Differences (with some similarities) between Fairies and Elves in my budding MCD lore:
Fairies - Wings (typically insect like in nature) - Pointed ears. Noticeably longer and thinner than the elven folk, with more range of movement. - Colorful hair and/or eyes (not always the case, but not uncommon) - Long fingers - Immortality - Heights range from human-sized, to small, to large - Their skin and hair shimmer under direct sunlight, and there's a "blush" around the corners of their eyes, tips of their ears, their fingers. The "blush" tends to be the same color as either their eyes, hair, or wings.
Elves - Pointed ears. Shorter and a bit thicker, they have less range of movement. - Tattoo-like markings across their body (like Aphmau's in MCD Rebirth) that tend to come in one solid color. - They don't shimmer under sunlight, but there is a faint, ethereal glow around them that's sometimes hard to miss - Immortality - Heights range from human-sized, to taller - Long fingers - Colorful hair and/or eyes (not always the case, but not uncommon)
Both of these species have a more potent connection to magicks than humans do. An elf will usually always be a stronger magicks user compared to a human, and a fairy will always be a stronger magicks user than a human.
Colorful or otherwise "abnormal" hair and eyes are signs of magicks, and is a pretty key identifier for magick users. It's one of the few remaining connections humans have to their relation to fairies. Along with magick-users having fingers that are longer than "normal". This is harder to spot though.
The reason "long fingers" is a sign of magicks, and is found on both elves and fairies, is because part of spellwork is the ability to "weave" the magick in the air. Longer fingers make the physical component of certain spells easier, because they can hook around the magick better than shorter fingers. Shorter fingers doesn't make certain spells impossible to cast, it just means they take longer to learn and perfect.

as a society we should talk about aph/cadenza more. caddie the firebringer, determined to be a caregiver even while her fingers burn, a dormant magick under her skin awakening when she first holds a stranger's hand and makes a dress for her. who tends to aphmau's fevers and gaps in memory and these powers she can't control. cadenza who brought about the destruction of her childhood and was found in its ashes. aphmau, the echo, the memory of a stranger. who brings about life. who somehow finds death in every universe. cadenza, thought to be the innocent sacrifice for the nether, shad's vessel. fire starter. aphmau regrows the flowers she burns so she can try, try again. cadenza will never stop making gowns for her goddess.

okay but what if all of Aphmau's wolves were magical??? What if Phoenix, the mount dog, was incredibly large/strong to carry human weight?? What if Jiggy, the hellhound, was actually on fire maybe sometimes??? You know, what if they magicked??

I love rankings so much I made a physical strength tierlist for MCD characters, roughly in order and all headcanon 👍
purely bodily strength based so none of this considers fighting ability, magicks, or sk/jo9 transformations--for example michi would destroy kc in a catfight out of sheer aggression and dirty tactics but i think kc would beat michi in an arm wrestle yk.

I saw @little-laurance post about Gene and Malachi’s parallels and got me thinking about Gene and Nana’s parallels with their magicks.
A lot of people (myself included) have rewritten Nana to be this almost puppeteer who could rule the world if she wanted to but instead decides to bake sweets and entertain everyone. And Gene who gets memory altering powers and only uses them for selfish gain.
I think it would be interesting if Dante knew that Nana’s magicks reminded him of Gene’s and still felt this didn’t want to stop him from marrying her. Because Nana is proof that magicks does not make you into a monster.
And maybe Nana knows about how strong her magicks can be and just decided that she doesn’t want to be a monster bc what good would that get her?
Kinda Makes me wish that Gene and Nana had a conversation when Gene came back to Phoenix Drop. (Before he hypnotized her ofc) A brother and sister in-law with similar magicks talking about god knows what.

What are your ideas on the Wyverns?
I had this, though, that when a wyvern dies, their skeleton is left in place, and because they are connected to Irene in a way, moss and colourful flowers grow around them.
Oh that is a very pretty thing to picture!!
I actually like the thought of making Wyverns more of an Esmund thing! Mostly because I thought it was a shame Garroth was never really able to talk to Raven, and also the Golden Vibes which are always very Esmund, and I like the idea of the wyvern dimension actually being Esmund’s realm.
Ive also been playing around with the idea of there being a Ro’Meave heirloom (or maybe an heirloom from Zianna’s side of the family as I’ve also been playing with which side the blood should come from) that’s essentially a dog whistle but for Wyverns. Legend says it was once worn around the neck of Esmund the Protector, and he would only ever use it in times of great need to call upon the Wyverns aid, an asset only he had but never abused. Some say that’s why the Wyverns ignore it now, because they have been greatly disrespected by humanity in his absence and so they refuse to respect the gift they provided. Others opt for the more simple answer, that it only works when it’s in Esmund’s hands.
But of course that’s only a legend, and that object of legend is one of the few things Garroth has from home.

me: *making MCD lore -- specifically about the Old Gods of Ru'aun that were forgotten after the rise of Lady Irene -- for fun*
me: *trying to come up with Magick Users Lore*
me: *remembers that Zoey once introduced herself as a fairy before she became an elf*
me:,,,,,humans used to be fairies. Elves and Fairies lived amongst one another (along with the other mythicals) until something happened that resulted in a group of fairies losing their wings but not their magic.
me: these wingless fairies did eventually start losing their magic though, as generations went on and their numbers grew, their magic began to dwindle. they eventually lost their magic identifiers -- pointed ears, sharp teeth, etc -- until they became known as modern day humans.
me: the fairies that didn't lose their wings eventually went into permanent hiding due to being hunted down by humans and wingless fairies (later to be known as magick users).
me: they were being hunted because the wingless fairies/humans believed that they could regain their wings (or their magick) if they ripped the wings off the fairies/consumed them/stole their magick.
me: there are little to no written records of fairies, and the ones that do exist are held in the yggdrasil forest where humans cannot find them. nobody knows where the surviving fairies are because their locations weren't written down, and the elves that did know have long since passed and/or disappeared.
me: by the time MCD happens, fairies are considered a myth and humans/mortals have no idea that they are descended from them. also the reason meif'wa and other species can be magick users is because some of the wingless fairies evolved into different species.

Pikoro Village in my rewrite is one of those villages that are well populated enough to be know but not populated enough to even be considered a power house.
They’re also very traditional being pretty far from every other village. So much so that they really don’t like magicks users at all. Which is why Lucinda stays far away from it not only bc she is the Lord’s daughter but also bc the people of Pikoro don’t really like her.
The people of Pikoro also have terrible mob mentality. They will chase magicks users out of town if they are found out, which is why the O’khasis takeover (led by Ivan and Jeffery) was swift and easy, either no magicks user or witchcraft user to counter them it was clear that they didn’t stand a chance.
After Lord Luke died and Lucinda took over, a law was established that any discrimination against witchcraft and magicks years became punishable by jail time. Slowly more and more magicks users and witches started moving in and it became more of a hot spot for goods revolving magicks and witchcraft.
Pikoro actually started to have a place on the map as a village worth having, due to its trade in magical items.
MCD Rewriters: What is the major differences canon Pikoro Village and the Pikoro Village in your rewrite?

Minecraft Diaries AU | Layla and Jason Ross When the siblings get involved in my self-indulgent shenanigans
Anyway, meet Layla and Jason! They're siblings (Jason older, Layla younger) who guard their home town, Manarkia. They work under the lord whose also their dad.
Layla is a practicing magicks user, while Jason uses magicks every once in a while. (Fun fact, Jason's a premature shadow knight!)

Minecraft Diaries Focus Questions
Please respond within 150-500 words and reply to at least two of your peers (jk)
These are some questions I have about people’s opinions/predictions/interpretations that I’m really curious about!! Feel free to answer only one, a few, or all if that’s what you want, and answer in any way (reblog, reply, in the tags)
1. Do you think Laurance would have survived till the end of the series? What do you think his fate would have been if Jess continued? What would you want his fate to be?
2. Do you think Zane is Leona’s father? Would you think it’s a good plot point if he was?
3. Was Irene a good person? Do you think she was justified with her actions?
4. Do you think Shad is as evil as he is believed to be in the series? Do you think he is justified?
5. Do you think the Divine Warriors are gods or just humans with godlike powers? Are they humans who become gods?
6. Do you think Gene would have been redeemed if Jess continued? Would Dante forgive him? Would he forgive Dante? What do you think his fate would have been?
7. Is Zane capable of redemption in some way in your eyes? What do you think his fate would have been?
8. What characters do you think is the relic holder of each Divine Warrior, apart from the known ones? Would you have a different arrangement?
9. Was it a good idea to connect Mystreet and MCD together? Would you have preferred if they stayed separate universes?
10. Why do you think Zenix betrayed Phoenix Drop, was it the Calling? What would Zenix’s fate have been, and what would you have liked it to be? What do you think Garroth and his reunion would have been like?
11. Do you think Jeffory would have come back as a Shadow Knight at some point? Would you have liked it if he did?
12. What do you think would happen to the Shadow Knights after Shad is defeated? Would there be a difference between those that are immortal and those that aren’t?
13. What non-canon ship would you have loved to see, no matter how outlandish or obscure the character(s) are?
14. Is there any major character(s) that you feel is unnecessary to the plot? Is there any minor character(s) that you feel should have played a bigger role?
15. What do you think of the relationships between the Ro’meave brothers? What dynamic would you have liked to see between Vylad and Zane?
16. Do you think Garte is alive? What would you like his fate to be?
17. Do you think Kenmur’s death was a good plot point? Would you have preferred if he stayed alive?
18. What do you think of the personality changes from MCD to Mystreet?
19. They mention Cadenza has magicks that relates to the Nether portals but never really utilize this. What do you wish they had done with this information?
20. Many people have well established rewrites for MCD. Because of this, would you still want Jess to continue MCD, even though it will most likely go in a direction we wouldn’t like? For example, she would most likely focus more on the relationship between Aaron and Aphmau in her rewrite. Would this still be something worth seeing or have you grown content with the unfinished series?
Thank you so much to anyone who answers!
Edit: my dumb butt mixed up the numbering and had put 11 twice lol. I fixed it by combining the Zenix questions together, so I’m sorry if question 10 is very wordy :)

hello this is so cool?
ive never seen or even heard of anything like this beforehand when it comes to a magic system (even outside the world of mcd) and would love to hear more about it
So here's some minor worldbuilding about the rewrite. In the world of the rewrite, all living beings generate a magical energy unique to them. Since it's unique to individuals, the energy generated is most often referred to as a magical signature. For the vast majority of people these signatures are entirely unique and distinct. Copying these signatures in any way is completely impossible.
