Isn’t it wonderful to have a girl who follows the wolf into Gotham's hut? It was almost like she was made just for him. He would have to thank his lucky stars. A mess of a constellation they were. Never forgiving, always remembering. Perhaps he angered some gods here or there in a previous life, if those weren’t just tales.

“Just might? Here I thought we were feeling something more.” Ace retracted his arms, letting them fall by his sides. The ink-haired deviant snatched a menu off a nearby table of a harmless-looking group of strangers. When they shot the pair a dirty look, Ace merely stuck a tongue out, bending his arm to hand Viola the menu. “Mineth lady needs.” They were the type of niceties who would get eaten up in Gotham without a second thought. Throwing an arm around her shoulder, he guides her, too-comfortably, to a table in the centre of it all.

“I don’t frequent places.” There’s nowhere made for him. Commitment issues, interesting. “But I see their Christmas meals are to die-for. Any plans for the holidays? Say, going home?” Leaving?

"Oh, Miss Romano. You're dangerous."

Where to take her on a stranger date? There was a rooftop he frequented on difficult nights. A place high enough to scrape the sky but low enough to see the scars left by bloodstains from desperate leaps and bad shoves. Too depraved? Then the city streets. They could spy the batman in a shadowy alley or ride the city’s infamous orgy train. He’d love to see her reaction. Gotham was a shithole, alright. A sinkhole that swallowed people whole but it was home. It had taken him in when no other city would.

“I like you, you know.” He adjusted his collar, glancing over his shoulder. “And I’m already dressed — might as well strike while the iron’s hot. Let’s go. There’s this restaurant I know. To die for.” Ace stood, grabbing a jacket and throwing it over his shoulder before he could change his mind. The place he had in mind was a real Gotham gem: a tiny, hole-in-the-wall spot with kitschy, offbeat decor, orange lights so harsh they were practically insulting, and patrons who knew how to keep things interesting, sometimes even dangerous. The food was cheap but passable, with an unspoken price tag that kept people on edge.

Once they arrived, he threw his arms open in a grand, half-sarcastic display. “So? What do you think?” His grin was pure showman but a glint of something genuine peeked through as he waited for her answer.
