So I feel like talking about the Divine Relics and how exactly they exist as well as other stuff surrounding them in the rewrite cause I feel like they are really interesting in concept.

So to put in the simplest terms I can, the Relics are essentially crystallizations of an individual’s magic taken from out of a person’s body. They have enough magic equivalent to the entirety of a single person’s magic in a raw form. And since magic and life are inseparable in the rewrite, and the Relics are crystallizations of basically all of someone’s magic… creating a relic from someone would, in almost all circumstances, kill that person. Yeah they’re kind of horrific in essence. However, if someone naturally had insane amounts of innate magic (like Irene did) then they could make a relic for themselves without dying. Not that there wouldn’t be other consequences. There are very few beings that have enough magic to make a relic and not end up dead, the Divine Warriors could because they all had stupidly large magic reserves. But since magic has considerably weakened/become harder to harness as the years went by, by the time where the rewrite begins, it would be an actual miracle for someone to be born with the reserves to have a relic made out of them and not die.

As to how and why Relics were originally made, it’s thanks to the Divine Warriors being kind of scared and paranoid. They were worried that they would one day come across a threat they wouldn’t be able to face alone, so they created the Relic canon. The idea was that in the day such a threat came, they would be able to fight by having their own already incredible abilities supplemented by the raw magic available to them through their relics. That or slap the relics onto the canon and essentially use it as a massive magically-powered super weapon. Whichever would be most effective for the threat. After the relics were made, Irene sent the canon into the Irene Dimension, where it remained until it got dragged out by Shad in the events that led up to how MCD ended in the rewrite. After that, no one could quite figure out how to send the canon back, so instead the settled for making it incredibly harder for anyone to reach it again by putting it somewhere that would be near impossible to reach and building a temple with multiple defense mechanism around it (the massive flying building fro When Angels Fall).

A comprehensive thought dump by two idiots about MCD season 1 upon recent rewatch 9 years later.

Aphblr has lied to me.

for years I have been told that Jessica Bravura’s Minecraft diaries is the superior watch to her other main series Mystreet which is just simply untrue as of my rewatch of the series 9 years after watching it for the first time.

true to the art form and writing style popular at the time MCD is a jumbled mess of things just happening with no clear connection and in some cases direction.

so many wasted opportunities because we are put promptly into the perspective of Aphmau. A character with very little substance and is shaped by the characters around her rather than the characters own actions.

the most interesting characters and concepts remaining firmly in the background. Such as Dale and Molly’s struggle with their daughter being turned into a shadow knight.

Brian’s sudden and barely built up betrayal of his family.

Kiki’s daughter being Zane lets be so real that child is literally just Zianna 2.0 (oh but Madi she’s a werewolf! Idc Cope.)

to Logan and Donna’s love story.

Most characters in the for front don’t talk about there own trauma’s or really anything there feeling outside of there love feelings for or about Aphmau.

Even as the production value went up I find the most interesting arc is the pikoro arc. As it showed genuine comradely between our main characters and established a clear dynamic. Only for the Scaleswind war arc to completely ruin that by making Garroth lose all rational thinking and an extreme entitlement to Aphmau. Writing it as if Zane brainwashed it doesn’t make the uncomfortable and frustration go away.

Zane was a good villain, while motives are fairly unclear he had a genuine presence and had fairly smart well executed plans. (Ein is definitely not a better villain.)

Something that stuck out to me; was how much of the plot probably could’ve been solved with the poorly thought out magic system, specifically Kawaii-Chan.

Kawaii-Chan practices forbidden soul magic and is able to give inanimate objects a conscious. So Lion point out something interesting; couldn’t she just trap parts of the main characters soul in a doll and just, save them incase the worst happens? Imagine what she could do with relics.

Every time Lucinda is on screen I fear what comes out of her mouth. Because I’m just going to ask later “why can’t she just do this?”.

Garroth, a tank of a man in plate armor, carrying around a big ol' shield that weighs half of what his armor does all on its own. Standing up front in a battle with one of his guards hovering at his shoulder on the shield side so his shield nearly completely covers them too. Setting his stance and being used as cover for one of the archers to hide behind while they ready shots. Using the shield like a weapon to shove an enemy or beast away or herd them into an ally's space for the final blow.

I was part of the Dream SMP fandom and I have since move on to other fandoms, but I always seem to love those Minecraft roleplays, and no doubt I'll come back another day. Criticize the fandom and its community and whatnot, it can't make me be embarrassed for something I genuinely enjoyed.

I loved the Dream SMP. I loved the creators and their characters, the lore and the story had me hook for two years. Admittedly, the Dream SMP provided more nostalgia than anything, bringing me back to those days when I watched Aphmau's "Minecraft Diaries" series or Sam Gladiator's "Yandere High School".

But I am more embarrassed than anything admitting that I had SEVERAL alternate-universe fanfic ideas that I never got around to writing. There were a few small projects and some bigger ones that had extensive world building with a magic system and everything. In the end, I wrote and finished two stories, both of which are published on my AO3 account for anyone willing to take interest.

Maybe someday I'll bring those ideas back, applying the concept to another fandom. Or maybe they'll be stuck in the recesses of my little writer brain.

Who knows.

But it doesn't mean I don't think of them sometimes. Think about what could have been created, but wasn't.

Twi’s Headcanons: The Aphmau Multiverse

So, two days ago I had a sudden idea to make the photo below, explaining all of my HCs of how the universe/dimensions/multiverse worked. I then spent an obscene amount of time in the middle of the night and the next day making it, and I decided it’d be cool to share it here instead of just discord (for once. I really love hc posts but I never get around to them usually unless prompted) (this post is 1666 words long oh boy)

Under the cut is a transcription of all the text in case it’s hard to read, along with my HCs concerning the Divine Dimensions specifically, as well as an explanation of the “inter-universal breach” in the bottom-left with VOID: Paradox’s universe. I think everything below explains enough, but feel free to ask if there’s anything else you’d like to know!

A Guide to the Aphmau Multiverse (As Headcanoned by Twilight)

Basic Info:

The Multiverse Itself: Every large purple circle is a universe. A singular universe may have many different dimensions inside of it, some being unique, but all of them have the fundamentals of life: a form of Material Universe, an Astral Weave/Garden, Gateway/Door of Judgment, and Aether/Afterlife.

The Universal Barrier//The Void: The Barrier is an infinite abyss of nothingness that separates each universe. If the Barrier is broken in any way (an object or being traveling between universes), the best way to describe its reaction would be like that of an immune system overreacting to some viruses; it begins attacking itself in the goal of destroying the threat. In such an event, The Void; an unstoppable parasitic force of nature, is released into all universes involved in the breach, essentially killing/destroying the entire universe and then resetting it completely.

The Dimensions within the the MCD/MS Universe:

Mortal Plane//Known Galaxy//Material Universe (including Earth): The world of Diaries, PDH/PDD, and Mystreet.

The Nether//Shad The Destroyer’s Dimension: the equivalent of Hell in Divine mythology, though Judgment does not actually send anyone there of their own accord. [Reached from the Mortal Plane via unstable ritual magic; Connected to the Astral Garden via Shad’s interference in the natural cycle of life/death.]

Astral Weave: Where the threads of reality weave together to create souls in preparation for the birth of a new being. [Unreachable to living or dead beings]

Astral Garden: Purgatory/where souls go after death and before Judgment. [Unreachable to living beings; Connected to the Nether via Shad’s interference in the natural cycle of life/death.]

Door of Judgment: The gateway into the Afterlife [Unreachable to living beings]

The Aether//Afterlife: The equivalent of Heaven in Divine mythology. [Unreachable to living beings]

Yggdrasil: An Alternate Dimension home to the humanoid race known as Elves. The majority prefer to keep their existence mostly unknown to Humans, but they have established a permanent link between dimensions in the Arctic Mountains of Earth. [Reachable via portal created by Elven sorcery in the Arctic area of Earth]

Wyvern Realm: An alternate Dimension home to the intelligent draconic race known as Wyverns. [Reached from the Mortal Plane via unstable ritual magic]

After making that last post about the multiverse, it only seemed right that I also do one exploring my own map of Ru’aun, its history, and its politics. It’s also definitely needed in order to understand the other non-canon places in my rewrite, so without further ado:

(NOTE: The in-universe calendar used in various places here counts upwards from the birth of Irene. In my version season 1 takes place 482 years after the divine, and season 3 is 500 years later, not 900. AI stands for “After Irene” and BI means “Before Irene”. Comparable to BC & AD)

ok /j /j but!!!! minecraft diaries :]! its this rlly old minecraft modded survival series/roleplay made by aphmau. it was started on march 11 2015 and went for three seasons (the third is unfinished and currently privated on the aphmau stories channel so the canonicity of it is dubious). its very much not worth watching bc its super shit and theres a lot of problems surrounding it such as serious subject matter dealt with poorly and genuinely just. bad writing. however its my childhood and i still really like a lot of the concepts such as shadow knights and the magic system, so i decided to rewrite it! also catboys are a canon thing

the storyline wasnt developed in the slightest til abt the midway point in s1? its very all over the place and there are so many plotholes and romance is pushed on every single character no im not joking and the main character is just a mary sue (along with her canon lover, aaron, who is just aphmaus husbands sona) who also happens to (spoilers) be literal god so thats fun

by the s3 point the other main series on the aphmau channel called mystreet (the same characters in an urban setting; they live in a cul de sac) had grown in popularity so they halted s3 production to focus on it. then that story got an actual plotline which to my reputable sources (see: mel and my ten year old sister) is absolute shit but idk ive never seen it and never will! but i digress the versions of the characters in mystreet are horrid caricatures of the actual characters and make them out to be so shallow and surface level and also laurance isnt even fucking in it for 80% of it which means that it suck /hj

there was at some point a diaries rebirth which has like? 20 eps i think? but thats on pause rn bc of covid and im not rlly a fan bc frankly they infantilize the main character from what ive watched in it and No Thank You! so yea :]! aphmau has other series such as my inner demons and void paradox (the vp concept is so sexy i rly like it ngl) which in the case of mid exist outside of the mcd universe (technically vp too but laurance shows up so not rlly) but theyre much less popular

ive never seen or even heard of anything like this beforehand when it comes to a magic system (even outside the world of mcd) and would love to hear more about it

So here's some minor worldbuilding about the rewrite. In the world of the rewrite, all living beings generate a magical energy unique to them. Is there a magical system here? What are endermen in your oc universe? How did maria and vermillion meet for the first time? Astros and vermilion?

I wanna add a d&d like magical system, but also something similar to the magiks in minecraft diaries.

Endermen are still endermen lol. But there are different types ! Astros is an end specific enderman (as opposed to a nether endemen or earth endermen)

Maria, Vermillion, and and Astros all met the night of their own individual missions. Maria's being to steal from their lord, Vermillions being killing the same lord with his bare hands, and Astros also being to assassinate the lord for being in a position of power over others.

I have an image in mind of Garroth, shield in front, slowly making his way through the battlefield with Vylad following closely, directing him where to go so he can get the perfect angle to take out enemy archers. When arrows rain down on them, Dante slips behind Garroth like Danny hiding from bullets behind Luke in Defenders (TV) and as they notch their next arrows Dante darts forth to thin out their numbers, using a body as cover to get back to Garroth, rinse and repeat. Slowly but inevitably turning the tide of the battle.

Thinking of giving Garroth a greatshield...

Garroth, a tank of a man in plate armor, carrying around a big ol' shield that weighs half of what his armor does all on its own. Standing up front in a battle with one of his guards hovering at his shoulder on the shield side so his shield nearly completely covers them too. Setting his stance and being used as cover for one of the archers to hide behind while they ready shots. Using the shield like a weapon to shove an enemy or beast away or herd them into an ally's space for the final blow.

so if they’re constantly reincarnating how is it that irene would constantly fight alongside them and watch them die every time? would she tell them who they are and they go “holy shit dude this lady is telling me i’m a divine warrior?!” or would they just slowly remember as they get older?

bc if irene gets tired of watching her friends die again and again, wouldn’t she not…. tell them that they’re the reincarnation of her friends?

is irene the actual only goddess? are there other gods? how did irene come to being? how tf did the minecraft diaries world even start? how does gene suddenly gain memory powers? can only gods gain the ability to create realms? why are meif’wa’s only humans with cat ears but werewolves have a wolf form?
