To celebrate both of their 96th Birthday! I made Mickey’s last year, I thought it would be sweet if I did Minnie too since it’s her birthday as well plus she's getting her own balloon for Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade!

Recently tried to redesign Minnie Mouse. It always did bug me that she basically looked like Mickey in a dress. Still it took me a long time to find a look I was somewhat happy with and even now I'm not completely sold on it.

Would you look at that, it’s now been 96 years since the release of Steamboat Willie on November 18th 1928; the short animated cartoon film that officially and publicly introduced the cartoon pop stars and icons of not only Disney but in animation in general; Mickey and Minnie Mouse! Well their actual introduction was in a short animated film called Plane Crazy that was released earlier on the same year on May 15th, Steamboat Willie is considered to be the first film to properly introduce the two mice. And if you didn’t get the recent news, that same film is now in public domain since January 1st. So I made it a little more monochromatic (black, grey and white) to fit with the style! And after this film both Mickey and Minnie have been making names and stories for almost a century with 4 years to spare and like what Walt Disney said, “It all started with a mouse.” More accurately it did started with mice as Minnie was there since the very beginning with Mickey too!

Happy 96th Anniversary and Happy Birthday Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (2024)! Hot dog!
