SKY - AU CHALLENGE!

Here is my au challenge dedicated to Sky, I drew in my style 5 au that you recommended for the challenge to me! (My sister selected them, sorry I couldn't do them all)

Rail belongs to @casunnart (I really hesitated between drawing your Link OC, drawing Echo (I think it's his name?) and drawing Rail, because I love their designs, but I finally drew Rail ! And your Zelda story looks awesome !)

Okay so, around a year ago I redrew a panel of a comic, and I never actually showed it to anyone. Today, my friend told me to redraw it, and send it to the original creator, so @minas-linkverse , this is for you!

I'll send the original the creator made, and my remake!

(I just noticed I forgot the freckles ignore that-)

so i was rereading @minas-linkverse, and i wanna talk about just what kind of fascinating character feathers is. i'm basing my analysis on the panels above/their updates as well as this update. feathers is such a great character and there's a lot of details that showcase it but they're woven in so cleverly it took a re-read to catch them.

he's so. link in the way that he seems to take everything onto himself. it's self destructive in a way. he's like a candle burning himself out to keep everyone else warm. he can't relax at night he has to think about everyone and how he personally can manage to help them. it's clear that his journey changed him to be like this like. adventure isn't in his bones. he probably didn't long for far off lands. but he loves down to his core and he's the sort of person that wouldn't shuck any responsibility even if he wanted to. there's this ongoing thread that might be summed up as: is being a hero a choice or a curse? the answer for some of them might be, a little bit of both. like for masks and legend it's probably a curse. but for feathers it feels like it was a curse he decided to take on if that makes sense. like he knew it would curse him but he walked into it anyway.

i think there's parallels between this link (feathers) and fi. because as he crafts fi and slowly refines her, he is likewise crafting himself into a sword. he's getting sharper and dedicating himself more to a singular purpose. and he succeeded, obviously. but you can't go back to being iron or steel. he can't undo the process that made him into a hero, even if it may or may not have been in his original nature to become something that sharp. and so i think it's like after the war is over he's struggling to go back to having a soft edge, but he wants to. he wants to fit back into the niche he left but their shapes don't align anymore. even him taking on the task of delivering granny's letter to sailor just so he would take on the burden of the negative reaction. he manages everything he's struggling with by focusing outwards: if he only sees other people then he doesn't have to see himself.

this isn't sustainable of course. it's also not very obvious at first glance. like feathers looks like he's got it all together. but of course he doesn't - this whole trip involves people with massive unresolved traumas. if legend is like "I'm the one who always has to fix things" then feathers is "I'm the one who is responsible for all the things." and it's like a slight difference but it changes the way they see themselves in a major way, and how they feel their failures reflect back onto themselves and that's just neat!

Everyday I think about the ALBW Link in different Linkverses. I love him and think he's neat that's it 👍

Yoooooo I love everything about this update so much! It all flows so perfectly together! 🤩

Mini rightfully being a menace is a treat. 🤭

& The entire composition for Sky’s “two can play that game” panel is *chefs kiss. The way the feathers on his head are being highlighted? Brilliant! Balances the composition while thematically reinforcing how Mini is challenging Sky to his own game!

Yet while I emphasize with Mini here, Sky’s to-the-point & understandable question: “Why can a child do that?” Is SO well represented! The way Mini’s looking pointedly at the rupees & celebrates with a video-gamy looking symbol over his head… he looks so happy & unfazed! & THAT’S what disturbs Sky the most in this moment!

Meanwhile even Ravio & Twilight’s shenanigans thematically add to what’s going on. Ravio freaking out & screaming over a lil spider while Mini kills a monster? The dissonance!

Then towards the end, Twilight, a kind & gentle soul, saves the spider rather than killing it. IDK where I’m going with that point really, but it’s just the perfect balance of lightening the mood with something funny while still feeling thematically appropriate. 💞

I'm really proud of this update but PLEASE don't look too closely at which hands the boys are holding their swords I made a mistake sketching and had to flip a bunch of panels and I didn't think to check that part until it was too late aaAAAAAA-- Mini is left handed.

Look at all the Wildlings!

I wanted to draw other links meet aus, and here we are, 9 different botw/totk Links all together! I picked 9 different aus and tried to draw each of the links in the creator's style, and I think I succeeded, they're all pretty close actually! (Little note: no one cares but I'm very proud because I didn't trace any drawings at all and I didn't eyedrop the colors from the reference a single time)

I love Wild so much, the chaotic little gremlin. I also love your art style! It's very light and pretty. I know it's changed a lot, but all of them are nice. Wild needs a hug, everyone needs a hug, I'm going to break into the comic just to give them a hug, he deserves it. I love him so much, he inspires me, I want to be just like Wild, a chaotic little arson gremlin.

He seems very serious, I think he needs a hug. I love his hair, and his shirt(the dragons are really cool!). I love his little fairy friend too, I had to include her. I love your art style so much, I don't even know what to say about it, I just love how you do everything. The way you draw faces though are especially nice, I don't know, you have such a wonderful art style I want to steal it(I won't though)

Gurl, how many layers do you have on an average drawing??? Your characters are so detailed, also the lineart coloring? You must have infinite patience or something, I don't know how you do it. Also I love the way you draw hair, it's very fun, I want to draw hair like that more often. And the lighting, I love how you draw lighting, mind telling me how you do it? (I'm also stealing Tears' hat, it looks fun)

Arson boy, little gremlin, partner in crime, the ultimate hazard to society, I love him so much. He could light my house on fire and I wouldn't care, I love him. He looks like he could get away with just about anything, especially the way you draw him, he's very cute.

If I had a penny for every time we had the Hero Of Winds Link get into a heated argument with another Link in a Linksmeet comic over someone from before the flood they admire... I’d have two pennies, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it’s happened twice. 😆
