Here’s a sweet and sad little fact, I used to listen to “4/20/02″ by Pearl Jam quite a lot last year as a painful way to sober myself up during my addiction. To remind myself of what I was doing and what I could do to the people I love. It honestly just made me cry because Ed’s singing some devastating truth and you can just hear it in his voice and it’s heart-breaking. I relate to the lyrics a lot.

Now, I only had it downloaded on my Spotify through a playlist. Sometime this year, I discovered that it had been deleted from my playlist. I was really confused at first and a little sad, it’s a raw but beautiful song. For those that don’t know, the song is on the compilation album “Lost Dogs” and it appears as a hidden track on the last song of Disc 2, “Bee Girl” after a few minutes of pure silence.

I’ve been meaning to get Lost Dogs on CD and being the curious cat that I am, I read through it’s wikipedia page as I do with most albums that I listen to. And I found this quote in the overview. “According to guitarist Mike McCready, the reason the song was featured as a hidden track is because Eddie "didn’t want it to be exploitative.” And there was my answer.

It was deleted from Spotify as an individual song and as it was originally intended, it was edited back into the end of the song “Bee Girl.”

This kinda melted my heart. I’m glad they respected Eddie’s wishes.

VALLEY TALK — “Former Star Google and Uber Engineer Charged With Theft of Trade Secrets,”by NYT’s Mike Isaac: “Anthony Levandowski was once one of Silicon Valley’s most sought after technologists. As a pioneer of self-driving car technology, he became a confidant of Larry Page, a co-founder of Google, and helped develop the search giant’s autonomous vehicles. Uber wooed him to gain an edge in self-driving techniques. Venture capitalists threw their money at him.

“But on Tuesday … [f]ederal prosecutors charged him with 33 counts of theft and attempted theft of trade secrets from Google.At an arraignment in a federal courthouse in San Jose, Calif., a disheveled Mr. Levandowski, dressed in a blue blazer and dark brown pants and accompanied by his parents, posted $2 million bail and was ordered to wear an ankle monitor after prosecutors argued that he was a flight risk.” NYT
