2: What scene did you first put down? Oh it’s been so long ago I can’t say for certain, but I’m pretty sure it was either the hospital scene or the first Big Damn kiss in somewhere you feel free. I remember the hospital scene clicking in my head on one of my quarantine mental health walks, and it snowballed from there. 

9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic? Yes and no. I never really put any actual writing down on the initial idea, but it was listed in my notes as a Dair & Milo au in which Dair was the preestablished relationship, and Milo was coming into their lives after Georgina dies in an accident. A Life As We Know It kind of vibe, but, that plot, at least the Dan Inherits Milo after Georgie Dies is currently in the expert hands of another very talented writer, so no regrets!

11: What do you like best about this fic? I am really proud of how I wrote a kid. Kidfic is hard, and as someone who’s read a lot of fanfic, it’s hard to find a well-written child character, and it’s hard to write one! So I’m proud of the Milo Humphrey that’s come about in this universe, in all his loving, goofy, precociousness, and that he feels like a Child, but he’s not annoying. At least not to me!

15: What did you learn from writing this fic? That I did have it in me to write a child character? That was the thing I was most nervous about when I began this venture (over a year ago, wow!) because I knew just how challenging kidfic could be, but I know that I can do it, and that feels pretty good. I also learned a lot about the Columbia course catalog, only to end up using almost none of it in the actual published fic, but there is a link to a pdf in my outline, yes there is.
