mom, what if i can't live up to your expectations?
you told me to grow up well, have a decent job, build my own family and live a fairytale in which no one runs away. you want me to grow up seamlessly, flawlessly navigate the twists and turns of life. however, life doesn't always unfold like a fairytale. challenges and uncertainties abound, and sometimes, despite our best efforts, some things just aren't meant to be. mom, i'm not too sure, but i think i want to plant a primrose garden near the abandoned railway wagon. the very place where i realized that i might possess a pig's brain instead of a human one. just like an idiot, my feelings are blooming in an unconventional space, far from comfortability, nowhere near stereotypical. my heart is brimming with uncertainty and i fear falling, i fear stumbling, yet an odd bravery inside me decides to keep embracing the uncertainty. mom, what if i can't live up to your expectations? i apologize. i can't promise you a fairy tale. i can't pledge sweet dreams and my narrative doesn't weave idle fantasies. but i'm selfish, so in the midst of all that, i still want you to be my mom; because my heart is a moving train and i will drive you to a sunnier place.
so, please be my mom. regardless of how idiotic my pig brain is and how quickly my primrose garden will wilt. no promises of perfection, just the commitment to ride the moving train together, through storms and sunshine, selfishness and selflessness, through seasons of loving and longing.

Monster 2023 (movie)
We follow three main point of view of the story in the movie. People ask for Yori's pov, but i don't think we can't have his pov, that's why :
The movie starts with the mother's pov then it switches to the teacher's pov because he is the monster in her story in her pov, for Mr. Hori the monster is Minato (in his pov he thinks the young boy is a bully) then the story switch to Minato's pov. I think the monster in Minato's pov is himself. The Point of view switches to the monster in the other story. (idk if it's understandable but i wanted to talk about it)
Yori isn't a monster in anyone pov. So with how the story is build we can't have his pov.
(+ we have a glimpse of the headmistress' pov after the mother and the teacher's one, she is kinda their monster too in a way.)

Monster (2023) or How we fail our children
Yesterday I watched "Monster" from 2023 which was such a well made film, not only in the sense of how it makes you care for each and every character but keeps you on your toes almost through the entire movie.
To me the movie struck a cord bc it seems like a warning. A warning to all of us, or maybe a reminder. To me the movie showed in multiple ways how the adults in the lives of children can greatly impact, detore and fail a child's life.
I'd first talk about Minato's mom. She's a very hard-working single mother, that tries everything to support her son, both emotionally and socially, through standing up and fighting for her son to get justice. It was amazing to see how she reacted calmly and understanding when Minato fumbled his room. She knew it was an outlet for him, not a provocation. So I think his mother is a heart-warming charcater whom we've seen expresses great support and concern for Minato, as a mother should. But what she, in my opinion, fails to do is to listen to Minato more. She says to him a couple of times how he "should grow up, have a family, have children." and he says: " I can' t be like father. (argo I cannot have a wife or children in the common way bc he himself understands that he does not like women, or maybe doesn't want a family like that or some other reasons, it is open for interpretation) And so these words we are all too familiar with- living our lives as one would say as everybody else does. Which for queer kids, folks, people is somewhat of a nuance.
Then we have Hori, the teacher, which we all see after, at his pov, that he takes care of children, teases them and helps them. He IS a good teacher, bc he is a good person, but he too fails Minato and Yori. He says " You are not man enough, not manly enough." very casually to then again tease, but that in itself drives Yori away. Yori says that to Minato when Minato suggests that Yori can confide in Hori for help. But Yori says :"He'd just say I am not man enough." And this is how we alianate children. To me is the weirdest thing ever, to push a child, a boy to be " a man" when they are a child first and foremost.
We have Yori's father of course which I would rather not speak of.
We have the principle, which in my opinion is so flawed, yet so understamding towards Minato. She's the one after all uplifts him and says that everybody deserves and can have happiness in their life. She essentially says: "You're not as damned and lost as you think you are."
At the end Minato and Yori find in each other the understanding that's been missing from their lives for so long, and they allow themselves to be children. Minato allows Yori to be "femenine" and he expresses to him: "You were always normal." He accepts him completely for who he is.
All of this leads me to belive that we as adults push them into a binary, we push them into roles, and we isolate them from themselves and us. Of course we all can agree that it is a queer movie through and through. But I think it also showcases in so many different ways, how adults tend to miscommunicate or repeat bad rethoric to them, making them feel alone and with no one to talk to besides each other.

Minato Mugino's Letter
Dear Yori Hoshikawa,
I used to be afraid of you, the same dumb reason everyone else believed was true. That you were a monster. But, you never were. You were just some boy who remembered the names of flowers, laughed and giggled like you knew everything in the world, smiled as if nothing was wrong. I know I could’ve stepped up for you many times in class, but the peer pressure got to me.
What even is a monster? Someone who’s done wrong? Wouldn’t that make us all monsters? I have so many questions - why you claim you have a disease - why you have a father like that - why you left me, alone with the planets in our safe place. Our little rocketship. I’m sorry for never standing up for you, for watching you get bullied for being you, for having a fight and covering you in paint (you looked beautiful in paint splotches). Still, to this day, I haven’t digested the term of sexuality, or gender, or anything like that, but I think I liked you. I think I cared about you, in some sort of way.
I think I liked you more than I liked the world. Hoshikawa Yori, I think you were my world, my monster, my sign of life. The planets in the solar system revolve around the sun just like I revolved around you. I mistreated you so many times to count, if I could redo it all I would. I would have taken you away from your dad. We wouldn’t have ran onto the tracks that day. You wouldn’t have to save me the way you did. We were in fifth grade, but I needed you.
Hey, remember the day you said you were moving? When you hugged me and I pushed you away? I wasn’t used to being touched like that. It felt like - too much for someone like me to handle. I never meant to hurt you, but how could you forgive me numerous times for harming you? Why can’t I say sorry and hear you forgive me?
"Monster where are you?” I’m here, flashing my light towards you. I hear the train tracks approach, my phone clutched in my hand. Let’s be reborn Yori, this time, I’m not letting go of you, let’s stay the same.
-Mugino Minato, your monster.

It's been a long time since I've been impressed by a film, but Monster, even though I already had high expectations, managed to truly surpass me in every way. the ending was emotional, I just didn't cry because there were so many thoughts at the same time, so much doubt, so much sadness and so much joy that I simply couldn't put the relief of tears into practice

All of this translation is in Bahasa and I don't have an energy to translate it back to English cause somehow I feel drained after watching 2 children fighting for their happiness
I mean how the hell this little kid is already think that if anybody know his secret, he will never be happy. Like dudeee, drop some weight from your shoulder and ask for help or explanation, whatever helps.
And I thought this principle right here is kinda sus but she already have something on her plate. Can't blame her with anything
And the most important thing is
📣JUSTICE FOR HORI SENSEI📣
Please (so I can sleep)
