TV on TV!
Part 3 ~ The Television Shows of the Lucyverse
Although it may seem redundant, the worlds created by Lucille Ball on television frequently created and mentioned other TV shows as well as popular TV commercials!  Here are a few from âHereâs Lucyâ (1968-1974), and one from âLife With Lucyâ (1986).Â
âLucy Visits Jack Bennyâ (1968)
At the end of the episode, bus driver Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleason) makes an appearance at Bennyâs barbecue. Gleason played the iconic character on his own variety show as well as the sitcom âThe Honeymoonersâ (1955-56).Â
âLucyâs Impossible Missionâ (1968)
Lucy mistakenly enters a phone booth meant for a secret agent and becomes embroiled in a mission impossible. This episode is a spoof of the TV series âMission: Impossibleâ (1966-73) which was a Desilu / Paramount series. Had Lucille Ball not given the nod to the series in 1966, there would be no Mission: Impossible movies today! Â
The episode uses the âMission: Impossibleâ theme and original underscoring by Lalo Schifrin. The theme won a Grammy Award earlier in 1968. The instantly recognizable theme song is saved for the final chase sequence.Â
âLucy and Carol Burnettâ (1969)Â Â Â
Lucy convinces Carol Burnett to participate in a benefit to raise money for Kim and Craigâs high school gymnasium.Lucy and the kids attend a taping of âThe Carol Burnett Show,â a CBS program that Lucille Ball herself had already appeared on twice as a guest star and would return to twice more. "The Carol Burnett Showâ always opened with her taking questions from the studio audience, so this is recreated on âHereâs Lucyâ. A new episode of âThe Carol Burnett Showâ aired at 10pm on the same evening this âHereâs Lucyâ was first broadcast.Â
âHereâs Lucyâ attempts to physically reproduce âThe Carol Burnett Showâ studio and stage, even using the CBS eye gold curtain. The audience section, however, is much smaller on âHereâs Lucy.â
âLucy and Tennessee Ernieâs Fun Farmâ (1969)
A farmer (Ernie Ford) wanders into the Unique Employment Agency in need of farmhands. Instead, Lucy proposes they turn his farm into a vacation spot for city folks. They start with a TV variety show and commercial to get the word out!Â
The commercial that Lucy and Harry do for Ernieâs Fun Farm gives us a glimpse of them as a dysfunctional married couple, complete with two typical teenage kids!
The commercial turns into a fully-staged musical revue.
âLucy and the Used Car Salesmanâ (1969)Â
When the Carters want to become a two-car family, Kim and Craig visit a used car dealer named Cheerful Charlie (Milton Berle).
Cheerful Charlie makes his pitch using a television commercial.
In the commercial, Charlieâs chatter is chock full of alliterative chit-chat! Â
âLucy and Johnny Carsonâ (1969)Â
When Harry takes Lucy and the kids to the filming of an educational TV show, Lucy wangles their way into âThe Tonight Showâ instead. Playing âStump the Bandâ, Lucy and Harry win dinner at the Brown Derby. Â
From 1968 to 1980 Lucille Ball made 16 appearances on âThe Tonight Showâ with Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon. One appearance was just two weeks before this episode initially aired. âHereâs Lucyâ recreates the stage and studio audience of âThe Tonight Showâ. The iconic multi-colored stage curtain is reproduced and the showâs theme music is used.Â
In the office, Ed leaves Johnny a box containing a small tape recorder that leaves a message vowing he will âgo on the wagonâ. During the playback, the âMission: Impossibleâ music plays on the soundtrack. The message concludes with âThis tape will self-destruct in five seconds.â  This is a spoof of the TV series âMission: Impossibleâ(1966-73), which was a Desilu / Paramount series.Â
After Craig jokes that Kim should wear three earrings, she quips âVery funny. Which one are you today? Rowan or Martin?â This is yet another of almost bi-weekly references to âRowan and Martinâs Laugh-In,â âHereâs Lucy'sâ phenomenally successful competition on ABC. Â Â
âLucyâs Burglar Alarmâ (1969)
When Lucy surrenders a measly $1.19 to the burglar (Guy Marks), he remarks âFor this I had to miss âLaugh-Inâ?âÂ
âLucy and the Generation Gapâ (1969)
Kim and Craig are in charge of producing the school play. In a nod to Desiluâs series âStar Trekâ (1966-69), at the opening of the space age segment, Craig (with the help of the Desilu special effects department) materializes in a transporter tube. Beam me up, Lucy!
âLucy and Lawrence Welkâ (1970)
VIVIANÂ (To âLawrence Welkâ): âI watch your show every Saturday night!â
When Vivian visits, she expects Lucy to fulfill her promise to arrange a date with Lawrence Welk. Lucy doesnât know Welk, so she borrows a wax dummy and convinces Vivian to give up her glasses. âThe Lawrence Welk Showâ began airing in June 1955 and had a remarkable 16 year run on ABC TV before being syndicated for a further 11 years ending in 1982. Welk was as associated with Saturday nights as Lucille Ball was with Mondays. Two days before this episode first aired (January 17, 1970) Welkâs guest was Ted Mack, legendary bandleader and talent scout.
âLucy and Ann-Margretâ (1970)
A chance meeting with Ann-Margret leads to songwriter Craig performing with her on television. On December 6, 1969, Lucille Ball guest-starred on âAnn-Margret: From Hollywood with Loveâ on CBS. Ball played herself and a character named Celebrity Lu, an autograph hound, opposite Autograph Annie (Ann-Margret).
âLucy Competes with Carol Burnettâ (1970)
Lucy dresses like a charwoman identical to the character created by Burnett for her variety series âThe Carol Burnett Showâ. When Carol Krausmeyer (disguised as a hippie reporter) asks how Lucy Carter thought up such a goofy outfit, Lucy replies âfrom some goofy dame on TV.â Â Carol says âWell, she must be some kind of nut!â
âLucy Loses Her Coolâ (1970)
Lucy goes on "The Art Linkletter Showâ and is challenged not to lose her temper for 24 hours in order to win $500. Lucy Carmichael also appeared on âThe Art Linkletter Showâ on âThe Lucy Show.â Lucille Ball appeared on âHouse Party with Art Linkletterâ in 1964.
âLucy and Flip Go Legitâ (1970)
Lucy takes a temp assignment with Flip Wilson in order to answer his fan mail. Although it is never explicitly stated, Flip Wilson is preparing for his weekly television variety show âFlipâ (1970-74). His most famous creation is Geraldine, a sassy woman with the catch phrase âThe devil made me do itâ and an unseen boyfriend named Killer. In the episode he is rehearsing a âThree Musketeersâ sketch.Â
âLucy and Mannix are Held Hostageâ (1970)
Lucy happens to see three crimes in one day.  Convinced thugs are after Lucy, Harry contacts his old friend, private eye Joe Mannix (Mike Connors). The private detective series âMannixâ from 1967 to 1975, which ran on CBS concurrently with âHereâs Lucy.â âMannixâ was an hour-long crime drama that was saved from the scrap heap by Lucille Ball when she was in charge of Desilu Studios. CBS planned to cancel the show after one season, but Ball used her influence to convince them to renew it with the assurance that changes would be made. In the second season, Joe Mannix was changed into a more hard-boiled independent private detective. The changes worked and the series became a big hit running for eight seasons. It was the last successful TV show to be produced by Desilu. Â
âLucy and the Astronautsâ (1971)
Harry takes Lucy along to a NASA splash-down, but before the astronauts can be medically cleared, Lucy has kissed them forcing Lucy and Harry to join the space travelers in isolation. Before reporting to an aircraft carrier to watch the splash-down, Lucy watches a moon walk on TV at home. Apollo 15 was launched on July 30, 1971, just a few months before this episode aired. The two-day mission sent astronauts David Scott and James Irwin to the moon.
âLucy Helps David Frost Go Night-Nightâ (1971)
Television host David Frost hires Lucy as his traveling companion to assure that he gets some sleep on his flight to London. When she gets to London, she is so exhausted she falls asleep on his television show. Frost hosted a US talk show âThe David Frost Showâ from 1969 to 1972. The evening this episode first aired âThe David Frost Showâ featured Frost interviewing Lauren Bacall. Starting in 1970, Lucille Ball appeared on âThe David Frost Showâ five times, with the fifth appearance just two weeks before this episode first aired.
Complimenting David Frost, Lucy mentions that she saw him on âThe Carol Burnett Show.â Frost appeared on the variety show in May 1971, six months before this episode first aired.
âLucy and Candid Cameraâ (1971)
Allen Funt has a criminal impostor who recruits Lucy, Harry and Kim to commit robberies under the pretense that they are doing stunts for his âCandid Cameraâ television show. âCandid Cameraâ began on radio as âCandid Microphoneâ and moved to television in 1948. Although aired on all three major networks and in syndication, the radio program was originally aired on CBS and sponsored by Philip Morris, just like âI Love Lucy.â Â
âLucyâs Lucky Dayâ (1971)
To capitalize on what seems to be a lucky streak, Lucy goes on a TV game show. Dick Dunkirk (Dick Patterson) is the host of âThe Milky Way to Richesâ sponsored by Dover Dairy. Lucy must answer three geography questions to qualify to earn a chance to win $1,000: Â
DICK: Where is the lowest point in the world below sea level? LUCY: Oh, boy. Â Iâm dead, see â ~Answer: The Dead Sea DICK: The Dead Sea is part of the border between Jordan and what other country? LUCY: Oh, boy. Â That question is real tough â ~ Answer: Israel DICK: Itâs an autonomous region of China, bordered by China on the north and east, by India on the south and Cashmere on the West. Name this Chinese autonomous region. LUCY: And I wanted to bet Iâd win. ~Answer: Tibet
After answering three questions, Lucy has to pick between three doors, just like on the TV game show âLetâs Make a Deal.â Lucy picks door #2, which is the gag prize, an untrained chimpanzee named Jackie, which she must teach to do a trick to get the money.Â
âLucy and Joe Namathâ (1972)
Lucy and Namath watch âThe National Football League's Salute to the Quarterbackâ on her TV. Actual clips of Namath on the field for the New York Jets (#12) are featured.
Namath is delighted, but Lucy cringes at the physical violence.  Coincidentally, âHere's Lucy'sâ main competition during the 1972-73 season was ïżœïżœMonday Night Footballâ on ABC. The night this episode first aired the Oakland Raiders bested the Houston Oilers 34 to 0.
âLucy is Really in a Pickleâ (1973)Â
LUCY: âThank goodness I remembered to bring Polly Parkerâs Perky Pickles. Mmmm, theyâre delicious! Yes, Polly Parkerâs Perky Pickles make any picnic perfect. Pollyâs Pickles will tickle your pallet. So next time youâre planning a picnic, pick up a pint of Polly Parkerâs Perky Pickles.â
Lucyâs show business aspirations get her cast in a pickle commercial. Her alliterative pitch is foiled by the sour taste of the pickles, just like the alcohol in Vitameatavegamin was the undoing of Lucy Ricardoâs television commercial.Â
The TV camera in the studio is labeled KBEX COLOR. Similar to the way 555 is the prefix used for fictional telephone numbers, KBEX were the call letters for fictional TV and radiostations. They were used in many TV shows and films, including in Desiluâs âMannixâ and âMission: Impossible.â
When the commercial pitch is suddenly changed to a duet song and dance number, Lucy and Kim become singing and dancing pickles - literally.
âLucy and Chuck Connors Have a Surprise Slumber Partyâ (1973)
When Connors is filming a movie in Lucyâs home, Harry mentions that he is also the star of a popular television show. âThrill Seekersâ was a syndicated television series that was produced in 1973 and 1974. Hosted by Connors, it featured people who did dangerous stunts. In Lucyâs kitchen, Connors wears his orange âThrill Seekersâ jacket. The name of the show is stitched on the sleeve. Lucy tells Connors that she has seen âThe Riflemanâ reruns three or four times. âThe Riflemanâ was a Western television program starring Chuck Connors as rancher Lucas McCain. The show aired on ABC from 1958 to 1963.
âLucy Plays Cops and Robbersâ (1973)
When Harry panics after being locked in the closet by the burglar, Lucy slaps him and he says âThanks. I needed that.â Â This is a reference to a ubiquitous TV commercial for Mennen Skin Bracer Menâs Cologne. The TV ads originally starred John Goodman (âRoseannâ). Â
âMilton Berle is the Life of the Partyâ (1974)
Milton Berle appears on a TV telethon auction raising money for a Day Care Center Fund. Berle offers his services as a guest at a party thrown by the highest bidder - Lucy!Â
âLucy Carter Meets Lucille Ballâ (1974)
A televised Lucille Ball look-alike contest is sponsored by Mais Oui Perfume. Lucy and Kim hope to win the grand prize - a sports car. The episode opens with Lucy and Kim rushing home to catch a movie on television.
âLucy Gets Her Wires Crossedâ (1986)
With competition from other hardware stores, Lucy gets Curtis booked on a morning TV show as Mr. Fix-It. Lucy goes along as his helper and ends up gluing herself to everyone!  âWake Up Pasadenaâ is hosted by Fred Dunlap (Dick Gautier) and Stacy Reynolds (D.D. Howard).
LUCYÂ (to Curtis): âLet grandma be on television!â

Shrinking: Season 2 â TV Review
TL;DR â It is rare when a series can both genuinely make me laugh down to my core yet also deliver one of the most potent emotional slaps to the face that I have ever gotten. âââââ Rating: 5 out of 5. âI saw no reason for his death,â she says of Todd, who was killed in an airplane crash thirteen months after theyâd been married, leaving her with their six-month-old daughter, Liza (Taylor had already had two sons, Michael Wilding, Jr., and Christopher Wilding, by her second husband). âFor several years I couldnât figure out why I wasnât on that plane with him because I was supposed to have been. Then it became clear. If Iâd been on that plane I would never have met Richard.â
Richard Burton, her fifth and sixth husband (they first married in 1964 and divorced a decade later, then married again in 1975 and divorced a year later), was, by her account, her second great, if tumultuous, love. In between Todd and Burton there was a five-year marriage to singer Eddie Fisher, of whom Taylor says: âEvery time I married, I thought it would be forever, but I have no idea why I married Eddie. We talked about Mike all the time. Eddie had known him and idolized him, so it was a way of keeping Mike alive. I guess thatâs pretty sick.â
Burtonâs name, on the other hand, still brings tears, so much so that at one point, mid-reminiscence, she actually leaves the room. âI loved him for twenty-five years. We had a unique relationship. I was still madly in love with him the day he died andâhe loved his wifeâbut I think he still loved me, too. I thought heâd always be there, at the other end of the phone. Even if we werenât together, he was still in the world. When I realized I would never hear his voice again or see his face, his eyes...if I hadnât been to Betty Ford before his death, I donât think Iâd be around.â

This came to me in a haze but
Gravity falls the musical
Mike Faist as Bill Cipher (listen to their voices side by side... I think he could do a bill cipher singing voice so well)
Leslie Odom Jr as Stan/Ford (mainly think he'd be great great great ford... I kinda feel like to work Stan/Ford should be a double role)
Reeve Carney as fiddleford
And unknowns for dipper Mabel Gideon etc
Gideon, intermission, then bill
Act one will start with the pilot and adapt the first Gideon episode (sets up the failed romances and Gideon) a song about dippers crush on Wendy that kinda amalgamates that whole plotline, id push the puppet show earlier to act one to set up the failed romances plotline, set up the Mabel Dipper bond, and have bill be in more of the musical since it's shorter, a Soos song, Wendy Robbie breakup scene, ending the act with the mindscape episode and bill making the deal with Gideon in a big number that ends the act.
Intermission, then the rest of that storyline with stans mind , bill semi defeated, and Gideon sent to jail. Immediately to the blind eye storyline, and then full focus on the portal, a tale of two stans, and wierdmageddon, which would resolve the dipper Wendy plot, the Mabel plot, and the cipher plot all at once.
It would have more of a focus on the themes of the final arc, of the siblings relationships and their foils to their grunkles, with Bill cipher as the big sell of the musical the way Beetlejuice was for Beetlejuice. Yk, making meta jokes and being like "please no flash photography" etc.

With the infamous words, "Somehow, Palpatine returned," the end of the third Star Wars trilogy premiered on December 20, 2019. There had been plans to focus on Han in the first movie, Luke in the second, and Leia the third, but the death of Carrie Fisher changed those plans. Producers decided to inlcude her primarily through using unused footage. To help with the nastalgia for the original trilogy Billy Dee Williams returned as Lando Calrissian, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine, Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Mike Quinn and Kipsang Rotich as Nien Nunb, Warwick Davis as Wicket, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Denis Lawson as Wedge Antilles and R2-D2. Returning from the new trilogy were Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Domhall Gleeson (General Hux), Lupita Nyong'o (Maz Kanata), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Amanda Lawrence (Comander D'Acy), Billy Lourd (Lt Connix) and BB8. There were a lot of voice cameos by Shirley Henderson (Babu Frik), J.J. Abrams (D-0) , James Earl Jones (Darth Vader), Matthew Wood (Cai Threnalli), Andy Serkis (Snoke), Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker), Olivia D'Ablo (Luminara Unduli), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), Jennifer Hale (Aayla Secura), Samuel L Jackson (Mace Windu), Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi), Frank Oz (Yoda), Angelique Perrin (Adi Gallia), Freddie Prinze Jr (Kanan Jarrus), and Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon Jinn). John Williams who composed the scores for all three of the original trilogies made a cameo appearance. There were also cameos by Richard E Grant, Keri Russel, Dominic Monaghan, Jeff Garlin, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ed Sheeran, Kevin Smith, and Karl Urban. The action took place at Ajon Kloss, Pasaana, Kijimi, Kef Bir, and Exegol. ("Star Wars Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker" Star Wars Movie Event).

BHFP Masterlist / Mobile Links
PERMANENT HIATUS.
If you want to keep track of the gifs that I've made, I will be making a new "Gif Packs by Dax" profile that will be a sideblog to my new main page. My old blog @thepnwvarmints will be deactivated along with all of it's side blogs over time, this bein' one of those. Sorry, Boyd fans. Someone targeted my profile and Tumblr stopped approving my appeals, even though it wasn't explicit. Not much I can do other than move profiles. Take care and stay safe!
Much love...

Peter Lorre with Other People Post
Candid Peter Lorre photos where he's at parties or hanging out behind the scenes.
Look at our suave boy Peter with Gary Cooper and Madeline Carroll, 1936:
During the filming of Mad Love (1935), Peter chats with Maureen OâSullivan:
I would put this next one in the mid-1930s. I don't know the women are, but the gentleman looks like George Sanders. And it looks like Peter is growing his hair back from Mad Love and getting into Crime and Punishment:
Here on the set of Mysterious Mr Moto (1938), Peter is with visitor John P. Marquand and director Norman Foster:
Jimmy Durante visited the Duchess Club on set of "All Through the Night" (1942), to serenade Kaaren Verne, Humphrey Bogart, Peter, and William Demarest:
Here's Peter with Jimmy Durante again, and heavyweight champ Max Baer Lon Chaney Jr. This pic looks like it was later in Peter's timeline than the one above. And yet captions elsewhere say 1938! (thank you, @peterlorres21stcentury):
And here are the infamous Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart, and Peter Lorre dining pictures (plus that's Kaaren Verne coming in at the right!):
Here is Peter with Michael Rennie, actress unknown (by me), 1950s:
And on September 27, 1956, Peter Lorre had a conflab with Joe E. Brown, and Wallace (Wally) Ford at a party at Romanoff's, LA:
And here, we're on the set of Around the World in 80 Days (1956), with producer Mike Todd, Jr., and visitor Denholm Elliott. Damn right you're shaking Peter's hand. You are in the presence of GENIUS!

So this has been something that's been asked for a few times, so after a long times work, here we have it! A hypothetical voice cast for the characters of Autobot Academy. If there's a character you don't see, it's as we don't want to rush figuring out a character. We may update this list in the future, however it'll be in our own time, so we won't be taking any questions about specific missing characters. And hey, if you have your own voices that don't match up with these, then feel free to stick with that!
Autobots
Yuri Lowenthal - Hot Shot/Excellion II/DF Hot Shot/Ben Tennyson
Ashley Eckstein - Lightbright/Maxima/DF Lightbright
Tara Platt - Artillery/Maelstrom/ CG-11272017

Raza Jaffrey as Dr. Neal Hudson, an ER attending physician. A British-Indian former surgeon, his approach is quieter and more people-oriented, than his mentor Dr. Rorish. He connected with Christa during her first year of residency. In "Hail Mary", Hudson becomes a surgical attending, and is once again assigned to the ER (season 1).[7][8]
Bonnie Somerville as Dr. Christa Lorenson, a mature first-year resident. She was married with a son who died of brain cancer. Her experience and her divorce inspired her to attend medical school (season 1).[7]
Melanie Chandra as Dr. Malaya Pineda, a first-year resident (seasons 1â2). She went to medical school and did her internship at Angels Memorial, and is more familiar with the ER. She is a lesbian, who was once involved with a resident when she was a medical student.
William Allen Young as Dr. Rollie Guthrie, an ER attending physician with a very nurturing style; he takes Angus under his wing in his first days in the ER. Guthrie's wife committed suicide, a death that strained his relationship with his son, a surgeon. During season 2, Guthrie is diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and undergoes corrective neurological surgery to delay the onset of symptoms. Guthrie had a daughter who died from carbon monoxide poisoning while Guthrie tried to save his son from a similar death.
Harry Ford as Dr. Angus Leighton, a first-year resident. His father is on the hospital board. He feels overshadowed by that and by the achievements of his older brother, a former resident, but slowly grows in confidence. In his second year he is encouraged to transfer and become a surgical resident.
Benjamin Hollingsworth as Dr. Mario Savetti, a first-year resident. He grew up poor and sees emergency medicine as his way out. He worked as a bartender before medical school.
Luis GuzmĂĄn as Jesse Salander, known as "Mama". A senior nurse who manages the residents, Jesse is tough but caring and supportive of the students. He and Dr. Rorish have a long-term, close friendship.
Boris Kodjoe as Dr. Will Campbell, Chief of Surgery. In season 2 he is assigned as the new Chief of the combined Surgery and Emergency medicine department in order to save costs, causing strife between him and Rorish. Campbell has a disabled daughter (season 2â3; recurring in season 1).
Jillian Murray as Dr. Heather Pinkney, a surgical resident who becomes involved with Mario.(season 2; recurring in season 1). He quickly ends it when he hears about her side relationship with Dr. Campbell. She gets in further trouble when it's revealed she's providing Angus with Adderall. When confronted by Campbell, she threatens to turn their past relationship into a sexual harassment case.
Noah Gray-Cabey as Elliot Dixon, a first-year resident in the ER (season 2-3).
Emily Tyra as Noa Kean, an ER resident and former dancer. She begins a relationship with Dr. Mario Savetti (season 3; recurring season 2)
Emily Alyn Lind as Ariel Braeden (season 3; guest seasons 1â2)
Shiri Appleby as Dr. Carla Niven, a former resident at Angels Memorial and Malaya's ex-girlfriend. She is diagnosed with leukemia while pregnant, and refuses treatment not wanting to harm the baby.
Christina Vidal as Dr. Gina Perello, the replacement Director of the Emergency Department at Angels Memorial, who takes over when Dr. Taylor is put on leave.
Gabrielle Carteris as Amy Wolowitz, R.N., a nurse in the Emergency Department.
Meagan Good as Dr. Grace Adams, returns to the ER after volunteering in Haiti. She is Dr. Neal Hudson's ex-girlfriend.
Season 2[edit]
Nafessa Williams as Charlotte Piel, a new first-year resident in the ER who was formerly a popular teenaged actress.
Kathleen Rose Perkins as Dr. Amanda Nolan, a psychiatrist at the hospital.
Season 3[edit]
Tyler Perez as Diego Avila, son of a hospital board member and a first-year resident. He drives the staff and patients crazy by filming them to make a documentary about the Angels ER.
