sigh. “It’s okay? It’s okay that I did this, right?”
“It was meant to happen.”
“I think I like you too much, Baekhyun.” You stutter brokenly.
He looks at you adoringly, and nothing was more breathtaking than the view he had of you right now. Blood has covered the side of your cheek, your dress, your hands. Your lips were shaking slightly, and someone might assume that you were in a traumatic state, but the look in your eyes showed complete control. He knew there was something different about you. From the start.  You finally admitted the love you had for him by saving his life. You killed for him.
“That’s my girl.”

Chapter 15: Epilogue
Content warnings: blood, assault, kidnapping
“Are you sure you don’t want any help?”
“I’m good,” Luhan said, adjusting the phone against his ear as he unlocked the front gate. “I’m just going to grab a few things to keep me tied over for the next couple of nights.”
“Geee…” Sehun whined on the other end.
“I can bring stuff over slowly,” Luhan said with a chuckle. “I have this place for a few more weeks, so there’s no rush. You just finish that assignment and you can help me next time.”
There was a huff of air over the speaker followed by a garbled “Fine.”
Luhan laughed at the maknae’s pouting and inserted his key into the front door. “I’ll see you in a bit.”
“See you.”
Luhan hung up and slipped the cell into his pocket before turning the key and pushing into the house. He slipped off his shoes, taking in a deep breath.
Now that he had found his brothers, the loneliness and empty space would get to him quickly. So he squared his shoulders, determined to make fast work of his task and return back to them as soon as possible.
Pain shot through his foot as it came into contact with the bedroom floor and he pulled it up quickly to get a look at it. Blood was soaking his sock around where a piece of glass had embedded itself in his sole, and his brows scrunched in confusion. His eyes sought out the source and found glass covering his floor. The picture frame holding the old photo of him and Feilong had been shattered, the glass spreading in every direction.
“How…?”
Footsteps echoed in the direction he had come from and he spun on his heels as anxiety flared up in him.
“Welcome home,” Irene said with a smirk as she came into view. “We’ve been waiting for you.”
“Irene? What…?” Luhan stopped when her eyes flashed red and memories from the fight came back along with a very familiar presence that had been blocked. He stepped away, hissing in pain as another piece of glass found his foot. “You’re...you’re with the Red Force,” he forced out, trying with everything to reach for the others. “You’ve been playing with us.” Nothing. His powers weren’t even a whisper anymore. He stopped as realization hit him, then took a step forward as anger hit him. “What did you do with Feilong?”
She laughed and smiled, raising her brows. “Did you miss him?” She took a step forward. “He’s been close this whole time. Why don’t you say hello?”
Before he could respond, strong arms were pulling his own back and lifting him off the floor. He tried to turn his head to see his restrainer, hoping her implications were false, but he could just make out Feilong’s familiar features in his peripheral.
“Feilong,” he pleaded. “What are you—?”
Irene’s hand was wrapped around his throat in an instant, cutting him off. “Uh, uh, uh. None of that now,” she said. “Do you have any idea how much my plans have been messed up the past few days? But no more.” She pulled a bottle from her pocket with her free hand and broke off the top, a colorful gas immediately pouring out of it which she brought to his nose. He tried to jerk away, but the hand that was wrapped around his throat grabbed into the hair at the base of his neck, causing tears to prick at his eyes as his lungs filled with the sickening-sweet smell and red began to fill his vision. He could feel his brain slowing and his limbs loosening as the fight left him. For one last time, he tried to send out a warning to anyone he could, but all he could feel was emptiness.
~~~
Chanyeol woke up with a start as Sehun nearly busted down the bedroom door.
“Hyung, have you heard from Luhan?” he asked frantically, and Chanyeol groaned, blinking up at the maknae.
He checked his phone, his brain barely registering the very very early time. “No,” he said, his voice scratching. “Shouldn’t he be home by now?”
“That’s the problem,” Sehun said with a huff. “He went to get things from his house and never came back. No one had been able to get ahold of him and some of the others went to check his house.” More commotion came from the other room and Sehun disappeared from the door to check on it.
Chanyeol rubbed at his face, then crawled out of the bed that he had only been sleeping in for a couple of hours. But it would be better to go find out what was going on now rather than being pulled out of bed later. He stumbled slightly to the door then into the living room where there was complete pandemonium.
Suho stood in the middle instructing everyone who was running about and bringing things into the common area. Chen was seated at the table, busily typing away at his computer and saying random things to Suho.
“What’s going on?” Chanyeol finally asked, noticing as several duffel bags and important items were appearing.
Kai was the first to notice his presence and made his way over, his brows pinched in concern.
“Luhan went missing,” he said.
“What?”
“He went to gather some items from his house while you were on your date and never came back,” Kai explained further. “Some of us went to check on him and his door was open. His room was a wreck and there was glass and blood on the floor.”
“What does that mean? What happened?”
Suho came over and placed his hand on Chanyeol’s shoulder. “It was the Red Force. They found us. We’ll have to scatter tonight.”
Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Anna paced around the room nervously as the doctor examined Kyung Soo. He should have been the doctor treating Kyung Soo from the beginning since he was the man who had been taking care of his health since he was a child, but his uncle didn't allow him to do so. Minseok tried to calm her down, but it didn't work. The doctor was taking his pressure when Chanyeol and Sehun barged into the room. They looked at Kyung Soo, then at her, and then back at Kyung Soo. Chanyeol broke the silence.
“Anna, how hard you fucked him?” He joked, looking at his sleeping friend with fake shock.
“Shut up!” She threw a pillow at him cursing.
"Why do you look so worried? It must be the stress, he can finally rest and recover now, isn't it right doctor?" Chanyeol patted the doctor's back.
"I wouldn't worry too much, he is just sleeping, he needs to rest, let him sleep, when he is ready, he will wake up," He told them to make sure that he is always warm and to have a light meal prepared for when he wakes up.
Despite everybody's insistence, Anna didn't move from his side. Chanyeol, Sehun, and Minseok took turns taking care of her, feeding her, and taking away her attention from her sleeping boyfriend.
"Did you try to kiss him?" Chanyeol asked her, trying to do so himself.
"Stop messing with me you tall idiot" She pushed his head away from Kyung Soo making him fall back, cackling.  She acted mad, but her friend's support was really helpful when dealing with Kyung Soo’s current situation.
Midnight came by and he was still asleep. The doctor visited him during the afternoon and told her that he finally had time to heal, so he was taking his time.
“The drugs are finally out of his system, and after so much uncertainty he is finally able to rest surrounded by his loved ones, Let’s give him one more day…and then we will see” Anna tried to absorb some of his calm and left the room for a while.
Outside, people were dealing with the repercussions of the prince’s kidnapping. Anna had completely forgotten about it.
The people who worked at the castle told her that they had the order to keep quiet about the prince's disappearance. As they expected, Kyung Soo's uncle was putting on a show about his nephew's disappearance, acting worried and participating in the search. The guards that worked for him told Minseok that they had orders to find him and bring his dead body, even if they found him alive.
The Order though, was suspiciously quiet. None of the members from the Order that also participated in the Clan received any information regarding what to do with the situation. If they had to help with the search, support his uncle, treat him as a suspect, or search for a responsible. Nothing.
Some members were worried about how they had already settled to look outside the city, in the forest and buildings surrounding it. Since the decoys sent were already proven as such, they were now searching for the groups of kidnappers that took Kyung Soo out of the castle through the kitchen and killed and injured a bunch of guards with a grenade. Anna's whole body reacted to that. Terrified and guilty. Scared that they were behind their trail.
“No one followed you, You two got into the truck and arrived here alone, they lost you at the passage, They are looking outside the city, but they don’t know where to start,” Minseok told her as soon as he saw her panic.
“What if they get to us?” She needed the assurance that only he could give her.
“If they are close, we will know, We have always lived like this, fearing for the day that they find us, so we are prepared… we live here like rats, we are hard to catch, don’t worry Anna, we take care of each other” Minseok was confident.
“What should I do then?” Minseok’s words made her more anxious since she didn’t have the confidence he had.
“Anna, a long time ago I told you that you were in charge of Kyung Soo, If something happens, you need to take him with you” He held her by the shoulders knowing that she needed the support.
“Take him where?”
“Your house” Anna stared at him with her mouth wide open.
They made her have dinner and then she dashed to their room to check on Kyung Soo.
He was still asleep, with Chanyeol and Sehun talking to him.
“What are you guys doing?” She asked, sitting at the feet of the bed.
“Telling him embarrassing stories about him, checking if he wakes up out of anger,” Sehun told her with a mischievous grin.
“At this point, I’m craving a good punch from him” Chanyeol commented jokingly, but Anna caught the sadness in his voice.
“You guys go to rest, I will stay with him for the rest of the night” They agreed and left with heavy feet.
“Your majesty, you need to hurry up and wake up, If we get attacked, I’m not carrying you on my back, also, everybody misses you…and I’m dead worried, Give me a break Do Kyung Soo” She caressed his head and dropped a kiss on his forehead before taking a shower.
She went to sleep next to him, patting his chest and resting her head on his shoulder.
The next morning after the visit from his doctor, Anna took one of his diaries to read, feeling nostalgic. She lay down next to him and began reading about Kyung Soo’s thoughts about meeting her.
She lay down next to him, holding the diary with one hand and holding his hand with the other.
“Why are you reading my diary?” His sleepy voice asked.
“I was missing your thoughts... Kyung Soo!” She shouted, throwing the diary across the room.
“You woke up!” She began examining his face and body clumsily, making him giggle.
“Anna... I think I'm fine now” He said coughing.
“You woke up!” She still couldn’t believe her eyes.
“Yes, and I think… I think my memories are back ... My head feels different and I don't find emptiness when thinking about the past, about me, you, our friends, everything is back, it’s a lot” He turned around hiding his face on the pillow, releasing a tired sigh.
“What about what happened this last month?” She whispered, hoping that she wouldn’t cause him more discomfort.
“That is still here… It’s like I fell in love with you twice, and both times are saved in my brain now, very vividly thank god” His face was still hidden, but she saw his red ears. She kept quiet, rubbing his nape and back.
“I’m thirsty and hungry” He faced her, pouting and still blushing. Anna jumped off the bed and dashed down the hall calling her friends.
When Minseok, Chanyeol, and Sehun walked into the room, Kyung Soo was out of bed waiting for them, ready to hug them and welcome them back. As they greeted each other and shared some tears, Anna went to prepare a light lunch for her boyfriend.
Kyung Soo’s time was consumed by his friends and girlfriend. He was genuinely happy to be back, so much so that talking and laughing with his friends made his head hurt less and his body less tired.
Around midnight, his friends were gone and Anna was helping him get ready for bed, his body still tired and weak.
It was still strange how he felt. Because as soon as he woke up he thought how much he missed her. But looking back, she was there the whole time. And the memories he had from the previous month, felt more like scenes of a movie he had seen.
He couldn’t stop smiling by remembering Anna breaking into his room, kissing him in his sleep, and talking to him for hours just so he could understand what was happening. But thinking about her taking him out of the castle, having to do things she never thought she would have to do, made him feel horrible. Kyung Soo waited for her to change into her pajama, which was an old T-shirt of his, and as soon as she got into bed, he apologized.
“I wish you hadn't had to do that for me, I know how hard it is, and how it never matters who’s the person you are attacking, it always hurts and it makes you doubt everything…I”
“Kyung Soo, I haven’t doubted anything” She interrupted him.
“It was shocking, and it left a bitter taste in me, but If I had to do it again If I had to do it right now, I wouldn’t think twice, I would do anything to defend you, as I know you would do anything to defend me” Anna was right. And although in the future she could do the same, or something worse, Kyung Soo wasn't going to ask her to do something that he couldn't do. Like staying outside all this.
"I can't believe you came back " He commented, changing the subject. Anna looked at him pouting with her eyebrows raised in wonder.
"You came back here, you were leaving, I did everything so you could flee the country" Kyung Soo regretted saying that as soon as he saw Anna's anger, or worse, disappointment.
"You did everything? What the hell does that mean? What did you do?" Kyung Soo didn't answer immediately and tried to organize his answer to not make everything worse.
"I asked someone so they could speed the process, I wanted you to leave before all of this happened" He kept it simple.
"All this made me forget how you kept me out of your plans and sent me away" She gestured angrily with her arms. Kyung Soo could see her anger, but also there was some ironic tone in her voice that showed some playfulness. He didn't relax, but he knew how to match her energy now.
"To be fair, leaving was your plan, from the beginning…I just… helped… Are you mad?" He also knew when he had to shut up and play the fool.
"No I'm not mad, I'm resentful because all that was useless, I'm still here, I'm part of the Clan now and I'm not leaving your side, When something is meant to happen it's just going to " He dropped his head, defeated.
"If I ask you to leave and go to your parents… " She interrupted him again.
"Don't even try it or you are going to lose your girlfriend but I'm still going to stay here" Kyung Soo lifted his head, offended.
"Don't say that! You can't break up with me in this situation, I just woke up from a coma! " His fake outrage made her laugh. For both, it felt like ages since they laughed like that.
Anna was less annoyed now. But since they were clearing things out, and he finally had his memory back, it was his time now to bring some old issues to the table.
"You started spreading copies of the forbidden books around the city" Anna stared at him with irony.
"It's not a competition for who is hiding more things " She joked avoiding his stare. He sat closer to her and circled her waist with his arm, kissing her shoulder.
"I'm not competing, just bringing some issues… you have no idea how risky that was"
"I was very aware" She was still avoiding his stare, but still enjoying his touch.
"I'm sure… I'm not mad though, I wasn't even that surprised, I still remember what I wrote in my diary that day, although your approach was dangerous and slightly reckless,  you weren't doing something very different from me, Minseok called you a book terrorist, said we were a couple made in heaven, and I agree" Anna finally turned around between his arms, resting her hands on his chest.
"I think he is right, and I like that, book terrorist… I wanted to rattle things up before leaving" Kyung Soo liked how shy she looked, fidgeting with the collar of his T-shirt.
"You agree that we are a couple made in heaven too?" He whispered in her ear.
"I do,  despite our different upbringings, we think alike, we behave alike, which gives me more reasons to nag you for not telling me about the Clan earlier" Kyung Soo laughed loudly, pushing her on the bed, straddling her.
"I'm so very sorry, next time I form a group of rebels and terrorists you are going to be the first to know"
"Your majesty, I'm hoping that this is the first and last time that you have to go through this " Anna blushed under him, caressing his upper arms.
"Anna, don't call me that, when you say it it doesn't annoy me, quite the opposite, and the doctor said that I had to take it slow," Kyung Soo said with little resolve, but knowing that he had to be strong.
"You are right… Then let's go to bed, you had a long day " She cradled him between her arms, pressing him to her chest and kissing his forehead. Kyung Soo released a long sigh, rubbed his face on her chest, and fell asleep.
Kyung Soo regained all his strength and health after a couple of days of rest.
He was a very obedient patient, although he held a bunch of meetings from the comfort of his bed. Anna didn't even try to stop him.
Now that he was back to normal, everybody had one less thing to worry about. Every meeting was about what to do now, that with his disappearance the Crown was vulnerable. Everybody agreed that it was time to speed things up. The silence of the Crown and the ineptitude of his uncle made everything more unpredictable. Allowing Kyung Soo's uncle to take the throne was dangerous and it could take them several steps back. In one of the meetings Kyung Soo offered the option of going back to the castle and taking his position, but it was received very badly by his friends. Anna only stared at him from across the room and he knew that doing so would cost him their relationship.
"Kyung Soo, we have talked about this, Your uncle is currently looking for your body, if you go back alive, he is going to make sure to change that, and becoming the king doesn't assure our success, you are out of the castle, going back now is a risk" Minseok explained patiently.
"I think we should start forming and arming small groups in the main city and the surroundings. There's armament and more coming from the north… we are ready to start" Chanyeol commented with some doubt but the few heads around him were nodding.
"I always knew this was the only way to do it, but I always hoped for a non-violent way… We have often spoken about how now is the right time to do it since with my parents ' death and my disappearance the Crown is weak, so we need to start moving… We are going to do as Chanyeol said, form small groups in different neighborhoods, and make sure that it's only people from the Clan, and properly trained to at least hold a gun, We will see who joins us as we move forward, same with the cities surrounding, call the main people involved, we will hold a meeting tomorrow so we can start moving" Everybody around him stood up and left the room except for Anna.
"Are you hating that you don't have a special duty" He joked, forgetting some of the tension.
"You are wrong, Minseok gave me one a while ago" Kyung Soo's frown was comical. She walked closer to him, dropping the need to mess with him. He didn't need more stress.
"He told me that I was in charge of you" He laughed shyly as she played with his ear.
"Then I'm in good hands"
"Loving hands" She added, pinching his cheek.
That night was turning into a sleepless one. Because after making love countless times, taking a bath, and then repeating, they were still wide awake.
Kyung Soo invited her for a walk. They couldn't leave the building, but it was big enough to walk around and get tired. She accepted, put warm clothes in both of them, and held his hand so he could guide her.
This was the first time she took the time to walk around their hideouts, it was also the first time she took the time to look at the paintings adorning the walls.
"We have been collecting them since we formed the Clan, Some of them were locked down like the books, others ready to be burned, Chanyeol and Sehun took great pleasure in stealing some from different houses that I had to visit as the prince and like that on and on, the idea was to protect history and free speech however we could" Just like everybody, Anna thought, these paintings were survivors.
They climbed a narrow ladder to the upper floor, Kyung Soo wanted to show her some murals that survived the coup more than a hundred years ago. Since it was late it was safer than doing it during the day, and they were still hidden by the state of the building.
They had to dodge some hazardous door frames and rotten wood floors, but they finally made it to the main hall of the second floor where the mural was.
Anna was taking in the whole wall when she heard a rather loud whisper behind them.
"Your majesty" Someone called from the same door they got in a couple of minutes ago. Before she could say anything, Kyung Soo was running to the door, taking a small gun from his back pocket.
"Get to the floor!" He roared. Anna saw the guy raise his hands and drop to his knees. He was wearing a military uniform but looked younger than them.
"Don't move" Kyung Soo ordered, walking behind him and pointing the gun at the back of his head.
"Are you alone?" He asked.
"Yes, your majesty" The guy looked confused. He didn't resist, but despite the confusion, there was a strange expression in his eyes. She suspected that despite him calling Kyung Soo Your Majesty, he wasn't necessarily on his side.
"Kyung Soo we should…" Before she could finish her sentence Kyung Soo hit him in the back of the head with his gun and the guy dropped heavily on the floor unconscious.
"You read my mind," She added.
"I know, help me carry him downstairs" Kyung Soo lifted him from under his armpits as she held him from his knees. The guy wasn't very heavy, it surprised her how light he was.
"He must be just a cadet, let's take him down, We need all the information he can give us" He ended with a dark tone.
"What if he doesn't want to collaborate?" She asked, suspecting what his answer could be.
"Anna, in this kind of situation, everybody collaborates, even against their will" She didn't comment on it.
They took the guy to the first empty room they found. It was quite late so no one saw them get in. They didn't want to alarm too many people. Anna ran to Minseok's room and on her way she woke up Sehun and Chanyeol and brought the three to check on the guy they kidnapped.
Kyung Soo begged Anna to leave the room so they could interrogate the guy. She wanted to be informed, but the desperation in his voice told her that he really didn't want her there.
"I don't want you to see me doing any of this," He told her, grabbing her face with firm hands.
“Please Anna, wait in our room, I will be there in an hour” Anna knew way too many stories about how the Crown conducted their interrogations. She suspected the Clan wasn’t different. She didn’t want to see Kyung Soo like that either. She was sure she wasn’t going to hate him, but he would hate himself.
She grabbed his hands, kissed them both, and walked away.
Kyung Soo didn’t come back an hour later as he promised.
She didn’t leave the room as he said, she was scared of what she could hear if she had stood outside the room where they were locked.
The rumor of them capturing a guard from the Crown had already spread. And since everybody in charge was locked in that room, everybody asked her for information. She shared what she knew.
“Should we start preparing to evacuate?” One of the members asked her. All eyes were on her. They were expecting her orders. They trusted her orders. So she pondered it for a moment.
"We will wait for what information they can get, The worst scenario will be that, so let's be ready, we may need to leave this place and we need to be quick" Everyone agreed with her. She gave orders to some of the members to go to the city and prepare a safe place for the people who were currently hiding from the Crown. She also got together with some people so they could arrange a place where the rest could hide. There were currently around 70 people down there who needed a safe place to go.
Everyone went to do what they were told to and Anna was left alone in the main hall staring at the ceiling.
“You were made for this” She heard from behind her.
Kyung Soo was walking towards her, his face covered in sweat and his shirt unbuttoned. His comment sounded satisfied but he looked terrible. He apologized for being late and held her hand.
“We need to leave, he was sent here to keep an eye on the place, they are going to come and pick him up tomorrow night, we need to empty this place by then,” He told her before she could ask.
“Are you alright?” She asked him since it was the first thing that she cared about. Kyung Soo chuckled before answering.
“I’m alright, My head hurts and that room was too hot, but we got what we needed” He didn’t look at her as he answered.
“What is going to happen with him?”
“We are not sure yet, the best option is to take him with us, he already saw me and Minseok, we need to protect at least his cover, let’s get everybody together after they are done preparing, hopefully, we will be gone by noon” Anna had to force him to look up at her.
“Kyung Soo, whatever you did there, it was necessary, Now we can all be safe ok?” He nodded.
“Where’s the rest?” She asked.
“Chanyeol stayed with him, Minseok is getting ready to leave and investigate and Sehun is taking a break” There was silence as she caressed his hand.
“Go get showered, I will prepare our things then” Kyung Soo looked at her with a tense grimace, breathing quickly.
“They could rid this thing in seconds, At this point there are too many variables, If they send that man here it means that there’s a group at the Crown that at least suspects us, or maybe just my uncle knows and could use this to take over,” His eyes grew wider as he spoke, a slight quivering in his voice.
“Kyung Soo, listen to me, from now on, we are out of this, Minseok and the rest will take care of this now, the Clan is infiltrated in the Crown and in the citizens, we are more, we have the same chances from before, but now I’m taking you with me, we still need to protect you, and with your uncle searching for your head, you are still at risk” She pulled him with her to their room and he stayed quiet.
As Kyung Soo went into the shower, Anna began packing a small bag. They didn’t need a lot. A change of clothing and some food. But after looking around the room, she felt the need to pack his diaries and pictures. Kyung Soo came out of the bathroom drying his hair, naked and with puzzled eyes.
“We don’t need that!” He shouted as he saw her shove the last diary in her backpack.
“Yes we do, Not only this could give away a lot of information, these are your memories and thoughts and also ours, I will not have them reading them or destroying them” Anna kept ignoring his complaints as she fitted the diary into her backpack.
“By the way, you must know this but you never brought it up… I read your diaries, not all of them, but the ones where you wrote about me…sorry” Kyung Soo’s face flushed furiously red. He was speechless, which was a very amusing scenery considering his current naked stage.
“In my defense…I really love you” She said, trying to save herself.
“Anna… this is so embarrassing, I’m sure I sounded like a damn teenager talking and writing about you, and so cheesy too!” Anna laughed for the first time and what felt like ages.
“It was adorable and so loving, If I love you so much now it’s in big part for that” Kyung Soo’s face, ears, and neck were still red, but he wasn’t aghast anymore.
“Go get dressed, we need to get together again to give the last info” Kyung Soo nodded, stole a short kiss, and quickly got dressed.
Everybody received the news with little surprise. If they heard and trusted Anna as they did before, when it came to Kyung Soo they look as if god was guiding them. Kyung Soo stayed calm. There wasn’t a lot to say since they were prepared for any eventuality.
Just when they asked him what was going to happen to him, he noticed that he had no idea. He looked at Anna and she took a step forwards.
“I will take him with me, by night we will be in my hometown, he will stay with me there, hidden” Kyung Soo tried to object. If Anna was planning on taking him to her parents ’ house, he had to stop her right there. But Minseok stopped him.
“I planned everything, you will be safe there, all eyes around you are from the Clan…except for your parents in law…you will need to deal with them” Before he could argue with his friend, Minseok started talking.
“As from now, we are leaving this place to not come back, stay together as much as you can, remember that we, the people, are the ones who can turn our lives into freedom and beauty, with the democracy that we will gain let us make that life possible, let’s keep fighting to free our country, to tear down barriers, ignore greed, hate, and intolerance, let’s always stay together and in touch, pay attention to everything, see you soon” Kyung Soo forgot about what his friend had just told him and celebrated Minseok’s words with the rest.
They all exchanged quick See you soon’s and Take care and one by one began evacuating the place through different entrances.
Minseok took them to a wing of the building that she didn’t know. It had clearly seen better days, but now the wood on the floor was covered in moss and the paint on the walls was falling. From under an old flag, Minseok uncovered a motorcycle.
“Hope you know how to ride one of these Anna” As any kid raised in the countryside, she learned how to drive as a child.
“It’s a six-hour drive from here to your parent's house, You can’t use the highway so it’s going to be long” Anna knew this, the map of their route was in her back pocket.
“No one asked my opinion in this matter” Kyung Soo interjected, sulking next to the motorcycle.
“Not needed, Minseok and I planned this a while ago” That didn’t make him feel better.
“You understand that this could put your parents at risk right?” He commented dryly.
“Yes I know, but I also know that’s the safest place because we will be surrounded by people from the Clan” She didn’t try to stay calm. If it was necessary she would carry Kyung Soo on her shoulder.
“Kyung Soo, you can complain later, let's move” Minseok grabbed his hand and shoved the keys of the motorcycle on it.
Anna was sure he knew better. Without words, Kyung Soo climbed into the vehicle with his backpack on the front and waited for Anna to arrange her bags. Minseok patted his shoulder and promised that they would meet soon. Kyung Soo brought him in for a hug and as soon as he let go he initiated the engine.
Every hour that passed felt like an eternity. Every sound was a possible threat. Anna’s hands were numb after driving for three hours, and Kyung Soo wasn’t better. She kept staring at the clouds praying for clear skies and checked the tank every hour. A full tank would be enough to make it, but that didn’t give her calm. The sun was setting as they entered the familiar main street of her town. There were a few people on the street since there were a couple of minutes left until curfew. Maybe she was being paranoid but she felt as if everyone knew it was them. Although she knew none of them presented a menace. Knowing that they were in her town gave her some peace. Her house was ten minutes away, and they could be safe for now.
She drove the motorcycle into the garden, her heart biting scarily fast. She had to say goodbye to all that once and now she was back under such bizarre circumstances.
She parked behind the house and hid the vehicle behind some bushes. Kyung Soo spoke after hours of silence.
“What now?” He asked.
“Now…let’s go meet my parents” She grabbed his cold hand and walked around the house to the entrance. She still had the key to the door but decided to knock.
She knocked once, using her signature nock. Four quick taps followed by two slower ones. She heard some loud noises inside the house and the wood cracking as someone dashed to the door.
In a second, her father’s face was there, a breath away from her.
“Anna, what are you doing here?” He spoke first. Thankfully.
“Dad,  we need to hide” She answered, her voice trembling. She saw how his face distorted as he noticed the man behind her.
“Is that the prince?” He whispered, she could barely hear him.
“Yes” She kept it simple. His father looked at her with wide eyes. His tone was the same tone he used when he found her doing something wrong as a child. Amazed by the intricacy of the act but still furious.
“Anna what did you do?”
|| Epilogue ||
After 15 long tiring days training the new class of royal guards, Jungkook is finally getting to go home and get a much needed rest for the next week. It’s 10 pm as he makes it back to his home in the family wing of the palace.
He and Luna have no family plans any time soon, but Jungkook had been begging for a bigger room since he first got his gun license. After Minseok’s arrest and subsequent death, his room had been cleared out and the King offered Jungkook the room. Jungkook being the big bunny eyed persuader he is tried to push for a room that was even bigger. The King gave in and let Jungkook and Luna move into a 3 bedroom home in the family wing of the palace.
That left Minseok’s old room free which gave Jungkook’s brother, Junghyun the opportunity to return to living on palace grounds. Of course he had some strict requirements that basically resulted in the entire room being gutted and fully renovated and refurnished. In the end, the room looked nothing close to how it was when Minseok was there and that made Junghyun, and Jungkook who visits often, more comfortable.
The details surrounding Minseok’s death remain unclear, at least to the public. The spell Sunyoung put on Minseok was one only meant to bring him within an inch of his life. She knew he would be completely weak and fragile by the time he made it through trial and to sentencing. Any punishment he would face would be too much and he’d be bound to die after a short while.
That’s not quite how things happened though.
A few days had passed after Jungkook’s final visit with Minseok before anyone realized he was paralyzed from the neck down. Doctors couldn’t figure out what type of illness was causing all of his symptoms. Being choked by Jungkook’s burning hand paired with the rapid deterioration caused by Sunyoung’s spell, Minseok was unable to make a sound. No matter how hard he tried, nothing would come out of his mouth. He couldn’t move, he couldn’t speak, and he could barely see.
Doctors eventually came to the conclusion that there was no quality of life left for Minseok. He was a vegetable being kept alive by machines. A choice had to be made. Jungkook ended up being the one to make that choice. He was the only one who happened to answer the phone that day.
There was a small mention of Minseok’s death in the news, but no one seemed too phased by it. Most people felt he got what he deserved. No one knew how he really met his demise, but the King knew it was more than it seemed.
The King personally went to Sunyoung’s house to deliver the news. Really, he wanted her to finally reveal what she did. She didn’t at first but eventually told him of the spell she used. Later on, they learned what Jungkook had done in the hospital.
Sunyoung talked the King out of losing his mind and he made them both promise to never speak of what they had done again. Minseok may have been public enemy number one, but there are still laws of the land and the King would have no choice but to heavily punish his best friend and his best shield.
The King also offered Sunyoung a place to stay at the palace. Everyone has missed having her around and she would be welcomed back with open arms. As much as she loved living there and being surrounded by her sons and best friends, she found an independence on her own that she’s happy with. She’s grown attached to her little home. However, now she can visit as she pleases with Minseok being gone. She feels less isolated from her boys and that’s all she could ask for.
Luna survived four seemingly never ending years of law school and graduated second in her class. She was only bested by her friend Maria who was one of the first people Luna met on campus. They became fast friends and helped each other survive the never ending study sessions and sleepless nights before exams.
After graduating, Luna decided she wanted to visit home, her human home. She knew things would be much different since she was last there years ago, but she just wanted to see her parent’s house. She was feeling nostalgic so Jungkook accompanied her back to the human world.
The home where Luna grew up had been left sitting abandoned. The yard is overgrown and a few of the windows have been boarded, likely due to looters or squatters. It’s far from what it was when she was younger. Yet right near the front porch someone left a large flower pot blooming with roses. Upon closer inspection they realized the roses had been watered recently. Luna feared that someone may actually be living in the house until they were approached from behind by a man who seemed to blend in with the night shadows.
Kai, the doctor Luna’s adopted parents found who seemed to know a lot about vampires, was the one who had Luna on a special vitamin that was meant to suppress her vampire characteristics. He recognized Luna before she recognized him which resulted in a short standoff between him and Jungkook before Luna finally realized who he was.
Kai learned of Luna’s parents death and her disappearance and had been searching for answers for a long time. No one knew where Luna had disappeared to, and having known what she is and how powerful she could be, Kai thought she either died as well or joined whoever was responsible for her being part vampire.
He went back to Korealis and learned of the Saakhan operation and the take down of the entire organization. Kai couldn’t be sure that Luna was involved in any of this, but he thought there’d be a chance. He’d been watching over her parents house hoping one day Luna would return.
Luna was amazed that he found her and even more delighted to finally get answers to a lot of questions she had been holding on to. Kai was happy to tell her everything over a glass of wine at his home. She and Jungkook went to his vampire friendly home just a block away and listened to every bit of information he would give them.
Kai happened to be in the human world researching the relations between humans and vampires. He had no idea that he would come across Luna who was both. There’s been no record of anyone ever being part human and part vampire. He told her parents that he couldn’t guarantee results, but he would try whatever he could to help Luna keep control of the power she didn’t even know she had.
The vitamin Kai created for her was simply a multivitamin diluted in blood and sealed in a gel tablet. He’s the only one that could supply them with the vitamin so they had kept contact with him frequently over the years. When Luna moved out on her own she failed to keep up with her vitamins. Her mom told her where to get it but Luna couldn’t be bothered. That’s why Kai began to get worried. The last time he spoke to her mom was a few short days before she was killed. She told Kai she had no idea Luna wasn’t keeping up with her vitamins and she would talk to her. Unfortunately, when she spoke to Luna again she never got the chance to bring it up.
The vitamin was meant to keep her human side strong enough to handle her vampire side, and keep her vampire side fed with blood so it wouldn’t cause any other adverse effects. The blood was also keeping her portal from growing throughout her life. Once she stopped, her portal grew which ended up threatening her life.
Kai remains living in the human world continuing his research and keeping the roses he placed on the front porch of the house healthy. He express great relief and happiness to know that Luna is still alive and well. Jungkook also offers Kai a place to stay at the palace if he ever wants to visit.
Luna got closure, more than she thought she would, when she talked to Kai. For the first time in years she truly felt like she could leave her human past behind. She’ll always miss her parents, but they’ll always be in her heart as she fully embraces her life as a vampire. Finishing law school and closing the human chapter of her life filled her with a new energy.
Soon after returning to Korealis, Luna passed her bar exam and jumped right into working. She found a job as an attorney for the Min’s law firm. She didn’t want to seem like she was using her connections to Yoongi as a free pass to a good job so she tried to keep it quiet, even from Jungkook. The only reason why she chose the Min’s firm was because there was no other law firm that came close to how successful and prestigious theirs is. It wasn’t until she got the job that she told Jungkook about it. He was over the moon with excitement. He had a moment where he pouted about her not saying anything before, but it was short lived as he went right back to praising her for accomplishing yet another one of her goals.
Jungkook has managed to find himself falling more and more in love with Luna each day. He isn’t sure how, but he can feel it. No matter what happens he always knows he can go home and feel happier than ever just from seeing her face.
Except the time they had a big fight that resulted in Luna staying in Taehyung’s room for a week. Jungkook had started to get suspicious of one of her classmates that she spent a lot of time studying with. His defense was that he trusts her, just not her classmate. He wanted to know everything she was doing when she was studying. If he felt she was gone too long he would call her to check in. It drove her crazy to the point that she accused him of being an insecure toddler and told him he was starting to act like Minseok.
Jungkook didn’t like that and a shouting match ensued. She finally got fed up and packed a few of her things and left while shouting at him for giving her so much stress when she has finals coming up. Somehow she ended up hiding out in Taehyung’s room. It took a week before Jungkook discovered her there and tried to apologize since she hadn’t been answering his calls and texts. She tried to put up a front and stay mad, but she also began apologizing to him for the things she said.
When Luna grabbed her things and went back to Jungkook’s room she was greeted by a bouquet of flowers surrounded by gifts. He had set it up the day after their fight hoping she’d come home soon. Amongst the gifts were a pair of noise canceling headphones to help her tune out distractions while she studies, a new outfit for her to wear to her internship that she was set to start at the beginning of the new term, and a breathtaking silver necklace adorned by the finest obsidian she’s ever seen.
Of course this incident wasn’t immune from the other 6 guys teasing. Taehyung shared all of the information and the next time they all saw Luna and Jungkook together the teasing began immediately. The guys are happy they made up, but they continue to refer to the fight as the “Fight for Obsidian” which embarrasses Jungkook to no end. Not just because of the teasing, but because the rest of the guys knew Jungkook was already having the piece custom made before their fight, and while Luna wasn’t returning his calls he was afraid she was gone for good and he would have no use for the one of a kind piece with her name engraved on the inside. He was fighting very hard to keep her, and the entire brotherhood knew it. At the same time Luna never felt so unconditionally loved. The Fight for Obsidian ended with their bond being stronger.
Another fight came when Park Hyungwon tried to make a run for it from the work camp he had been sentenced to. He had been concocting a plan for about two years since he was imprisoned. It wasn’t his plan A or plan B, and it certainly wasn’t his plan C, but it was a plan.
Hyungwon knew that trying to convince Luna once more to take his side wouldn’t work. Not after the last time, and especially not while she’s dating a loyal shield to the Kim’s. Instead she, and Jungkook, found themselves high on his enemy list.
This time he decided to try something he hadn’t yet. He wanted to talk to Jimin. Though they had never had a conversation with one another, Hyungwon thought there would be a chance that he could talk Jimin into joining him in taking back the throne for their family. He also wanted to ask Jimin why he had chosen to carry on without taking the throne. Their stories are similar so he couldn’t understand why Jimin didn’t have the same thirst for power as him.
The issue with Hyungwon’s plan started at the very beginning when he tried to escape the work camp. He had to work alone since all Saakhans remained separated from each other and everyone else imprisoned. It was to prevent the possibility of them recruiting prisoners and possibly starting an uprising.
When Hyungwon saw an opening while being escorted from his room to the food hall, he tried slipping away from the guards and out of his cuffs. He had a well thought out route that he had worked on for months. So well thought out that he was able to pull off the escapes from the guards escorting him.
Unfortunately for Hyungwon, he was unaware that the guard working the perimeter of the prison at that time was a legend in his own right. A legend who has worked at that prison filled with the most dangerous offenders for more than a millennia. A legend who, along with Jungkook, is one of few people with a gun license. He’s been nicknamed Tiger by those who know him, shortened from Eye of the Tiger because he never missed a thing.
This day way was no exception. The moment Hyungwon stepped foot outside of the building he was quickly shot down. The first shot was a warning. Hyungwon was stunned but kept trying to run anyway. The second shot was to kill. And so he was.
When the news broke, Luna and Jungkook went to check on Jimin to see how he was doing. Not only was Hyungwon’s death reported, but also all of the plans he had written out in his cell. Plans that included what he would do in the event Jimin refused to work with him. It was unsettling for Luna so she was afraid Jimin would be having a hard time.
Jimin had assumed Hyungwon would try escaping since the moment he was captured. He spent the last couple of years just waiting for the news to come out that Hyungwon had gotten away. He spent the last couple of years constantly looking over his shoulder everywhere he went. Even with learning the details of how Hyungwon wanted to torture him in various ways if he refused to play along, Jimin still hadn’t felt so relieved when he learned that he was dead. He could finally breathe again and carry on living his life. Seeing how relieved he was made Luna feel much better too. Hyungwon was sitting in hell with Minseok and Jimin and Luna were finally free of fear.
After that things have been peaceful in the kingdom. It’s just the way things were before the threat of Saakhan Venom had haunted Korealis once again. Jungkook was promoted to head shield and finds himself spending a lot of time training new recruits and coordinating emergency operations in the event they’re needed. It’s the position Minseok previously held but did absolutely nothing with. It’s a demanding job, but it’s nothing Jungkook can’t handle.
Since he’s been in the position the entire royal guard has been much more efficient and well trained. Not to mention the shields and guards have all been much happier working under the direction and leadership of Jungkook. Something he wasn’t sure he was capable of, but like anything else, he excelled.
Tonight however, is the last day of work before a week of vacation for Jungkook and Luna. Jungkook has one more task to complete the following day, and by the evening he and Luna will begin their first big vacation together at a private resort nestled beautifully on the beach. The King has ensured that the resort will remain free of anyone from the general public while they’re there. That meant the King renting out the entire place as well as making sure all amenities are covered.
They will leave the next morning with a convoy of the royal family, personnel, and the closest friends to the Kim’s. In the afternoon, the grand ballroom of the resort overlooking the water will be filled with many people and the only tv station in the kingdom allowed to live broadcast major royal events. At the end of it all is when the vacation will will begin.
Jungkook won’t admit that he’s only taking advantage of this event’s location in order to persuade his way into a vacation. Since Jin will be staying there as well it was the perfect excuse for Jungkook to have some free time with Luna, especially since they haven’t gotten much since before she started law school.
When they arrive at the resort, Luna is excited and in awe at how beautiful it is. No detail was overlooked when the place was decorated for what’s being anticipated as the biggest royal event in centuries. Right as they walk into the lobby they’re greeted with a large sign adorned with flowers and pink ribbons that brings joyous smiles to Luna and Jungkook’s faces.
Welcome to the Royal Wedding of His Majesty Prince Kim Seokjin and Ahn Hyejin
Tumblr media
Genre: Scarlet Heart Ryeo!AU, Time Travel!AU, Alternate History, Royalty!AU
Pairing: OC x EXO OT9
Summary:  This isn’t Gwen’s time. She was from the modern era, with technology and electricity. But during a solar eclipse, she’s transported back into a previous life in a time and place she does not know. Now, as the foreign daughter of a merchant living in a prince’s household, she must tread carefully, watch her back, and guard her heart. But with the princes locked in a battle over the throne, the chances of her making it out alive might disappear.
Part: 1 I 2 I 3
                                        ********
The bright sun felt warm against Gwen’s skin. Chae Ryung half-heartedly chastised her about burning her face, but Gwen hardly gave a listen. It felt like it had been years since she’d simply stopped and took in the light. All she ever did was go to work, do her schoolwork, and watch dramas. She never really took much time for simply… being. After a minute or so, Chase Ryung convinced her to keep walking through the courtyard, but she still went slow, taking in everything.
The other servants would stop in the middle of their work and glance at Gwen in a fashion they might have thought was sneaky, but was, in fact, fairly obvious. Some gave looks of concern, others, it felt like, of awe. Gwen ran her fingers through her hair, the red catching in the sunlight. She stuck out more here than she ever did back home and it made her stomach queasy.
“So, Chae Ryung,” Gwen finally said, “what is it that I usually do during the day?”
“All day?” she echoed. She pursed her lips side to side as she thought. “Mostly you keep Lady Hae company. She’s a bit lonely as Prince Suho’s wife. You’re the closest to her station here.”
Suho. An interesting name for a prince. I remembered Papa inquiring after the pale but beautiful woman in ornate clothing. “And she’s sick?”
Chae Ryung nodded sorrowfully. After looking over her shoulder, she lowered her voice as she leaned in. “Some are worried that she doesn’t have much longer and the prince still doesn’t have an heir.”
“Is it that bad?”
Chae Ryung nodded again. Gwen’s heart went out to the beautifully tragic woman. In the single moment she’d met the Lady of the household, Gwen could tell that she had a kind heart. The look of worry and concern was etched in her mind, not a single twitch giving away possible deception. Spending her days with Lady Hae didn’t seem like too terribly a time. Perhaps she could be another person to lean on, to help Gwen when she stumbled. Because she would certainly be stumbling every other step in this place.
Gwen and Chae Ryung wandered around the grounds for hours, the latter filling Gwen in on what she couldn’t put together for herself.
Apparently, this Gwen had had a tendency to be a bit rambunctious, taking liking to archery just as much as needlework. Often, she would be caught joining in the servant boys in whatever rough game they were playing that day. Not exactly a good look for the daughter of a wealthy merchant. It had to be a comical sight, the horrified looks this girl must have produced from the other women around the household as a child. But over the last few years, she’d calmed to be a bit more demure. Chae Ryung went into explaining the wide gray area Gwen was given as an outsider. Though this girl knew the rules of society, she was able to bend them ever so slightly.
Excellent.
Coming up on the path was a pond, round and expanding, the edges lined with tall grass and fresh flowers that gave off calming scents. A family of little ducks floated on top of the clear water. Fish in bright colors of oranges and yellows swam freely, their tails creating the slightest ripples on the surface. As they walked around the water, Chae Ryung described a beautiful gazebo that this Gwen apparently loved to hide away in when she wanted to be alone. Disappointingly, though, the gazebo was already occupied by the Prince and Lady Hae.
Looking like a happy but conservative couple, they drank tea together and spoke softly. Prince Suho smiled at his wife as he brought the teacup to his lips, but as his eyes drifted over to the spot where Gwen stood, the smile changed.
It deepened, almost. An uncomfortable feeling settled in Gwen’s stomach. She smiled back, though, and waved, to remain polite. She was probably reading into things or misunderstanding them. Prince Suho held back a laugh before turning back to his wife. She still didn’t fully understand the dynamics of this world and could easily misinterpret his actions. And her head still slightly throbbed, so that could be clouding her thoughts as well.
“It’s inappropriate to stare at a married couple’s private moments,” a high voice snipped.
Confused, Gwen turned to find an elegantly dressed girl close to her age. Or, rather, this body’s age since this Gwen was a few years younger than the body she’d left behind.
This new girl’s face was pretty, but it was destroyed by the snobbish and self-satisfied look she wore. Chae Ryung bowed deeply, but Gwen stayed erect. Bowing was not something that came as second nature to her and she didn’t want to do it for just anyone. Not surprisingly, this defiance deepened the annoyance on the girl’s face even more. Sensing danger, Chae Ryung forced Gwen into a bow.
“Greetings, Your Highness,” Chae Ryung said with a shaky voice. She gave Gwen a pointed glance that was ignored.
“Apparently, not only have you forgotten your memories, but the few manners you ever had as well,” her highness sniffed. “I would be happy to be your teacher. Maybe we can make you a more respectful person this time around.”
“Perhaps we have two different definitions of respect.”
It was subtle, but the girl’s smile strained, stiffening and tightening in the corners. Gwen knew that irritated look all too well from high school. The girls of the popular crowd would often shift into this body language whenever Gwen ignored their insults or countered them with a response they weren’t expecting. It had made her extremely unpopular, but that was never important to her. All she ever cared about was getting out and graduating. It was sad that mean girls had existed back in this time as well.
“How dare you speak to me that way,” the girl hissed. “You think because you’re a freak of nature you can do and say as you please?”
“Just because I look different from you doesn’t mean that I’m a freak of nature!” Gwen shouted. Her nails dug into her palms as she tried to reign in the urge to respond physically. That particular subject had always been a sore spot for her. She didn’t think she was ugly, per se, but she wasn’t a beauty. Society’s standards, as ever changing as they were, always felt too far out of her reach. “Pretty” was not something she ever saw in the mirror. And, unfortunately, this body held the same face.
“What is going on here?”
Gwen stiffened at the Prince’s voice behind her. Slowly, she turned around and bowed deeply. Prince Suho had abandoned his wife at the gazebo to investigate. She hadn’t meant to ruin his date, especially since they probably didn’t get many moments like this. “I’m sorry for disturbing you, Your Highness.”
Prince Suho looked past her to the girl and then back at Gwen. “Perhaps, it’s best for you to go back inside, Lady Gwen. I don’t want you to tire yourself out and I fear it might get colder. ”
Nodding, Gwen bowed again and walked away. There was no point in arguing. Besides, she didn’t want to hang around this self-important girl, who she didn’t dare give a passing glance to and give her the satisfaction of besting her. Once out of sight, however, Gwen’s bravado deflated.
“Who was that girl?” She bit her bottom lip in a very unladylike manner as she slouched against the outer wall of a red-painted building.
Chae Ryung tutted nervously. “That was Princess Yeon Hwa. You’re lucky that her brother stepped in.”
That girl was Prince Suho’s sister? Gwen shuddered, feeling sorry for Suho since he had to be related to her. “Mom always said I was too spiteful. But I wasn’t being disrespectful by looking for five seconds. They just looked like a scene out of a movie.”
“A movie?”
Oh, crap. There you go again. “A novel. I meant a novel. They looked like a scene from a book.”
“Oh!” Chae Ryung nodded, though she wore an expression of confusion. “Still it would have been better to apologize and walk away.”
Gwen shrugged. “Maybe next time.”
Looking up at the blue sky, Gwen wanted to pout. It was such a nice day. Even with these layers of clothes, she wasn’t too hot and a nice breeze played with her hair. But Prince Suho had told her to go inside. He must have figured she would cause less trouble there. He also said it might get colder. Gwen hated being cold.
“When I have to stay inside, where do I like to go?” she asked as she looked ot her friend.
Chae Ryung grinned from ear to ear. She seemed excited as she took hold of Gwen’s wrist and pulled her along to a building near the middle of the compound. It wasn’t a large building, with spaces barely able to be called rooms. That hardly deterred the excitement bubbling up in Gwen’s chest.
Inside were wooden shelves, thin and easily seen through. But unlike the thick, hardbound novels Gwen was used to, the books stacked here were thinner, flimsy and held together with twine. Another servant girl shuffled up before they stepped into the room. Chae Ryung was needed elsewhere. She urged Gwen to go on ahead and stay at the library for a few hours.
Within the shelves, she lost herself.
Reading was always a comfort to Gwen, but she tended to lean towards adventurous fiction filled with romance and challenge. She doubted she would find such stories in the Prince’s library. If she could even read these manuscripts.
Gwen blinked, reflecting on her presence here. Somehow, she was able to communicate with the others despite the fact that they weren’t speaking English. The real Gwen’s knowledge - at least, with speaking and reading - somehow had remained behind. As her eyes drifted over the Chinese characters written on the spines, she understood what they said. A small laugh escaped her lips. She’d always wanted to know more than one language. All it took was being transported back in time to a different body.
From what Gwen could make out of the titles of the volumes, they were mostly science based - medical treatments and catalogs of animals and plants - along with a few recorded histories. There were no fictional stories to be found, so Gwen went for the next best thing and grabbed a book that recounted the story of how King Taejo founded Goryeo.
The wording was a bit dry and straight forward, the author giving only the occasional flourish here and there. Still, like any written word, it absorbed her attention. To receive a recount of history from a source so close to the time that it happened was not to be taken lightly. Gwen walked through the aisles as she read, unaware that another visitor had arrived. In the middle of a sentence about a deciding battle, her pacing was stopped by a soft wall. She looked up and sucked in her breath.
Prince Suho.
She bowed, thinking that her back would start aching from all this bending over. “I’m sorry, again, for earlier,” she whispered. It was a sincere apology. Though it wasn’t her fault, she’d egged it on and caused the Prince trouble, which in turn could cause trouble for this Gwen’s father. Both men had been kind to her since she woke up and she didn’t want to repay that kindness by being a burden.
Instead of acknowledging her apology, Prince Suho asked, “Do you really not remember anything?”
Gwen shook her head, unable to meet his eye. She could feel his gaze seering onto her face, however. Warmth tickled at her cheeks and she hoped that it wasn’t a visible heat. The Prince was handsome, with a strong chin and kind eyes. He spoke softly.
“Do you remember why you were at the bathhouse?”
Gwen snapped her head up, confused. Why would he be asking her about a bathhouse? “The bathhouse?” She knew nothing about a bathhouse or what this Gwen would be doing there.
He sighed. “Truly?” Did he not believe her? Did he think she was faking it to avoid getting into trouble?
“I-” she stopped. Would she be punished for something she didn’t even do? She tried to be as sincere and honest as possible. She didn’t know what could be done to her if he didn’t believe her. “I’m sorry. I really don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Prince Suho didn’t look receptive to her answer, but he backtracked anyway as he looked away. “Perhaps I was merely seeing things,” he murmured to himself. Regaining eye contact, he took a step to shorten the space between them. “When I invited you and your father to stay here, I took it upon myself to look after you, knowing your foreignness would make you a target. I’m afraid I’ve neglected on that duty. It has caused Lady Hae great worry.”
Gwen took a step back, her hands behind her back. “No, I’m the one who should be sorry. I think I’m causing you more trouble than I’m worth. I promise, I’ll watch my steps from now on. The last thing I want is to be in the way. If you need anything, I’ll do it. I want to be a help, not a burden.” He nodded, the expression on his face softening slightly. Feeling the conversation was over with that last declaration, she bowed and scurried out of the library after replacing the historical text.
With that haven now compromised, Gwen concluded the best place for her to go was back to her room until dinner.
                                                    ********
After a few days of managing to stay out of trouble, Gwen ran into Lady Hae on one of her leg-stretching walks. She didn’t seem to be upset about the incident at the gazebo, though she was disappointed that Gwen hadn’t come to see her. Gwen stumbled through an apology, not realizing that she would be so missed. In fact, she thought she was doing everyone a favor by staying out of the way.
Accepting the apology, Lady Hae asked if Gwen would like to learn how to make lotus lanterns for the upcoming festival. Gwen raised her eyebrows in surprise. Thinking it would be fun and distracting, she agreed and followed Lady Hae to one of the buildings with open walls that allowed a gentle breeze to keep them cool. The temperature hadn’t dropped like Prince Suho had predicted. When Gwen saw who was already at work in the building, she instantly regretted her decision to join. A groan was barely suppressed as she sat down beside Lady Hae.
“Lady Hae, I see you brought a friend,” Yeon Hwa sneered cheerfully.
It took willpower, but Gwen managed to ignore the princess’s snide remark, instead focusing on Lady Hae’s explanation of how to put the lanterns together. The glue had a potent smell that stung at Gwen’s nose. No wonder they were in a building that allowed the air to drift in and out. It took a few poor looking lanterns for her to get the hang of it, but finally they looked worthy of being hung up for other people to see. Glancing over at Yeon Hwa’s, Gwen huffed internally. Though they were the same design, the princess’ were begrudgingly far superior.
“Lady Gwen,” Yeon Hwa called out. A faux-sweet smile stretched across her lips. “Why don’t you go take the dry lanterns and put them in the Moon building for storage until the festival?”
Gwen returned a smile just as fake. “Of course.”
Chae Ryung, who had joined the group soon after Gwen’s arrival, stepped forward. “I can take them, my lady.”
 “Lady Gwen is perfectly capable of carrying them herself,” Yeon Hwa snapped. The evil look gleamed in her eyes, as if she were punishing Gwen with such menial labor.
Little did she know the request didn’t bother Gwen in the slightest. She was giving the perfect excuse to leave her presence. While making the lanterns, Gwen’s mind had wandered towards the village beyond the walls and - with everyone occupied here – sneaking out on her own should be easy enough. She wanted to see more of this world that she now resided in.
Filling up her arms with as much as they could carry, Gwen shuffled up the hill, following the directions Chae Ryung had given to the Moon building.
“Gwen, you’re out of your room.”
Papa walked up, a smile on his face causing the corners of his eyes to crinkle. He seemed out of place in the Goryeo fashion he donned, yet comfortable as the shiny fabric swayed around his legs. He wore the hanbok with dignity and ease. Back home, Gwen prefered less complicated clothing and was still adjusting to the multilayered dresses that needed an extra pair of hands to put on.
“Yes,” Gwen said. “I was helping Lady Hae make lanterns for the festival.” She held them up proudly for him to see.
“Those are very beautiful,” he complimented. Gwen’s smile stretched farther across her lips at the praise. “I’m happy to see that you’re getting back to your old self.”
The joy in his eyes was almost too overwhelming. Gwen thought back to her own father, with whom she was close. They seemed so much alike. Tears threatened to brim her eyes. Within the last few days, she’d grown an affection for this man. He was patient with her and caring. And, as an outsider himself, a small connection that she clung to. “I’m happy that you’re happy, Papa.”
“I have some business to oversee at the house. Please, stay out of trouble.” He gave her a kiss on the head and resumed in the direction he was headed before.
Continuing on her own way, Gwen barely reached the steps of the Moon building before a man in brown clothes ran, bowed, and took the lanterns to store them. He must have been a servant in the Prince’s household. She hadn’t seen him before but she gladly handed the lanterns over. Thankful that her task was now over, she waited and watched as the servant hung the lanterns up on a long string inside the open doors. Now it was time to explore. Taking a different path, she headed for the gate.
This place was certainly different. Monarchies weren't as widespread in her own time, most nations having moved on to people-elected governments instead of blood-appointed kings. Though it was different, Gwen appreciated the underlining respect that drove this culture. The differences in formal and informal speech and the hierarchy of that respect ran deep within the people. The mutual heritage they all shared made her a bit jealous. She was from a place that didn’t have that.
The sound of drums broke through her thoughts. They were deep, rhythmic, calling out to anyone who wanted to listen. Answering the call, Gwen followed them.
In a giant dirt courtyard near the palace stood about six figures, some dressed in red, others in black. They were spaced equally apart in a square structure. Gwen hid among the archways, too fascinated to walk away like she should have. The figures danced in unison and with power – except one of the men in red, who was lacking enthusiasm and proper rhythm. The others noticed and stopped their dance, the drums fading out as well. They all stared at the one who had finished incorrectly as he flopped down to the ground. Gwen covered her mouth to soften the giggled. He was throwing a fit. A grown man by the looks of him, he was acting like a spoiled child. Among the figures was Prince Suho, who seemed exasperated at the situation.
So, those must be the other princes.
This festival must be important, if royalty was performing. Gwen made a mental note to have Chae Ryung explain it in more detail when she went back to the compound.
A few of the princes ganged up on the one on the ground, criticizing him for still getting the moves wrong after such a long practice. Huffing, the one on the ground jumped up. He pointed a long finger and accused another brother of making a mistake as well. Gwen laughed loudly at their altercation, the noise pushing through her fingers. Prince Suho glanced up in her direction. She took off, scared to be caught.
Once among the common people, Gwen’s mind eased. She wandered around the city, trying to ignore the whispers and stares that followed. The market was abundant with people. Men gossiped with their friends while the women picked over the vegetables and meats, inspecting for any impurities. Children played loudly and ran through the streets, uncaring if their feet were covered in mud. Different stalls caught Gwen’s attention, some selling soaps and bath grains, others selling intricate hairpins that sparkled under the sun. She made a mental note to ask Papa to come with her next time to buy a few wares. Maybe Chae Ryung could teach her how to place the pins in her hair.
Leaving behind the market, Gwen came to a small bridge over a shallow river. The water flowed steadily, uninterrupted. She stared down at her blurry reflection, wondering how she could still look so much like herself. There was no railing to obstruct the view, so she bent down for a closer look.
The face looking back was still round and pale, the soft jaw line giving a youthful appeal. Red hair fell natural, gentle waves that never liked to obey. Not even the multiple hairpins keeping it out of her face could tame it completely. Sea green eyes sat in hooded sockets on either side of a thin nose and average lips. Freckles dotted the bridge of her nose and apples of her large cheeks from years of sun exposure. Forced to come back to a time that wasn’t hers, the least magic could have done was improve her looks.
The cries of the villagers reached her ears too late. Searching for the source of the hysterics, Gwen stood and turned as the villagers ducked out of sight. A mad man on a black horse galloped through the market. The rider didn’t care about others around him. He didn’t look back behind him or stop to check on those who dived out of his path. A villager with a traveling pack hanging from his shoulders scurried across the bridge to run away from the rider. In his haste, he knocked into Gwen. She lost her balance, flailing her arms worthlessly, and began to fall into the river that had served as my mirror just moments ago. She closed her eyes and braced for impact with the surly cold water. But it didn’t come.
A steadfast grip snatched her by her waist. When she opened her eyes to see who had saved her from the water, she was face to face with the rider.
Knights of the Galaxy: Telmar
Summary — In a galaxy not so far away, Ayumi wonders what colossal sin she had to have committed in her previous life to be thrown into outer space with a group of idiots.
Notes—
• FIRST FANFIC ALERT! A thousand apologies to every single grammatical error made! I’m going to improve, I promise you that!
• There will be no set timeline to the stories, rather just drabbles of what the original character goes through in her tumultuous life and the colourful characters she meets.
“Find Jongin. Bring him home. No, I don’t care if you have better things to do, Baek.”
Baekhyun didn’t say a word. He preferred to stare motionlessly straight ahead, unseeing, into the bleak horizon. There was an odd sort of comfort in cursing out his leader from within the confines of his own mind.
The icy wind was relentlessly sharp and unforgiving tonight. His hair whipped about his head, slapping his forehead with the force of small pinpricks that did little to soothe his temper. Their pod was hidden a few miles south of the terrain of low hills, cocooned in the safety of a sheet of mist they had managed to stumble across after landing.
Baekhyun wondered why he had agreed to this rescue mission. The planet was mostly uncharted territory with unpredictable weather patterns, so his fellow crew mate honestly had no business here in the first place.
He jerked in surprise when something knocked against his knees. With a grunt, he bent to help straighten Ayumi, who had taken a tumble from a particularly strong gust of wind. As one of the few crew members with an elemental ability, she had practiced for years to be able to harness her core energy to heal. While a strenuous effort, Baekhyun had yet to even hear a single complaint from the woman.
It was then that he realized that Ayumi was looking up at him and moving her lips, but Baekhyun couldn’t hear the words over the ferocity of the howling gusts. Instead, he shrugged to show that he didn’t understand a word, and kept a steady hand over her shoulder.
No matter. She should be done soon, he figured.
In front of her, lying on the ground was a seemingly comatose Jongin; eyes closed, brow pinched and head propped up on Ayumi’s lap. Looming over him like a scary mother hen, her hands were splayed on either sides of his temples. Baekhyun didn’t think that he would ever get over the thrill of seeing her heal; there was just something about the way her hands would ablaze radiant with a pearlescent white that sent goosebumps down the length of his arms.
Or maybe it was because the wind was becoming unusually colder. Eyebrows curled against each other, his eyes narrowed with a gnawing suspicion.
He knelt down, wincing when his knees dug into her back. “Can’t we carry him to the ship and heal him there?” He yelled, voice booming in her ear at such close proximity.
She shook her head, ponytail smacking him in the face. Spluttering out a few strands of hair from his mouth, Baekhyun decided that there was no point in rushing her. He strained to hear what she was saying, but he could only catch the words “spine” and “cautious”. So being the dutiful teammate that he was, he provided more light from the conjured orbs surrounding the trio and held a firm grip on Ayumi’s shoulder, lest another bout of wind knocked her clean off her knees.
Peering over shoulder, he looked down at his teammate. The shade of Jongin’s skin had improved considerably, from a sickly pallor back to a healthy tan. While it concerned Baekhyun, he knew that the man was in good hands. Now, if he could just figure out what happened to him in the first place.
The planet of Telmar was reportedly barren of life and stripped of any light. An astonishingly lack of reports were borne from the fact that no one was willing to explore and charter a planet that had no hope. It was also not on Jongin’s current itinerary. So why was he here and what had happened?
The air was permeated with doom and unanswered questions, and it unsettled Baekhyun to come to terms with the fact that if a creature did this to Jongin, it was probably still lurking around. Unless he provided more light orbs, there was no way of seeing past even two feet of the inky darkness surrounding them. But he couldn’t afford to bring another orb into existence–the promise of luring predators was hanging tantalizingly low over their heads.
Baekhyun had little to no intel on whatever monstrosities occupied Telmar. He had to get these two back to safety before they’re given the chance to find out.
“Okay,” he said, yanking Ayumi’s ear, and subsequently her whole head, closer to his lips. “Speed it up!”
At the same moment when Ayumi shot him a baleful glare for practically spitting in her ear, Jongin inhaled a frightening large bout of air and shot up, effectively knocking the top of his head against her chin.
Surprised at the sharp pain traversing from her nose up to her head, Ayumi jerked back into Baekhyun’s chest. With a grunt, the two were blown onto the ground in a flurry of flailing limbs as they fought in vain against the wind. He had ducked in time to avoid an elbow to the face as she scrambled up to her feet, eyes watery as she blinked against the increasing velocity of the gale.
Now awake, Jongin’s wide eyes flitted past the light orbs hovering above him before he twisted around to gawk in disbelief at his friends. Ayumi helped a disgruntled Baekhyun -whose face had flushed a remarkable shade of cherry red- to his feet. Though Jongin couldn’t quite hear them them, he could see their mouths moving rapidly, frustration evident on their faces.
Flinching at the sheer strength of the wind, Jongin realised that the howling of it alone was the reason for his lack of hearing. Well, at least he wasn’t deaf. Wiggling his toes and flexing his fingers with ease, he realised that he must have been healed. Deciding to take a chance and get back up on his feet, he paused to take a deep breath. The world spun unforgivingly fast around him, the light orbs melding together to form one luminous line. He pressed the heel of his palms into his eyelids, just until splotches of colour bombarded his vision.
This mission was nothing short of a disaster, and he just knew that Junmyeon was going to kill him.
Cool hands, rough with a littering of aged scars, pressed gently against his cheeks. Almost immediately a tidal wave of warmth washed away his nausea, a revitalizing burst of energy unfolding from within his chest. Eyes flickering open, he saw Ayumi kneeling in front of him, brow pinched as she concentrated on redirecting the flow.
Baekhyun had turned around to keep an eye out for signs of movement in the darkness, one hand reaching behind him to grab a fistful of Ayumi’s jacket. He was still recovering from the last mission, so his powers were limited at this given time. If they could just hurry and regroup on either one of the pods, they could get the hell off this cursed land. He detested the dark. “Would you mind telling us why we found you unconscious?” He shouted over his shoulder.
And just as Ayumi stepped back and opened her mouth to repeat the same question in case Jongin hadn’t heard, the wind ceased abruptly. Her ponytail flopped back down just as the lapels of her jacket flattened against her chest.
Alarmed, Baekhyun twisted around to lock gazes with Jongin. Not daring to utter a single word, the man cocked his head to relay his utter confusion. What the fuck?
The cold claws of dread crept up Jongin’s spine. The silence was daunting, but it was the loss of even a single breeze that truly left him unsettled. His fingers twitched with longing to toss his teammates over his shoulder and teleport far away from here. Something was so incredibly wrong.
Brow furrowed, he strained his ears to listen. No one moved a muscle. Baekhyun could hear his own heartbeat; he could even hear Ayumi’s nervous breaths. They needed to go. “Okay,” he said as quietly as he could. “Jongin, get up. Our pod’s closer to reach than yours, so let’s—.”
One of the the orbs flickered. The man almost snapped his neck when he whipped around to gape at it. It blinked, fighting for life, until it gave out completely into the darkness with a final shudder.
“Baek?” Jongin called out softly, wincing at the sharp stab of pain in his throat. Tongue heavy and mouth parched, he wanted nothing more than to chug an entire bottle of water at the moment. He was in no mood for one of Baekhyun’s attempts to scare him. “Switch your lights back on.”
The man in question looked just as confused as he did. “I... didn’t do that.”
A horrific screech, one that couldn’t possibly be human, ripped through the air. The rest of Baekhyun’s orbs flared momentarily, the lights waning rapidly as they spun erratically around the trio.
The screech was jarring, but it did well to break Ayumi from her stupor. Quickly grabbing a fistful of her teammates jackets, fingernails clawing into the material, she yanked them just as her feet propelled towards the direction of the jet.
“Run!” She cried out desperately just as another screech tore through the air, this time noticeably closer.
Words fuelling their own legs, Baekhyun and Jongin managed to move quickly, racing after Ayumi. Gritting his teeth, Baekhyun willed a few of his orbs to lead the way, illuminating the jagged rocks and crevices they jumped over.
Heart hammering thunderously against his chest, Jongin ducked just in time to avoid a bare tree branch nearly slicing his head clean off his shoulder.
“Jongin!” Ayumi screamed over her shoulder. “Now would be a great time to teleport!”
Jongin nodded vigorously, unable to find the words to verbally respond.
Baekhyun grunted as he leaped over a protrusion of rock jutting from the ground. The cave was a considerable distance away, and he didn’t think that they would make it without a fight if whatever it was decided to pounce on them. “Pod sixteen!” He yelled over his shoulder.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Minseok blinked, taken aback when two bodies landed in a small heap on his beloved carpet.
Jongin heaved, lungs protesting when Baekhyun landed ungracefully on his back.
Minseok leaned forward to peer at his two boys sprawled on the carpet. “Not to be rude, but I’m busy.”
Baekhyun staggered to his feet and bit back a curse. The dolt had transported them directly back home. When he realised that he’d have to somehow get back to Telmar and get the pod back, the annoyance tripled till he had to force himself to bite back a curse. “Jongin,” he said.
“What?” The man groaned from his spot on the ground, one arm flopped lifelessly over his eyes.
“You’re getting the pod back,” Baekhyun snapped as he rubbed vigorously at his temples. He never boded well with the dark, and Junmyeon would have to bodily threaten him before he ever stepped foot on the cursed land again. What even was that god awful thing that screeched at them?
Jongin grunted.
Minseok shook his head and sighed, setting aside his cup of tea. “You really need to start calling the pod a jet. Also, you transported directly home? Smart. Junmyeon’s going to kick your ass for that.”
Sitting back up and groaning at the ebbing headache pounding to life behind his ears, Jongin shook his head. “To be fair, my mind was a bit scrambled because we were running away from this horrific thing in the darkness.”
Minseok quirked an eyebrow. “What horrific thing in what darkness?”
“Telmar. It was pitch black and there was some mister lurking in the darkness,” Jongin explained as he stood back up. “It screeched so loudly I thought my eardrums were going to burst!”
“Really? Interesting,” Minseok mused as he brought the teacup to his lips. Telmar was a land left unexplored on account of the death of its nearest sun a some years ago. Records stated its history, but no one had ventured its plains since it harboured rumours of vile creature lurking in the darkness. At least now there some substance to the rumours. “So why were you two in Telmar in the first place?”
“Two?” Baekhyun parroted. He frowned in confusion when Minseok pointedly looked from Jongin to Baekhyun. “What do you mean? Yumi is right—.”
Jongin’s eyes widened to the size of dinner plates when he realised that it was only Baekhyun standing in front of him. Oh God... The dreadful claws of nausea climbed rapidly up his spine to wrapping its constricting talons around his throat.
His breath hitched in his throat as he watched Baekhyun look around the space wildly, hands quivering as the lightbulbs above flickered manically. “She was right in front of us, I swear.” He could hardly hear his own voice. “She was right there!”
The temperature in the room plummeted. Pinpricks stabbed at his skin as Baekhyun released a breath, visible in the chill of the room. Panic would be one word to describe what he was feeling at the moment, but he knew that the eldest member responsible for the cold was frothing mad.
“You left Ayumi in Telmar?” Minseok demanded, voice as unforgivingly cold as the temperature. He rounded the desk slowly. “Alone?!”
Jongin’s knees buckled, legs wobbling like jelly, as black specks dotted his vision at an alarming rate.
“Take us back!” Baekhyun barked in fury, wheeling around to grab Jongin‘s collar and yank him closer. Fear for her wellbeing was soon filtering to reveal the pure rage flaming in his chest. “Take us back right now!”
Jongin was shivering now, eyes unfocused as his hands clawed desperately at Baekhyun’s. There was too much going on. The sensory overload was too much! He couldn’t think clearly! How could he have been so careless? How could he have let his best friend slip through his own fingers and not even realise it? “I’m so sorry, I don’t know what happened! She was right next to me, I thought... I—.”
Baekhyun’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he took a step up; at first glance, he might seem human, but something about his aura crackled, something about his eyes were too bright and his movements too graceful. “If anything happens to her—.”
“Baekhyun, his nerves are shot.,” Minseok interrupted as he walked over to clap a hand over Baekhyun’s shoulder. The protrusion of crystalline is as blanched and jagged as a shattered rib cage, jutting up toward the ceiling in a cacophony of razor sharp ice. “Rest, recuperate, and bring her back.”
