The reasons why I think Minerva and Butler's relationship is a really nice one.

Minerva is down a bodyguard still when Artemis returns from Hybras, and once the "back in the same dimension :)"-goodwill ebbs, I know she was posting these "nice guys finish last"-style memes on a vent burner socmed account about not being able to poach Europe's most-in-demand-teenage-genius-babysitter

Artemis made a small gesture towards his younger self, awaiting for them: "Because she has a lot of experience in putting that little prick where he belongs to."

Minerva: "The criminal here is Artemis, I'm 100% honest. And, before you say it, hacking is not a crime."

Butler: "So, what do you call it when you enter into some megacorp's bank account and take their money?"

Minerva: "Why, but tuesday of course."

Artemis wasn’t usual to anger. Much less to anger towards Angeline. And his voice remained steady. It was only from his clenched fists, from his stiff shoulders, that one could tell how upset he was: “I swear I’ll bring you my mother’s apologies, Minerva. The third degree she threw at you to during dinner was inexcusable, but this... this…”

Minerva si lasciò condurre via docilmente, ed era una fortuna, perché Artemis sapeva che non sarebbe mai riuscito a trascinarla di peso se avesse deciso di continuare a scambiarsi complimenti con sua madre. Avrebbe dovuto ritenersi soddisfatto. Eppure, mentre la ragazza era piegata sulle cianografiche, quell’eccezionale si rifiutava di lasciarlo in pace. E poi c’era Minerva stessa. Era appoggiata sul gomito e mentre studiava le carte, gli occhi socchiusi per la concentrazione, in un gesto inconscio sfiorava il labbro inferiore con l’indice, scoprendo ad ogni passaggio la sua soffice morbidezza, il rosa umido della carne all’interno. Ed Artemis Fowl si ritrovò a pensare, non per la prima volta, che Minerva Paradizo fosse davvero molto bella.

Minerva let herself be led away meekly, and that was pretty lucky, because Artemis knew he would have never been able to drag her, had she decided to continue her exchange of compliments with his mother. He should have been satisfied with himself. Yet, as Minerva bent over the blueprints, he couldn’t stop thinking about that exceptional she had dropped so nonchalantly. And then, there was Minerva herself. She was leaning on her elbow and, as she studied the blueprints, eyes squinting with concentration behind the half-lenses, she kept brusing her lower lip with her index finger, exposing at each rub its soft smoothness, the moist pink of the flesh inside. And Artemis Fowl found himself thinking, not for the first time, that Minerva Paradizo was indeed truly beautiful.
