❁ summary: seeing you tired after days of hard work, dainsleif takes you for a casual stroll and you end up taking a nap under the tree at windrise.

❁ note: when i tell you i hate this one-shot with my whole heart and soul because i don't think i did justice for dainsleif sjcjekckd. i would like to apologize to all dainsleif kissers pls forgive me :"D. but yes, i hope you still enjoy this acco ily mwah <33

dainsleif is a mysterious, curious man who never gets tired of exploring and examining the terrains of mondstadt. often times, he would ask for your company in taking long strolls around the nation. 

the feeling of your hand in his as he takes in the sights and wonders of mondstadt will never get old. he quite thoroughly enjoys the whispers of the wind as small breezes sweep over the land, slightly tousling your hair in a way dainsleif thinks is nothing short of beautiful. 

on some days you would walk far and wide, the sun just about to set when you start trekking back to mondstadt's gates. however, sometimes you would walk a short distance before settling down somewhere for some moments. 

today was one of those days. dainsleif has noticed that you've been working hard at your job these past few days and he's taken you out for a casual stroll at windrise. he doesn't fail to notice the sag in your shoulders or the bags underneath your eyes, so he understands you when you ask if you could both take a rest under the tree that towers over the grass.

"of course, my star," he replies gently, taking your hand to guide you under the shade of the tree. the bough keeper doesn't mind at all when your head leans against his shoulder and your hands toy with his affectionately. 

you talk about everything and nothing at the same time. he asks about what you've been up to or how you've been feeling, allowing your small chatter to fill the air around you. but he also lets a comfortable silence hang between you, opting for tracing patterns on your hands as he leans his head against the trunk of the tree. 

he doesn't miss the yawns that you stifle or the way you tiredly rub your eyes, desperate to keep yourself conscious despite the exhaustion that heavily weighs your eyelids. 

"you can get some rest, love," he tells you, voice soft and hushed as he pats your hand in reassurance. 

"are you sure?" 

he nods and plants a gentle kiss on the crown of your head. "of course. i'll wake you up when the sun starts to set." 

"what if something happens?" you counter, knowing that there were some hilichurls or mobs nearby that could possibly disturb you.

"don't worry about it, my star. there's nothing particularly dangerous that i would not be able to fend off," he reassures you. "besides," he leans his head onto your own this time, "i won't let anything happen to you." 

calmed by his words of reassurance, you finally close your eyes and melt into the warmth of his side, drifting off into a light slumber beside your one and only protector.

Update: i tried every single 3ds emulator I heard worked for Android phones but to no avail <\\3 BUT. Fire emblem heroes is in the app store and I shall be playing it tomorrow or well,, later cause it's 2:30 in the morning ANYWAYS I WILL BE UPDATING YOU WITH MY EXPERIENCE JUST CAUSE (little thing tho but I originally wasn't gonna play FE heroes but I was some writing of it on your masterlist and I was like 'why not?' And I read the Xander one yknow the one with summoner reader AND FUCKING FELL IN LOVE. WHAT THE FUCK. THEYRE SO. JENEJEKE so yes I'm playing it entirely for him.)

SHAJDGDH that you mention the Ramen Prince is the reason why you’ll try I don’t know whether to be honored or guilty LMAO

I completely forgot about FEH - it’s been a long time since I touched it (since Book 4 I believe?) but it’s a fun, really simplified version of FE games + RNG thrown in.

RNG is slightly more nicer to users I believe.

Though I ought to warn you that since FEH compiles all characters across the whole FE franchise there’ll definitely be spoilers of games/characters.

Gameplay is basic and the plot is eh (compared to actual FE games) it’s great for people who know the characters but newbies can get on board easily too! you’ll get to interact with all the characters through FEH and maybe get a feel which FE game you’d like to start with 😉

Xander is from FE Fates, so if you do end up liking his character while playing FEH, you can start with Fates if you get the chance to try a FE game ;)
