O México poderia ter saído com dignidade, mas colocou em campo @miguel_layun , que transformou a Seleção Mexicana num timeco de várzea. Que vergonha! Um timeco desse não merecia estar numa Copa do Mundo. #vergonha #vergonhamexicana #miguellayun #copa2018 #copadomundo2018 #brasilnacopa #jogodobrasil #brasilmexico

To Layundowski
Tumblr media
The nickname started after he scored four goals against Santos at Estadio Corona in a cool 2014 Friday night. The former aguila is an elegant role model. He’s been a Mexican footballer who has been able to demolish all of the jokes made out of his early America days and has transformed them into an unprecedented admiration to the point that Mexico followers, who used to joke about his game, now get mad because Juan Carlos Osorio believes he could be a better right-back than left-back. At the end of it all, Layundowski can play as striker, and there will be no problem because he took risks; he left commodities in Mexico City to look for new dreams in Watford and Portugal. And everywhere where football has taken him, he’s been able to win the fans over with his humility and amazing work-ethic. Without a doubt, Chicharito, Hector Herrera, Jesus “Tecatito” Corona, and even someone like Jonathan dos Santos will get a lot of attention because of what they represent for Mexican football. Chicharito is Chicharito. Herrera played formidable games in last season’s Champions League to the point of getting the plaudits from most of Europe’s football analysts. Corona defies expectations with his decisions and turns them worthwhile as he did in San Pedro Sula. Jonathan was brought up in FC Barcelona and grew up playing the beautiful game besides players like Thiago Alcantara, Rafinha, Sergi Roberto, and Marc Bartra. Layun is not Mexico’s idol and will never be, but he possesses a career that encompasses everything a Mexican footballer must do in order to become successful, to be known, to be admired and to be adored. In Portugal, with Layundowski in the team, FC Porto has yet to lose an official game. His numbers with Maxi Pereira already surpass those of last season’s full-backs Danilo (Real Madrid) and Alex Sandro’s (Juventus), and we’re still in November. Viva Layundowski!

#MiguelLayun #HBD #Crack

Miguel Layun’s move to Watford will only make him a better footballer
Tumblr media
When Miguel Layun speaks about his first month in England, he distills optimism, assurance, and only, confidence. Let the numbers do the talking, he has six starts going the full 90 minutes (except for one in which he played 88 minutes), while Watford continues its marathon, working to end the season as a Premier League club.
Time in the Championship has introduced Layun to a league only Giovani dos Santos had lived, with Roy Keane’s Ipswich Town. Keane would later write in his second autobiography, “The Second Half,” that he did not know what Giovani was doing at Ipswich, but that he was brilliant.
On the conditions of Watford’s training grounds, Layun said the following to ESPN Deportes’ Leon Lecanda - “One time I was talking with people from the coaching staff, who are Spanish, and they told me that a lot of Spanish clubs wished to have the training grounds that Watford has.”
The Spanish coaches Layun mentioned are Ruben Martinez and Javier Pereira who came over to Watford with Catalan coach Oscar Garcia for the present season. Health issues prevented Garcia to continue as Watford’s manager, and he decided to step down on Sept. 29th of last year.
Martinez and Pereira stayed at Watford and joined Slaviša Jokanović’s coaching staff. Jokanović played in Spain’s La Liga between 1993 and 2000. He played over 200 games in Spain and suited for Real Oviedo, Tenerife, and Deportivo La Coruña.
At Real Oviedo, his coach was Radomir Antic, and the club had formidable players of the former Yugoslavia, such as Nikola Jerkan, Janko Jankovic, and Robert Prosinecki. Jokanović was a fierce midfielder, as described in this article in Spanish by Miguel L. Pereira. With Deportivo, he won La Liga in the 1999-2000 season. He then went to try luck in the Premier League with Chelsea FC but didn’t succeed.
Jokanović made a name for himself in Spain but has only coached once in Spain; he was Hercules’ manager between May and June of 2014, but that was it. The club from Alicante is currently in Segunda B.
His coaching success took place in FK Partizan, where he won four titles. Jokanović can also say that he led Muangthong United FC to a Thai Premier League title.
The fact that Jokanović, Martinez, and Pereira can communicate in Spanish with Layun is a big plus, but Layun also pointed out to Lecanda that one of the fun challenges in Watford is to get the message across to a team that speaks a lot of languages, for there are players from Hungary, Brazil, Czech Republic, Serbia, Ecuador and other countries.
At Watford, Layun plays as a right midfielder in either a 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1. Ever since the World Cup finished for El Tri after Klass-Jan Huntelaar’s penalty kick, Layun hasn’t played that many games as a left-back, the position where Miguel “Piojo” Herrera was able to get the best out of him. With coach “Turco” Mohamed and Jokanović, Layun has taken off his game to another level playing in the midfield.
Layun’s ability to play in various places on the pitch make him an enticing player for every coach. His versatility and tactical proficiency set him on a special spot, yet he maintains his feet on the ground, and tries to portray himself as a humble, hardworking footballer, who always tries to dig out details to become a better midfielder. Seeing Layun perfecting his right-footed or left-footed shot is just one of the ways that he shows how much he worries on improving.
When the season concludes, we’ll be able to draw out how much Layun was able to help Watford, currently the team has 53 points and is in fifth place. Let’s not forget that at America he went from an unknown player, who came from Italy, and left the club as one of its leaders.
Layun also told Lecanda about how impressed he’s about the league’s organization, “The truth is that it’s a really competitive league (The Championship), you find yourself in a league that can pay £5 million or £6 million for players’ transfers, which is not common in a league that’s supposedly ‘inferior.’”
The “friend” Piojo Herrera believed that there was no need for Layun to take on this challenge and play in The Championship, while the “coach” Piojo Herrera stipulated that if Layun keeps playing and doing great things at Watford, the doors of the National Team will always be open for him.
Last week, Herrera gave to Fox Deportes’ Ruben Rodriguez eight names that will be in the Gold Cup call-up for next summer, of which are - Carlos Vela, Rafael Marquez, “Chicharito” Hernandez, Guillermo Ochoa, Hector Moreno, Hector Herrera, Giovani dos Santos, and Andres Guardado.
My question is, shouldn’t Miguel Layun’s name already be on this list, considering that he was America’s captain in the 2014 Apertura when it won the 12th title, and since arriving in England, he has six consecutive starts?
Let’s not forget that since the end of the 2014 World Cup, he has done everything in his power to become a better player, and that should never go unnoticed by a coach.
