"God, show me your face."

When I was heavily in the church, I would always say and hear others saying, "God, show me your face." It got me to thinking... Why is it that God is supposed to be so available and accessible and yet is supposedly so hard to find or recognize? The answer I've found, through experience, is that God is not hard to find at all. "He" is in the mirror, looking at you everyday. "He" resides in your heart, which most people choose not to explore because of the potential for stirring up past pain. You must be willing to peel back the layers to find God. You must open your eyes to be able to recognize God in what you FEEL is an unrecognizable host. God is everywhere, and yet you cannot find "him." God is constantly calling you by name, and yet you don't recognize "his" voice. What does that say about your spiritual eyes and their ability to see "him?" What does it say about your spiritual ears and their ability to hear "his" voice? In other words, God can be found outside of your current perspective or level of awareness. In other words, it is possible that because you don't know your own spiritual nature, you are limited in knowing God's spiritual nature. Could this mean God is most easily found and/or recognized within you?
