YES bestie of course except... I really didn't have all that much (but fr for underrated duo. while I'm here have you heard of our lord and saviour 'society if CJ and Stanley had a scene together?')
Millie smiles, looking around the room. "Nice digs they put you up in." "Good compensation for this trip, which has no doubt taken about five years off my life." "Yours and mine," Millie says, sitting down in CJ's desk chair. "You sure there's nothing I can do for you, CJ?"
#the world needs more Millicent Griffith#and like speaking of things that only appeal to like five people (besides this gal here): mary kay place being in mash <33#tww

You're right about Gideon. His dialogue on Miquella is 90% about him being missing. What's your take on Miquella btw?
Don't quote me on this, but apparently Millicent in JP says, "The caution she abandoned to match R*dahn." Maybe this means Malenia bloomed deliberately. Or maybe it means her choosing to focus on fighting him instead of resisting the rot. Thus, risking a bloom. Assuming the trailer plays out in real-time, the Aeonia forms so quickly it might've caught Malenia off guard. Honestly, there's so much to discuss. But like you said, it's difficult to do that. People would rather bend over backwards to invent copium takes than admit the Big Warrior Dude couldn't/didn't defeat the gangly sickly lady. I've seen someone say he actually won because she didn't kill him.
Other than the points you've made, the funny thing about being mad at Malenia for attacking us is uh.. we're not framed as the good guys here. The Tarnished obtains the medallions via the Albinaurics, listens to Albus lament how they can't journey to the sanctuary, and then commits murder at said sanctuary anyway. Then when we kill Loretta, a mandatory boss before Malenia, the game tells us that she's here as she thinks the Haligtree is a safe haven. Basically in our journey to kill Malenia, we betray the trust of the needy and trample on what they think is their hope.
I genuinely love Miquella and hope we get to learn more about him in the DLC. He’s a character that I definitely feel has more going on than people may realise. I don’t subscribe to these theories of him being secretly evil though and I honestly can’t stand all these takes of him being a Griffith knock off. Seriously these guys see ‘Guy In Egg’ and go “Holy shit just like the hit manga Berserk!!” Like I get that’s where Miyazaki gets some of his inspiration from but that doesn’t mean every damn thing needs to be a Berserk reference lmao
Anyway, to me Miquella comes across as someone who genuinely has good intentions. A lot of this is plain to see and I think trying to look for the worst in him is such a reach at times. I don’t imagine Miquella to be this perfect saint by any means, but trying to make out that he’s potentially worse than any of the others is something I just can’t get behind. It’s like people are waiting for it to turn out like “Haha! He was actually the secret villain all along!” Folks love going on about how there’s no outright good and bad in this world and they love throwing around words like morally grey, but for some reason with Miquella they want him to be the worst shit in the lands between. We know he rejected the Golden Order primarily because they couldn’t (or wouldn’t?) help Malenia, but at the same time he goes on to build this sanctuary for those turned away by the Erdtree. He was essentially offered everything on a silver platter and still turned them down because to him they weren’t doing enough. For Malenia and for others who are considered ‘different’ by the order’s standards. They may be demigods but considering so are the omen twins and look at how they are treated, it’s obvious anyone who doesn’t fit into this Perfect Order is either considered not worth protecting or is wiped out. Miquella on the other hand obviously cares enough to want to change things. The idea some people have that he brainwashes his followers, again doesn’t quite sit right with me. We still don’t fully know what Miquella’s plans are and to me at least he doesn’t seem like he’s hell bent on conquering. Why would he need to brainwash and manipulate his followers though realistically? Unless it turns out that their affection and worship is how he gains his strength (which to me sounds stupid), why would he need to force people to follow him? But then again people say the same thing about Malenia with the cleanrot knights in that she infects them with rot and they are nothing more than braindead zombies who follow her. Even though it says they vowed to fight alongside her despite the inevitable putrefaction of their flesh, and that they accepted their fate. But going back to Miquella, I’ve seen this argument that because the Haligtree is hard to find that must mean he didn’t want people to find it.
Yeah, potential enemies.
You can’t just position a sanctuary like the Haligtree in the middle of the continent with big neon lights pointing at it saying “Come here if you’re being oppressed by that ugly ass tree over there.” And expect everyone to be fine with it. The place is already quite vulnerable as it is. It’s small and it’s situated below a cliff. If anyone were to attack it from the land I doubt they would last long. Keeping the Haligtree location secret is important if they wish to keep it, and it’s inhabitants, from harm. This is why I like to believe there were people, like Loretta, who knew of the location and would set out to help guide those in need.
About the bloom in Caelid though, I personally do think she did bloom intentionally. I think she made the conscious decision, however hard it may have been, to do something to break the tie. The fact she was the one to take the initiative doesn’t mean she was losing. It just means she had the conviction to actually do something. I do think however that the rot god could have possibly used this whole situation to it’s advantage and spread the rot throughout Caelid. Sensing that Malenia was weakened from the fight and her will to hold back the rot being at a low point, it may well have seized the opportunity to act through her. I don’t necessarily think Malenia intended to destroy the region, only that she wanted to isolate it to her enemy. With all that we’ve learnt about her and how she hates the rot and wants rid of it, I can’t imagine she would take pleasure in spreading it around the world. But of course all this was still a great risk and she couldn’t have know exactly how bad the outcome would be.
I agree with what you said about the tarnished. When you look at it we really aren’t framed as a good person throughout our journey. Whatever peoples personal headcanons are for their own character, the player character is kind of an asshole. We’re not even supposed to be from these lands and yet when we’re told by some random person to go kill everything just so we can become king of the ashes we gladly do it. There are some bosses in the game that I don’t even know why we fight. Malenia being one of them. It’s not even like we need her rune as we only need two to enter the capital and then they are never mentioned again. If Malenia were someone important in our quest you could understand going through all the hassle to get to her, but in the end we kill her for what? Her sword and her outfit? I know people go and fight her for the challenge and all that, it’s just lore wise there’s never really any need to go to the Haligtree.
Again thank you anon for allowing me to rant, and once again I’m sorry I take so long to reply!

it’s sad that ellie and her father had to struggle to build a good relationship but i actually really like that she takes after her mom more, that one bartlet daughter decided to become a doctor and that at the same time her mother’s friend who was made her godmother is also a doctor so ellie has always had someone sympathetic outside of her parents to turn to when life was hard and politics was scary, i just love ellie bartlet and her black sheep existence so much

KESTRELS SWOOP IN TO STEAL SPOT IN SEMI-FINALS FROM ARROWS
BY CORMAC HALLOWS, 28 June 1979. “Son of a Snitch” Sports section, pg. 3.
Wednesday’s game saw the Appleby Arrows take a bruising defeat by the Kenmare Kestrels and lose their spot in the semi-finals. The Arrows were looking strong coming into the quarter finals after defeating the Tutshill Tornadoes, but the English team couldn’t stand up against its Irish opponent this Wednesday.
Fans of the Arrows were bitterly disappointed right off the beater’s bat when the end of the season championship games were announced, with the Wimbourne Wasps nowhere in sight for the Arrows. Longstanding rivals, the Wasps and Arrows were both looking forward to another grueling match together as they’ve had every year during finals season. But the NQL board had other plans, apparently, facing the Wasps off against the Ballycastle Bats, whom they lost to last week with a final score of 520-480 in the Bats’ favor.
“We’re just happy to be moving into the semis,” Kestrels’ captain and seeker Alyssa Trenton said in an interview after the game. “We’ve worked really hard all season to get here, and we’re ready to make it to the finals.”
The Kestrels join the other three remaining teams, and will face off against Puddlemere United next week. Next Wednesday, the Holyhead Harpies will face off against Pride of Portree. Pride of Portree is the home team of current Minister, Millicent Bagnold, and have received the ringing endorsement of the Minister herself. Meanwhile the Harpies go into the semi-finals with high confidence after their painful defeat of the Caerphilly Catapults three weeks ago. The Harpies are fan favorites to win the championships.
Meanwhile, Puddlemere United has gained a more enthusiastic following since their defeat of the Ballycastle Bats. “I hope they get to the finals so we can see them take on the Harpies. It’s always more fun to watch when there’s some behind the scenes drama happening,” said one Harpies fan during the Arrows-Kestrels face-off this week. The behind the scenes drama is of course referring to the defection of chaser Wilda Griffiths from the Harpies to Puddlemere United. Puddlemere-Harpies games have always drawn a bigger crowd than most since a fistfight broke out at the first match between the two after Griffiths’ departure from the team, and fans are always hoping to see some action outside the game on the field again. “We’ve all had people screw us over at one time or another,” junior referee Denise Hairman said right after that first match. “It’s nice to know that people like them get just as pissed about that sort of thing as the rest of us do.” Puddlemere United and the Harpies will of course only face off against each other if they both make it to the finals, so fingers crossed for both teams to have victories against their semi-finals opponents.
Until then, we’ll cheer for our favorites, support our teams, and watch this upcoming week as we head into the last leg of the championship.

Abbey Bartlet for the character questions thing. Please & thank you.
Thank you, friend! 💜💜💜💜💜💜
favorite thing about them: I love that she's a pint-sized, badass nerd, who's smart and witty and looks absolutely amazing wearing her tight skirts and high heels and showing (more than) "a little décolletage".
least favorite thing about them: That she isn't in every episode. Or her hair in late season 4/season 5.
favorite line: Oh, this one's difficult! Let's go with "No need to call the steward, I'm board certified in thoracic surgery."
brOTP: Abbey & Millicent Griffith, the S(t)urgeon General. Millie's Ellie's godmother and she remembers Jed's college grades, so they're obviously close friends. So much potential there but sadly, men don't care about writing female friendships 😭😭😭😭😭
OTP: Abbey/Jed Jed/Abbey, two halves of one heart, one soul and one giant, nerdy brain!
nOTP: Any ship that isn't Abbey/Jed. I don't ship either of them with anyone else, including Leo, together or apart, sorry.
random headcanon: Abigail Bartlet, M. D. has never seen Grease 😂😂 and her college GPA was higher than Jed's.
unpopular opinion: Abbey Bartlet isn't Betty Rizzo. No similarities there, except, y'know, the fact that they were both played by the same actress. Oh and I really like her post-Zoey's kidnapping arch.
song i associate with them: Wow, I'm terrible at this. Okay, so it's not even the whole song, just the chorus, and it's this particular live performance, but Lana's sad "Tell me I'm your national anthem" just transports me directly into the first half of season 5.
favorite picture of them: Look at my avatar 😊

The Haunted Hollywood Sign
This famous Hollywood landmark perched atop Mount Lee overlooking the Hollywood hills was originally built in 1923 at a cost of $21,000. It was placed at this location to advertise a real estate development in Beachwood Canyon. Each original letter stood 50 feet high and 30 feet wide. The sign was illuminated by thousands of light bulbs. It was made out of wood and originally read “Hollywoodland”. The sign was meant to be temporary.
In 1939 maintenance on the sign was discontinued. In 1944 the original developers gave 455 acres to Los Angeles—this parcel included the sign. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce rebuilt the sign but did not replace the light bulbs or the last four letters because “Hollywood” was now synonymous with the movie industry. The sign was once again left to deteriorate until the late 1970s when a group of concerned citizens held a fundraiser. The original wooden sign was demolished and a new sign with steel letters replaced it.
The Hollywood sign is considered haunted because of one specific ghost that has been seen many times.
Millicent Lillian (Peg) Entwistle was born in Port Talbot, Wales in 1908 to English parents. At an early age her mother died, her father moved her and her two brothers to New York. Peg had one goal–to become an actress. Tragically, her father was run over by a car and killed. Her two brothers went to live with their Uncle Harold in California. But Peg stayed in New York to pursue acting. At 17 she got her first job with a Boston repertory company. She then acted on Broadway and toured around the country. She became known as a comedienne.
In 1927 she married Rolland Keith Richey, a man who was ten years her senior. Shortly after their marriage she was surprised to find that Robert Keith—her husbands stage name—had a six year old son from a previous marriage. To Peg’s credit when she was in the process of divorcing Robert she paid the back alimony he owed to his ex-wife which kept him out of jail.
In 1932 she was offered a part in the production The Mad Hopes” in Los Angeles. She received rave reviews; in fact, she received more attention than Billie Burke and Humphrey Bogart who starred in the play. Peg settled in Los Angeles. Finding only sporadic work she eventually moved into her Uncle Harold’s bungalow in Beachwood Canyon for financial reasons.
Peg was overjoyed when RKO offered her the part of Hazel in the film “Thirteen Women” starring Irene Dunne. But the movie opened to poor reviews and when it was re-edited Peg’s part mostly landed on the cutting room floor. Upset by the critics’ reviews Peg went into a depression. Shortly after this RKO informed her that they were not going to renew her contract, which threw her into an even deeper depression.
In September of 1932 after a night of drinking she told her uncle that she was meeting friends at a local drug store. Instead she walked toward Mount Lee. She placed her coat and purse at the base of the letter “H” at the Hollywood sign and then climbed a maintenance ladder and jumped. She was only 24 years old.
Two days later a hiker discovered her coat and purse and then spotted her body. Wanting to remain anonymous he left her coat and purse plus a suicide note he found on the steps of the local Hollywood police station. He left his own note to tell them where her body was located. Peg’s suicide note:
“I am afraid I am a coward, I am sorry for everything. If I had done this a long time ago, it would have saved a lot of pain.”
In order to discover her identity the local police published a description of Peg and the contents of the note she left in the local papers and requested radio stations describe her and read the note on-air. Peg’s uncle came forward to claim her body.
Many witnesses have seen Peg’s ghost in the vicinity of the Hollywood sign. Park Rangers and hikers over the years have reported seeing a young attractive blonde haired women wearing 1930s style clothing in Griffith Park. All these witnesses note that this ghost appears to be very sad. They often state when they approach her she just disappears.
One evening as a couple walked their dog along the Beachwood Canyon trail they noticed their dog was acting strangely. Instead of romping around on the trail and in the brush like he normally did he began to whine and hang back by them. A women wearing old-fashioned clothing appeared in front of them.
This did not disturb the couple, because they were used to encountering weird dress in Hollywood. But they did take note the women appeared very dazed. Concerned she might be drunk or on drugs they turned to leave but as they did so they were shocked to see her just vanish. This couple had not heard about Peg’s ghost before this encounter.
One Park Ranger, John Arbogast, has seen Peg’s ghost several times. He states she appears late at night especially when it is foggy. Arbogast has reported that he often smells the scent of gardenias when she is around. He finds this odd because he always smells this scent in cold weather months never during the summer. Arbogast also has described how the motion sensor alarms, that are in place at the sign these days ironically to prevent more suicides, go off when no one is around. He even states these sensors have indicated that someone is only five feet away from him—when he is the only one near the sign.

And then there was Steele (early steele eligible draft) recap
the plot is essentially the same, except laura submitted steele for the bachelor thing and there’s no millicent, so there’s also no jealousy between laura and steele and a lot more romance instead
steele hates surprises and is upset when laura drags him to the sports arena, but she knows how to persuade him (i suppose they did go a little overboard writing this bc this kind of promise looks more apt to ‘commited’ s4 laura)
now, this part makes no sense and i’m sure the writers knew it too - laura doesn’t like to apologize, or beg, and she certainly wouldn’t say ‘i love you’ so casually
ok, maybe there’s a little jealousy
after one of the bachelors dies they go back to the office and mildred reads the magazine article about steele
then steele goes through the notes in his pocket; some are romantic (one is about scuba gear in relation to sex?) while another one is someone saying the death was no accident and to meet that night at griffith park
turns out, it’s a dead bachelor lurking inside a bush.
after steele and laura have a gathering with all the living bachelors to suss them out, she gets one of their suspects to invite her over for dinner. steele drives her there and tells her to be careful
inside the house, she finds the bachelor’s dead, which brings us to the line who made it in ‘steele eligible’
after laura goes to 3 different bachelors apartments for dinner in one night, and steele interrogates a women’s rights activist, they regroup and steele suggests they go out for a stroll (laura had too much wine and has a headache)
he breaks a leg, exactly like in ‘eligible’, and laura offers to have him stay at her loft and help him bc she feels she owes him for saving her life … only he becomes a little spoiled in the process, being taken care of his every whim and whatnot. later, laura figures out the real culprit is alex, the man who owns the magazine. he visits her at the office and asks her for protection because his life is in danger, so she goes along with him to the sports arena where he says he has a meeting, even tho she knows it might be a trap. at the arena he admits his guilt - the other two bachelors where a red herring, his real interest was in killing the first one, who had fiugured out he used illicit funds to have that arena built. he also says he has steele hostage, but when they look for him, they can’t find him. the rest plays off much like ‘eligible’ … alex tries to push a weelchaired laura down the stairs but steele hops on his one good leg and shoves alex down, catching laura’s hand while the weelchair rolls away. steele breaks his arm too.
and … tag
#i love this script#and with a couple of adjustments could've easily made it to air imo#such a shame#remington steele

Describe your OCs As... Tag Game
Stole this one from @writingonesdreams (Based on this post by @develop-your-oc)
I'm going to take from across the whole pantheon of OCs, rather than limit myself to a specific universe.
Rules: Describe your OCs As...
⏳ TIME — dawn Elowyn o'Toreguarde (FF/Titan) because of the way she brings hope.
— noon Kathy Scott (Cryptid Series) because of the way she's so proactive
— dusk Farren Breakwood (FF/Titan) because of the way he walks the fine line between doing bad things for good reasons.
— night Aderyn Griffiths (TESIV: Oblivion, Modern AU) because she's a loner who does her best work in the dark.
🤝 RELATIONSHIP — friend Edelweiss (n/a) As long as you mean no harm to him or his mountain meadows you'll be treated as a friend, alongside a host of animals and plants.
— lover Aylun Lingenhall (FF/Titan) because she's sensual, attentive and a fantastic kisser.
— ex Gorumn (From Before it Shatters). He's a piece of work. Sly, manipulative, wilfully obtuse. He's That ex.
— enemy Kellandra Rinonn L'Rue (From Tusomov). No matter what you do, she's aggressive, defensive, and will assume the worst of everything said.
✨ SEASON — spring Talis (TES). He's very energetic, and always hopeful even if it's sometimes a tremulous hope, like the first struggling days of spring.
— summer Millicent Wauters (FF/Titan) because she's bright, chirpy, incorrigible. You just can't help but be her friend & she can't help but be yours.
— autumn Asuka Rackell (The MOW Files) because somedays she's bitter, icy storms, and other days she's full of warmth and sunshine.
— winter Tana Papowski (The MOW Files). Cold and calculating, even her friendship is like walking on a frozen lake.
🌀 DESTRUCTION — tornado Cookie (Starwars). If there's one character who could take up all the "destruction" set it would be Cookie. A grey force user with bare control over her excessive powers, she's several dire accidents in a trenchcoat.
— wildfire Kellandra Rinonn L'Rue (From Tusomov). I wasn't going to reuse characters, but K'Rin is too perfect. Her anger flares and consumes, but quickly eats itself up.
— earthquake Alexis Dalliance (FF/Titan). Where she hits is catastrophic - but it's the aftershocks that ripple outwards that are more likely to get you killed.
— tsunami I can't think of anyone who matches this
🌄 LANDSCAPE — mountain I can't think of anyone who matches this
— forest I can't think of anyone who matches this
— ocean Mio (Starbound). I feel like this might be cheating because the Hylotl race is amphibious and canonically evolved in the oceans.
— desert Ronald (The MOW Files). He's a very dour character, dryly sarcastic and a bit prickly.

#tag game#describe your oc as... game#meta wandering words#original character#okay this was kind of hard trying not to reused characters#that's a self-imposed extra challenge btw and not expected from what I can see

The more I think about it the more wildly inappropriate Millicent Griffith’s behavior towards Josh is in Ellie. As far as we know they don’t have a relationship outside work, though he does call her Millie and it’s her character’s first introduction, but even so any history they do have is almost certainly professional and they’re at work where she knows he’s there representing the president and she does the following:
Interrogates him about his health and recent traumatic near-death experience
Discusses seeing his scar (which is on his chest) without his knowledge while he was unconscious in hospital
Asks him if he’s in pain and when he says yes tells him it’s all in his head (worse when you consider he’s just been diagnosed with PTSD and while she wouldn’t know that she is a doctor and she knows what he’s been through and it’s a not a secret that his behavior was off, do the math)
Like?? Maybe they could have avoided the plot of this episode by just firing her for harassing a senior staffer

Dude how did the 12 year old me go to school every day, play video games for 10 hours after school, sleep for 3 hours, repeat for YEARS while eating like absolute dog shit and still not manage to even get so much as a headache. Now I think about the wrong thing and I get a cold.

Surgeon General Millicent Griffith : You eat like you’re still in college. Josh Lyman : I was in great shape in college. Surgeon General Millicent Griffith : You were 19 in college. You could eat Tupperware and your system would deal with it.]
