Mimetic Baby Chair
My theory was ‘’Mimetic Desire’’ and man is the creature who does not know what to desire, and he turns to others in order to make up his mind. We desire what others desire because we imitate their desires. And also imitation is the basic mechanism of learning. I started by thinking that babies learn the most by imitation. So I designed a baby chair and while I was designing, I placed a screen in front of the chair that would show what the baby was asked to do in the chair and be expected to imitate the vision. For example, if the baby is asked to eat broccoli, he or she can easily eat the broccoli by seeing a baby eating broccoli on the screen and imitating it. In addition, the chair was designed as a multi-functinal chair that can be opened as shown in the images and adapted for adult use.

The Head of John the Baptist, variants XLVI-L, the final 5 of the series. Lithograph 56 x 76 cm on 63 x 83 cm paper 2022 Available now at shop.vebjornpedersen.com Link in bio! «The Head of John the Baptist I-L» is a series of 50 lithographs in unique colour variants. The motif is taken from the Italian Baroque painter Guido Reni’s depiction of Salome with the Head of John the Baptist, painted 1630-1635. The series is the result of an exploration of lithography as a printing medium. The Biblical prophet’s head on the platter has an iconic quality and recognizability that opens the work up for experimentation with colour combinations and different graphic effects. Each variant is printed from up to 5 different lithographic stones. Each print is printed by hand and exists in only 1 copy. The series is inspired by a chapter in René Girard’s book, The Scapegoat, published in 1982. In the chapter the author gives a profound analysis of the Biblical tale of the prophets beheading. The series is a part of an overarching artistic exploration of Christian iconography and symbolism. #lithography #lithograph #litografi #litografia #printmaking #stonelithography #christianart #christiansymbolism #religiousart #religioussymbolism #johnthebaptist #thescapegoat #mimeticdesire #renegirard #guidoreni #nottodaysatan https://www.instagram.com/p/CgFGAJ5qgdE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
