I don’t know why this suddenly came to me at midnight, but the cast of trigger happy havoc went to high school is the early 2010’s. Meaning they heard songs like Numa Numa, leek spin and caramelldansen, and gangam style. They probably played on club penguin and Gaia online. They probably did the cinnamon challenge! And I am in a massive spiral thinking about them as normal teenagers. And all I’m seeing is Byakuya doing dumb dances against his will, mondo doing the cinnamon challenge, Chihiro teaching how to do caramelldansen, and Makoto happily joining in on all the dance videos.

what is the relationship like (or encouraged to be like) between aedric’s spouses? are they involved too or is it more of a sister wife situation? can they take lovers?

friendliness between peaceweavers is not required at all or even expected. Often it’s jealousy for their children’s inheritance that causes problems between them, but Miline has no children (yet? I feel it’s deliberate on her part)and Esti wasn’t born to Aedric and Esther until four years in.

After a short while, peaceweavers can send for favorite servants or even cousins or whatever from their homes to come join them, and it’s common that they make friends with people in court— they don’t have to hang out with one another.

However, Esther and Miline are fairly close. This is because Miline came only a year after Esther, and for a while the three of them were very close. Like, share Aedrics bed at the same time close. Miline saw Esther as a mentor on how to be a peaceweaver, and how not to be homesick, and Esther was happy to be that for her. Miline didn’t want to leave her sisters or her home. She was homesick and miserable at first. Esther had felt annoyance/jealousy at a new peaceweaver so soon, but couldn’t hold it against her once she met her <3

Aedric had just married Esther the summer before and not planned to take another peaceweaver only a year later, but there was an emergent issue with the southerlands, about taxes on their shipping lanes that got strained by things like their worsening pirate problem and an unusual, once in a hundred year kind of frost that killed a bunch of crops and everybody was going to starve, etc. It got so contentious that king thyran gave a temporary tax relief and had Aedric take a southerly peaceweaver. He said she needs to bring a bunch of cousins and uncles and servants and what have you and we need to smooth this over (the southerlands are a crucial part of the kingdom) Anyway that’s how he ended up with two so quickly.

They cannot officially take lovers outside of Aedric and each other if they want, but really, that’s stricter for Esther, and mostly just about having a child out of wedlock. Since she’s the first peaceweaver and highborn, her children are heirs, and obviously that’s a big deal if she’s having other people’s children. Miline can probably do whatever she wants, just be discreet about it, like Aedric suggested Roan should’ve been about the whole religion thing. (If Esther’s children died, Miline’s would become heirs, though, so she better not be having any of those out of wedlock either.)

They were all young then and it’s been nine years since miline came, and everything about the situation with Roan is different, especially with the Tercet leaders tossing him in prison immediately.
