10 Anti LO Asks

1. u know the few years they cant see each other is both so theres no actual punishment but also so persephone is technically in her mid 20s when they officially ~get married~ and now rachel can claim she totally wasnt a creep for making persephone so borderline underage as opposed to just ... making her not a teenager in the first place. p much every writing choice in LO now is rachel desperately trying to retcon her past bad writing choices but it's so obvious it's almost laughable.

2. so the "big punishment" is hades has to wait til persephone can legally drink and rent a car on her own before he can tie her down to being his trophy wife and knocking her up? good to know the thousands who died senseless, painful deaths got their "justice" in being a minor inconvenience for these two.

3. lo fans praising hades for not being a r//pist is funnier when you realize rachel very purposely took hades' actual mythology and pinned it on another character to demonize him purely because hades is that awful in mythology in terms of his relationship with persephone and she couldnt just be normal about it. like literally lo apollo's crimes in comic are myth hades' actual doing. it's crazy they dont connect the dots or even do a basic google search and realize how bad they sound.

4. That baby Persephone crying being gifted with wrath frame is the ugliest thing I've seen in LO in a long time

So Rachel insists on dressing people in 18th century-esque gowns when talking about the time Leto and Hera were friends. Some people here didn't like it, but I think it's fine. However. Wtf is up with Zeus's shirt when he's shown kissing Leto, her outfit resembles vaguely antique undergarments, but his shirt is just a modern-ass shirt!! What the hell is going on with the fashion?

6. rachel must be sobbing her eyes out that now persephone might be like 23 when she marries hades, she's basically ancient by that age. everyone knows youre an old maid by 21 and persephone would lose valuable years to give hades his desirable amount of clones for himself. it's absolutely tragic. whatever will they do.

7. well of course hades would be upset over not being able to see persephone for a certain amount of years. she'll age out of his age range.

8. Don't read the webtoon whatsoever but I'm reading all these fast pass mentions and y'all have to be pulling my leg. They all sound so bad??? The trial outcome??? 9. ngl, I love how in trying to giving persephone a ~tragic backstroy~ to explain her actions rachel instead strip her of literally any and every thing she could have had to even pretend to be a character. she has no intelligence of her own, she's only beautiful on a fluke, she has no kindness, and even her ambitions/emotions arent even her own! it's telling us without this, persephone is staler than a piece of old bread. this is exactly how to NOT develop a character. truly impressive on RS' part.

10. not to bring up PJO but with hades and maria there was conflict in them being separated because she's mortal and thus time spent together was more important because of how limited her life was, but LO trying to pull that too between two immortals is like?? get over yourselves?? also in PJO there was years of having a relationship and kids involved, meanwhile in LO they've legit only known each other a month. rachel wants the emotional reaction with none of the actual stakes/work put into  it.

for the argument to escalate this far, it was most likely about Yenna; minor or major

all the stress from school, work, and taking care of a child had to take its toll sometime

one minor inconvenience was all it took for him to snap

what was that inconvenience?

you forgetting to put up Yenna’s hair, leaving it a tangled mess when Eli arrived home

the aspiring hair stylist was already in shambles before entering the apartment.

seeing Yenna’s hair in a frayed mess was just the cherry on top

his first reaction was, unfortunately, to blow up at you

You were confused as to why your boyfriend would suddenly start yelling at you

but one look into his eyes was enough for your knees to begin to buckle

he insulted your parenting skills with a scoff before turing away

instead of feeling the usual sadness that came with being insulted by your lover, you only felt rage

insults and hate filled words were spat between the two of you

Yenna was almost immediately removed from the vicinity by Sally, glancing worriedly between you and Eli before taking her leave

when Eli finally felt his rage begin to simmer down, he brought a hand up to run a hand through his hair

seeing him raise his hand, your first instinct was to turn your head and brace for impact

he knows he has a temper (plus, he’s not exactly the most patient man)

and really, he tries to keep it under wraps

in turn to keeping his anger in check, he would bottle the rest of his emotions along with it

(he just wants to appear perfect in your eyes, no matter how many times you’ve proven to him that you’ll love him despite his flaws)

one of the things that’ll push him past the point of anger is someone flirting with you

especially if it’s someone he knows

he knows he’s not as smart, strong, or talented as some of the other people in your social circle

so why were you with him?

all of his insecurities come crashing onto him, mixing with his jealousy to form a destructive kind of anger

his mind would fill with what ifs and possibilities, leaving him mostly silent for the date

whenever you would ask him something he would reply with a curt “yeah” or a shrug before returning to whatever thoughts were plaguing his mind

upon entering your shared home, you’d immediately ask if he’s feeling alright

Zack would only brush past you to take a seat at the dining table, his head held in his hands, ruffling his meticulously styled hair

even more worried than before, you approach him, unaware of the storm that had been brewing within him for the last few hours.

“Zack, are you sure you’re alright? If you’re not feeling well I could call Daniel--”

“Daniel this, Daniel that. Why don’t you just fucking date him already?! News flash! I’m not him, nor will I ever be.”

your eyes narrowed, “I’m just saying that--”

a loud bang would resonate throughout the house, Zack’s fist shaking on top of the nearly shattered table

almost instantly, he would be in front of you, brushing away the tears the tears that had began to fall

being brought to your senses you stumbled apologies, bringing your own hands up to wipe away at the tears

“It’s not your fault, really! I’m fine, Zack.”

your apologies and reassurances fell deaf against the thundering race of his heartbeat

what had he done?

“I’m sorry,” his quiet voice reached your ears, tired and hoarse from yelling at you earlier

placing a soft peck to his cheek, you sighed, “I told you, it’s fine. Just please don’t bottle it up again. I’ve told you before, haven’t I? I love you, Zack Lee. Not Daniel Park; not Jay Hong; not Mira Kim, but you.” 

these are the first two (and only two) characters that came to mind when writing this, but if you want a specific character don’t be afraid to shoot in an ask! I apologize for any grammar mistakes rip Grammarly just refuses to work sometimes?? Idk dude...

Alright so this is Raum from the webtoon Muted. Again, haven't read it. Might read it but probably not, let's get into it.

Love their color palette, dark with some goldish vibes going. Love that. They look rich, like they'll be like "Wow, your shoes look so...affordable." They definitely give a lot of backhanded compliments. They're the kind of person who'd get a job at subway or chipotle or something where you're allowed to customize your order. And then whatever you get they'll make a face and say shit like "Ew, that's so gross. And what else do you want on it?" But they'd also be the type to remember your order and have it ready in a bag just before you got there. And maybe when you get like salsa or something and you ask for regular they're like "Not even opting for mild? Hm, delicate tastebuds I suppose." And it never matters what you order, even if you order the same thing they'd normally get they'd always have something slightly snarky to say about it. You would never want to order a coffee from them but you would definitely want them to make it for you. They're for sure the type to respect you more if you hold in your tears until you get to your car after they roast you. I wish I could see their hands, not for like a fetish thing but because I wanna see them all dipped in black. Gonna look it up real quick. Hm, I’m not into it. Their hands are all regular and not claw-like like a demons would be or something. I expected clawish hands with like pointed tips but they’re just regular hands which is fine but definitely not what I wanted to see. They have the color palette of a villain but they don’t seem like a villain. They kind of seem like that love interest that’s mysterious but not in like a cool way. They’re just kind of showing up and disappearing at weird times. I either see them as the love interest who’s kind of boring or the side character who everyone loves because they’re the funny character. And maybe they’re always getting up to shenanigans but they’re never usually life threatening. If they’re a villain they’re definitely the villain with a tragic backstory that ends up being one of the good guys in the end, you know? I picture the villain they work with to be this genuine and evil person and then there’s this kid. Like, just making trouble and causing minor inconveniences. And maybe the other villain treats them badly and then the protagonist is nice and cares about them and they’re like “No one’s ever cared what I thought before” and then they go through this internal thing like they’re not sure if they can really be good at all or they’re just born bad. Anyway, their song is probably something by Cher or ABBA. It definitely feels disco-ish. I don’t know how to explain it.

minho - if anything, minho would break up with you at the beginning of the relationship over something small. he finds out you don’t like cats? sure, he’ll try to get you to like his brothers, but if you ultimately don’t at the end his attempts, well... 

changbin - remember when the members dubbed him as “most scary when mad?” yeah, it doesn’t look to good for you 0-0 so it wouldn’t take long for him to get just a tad bit angry at you and cut it off right then and there. 

jeongin - not gonna lie, i hate pulling this card on jeongin, but i don’t think he’d understand what it means to cross the line in a relationship yet? so he’d foolishly think that something like you forgetting a single date would be a reason to break up with you. please correct him T-T

jisung - he’s definitely most likely to break up with you at the heat of the moment, probably in a minor argument. in his mind, he thought “well if i can’t solve an argument with them, what’s the point?” but instantly regret it once the other members correct his wrong doings. 

chan - a messy morning, some drama between the members, and you deleting some of the songs on his computer is enough for chan, to unfortunately, snap. he’d call it quits right then and there, but he wouldn’t let the day pass without realizing his mistake and asking for another chance. 

hyunjin - i feel like his experience of watching kdramas and reading webtoons surprisingly helped him out here. he’s had enough times where he screams at the characters for making dumb mistakes, so i think he’d know what to do when there’s a minor inconvenience in the relationship!

felix - no way!! it simply doesn’t make sense in felix’s head. he’s the type to forgive minor accidents right away, no matter how upset he is at that moment. he just really hates conflict, and would try to avoid it with you whenever he could.

seungmin - absolutely not in seungmin’s book. why would he break up with somebody so sweet and caring over something that can easily be fixed? it isn’t worth the risk, so unless the relationship isn’t working out, or one of you did something deal breaking, he wouldn’t even think about breaking up with you.

I saw someone in the replies (of Rachel's tweet) saying that LO critiquers are "a loud minority" and another one saying that "we joy nothing".

Literally Rachel gets nothing but praise 98% of the time. The only time I can think about her receiving way more backlash is from the (now deleted) clementine video. Even then, she gets positive feedback every single day. She has money, a large fanbase who doesn't care, and is even the face of webtoon (they literally include LO in everything at this point).

A lot of these critiques are from (ex)fans of the comic because they don't want to keep silent on these problems. 2 weeks. It's been about 2 weeks in canon over the span of 146+ episodes. This story is slower than molasses and it becomes obvious with how much filer is in these episodes. We get it, Persephone and Hades want each other. We don't need 12 episodes in a row exploring that.

Perhaps we are a loud minority (bc as you say most people are praising RS), or the people who dislike the webtoon are not interested in being in the anti community (or even don't want to express their distaste out of fear of the fandom). I alone know a dozen of people who don't like it and either are not on Tumblr, or don't want to give their time to bashing it.

I am hesitant to say "RS shouldn't even be affected by the hate because there is praise all around her". I know creators and sometimes the negative stuff just sticks to them. Even us, we hear 9 praises and 1 hate comment and we ponder on the hate comment for the rest of the day. It's natural to wish that criticism didn't exist or you wish it was served more mildly.

The thing is she dismissed the negative comments in LO because "it's not finished yet". Which is a stupid excuse for a writer/comic creator. It's a red flag about her skills and experience, something that her fans can't see.

And the "it's not finished yet" refers to the future events and character arcs. But the criticism in the anti LO community rarely is about how events and characters WILL turn. It mostly is about how they are now. If a character is flat/annoying/spoiled and gets on your nerves do you even care how they will end up?

Not to mention... we already kinda know. Hades and Persephone will rule the Underworld unscathed (because the original myth says so) while everyone who opposed them will be punished one way or another.

Persephone might be confined to the Underworld for half a year but it'll be just a small inconvenience because it will have your lover and the cute doggos and some new friends down there. Plus, smartphones exist and she can speak with people on the surface any time.

We will still need to read to see what will happen to the side characters but we also - sort of - know what will happen to them bc of the original myths. It doesn't seem any interesting twist will come.

One of my headcannons for Pesto is that she has anxiety, so I think that fits in well with her ^_^ You might also recall the Bear Death chase sequence in the game: “There are fates worse than death, Bjoharn! Like unimaginable pain or going far far away for a long long time! You don’t wanna risk it!”

Oh yeah, that’s the reason why I’ve been avoiding dA lately =A= Eclipse is the most inconvenient, hideous, and just absolutely horrid website design I’ve ever had the unfortunate displeasure of experiencing in my life. But they don’t even censor NSFW stuff anymore? What a complete mess >:| I only go there for this one webcomic I follow nowadays :P

for western webcomics i Don't unless i read them on tapas or webtoons where it saves my place. otherwise if it's something i really love i'll leave it in a tab indefinitely saving my spot. for eastern webomics i religiously update my reading history on anilist or MU

tho twitter is a very unstable way to get update notifications because things get lost real fast

Bookmarks. If a comic goes onto my reading list, it goes into my bookmarks. I used to do RSS but that habit died with google reader.

A mix of memory and Archive Binge (https://archivebinge.com/). Although these days probably more the former just because I have so little time for any reading I only do in bulk to the point I'll usually remember where I left off since I fortunately have a pretty good memory once I read a few pages. That being said, I have been considering switching to RSS feeds just for convenience, but time has really gotten in the way of me doing that as well. XD

Unless I get an email notification about it, or see an update on Twitter, I usually forget about the comic for a while. But the good news is, when I do remember, there are often many new pages to come back to. Like a mini binge!

I'm really bad at it, which is why I typically read comics on host sites like Webtoon, Tapas, etc. (Sorry all you personal website peeps!) I make very rare exceptions, because it's just too difficult for me to keep track of all the websites and all the new pages. The only other way that I can keep track is if I'm in the Discord server for a particular comic. If personal sites had easy to find email subscription buttons or something though, I'd probably be able to keep track better.

Mailing list for "finished this chapter!" emails sounds reasonable. So you only get it every chapter.

Though for people who do longer chapters, maybe "finished this scene" emails might be a better option.

I don't mind page by page updates, but I might be one of the few that does a pretty good job of remembering what happened every page. But yeah! Email updates would so help me since I my email alerts my phone, so I can check important stuff (and comics) right away if I want to.

I usually just keep the tab open for them on my Chrome....but most of the comics I read are from tapas/webtoons. However.....getting email updates would honestly flood my inbox, so I probably wouldn't want that

I mean, my inbox is already flooded with BS, lol. If you've ever bought something online or made an account anywhere, your inbox will be flooded, so it's really a minor inconvenience for me.

Also, you wouldn't be required to get email updates if you don't want them, but the option would be nice

Oh man, I use public hosting sites, Discord and Twitter, which isn't the best for stand-alone site comics. Every so often I bookmark a comic I plan on reading, but then I always totally forget about it. There are a couple comics I remember every blue moon like Sister Claire or that comic about a Mexican Catholic kid trading his soul to summon a demon, or something, but then I end up forgetting where I left off... <_<' I heard using an RSS feed is good, but I'm pretty particular about stuff being in my inbox, if I get emails for a bunch of comics I'll probably just get annoyed. Lol

Oh, yeah, that Archive Binge email idea is great or even like, what updated this week instead of just today. I also use bookmarks. And also I just have a million comics to start open in tabs. I do now have the Webtoon app so I can follow a handful of comics that don't have they're own site, but my preference is definitely for homesites. Maybe I'm just an old lady in that respect TuT I also usually read in little binges, but I also follow creators on Twitter/Instagram so I can see when those page updates post. I'll be honest, I don't really understand how RSS works X') I assume it somehow pings you when a site updates, but the mechanics of it I just don't know. But I definitely do have an RSS feed enabled on my site because I know some people use it.

RSS just works like any website where you subscribe to accounts and read a feed with the updates -- Twitter, Tumblr, blogs, whatever. Except that it isn't limited to a specific website, it's universal. You get one RSS-reading app and it can subscribe to any feed from anywhere.

Mine combines a couple different blogs, comics, podcasts, new fics posted in AO3 tags, and at least one Deviantart gallery. (Back in the day I put a couple of tumblrs on it, before I took the plunge and signed up with tumblr...)

Although for webcomics I use a combination of Archive Binge and ComicRocket. (If one of them isn't getting the updates for a specific comic, I follow it on the other one.)

I agree with LadyLazuli, if it wasn't for my Webtoon, Tappytoons & Tapas comic apps, it's hard to keep track elsewhere. I also rely on comic related discord channels or I watch for banners to show up to remind me to check out the comic series. Likewise, I want to get some sort of fun memo pad reminder to 'check up this series'. Another good source I love is Webcomic Library https://tagpacker.com/user/webcomic.library Luma did a great job categorizing them so it's easy to find titles with genres I'm interested in(edited)
