𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 - 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟏 🐉 I stopped reading full-time years ago, when I started University. I was so overwhelmed with exams, that the only things I could read where Linguistics and Translation related things. No fantasy, no crime, no romance, no anything. Only Saussure, Trubeckoj, Jacobson, Chomsky. I spent my childhood and teenage years devouring books after books, and then all of a sudden bam. That's it. No book was interesting anymore, not even fantasy stories with werewolves - always my favourite. Reader block, definitely. I kept buying books but reading them? Nope. No way. They are still all there, on those small shelves in my pink room, waiting to be opened, to be lived (and loved). I missed a lot during these years. I'm aware of it. The all of a sudden I started reading again a little bit, like one or two books in one year. But that was not me. Come on, how could I just read one book in one year when I was used to read at least two a month?  This kept going for long, until I decided to open again some old books I had. Well, they were actually new, but I had them in Italian and I wanted to read them in English. For someone who started binge reading with a crime book, I thought that I could have started again with another crime book, to close the circle, you know. And apparently it's working. I opened again the Millenium Series and second bam, reading was not that heavy anymore. I bingeread The Girl with the Dragon Tatto and immediately started the sequel. I'm still slow though. But at least I'm reading now. Also, in full-time mode. And again, a book that helped me a lot when I was young came to the rescue almost ten years later. The proof that books can move mountains. And in my case, books could wash ways the misty clouds obscuring my mind. ----- 🖤 Have you ever had Reader Block? can’t wait for the last four books, but what’s gona happen? Kira’s end was kind of disappointing, and as she’s been built up to be the big bad over the last like 3-4 books, who’s gona be Salanders nemesis now? Lagercrantz has done a nice job of weaving all the seemingly random storylines in each volume together since he took over after The Girl Who Kicked a Hornets Nest. Sad we can’t get anymore Swedish movie versions as Mikael Nyqvist’s dead, and was disappointed that the American version skipped over like 2-3 books.... The American titles are cool but mygod the english translations of some of the Swedish titles:👌🏼the first half of the first might be super dry and journalistic...but once you get past that and into dynamic between Salander and Blomkvist and everybody they are so good.

Por acá les dejo un extracto: “Aunque su premisa pareciera alejarse un poco de la trilogía original, The Girl in the Spider´s Web tiene todos los componentes de sus predecesoras: historias enfocadas en crímenes sórdidos cometidos por psicópatas con gran poder político y económico, corrupción en todas las escalas de la sociedad, violencia desmedida, mafias, crítica a los medios de comunicación, el dilema justiciero vs la legalidad, misoginia y complejo paterno. Lastimosamente, todos estos ítems se diluyen en una puesta en escena que se balancea entre película de acción y thriller político, una mezcla sumamente efectiva y que hemos visto en películas contemporáneas como Casino Royale, Bourne Identity, Jack Reacher y Angels and Demons, pero que aplicada al universo de Larsson le resta profundidad a la historia (alejándola del drama y la crítica) en pro de darle mucha más direccionalidad. Una decisión arriesgada pero que tiene bastante sentido cuando nos ponemos en los zapatos de su director y co-guionista Fede Alvarez. Primero, Alvarez sale de su registro habitual como director de suspenso (donde, sin lugar a dudas, iba a tener que medirse con Fincher en las comparaciones odiosas entre ambas entregas) para pasar a la acción. Segundo, elige cambiar radicalmente la estructura de las novelas, transformando a un personaje principal (Blomkvist) en un secundario para enfocarse más en Salander y así darle más rapidez a la historia. Leniwe popołudnie już w wiosennym klimacie i ze świetną lekturą - kolejny tom z serii #Millenium, drugi autorstwa Davida Lagercrantza. #LisbethSalander i #MikaelBlomkvist jak zwykle w formie 💪 #MezczyznaKtoryGonilSwojCien to kolejna ciekawa i zawiła historia, którą czyta się doskonale. Po pierwszej książce tego autora miałam wątpliwości, bo jednak język Stiega Larssona był wyjątkowy, ale teraz już wszystko jest tak jak być powinno.
