Miink Gives An Expansion to His Paper Doll with Part II
British singer, songwriter and producer Miink, returns with a haunting new variation of his lead track ‘Paper Doll,’ taken from his last album release “Notice Me.” An ambitious and commendable project that addresses the Atlantic slave trade and it's impact on the cultures that were uprooted, Miink breathes additional life into the original project and amplifies the themes depicted with grander density and force.
“My aim with the latest project is to evoke vivid imagery in the minds of listeners. I hope to transport them into a state of deep absorption, where they can get lost in the music. Given that music is often ephemeral in nature, I want this project to linger on in their minds. I want it to serve as a lasting soundtrack to their experiences and stay with them as an unforgettable memory, rather than just a passing tune in a playlist.”
The stunning visual for ‘Paper Doll’ was directed by Emmy nominee, Elliott Power, and Miink explains that he wanted to use the song and video to illuminate how colonisers used Christianity to curtail enslaved people from committing suicide on the long boat ride across the Atlantic.
“Paper Doll Part II was inspired by my recent work scoring music to picture. My music has been noted for its cinematic feel but I usually create with a clear distinction between music written for film and my solo releases. In creating Part II, my intention was to blend the boundaries between mediums and produce a work that could serve both functions; enhancing the cinematic experience of music and sparking the creative inspiration of visual artists through sound.”
As a composer, Miink's success with sync placements and producing original scores for prestigious brands such as Louis Vuitton and Apple, Miink has acted as a catalyst and inspiration for his approach to reworking this track alongside others.
“The most important factor for me when collaborating with well-known brands is integrity and I only feel comfortable aligning with a brand that resonates with me. This could be because I admire their work, respect their values and appreciate their methods of operation and cultural output.
In this industry, integrity is a rare commodity that plays a crucial role in maintaining professionalism and avoiding chaos. It's also a key factor that ensures longevity for my own brand and more importantly, signals to others who share my values to connect with something genuine. The yardstick for measuring influence shouldn't always be the number of social media followers but rather the sincerity with which messages are conveyed to them. The most effective way to communicate is by being honest and truthful.”

Optical Arts worked with 4creative and Art Practice to direct and create five new idents for Channel 4, following their new masterbrand launch.
The idents consist of 25 unique looping scenes, designed to reflect what life is like in the UK today – through the eyes of 17 creatives, artists, and filmmakers. Each scene was developed from an open brief which invited each creator to interpret one of five themes: Identity (who we are), The Land (where we live), System (what controls us), Release (how we escape) and Love (all that really matters), with the idents being divided up into 5 sets of 5 films, each with its own distinct style and voice.
Our work is included alongside that of a diverse range of hugely talented directors, creating a unique and ambitious project, portraying a snapshot of Britain today.
Two of our scenes highlight some of the dark realities that technical advancement brings - widespread digital observation, and machine control. Whilst the other two address more human themes - the effect of serotonin on the brain and the experience of a broken heart.
We are thrilled to see our work within these idents as part of this epic and memorable project. Channel 4 have made some of the most iconic idents in TV history, and we are delighted to play a small part in continuing that legacy with this work.
Optical Arts directed and created 4 scenes: Shattering Room, Chemicals, Robotic Fulfilment Centre and Digital Tracking. Dinner Party was directed by Dan Tobin Smith, the studio’s founder.

FLOWERS is an afro-futuristic fairytale of love, following a ceremony of a mother giving away her son, adopting references to classic Disney stories from the 1930s-50s, modernising tropes for a coming of age tale.
Through poetic abstract storytelling, elevated throughout by lush cinematic tones and stylised
production and costume design, the whimsical story follows a prince as he journeys from the
confinement of his family home into the harsh reality of the outside world in search of his one true love, to the disappointment of his overlooked brothers.
In doing so the film reclaims the magic of that time we are all so familiar with: imagining what a black fairy-tale would look and feel like, by inverting and adapting age-old themes of fairy-tale lore.
