SOS - Ambient Music
Tumblr media
I had a HARD time trying to get this song to sound Ambient enough. I've heard my peer's pieces, and I've listened to some Minecraft songs too. Maybe I struggle with it because I can't sit down and work on Ambient music. Maybe it's not what I usually listen to or like to compose, not sure. It's a weird relationship between Ambient Music and I. I tried using voices, a lot in this piece. I saw there was a morse code sound affect, and I just slapped it on top of some water noise loop I found. From there, I found a cool piano part that probably saved me from refusing to working on the song. I added more synths to add some uncertainty in my music. I did get spooked out over my own song, and I just decided to not give myself the creeps anymore LOL. But I still had no idea how to end my song. From my peer's version, I saw they would repeat the song over and over again and it would eventually end. So, I did that.

Shitty Right Hand Bullshit (under a read more because it's more of a me picking my own shit apart to try and see what the FUCK is going on. Feel free to peek if you want to hear me ramble about health problems lmao) :
I can absolutely lay in bed all day doing nothing. This, unlike what I would have expected as a 7 year old, feels terrible. However, it's a very efficient way of reducing any wrist/arm pain I may be experiencing.
Sitting down to eat is fine. It doesn't really hurt unless I have to cut something that's being annoying to cut, and even then if i'm careful it goes okay and is mostly painless.
I can barely sit at my computer without shit hurting. There may be several factors to this ? The ones I am currently thinking of are : desk is too low compared to the height of my chair (which is changeable BUT currently at its lowest), which makes me have terrible posture (and that comes from me who has terrible posture even when i can have. a desk at the right size).
Writing on the computer, somehow, managed to alleviate some of the pain- especially in the upper arm, a little in the wrist/hand, but ONLY if I don't write for too long without taking a break.
Drawing on the computer is Hard and Annoying and shouldn't be done unless I want to deal with hurting afterwards.
Drawing on a sketchbook is, for some reason, mostly fine. It goes better when I'm doing that in my bed for some fuckass reason.
Coloring in a coloring book is POSSIBLE, but it requires more movement than when I draw because I don't really pause to think. It does make most of my arm sore afterwards.
I can't play games unless I can do them completely with my left hand. Current possible games are : cookie clicker, the sims 4, and Minecraft if played on Peaceful mode specifically. This is annoying. I want to play Skyrim. I can't.
If I want to play something that isn't on the above list, I have to use a wrist brace, use it too tight on purpose, and use a controller. This is not ideal and does strain the dumbass arm. And also I've played Skyrim with a controller for years and I actually prefer keyboard+mouse on that one. MH world is perfect with controller though. I just WISH it wouldn't put so much strain. That and I managed to get myself hurt with the wrist brace last time anyway. For no reason. It just started fucking burning inside my arm.
Is it tendinitis or something else ??? We'll wait 'till we get the MRI results I guess.
I can somewhat compose on Musescore with only my left hand. It is impractical and annoying, but I made 3 little pieces of music. Maybe I should put them on my main blog.
I can somewhat hold a mouse but no longer than like 2 minutes because after that it hurts. It's better than shit burning if I even put my hand on the position to hold a mouse.
As writing on the computer is okay I should have been able to keep writing my main fanfic. Spoiler I was not my brain went scatter and decided to do a bunch of... dumb ass discussions between other characters in a notepad format. I can't think properly enough to actually write the big fanfic. I will definitely tell that to everyone whenever I upload the last prepared chapter.
This is already so long but I'm really just one existential crisis after the other lately and this hand, forcing me to do NOTHING, is NOT helping.
I can watch youtube videos and twitch streams. Bonus points if I'm in my bed. Illuminaughtii and MisterMV are saving my afternoons.
I wonder if me being annoyed at everything because of the pain is the reason i sleep for Very Long and stay tired afterwards, and then I remember that the only time in years where I was able to wake up early without feeling like shit was right after breaking up with my ex. So I think it's unrelated and I am just tired all the time for no reason. Or for an unknown reason. This is veering into "not hand related" territory.
Also : I have WEIRD ASS mood swings lately. My mom thinks it's related to both being so fucking tired AND the fact that I am hurt all day.
Yet I still don't think it's that bad because like. A lot of people have it worse. I am lucky enough that it is probably going to be over at one point, and I need to remember that.

Syo trying to convince his s/o to let him paint their fingernails please?
Aww! This is too cute! :D I  misread it as Syo’s s/o trying to  convince him to let her paint his nails lol.
Anyway, lets begin.
“No,”
“Aw! Come on (F/N), you haven’t even heard me out-”
“No,” you said again.
“Please?”
“No,” you said a bit firmer.
You were enjoying a few hours off from your busy schedule. just lounging in the common room in the Master Course. Since you’re producing the music for both STARISH and QUARTET NIGHT; you left the actual composing to Nanami- it was nice to have a break-even if it is for a few hours.
Normally, someone who stayed cooped in the same building would want to leave and explore the ‘real world’. however, since you like to be in the same perimeter as your boyfriend, you decided to stay in.
You were re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows for the third time (you liked to re-red books to catch subtle ‘easter eggs’ that you missed the first time). Sadly, the magical, wizarding bubble you were in was popped when your boyfriend walked in, asking if he could do something for you.
And apparently, your boyfriend, Kurusu Syo does not take ‘no’ for an answer.
“That’s been my answer for the past hour, and it will not change, Syo. ”
Pursing his lips, he was about to beg again, until he caught a mop of light teal hair from the corner of his eye.
“Oi, Ai-”
“I don’t know what you’re trying to do or whats going on Syo, but if it has to do with (L/N)-san, then she’s her own person and I can’t control her. Plus, you shouldn’t be wasting your time with whatever nonsense this is-”
“This is important!” he exclaimed, cutting off his senpai, “I don’t wasnt to do this but please help me out?! Pretty pretty please with tons of sugar and music-shaped sprinkles?”There was a long pause in the room; Ai had even stopped in his tracks to look at his kouhai“…As tempting as that sounds, Syo, my answer is still no. In regards to the sweets, perhaps give them to Camus; I myself am not fond of sweets. Now, I suggest you get back to practicing.”
“It’s not a real treat,” Syo mumbled as his senpai walked away.
You couldn’t help but chuckle. “I can’t believe that you just begged,” you grinned, “That’s so cute-”
“Shut up! I’m not cute, I’m manly!” he yelled, startling you a bit.
“Well damn, now you’re REALLY not going  to be painting my nails,” you growled, getting up from the lounge chair you were sitting in and walking away.
That’s right, your boyfriend was asking if he could paint your nails.
“Oh, C’mon!” he pouted.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2:00 pm - recording studio
“Ranmaru, Cecil, are you ready?” you asked into the microphone, so the two boys in the recording booth could hear you. You were outside of the booth with the mix-board, a few members from STARISH, as well As Reiji and Ai kept you company.
“Yup!”
“Whatever.”
“So good to see you’re excited to perform Nanami’s hard work, RanRan” you deadpanned, taking your finger off the mic button. You pushed another button and the recording session had begun.
Throughout the whole session, your phone kept going off, as you were receiving texts; however they were all from the same person.
With a growl, you turned your phone off and went back to make sure the two duet members’ voices were balanced and even-out. Suddenly, the sound of a door slamming opened, startled everyone in the room, With your hands being near the volume control, the startling sound caused your hand to turn up the volume of the instrumental to the max; this resulted in both Ranmaru and Cecil letting out yelps and throwing the headphones off of their ears.
“What the fuck was that?!” Ranmaru exclaimed, exiting the booth.
You didn’t even have to turn around to know who it was. “Syo,” you growled, slamming your hands on the table in front of you - completely missing the soundboard, and finally turning around, glaring at the short blond. As Syo opened his mouth to speak you cut him off. “You have 10 seconds to get out of my sight.”
“I’d run, Chibi-chan,” Ren chuckled, noticing Syo’s face starting to pale as he bolted.
You got up from the chair and walked over to the door, slamming it shut again and making sure to lock the door.
….This boyfriend of yours is gonna cause you to get grey hairs early.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
7:00 pm
After a long day of producing, editing and recording, you were finally able to take a shower, and took refuge in your room. Your wet hair was up in a loose bun and you were wearing a pair of your favorite sweatpants, paired with a tank-top; an oversized jacket of your boyfriends was layered on top. Propped up against your headboard, you had your laptop on your lap, and were currently playing Minecraft;
As you were fighting the Ender Dragon, a knock on your door brought you out of your focus, and caused you to die.
“Damn it,” you groaned as you placed the laptop on your bed and got up to answer the door. Once you opened the door, you were staring at a pair of bright blue eyes. “Syo,” you started “Just let it go, please?” you asked nicely.
Grabbing your arm, the male walked into the room and sat down on your bed. “Look,” he started, looking at you. “I’m sorry for startling you earlier-”
“You need to apologize to Ranmaru and Cecil, not me. Its their ears that are probably still ringing.”
“Not the point here,” he sighed. “I just…the reason why I want to paint your nails is because, I feel guilty.”
You looked at him confused. “What? Why? Besides pissing me off earlier, which is fine I guess, you have nothing to be guilty for.”
“I do!” he exclaimed. “STARISH has been on tour a lot, and you’ve been producing your ass off for both us and QUARTET NIGHT. We haven’t had any quality time together in the past three months.”
He was right; when was the last time that you and he actually hung out together? When was the last time you two went on a date (or as close to a date as you two can get since fangirls oftentimes crash them)?
“Since you’re so busy with all of the stuff you’re doing, I’ve noticed that your current nail polish is chipping away,” He paused, as you looked at your nails and noticed that he was right.
Huh….wonder when that started happening? you thought.
“So the reason why I want to paint your nails, and why I have been so serious about it, is because I figured that by doing that, we would have at least some time together that isn’t related to our careers.” You noticed that he looked away, but not before noticing the faint blush on his cheeks. “Plus, I miss you,” he said quietly so you wouldn’t hear him (but how wrong he was).
There was silence between you two; mostly because you were trying to take in everything that he said. He was right, it HAS been quite some time since just the two of you were together; plus you knew that it took a lot of courage to ask to paint them-since he’s so animate about being manly.
“So will you please  let me?” he asked, looking at you once again.
“Syo,” you start, your voice losing its harshness. “Look, the main reason why I don’t want you to paint my nails is because I don’t want all black-”
“What makes you say that?”
“Syo….all of your nails are always black,” you sighed.
“Look, I’ll do whatever it is that you want, just….let me have this moment with you.”
“FIne,” you sighed, getting up from the bed, and headed towards your desk.. “However, there’s a catch.”
The joy escaped from his face. “What is it?” he asked, a bit scared.
Turning back around, you held a shoebox, with a smile on your face. “I’ll let you paint my nails, if,” You paused for dramatic effect (which he didn’t take lightly) “If you follow this design perfectly.”
Challenge excepted. How hard can it be?” he grinned. “I can handle ANYTHING!”
Placing the box on your bed, you opened the lid to reveal a ton of nail polish, as well as a few pictures for inspiration. You picked up the most recent photo and handed it to him. Immedietley, his smile faded. “You’re kidding right?”
“Nope,” you grinned.
“But I suck at free handing things-”
“Then, are you sure you want to do this then?”
“Bring it on!”
~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, you met up with STARISH, Nanami and Reiji (why he’s there, no one knew)  to discuss the bands new song.
“So, Chibi-chan ended up doing your nails then?” Ren asked, looking at your nails.
“Yea, I caved,” you grinned, as Syo just sat there quietly.
“Oh my gosh! RanRan would love your nails! He loves cats!”
“You did a good job, Syo-chan-”
“Shut up! She’s pure evil-I’m never painting her nails again!” he growled as you grinned.
“But you were so passionate, Syo-chan,” Natsuki said. “What changed?”
“She had me repaint her nails several times because I kept screwing up the damn cat design on them. 3 hours later, she pulled out nail vinyls of the same pattern that she was trying to have me do. THAT WOULD’VE SAVED SO MUCH MORE TIME!”
“Damn, thats pure evil,” Ren chuckled.
“Payback for the recording studio incident yesterday-”
“YOU SAID YOU FORGAVE ME FOR THAT!!!”
“….Nothing is scarier than a woman’s scorn,” Tokiya added.
So the design used for the inspiration is pictured below, done by the YouTuber Cristine from “Simply Nailogical
Team Xbox Looks Back on Their Favorite ID@Xbox Memories
All of us right here on Staff Xbox are great followers of the expertise concerned within the creation of video games, particularly those who come into the ID@Xbox program. From cartoon platformers to journey video games to technique simulators, there’s a sturdy catalog of titles that ship numerous recollections from these gaming worlds. It’s nearly unfair that we are able to solely share just a few of these with you too, however we’ve taken a few of our most memorable moments and captured them right here on this function. Get pleasure from.
Chris Charla – Senior Director of ID@Xbox
Having been a part of ID@Xbox because the starting, it’s extraordinarily laborious to choose one second from the 1000’s of nice moments and video games and folks concerned with this program on each the Xbox and developer aspect. However for those who made me decide only one, it could be E3 2015, once I was onstage, at midnight, watching Chad and Jared Moldenhauer introduce Cuphead. I knew how laborious they have been working, and I knew that after the teaser the 12 months earlier than, folks have been anticipating quite a bit. I additionally understand how a lot that trailer was going to blow everybody away. That second when the StudioMDHR emblem got here up on stage, I received goosebumps like I by no means have earlier than, and I simply couldn’t get the foolish grin off my face watching that recreation personal the stage at E3. There have been tons and tons and tons of different unbelievable moments and video games during the last 5 years, however that second will all the time stick with me!
Phil Spencer – Head of Xbox
The sport that involves thoughts for me is Brothers. I’ve such a vivid reminiscence of the primary time I accomplished the sport as there’s a key second on the finish during which the sport mechanic is designed to strengthen the emotion I felt as a participant. When you haven’t performed it, Brothers is a cooperative, puzzle-based recreation the place every thumbstick controls one of many two brothers on display concurrently. Within the recreation, the brothers’ mom has died and their dad is sick and in want of drugs. The sport is in regards to the brothers’ quest to get drugs and by the top of the sport, the older brother dies as properly. Because the story attracts to an in depth, the youthful brother is alone, attempting to get again to his dad and to take action, he should swim throughout a stream. We be taught early within the recreation that the youthful brother doesn’t swim. Till this second within the recreation, he’s solely crossed water on the again of his older brother.
So there I used to be, attempting to complete the sport, pausing and dealing to resolve the puzzle of how one can get the youthful brother throughout the water with out his older brother. After which the reply simply got here to me and once I tried it and it labored – it was backbone tingling. I felt the loneliness and disappointment of the younger brother. I don’t suppose I’ve ever encountered a gameplay mechanic that evoked emotion in the way in which Brothers did for me and so many different gamers.
Ashley McKissick – Head of Xbox Recreation Go
4 years in the past, when my son was six-years-old, we spent our winter trip enjoying By no means Alone and exploring the Iñupiat tradition collectively.  It was the right recreation to play with my infant. The co-op nature meant that we needed to work collectively, and the controls have been so intuitive and well-crafted. The truth that, whereas enjoying via the journey, we additionally received to find out about this particular Alaskan Native group, made it much more particular. I additionally simply completely cherished the artwork type in By no means Alone, particularly the environments, and I’m so glad that ID@Xbox enabled us to find this recreation. Taking part in this little gem will stay a fond vacation reminiscence for my son and I.
Craig Duncan – Studio Head, Uncommon Video games
I’ve loved many unbelievable ID@Xbox video games over time however my favourite second is sort of a latest one whereas shopping the what’s new in Xbox Recreation Go part there was a recreation known as Guide Samuel. I hadn’t heard of it however was drawn to the artwork of a cartoon loss of life holding a puppet after which spent the subsequent few hours being pulled out of my gaming consolation zone doing what seemed to be regular on a regular basis duties; with out spoiling the plot which everybody ought to expertise spoiler free it made me smile all through and snicker at among the dialog and the loopy moments that poor Samuel needed to navigate with applicable properly deserved achievements awarded all through together with in all probability the craziest driving achievement I’ve ever earned A very humorous, pleasing and distinctive little journey.
Katie Stone Perez – Principal Program Supervisor, Mixer
The timer ends, you see the outcomes, and my daughters leap up and cheer “We did it!” Now we have come collectively as a household and defeated the unbread. That’s my favourite ID@Xbox second. My household loves enjoying video games collectively and Overcooked 2 offers an excellent degree of problem however once we work collectively we are able to all the time achieve success. Every degree begins with us arising with a plan after which the chaos ensues. The sport has change into an nearly nightly ritual for us earlier than mattress and I really like that we are able to have that second of success that unites us as a household.
Jeff Rubenstein – Xbox Comms and Inside Xbox Host
I could not recall my daughter’s first phrase, or precisely when she took her first steps. Ought to we’ve got saved a lock of hair from her first haircut? But I vividly bear in mind her first Minecraft world, I confirmed her how one can document her first PotG in Overwatch, and was sitting proper subsequent to her throughout her first Fortnite Victory Royale – the fruits of a rigorously laid recreation schooling curriculum that started with… Chariot. Sure, Frima Video games’ platformer has gamers dragging a king’s coffin to a extra luxurious burial web site to placate his demanding spirit (who berates you in your journey), however it’s colourful, kid-friendly, and teaches the mechanics of platforming and cooperative play. Extra importantly, it sparked a love of gaming and a father-daughter bonding exercise that continues to at the present time. And that’s higher than a pair of bronzed child footwear any day.
Graeme Boyd – Xbox Stay’s AceyBongos and Inside Xbox Host
The day I received married is without doubt one of the biggest days of my life. I’m, after all, speaking about Stardew Valley. My actual marriage ceremony was fairly good too, I assume. However in Stardew Valley, getting married felt just like the fruits of months of laborious work and cautious relationship constructing as I carved out my new life on the farm. It felt like acceptance.
That’s the humorous factor about Stardew Valley – it begins out like a pleasant mash-up of Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and even Minecraft. However quickly sufficient the rhythms of it – tending your crops, promoting your items, making new mates, exploring the city, the seasons rolling out and in – they get inside you. You’re feeling a part of one thing particular. And for me, that have was one of the crucial enjoyable and fulfilling I’ve ever had in a online game. Stardew Valley grew to become my completely satisfied place (I nonetheless have a map of the city subsequent to my desk at work and I gaze longingly at it throughout hectic convention calls). Getting married made it even happier.
Oh, yeah. I received married to Leah. Clearly.
Will Tuttle – Editor in Chief of Xbox Wire
I’m a sucker for an excellent narrative and ID@Xbox has no scarcity of fantastic narrative-driven video games, from the haunting household drama of the superb What Stays of Edith Finch to the sci-fi horror of Soma. The most effective of those mix a compelling narrative with distinctive simple-but-complex gameplay. One among my favourite video games of this technology, Thomas Was Alone by Bithell Video games, is a pitch-perfect instance of that intoxicating mix. At first look, the sport seems like an easy, minimalistic platformer starring a gaggle of quadrilateral shapes, however it rapidly turns into clear that it’s rather more.
Due to top-notch writing and a few really fantastic narration by British humorist Danny Wallace (who received a BAFTA for his efficiency), these little blocks change into Thomas, Claire, Chris, John, and Laura. By combining these fantastically humanized shapes with some good old style puzzle platforming, Thomas Was Alone helped to push the medium ahead in unexpectedly new methods.
Larry Hryb – Xbox Stay’s Main Nelson and Inside Xbox Host
As a fan of movie, music and clearly video video games, I’ve lengthy had an appreciation for content material created and produced by unbiased studios. So, once I heard the ID@Xbox workforce was celebrating the discharge of their 1,000th indie title, I naturally thought-about a few of my favorites and it was unimaginable not to consider Cuphead.
Cuphead is an absolute gem, that includes fantastically crafted visuals paying homage to sound cartoons from the golden age of animation. The soundtrack is definitely among the finest music you’ll hear in a online game, composed utilizing stay musicians enjoying jazz, early large band, and ragtime music, a favourite style of mine. However Cuphead doesn’t simply look and sound nice, it performs nice too. My colleagues could heckle me a bit as I reward Cuphead’s gameplay since I’m admittedly “challenged” by among the ranges, however the recreation is simply a lot enjoyable to play.
As nice as Cuphead is although, the true magic of the sport is with the variety of refined references (some may even name them Easter Eggs) seamlessly interwoven into the sport. I heard point out of a Road Fighter reference if you battle the frogs Ribby and Croaks, and once I encountered that individual scene, it certainly seemed to be a transparent tribute to Road Fighter.
Positive, there are the extra apparent ones, like a constructing within the background named after the builders or the title of their studio showing in other places. However if you dig a little bit deeper, you’ll uncover a seemingly never-ending hyperlink to different cartoon characters, video video games and actual folks together with actors, musicians, artists, and cartoonists. It’s fascinating as you play the sport if you acknowledge one in every of these refined hyperlinks and much more fascinating to think about all of the hidden connections but to be found.
...yup still going in circles on this game, spoilers (and a mountain of text) below the thing
So outside of being entirely too White, Transistor is some seriously good wall-to-wall aesthetic, and the blending with the music is pitch perfect.  The story bits, the voice acting, the world-building, hell even the game and leveling mechanic, it’s all choice...
That said, the creators made a few decisions that I can’t help but side-eye the hell out of despite overall loving this game
Tumblr media
1. Did I mention it’s all white?  Admittedly there are, like, six total human characters, but 100% of them needed to be light-skinned or blonde in a game that is clearly drawing from Jazz Age roots?
If that isn’t sketch enough, the only other humanoid enemy in the game, drones simply called “Man,” features a slouched-forward posture, feral instincts and head tentacles that resemble dreadlocks.
Either of these on its own might not be so bad, but combined?  It leaves a really bad taste for me.
Tumblr media
2. Red, the female lead for the game, loses her voice in the prologue and doesn’t regain it till the epilogue.  Instead we get the nameless male narrator walking us through what’s happening.  While Red’s the protagonist, it doesn’t feel like her story until the very last choice.
She can hum and her voice shows up in the unlockable songs throughout the game, which reinforces the notion that her voice only exists for her performances.  Even her one real chance for defiance of the overall narrative happens in total silence.
Tumblr media
3. The game’s lone canonically gay pairing, Grant and Asher, commit suicide before you reach them.  While their suicide isn’t linked to their sexuality, they are the only Camerata not to go out fighting, and both the narrator and the game label them as “cowards.”
Tumblr media
4. Red’s one act that feels like agency (and not just carrying out the path laid before her by a series of dudes) comes at the very end.
The world is lost, she has ultimate power to go about rebuilding it, her last opposition is gone, but the man who saved her life at the start is trapped inside the weapon she carries along with a host of other captured souls.
Over the narrator’s repeated objections, Red sits down next to his lifeless body and kills herself, appearing moments later inside the idyllic world of the weapon under a sunny blue sky holding hands with the narrator in a warm and happy scene.
Tumblr media
The choice finally gives Red some genuine agency and rewards her for it with both a happy ending and her voice back (not to mention creating some interesting parallels with Asher and Grant’s deaths), but it’s still a woman killing herself to be with the man who saved her life.
Of all the pieces, this one feels the least problematic to me because of how clear it is that Red does it knowingly and willingly - she’s not desperate or lonely, she’s seen what having godlike powers is like and has no interest in rebuilding an empty world a la Minecraft, so she calmly and (of course) quietly makes her choice and seems deeply content with it.
Tumblr media
The game is beautifully written and well-composed, it wouldn’t have taken much to (ironically) give voice to some of the obviously problematic elements, and it’s disappointing in an otherwise fantastic and novel title
OKAY SO this got suuuuper long and I’m gonna answer it under a readmore but thank you so much for asking!
1. First game you played obsessively?
Definitely Minecraft. I got it around 2012 and played it whenever I could, although shortly afterwards I moved on to playing a lot of TF2 with some online friends.
2. A game that has influenced you creatively? Writing, drawing, etc.
TF2 and Portal 2 were the first things I ever wrote fanfic for, so I’d say those two are big and important for sure. More recently, though, Transistor and Pyre have been inspiring me to pursue more art and music.
7. Any games you have multiple copies of?
I have Portal 2 for xbox 360 and PC.
8. Rarest/Most expensive game in your collection?
I had a copy of Link to the Past in great condition, but my ex stole that and my entire SNES so :/
9. Most regrettable purchase?
No Man’s Sky is the obvious answer but I think I have some steam games lying around that I bought and played once, or just never touched. Not sure which ones, though. Usually if I’m going to spend actual money on something, I try to make sure it’s good first.
10. Ever go to a midnight game release or stand in line for hours?
No, but I’d like to someday.
11. Have you ever made new friends from playing video games?
Not in the sense of meeting people in an mmo or anything, but I’ve definitely bonded with people I’ve met over a mutual love of games.
12. Ever get picked on for liking games?
Nah, not really. I’ve been picked on more for not having played enough games, honestly.
13. A game you’ve never played that everyone else has?
I’ve never played Overwatch or most online competitive games, or any MMOs aside from like 5 hours of gw2.
14. Favorite game music?
Anything Darren Korb, the composer for Supergiant Games, has made. Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre OSTs will always have a special place in my heart. Honorable mention goes to the Portal 2 soundtrack.
15. If it was a requirement to get a game related tattoo, what would you pick?
I……. have a triforce tattoo…….. on my left wrist……………
16. Favorite game to play with your friends IRL?
I tend to like watching people play games rather than doing competitive or couch coop type things, so it’s hard to say. I used to hang out with my friends while we all did playthroughs of the Mass Effect trilogy, though, which was wonderful.
17. Ever lose a friend over a game?
Nah. Had some arguments over the Souls games, though.
19. Favorite handheld console?
3DS, definitely, although I do have some nostalgia for the good ol’ GBA.
20. Game that you know like the back of your hand?
Portal 2, although it’s been a few years since I’ve played so I might not be as familiar with it as I once was. Barring that, Stardew Valley.
21. Game that you didn’t like or understand as a kid but love now?
I can’t think of any, honestly, since I almost never played anything as a kid.
22. Do you wear game related clothing/accessories?
The occasional Zelda t-shirt, and my old Aperture Science tanktop. I’d wear more if I owned more.
23. The game that you’ve logged the most hours into?
TF2, I think? I used to play for hours every evening.
25. Were you ever an arcade game player?
Sadly, no. My mother thought arcades were giant wastes of time and money and would corrupt me and make me stupid.
26. Ever form any gaming rivalries?
No, I don’t get competitive much.
27. Game that makes you rage?
Any kind of roguelike makes me angry just thinking about it. I hate losing progress. Really difficult platformers make me frustrated and angry too.
28. Ever play in a tournament?
Dear god no.
29. What is your gaming set up?
Currently, none. I have a shitty, half-broken laptop.
30. How many consoles do you own?
I own a Switch and a 3DS. I have access to an XBONE though.
31. Does the 3DS and/or Virtual Boy hurt your eyes or give you headaches?
I’ve never tried a Virtual Boy, but leaving the 3D on high on my 3DS is something I’ve only done once due to the nasty headache it gave me.
32. Did you ever play a game based on your favorite show/cartoon/movie/comic?
I don’t think so, no.
33. Did you ever have any bootleg games or plug-n-play games?
I had a Sonic handheld game from a happy meal, does that count?
34. Do either of your parents play video games?
My dad does, a lot. Mostly MMOs. I think my mother did too, but mostly Civ, some ancient Egypt themed MMO, and Guild Wars, from what I can recall.
35. Ever work in a game store? Or do you have a favorite game shop?
I worked in a game store for about six months late last year/early this year. It’s the best job I’ve ever had.
36. Have you ever shed actual blood, sweat or tears over a game?
Oh, tears, absolutely. Plenty of games have made me cry. FFXV, Persona 5, Transistor, Portal 2, the list goes on.
37. Have you played E.T. for the Atari 2600? Do you think that’s the worst game ever, or do you have another nomination?
I actually have played it! Perks of working at a game store that sells Ataris. I was utterly baffled by it, so I think “worst game ever made” is a fair title.
38. A game you’re ashamed to admit that you like?
I really enjoy all the walking simulators/art games I’ve played. I know a lot of people say they aren’t real games or whatever but I think most of the ones I’ve played are genuinely enjoyable experiences.
39. A sequel that you would die for them to make?
...Portal 3, but with the same writers+VAs+team in general. I know that’ll never happen now but I need it like I need air.
40. What to you think of virtual reality headsets or motion controls?
Motion controls can be hit or miss. I think they need to be integrated well and very functional to be enjoyable. Like, wii sports and stuff? I loved it. Those tilt puzzles in the shrines in BOTW? Absolutely horrendous. As for VR, I really want to try it someday. I think it’s neat.
41. A genre that you just can’t get into?
Roguelikes, Souls-like (where the only purpose of the game is to be as difficult as possible so people who master it can be snobs about it), and any realistic online-only FPS things like Call of Duty are the three main things I will never, ever touch.
42. Maybe it wasn’t your first game, but what was the game that started you on your path to nerdiness?
Pokemon Ruby, absolutely.
43. Ever play games when you really should have been concentrating on something else?
All through the second half of high school, tbh.
44. Arcade machine that has consumed the most of your quarters?
I’ve never actually gotten to play arcade games much.
45. How are you at Mario Kart?
I’m only decent at Mario Kart Wii, because I played it a lot.
46. Do you like relaxing games like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon?
Absolutely! Animal Crossing New Leaf and City Folk are games I love dearly and have spent a LOT of time on over the years.
47. Do you like competitive games?
Almost never. I only ever played TF2 with friends, and that pretty much extends to any competitive game I might play. Only with friends, and only sometimes.
48. How long does it take your to customize your player character?
So. Long.
49. In games where you can pick your class, do you always tend to go for the same type of character?
Yeah, mages are kind of my thing. I get jumpy when I have to do a bunch of melee so I tend to prefer to stand back a little. I always went full biotic in Mass Effect for that reason.
50. If you were a game designer, what masterpiece would you create?
That’s a tough one. I’ve had a few concepts over the years, but none that have really stuck with me.
51. Have you ever played a game for so long that you forgot to eat or sleep?
Yeah, definitely. I lose track of time really easily if I’m absorbed in something.
52. A game that you begged your parents for as a kid?
All Pokemon games from gen 4+5.
53. What’s your opinion on DLC these days?
Any DLC that adds characters or plot necessary for the full enjoyment of the game should be free imo. Skins/weapons/maps/non-essential quests and missions can be behind a paywall. Like, ME3′s From Ashes DLC should have been free, and I go back and forth between whether it was cool to have Citadel and Omega DLCs behind paywalls, but all the weapons/armor/alternate appearance packs I’m totally fine with being paid DLC.
54. Do you give in to Steam sales?
Only when I have money.
55. Did you ever make someone you hated in the Sims and did mean stuff to them?
I never played any Sims games.
56. Did you ever play Roller Coaster Tycoon and kill off your guests?
Never played Roller Coaster Tycoon either.
57. Did you ever play a game to 100% or get all of the achievements?
Minish Cap, I think? I tried to 100% Super Mario Galaxy but I couldn’t ever quite do it.
58. If you can only play 3 games for the rest of your life, which ones do you pick?
Oh, shit. Uh. Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pokemon Sun (or Moon), and... I can’t pick a third one. Probably something with multiplayer.
59. Do you play any cell phone games?
Yeah, but most of them are just little time-wasting puzzle games.
60. Do you know the Konami Code?
Yes!
61. Do you trade in your games or keep them forever?
I’ve never traded in a game but I might if I bought a physical copy of something I didn’t like.
62. Ever buy a console specifically to play one game?
Does the Switch count, since till Splatoon 2 came out I only had BOTW on it? I’ve considered getting a PS4 just for P5 and Horizon Zero Dawn.
63. Ever go to a gaming convention or tournament?
I went to GenCon a few times when I was really young but I barely remember it, and I’ve tagged along to a handful of Warhammer 40k tournaments with my dad, but that was also like 10 years ago. So no, not really.
64. Ever make a TV or monitor purchase based on what would be best for gaming?
I’ve never bought a TV or monitor myself.
65. Ever have a Game Genie, Game Shark or Action Replay? Did it ever mess up your game’s save file?
I had an Action Replay for shinies in X and Y.
66. Did you ever have have an old Nokia with Snake on it?
No, my first phone was a Windows phone when I was 14 because my mother hated technology and wanted to control me so a phone was way too much freedom and entirely out of the question :/
67. Do you have a happy gaming-related childhood memory you want to share?
I remember the first time I beat Portal 2, sitting on the floor in front of the TV and crying tears of joy. That was pretty great.
68. Ever save up a ton of tickets in an arcade to get something cool?
I wanted to, but didn’t go to arcades enough.
69. In your opinion, best game ever made?
Transistor. Can’t think of a single bad thing about it, honestly. Persona 5 and Horizon Zero Dawn are near-flawless too.
70. Very first game you ever beat?
The first game I beat was Pokemon Ruby, but idk if that counts since I shared with my brother, and I think my dad had to help us beat the Elite 4 because we were young and didn’t grind enough. I took turns with Portal 2, too. Portal 1, maybe?
